(57)【要約】 【課題】 シール帯域の幅が中央部分の幅に比べて狭く
なっている、シール帯域の長手方向全域にわたって、熱
可塑性材料層間に液体飲料等の夾雑物が存在しない、良
好なシールを達成することができる高周波ヒートシール
装置を提供すること。 【解決手段】 合成樹脂層と導電性材料層を含む積層体
からなるチューブ状の包材を液面下で横断状にヒートシ
ールする装置において、加圧部材の一方の平坦な作用面
に面一に設けられた高周波コイルの作用面に、その左右
両側が丸く狭まったシール帯域の真ん中部分を押圧する
ことができるように、その横断面輪郭が円弧状の一部曲
線を含む形状の突条を設け、かつ、高周波コイルのカッ
ティング側外側に隣接して、溶融した熱可塑性樹脂の流
出部を設ける。

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、長期保存が可能な
紙容器入り液体飲料等を製造するための充填包装機にお
ける高周波ヒートシール装置、詳しくは液体飲料等の内
容物が充填されたチューブ状包装材料を、液面下で横断
状に高周波ヒートシールするシール装置に関する。
【0002】
【従来の技術】従来、ジュース等の液体が充填密封され
た直方体状等の包装容器を製造する場合、特公昭55−
3215号公報に見られるように、紙、アルミ箔、合成
樹脂を積層体とした包材を用い、該包材を搬送しながら
連続的にチューブ状として、該チューブ状の包材を、高
周波コイルを有するシールジョーと硬質ゴムからなるシ
ーリングゴムを有する対向ジョーとからなる加圧手段を
用いて、液面下で横断状にヒートシールし、ヒートシー
ルされた2つのシール帯域間を切断刃によりカッティン
グするシール装置を用いることはよく知られている。
【0003】また、特開昭58−134744号公報、
特開平5−269854号公報、特開平7−16452
3号公報、特開平8−218805号公報には、上記ヒ
ートシール装置において、シールジョーの高周波コイル
の作用面に断面が矩形の突条を設け、該突条により溶融
した樹脂をシール帯域内に押し出す積層材料のヒートシ
ール装置が開示されている。
【0004】また、特許第2571977号公報には、
上記ヒートシール装置において、チューブ状包装材料の
シール部の容器内面側となる方に溶融樹脂を流出させた
場合、容器内側の縁部に、波打った溶融樹脂ビードがで
き、容器に外力がかかった場合、ビードの波の頂部から
亀裂が入り、容器が破れるという問題を回避するため
に、U字状高周波コイルの真直部の外側(容器内側)に
2つの磁性体を配置し、容器内側となる部分を加熱しな
いようにすることが開示されている。
【0005】また、特開平8−230834号公報に
は、上記ヒートシール装置において、その長手方向に凸
部が設けられ、該凸部の両側に凸部と平行に形成された
溝を有する高周波コイルを用いることにより、包材の樹
脂が溶融され凸部により押されても、溶融樹脂をシール
帯域外へ流出させることなく、上記溝内に滞留させるこ
とが記載されている。
【0006】また、特開平8−244728号公報に
は、上記ヒートシール装置において、シール帯域形成部
が外側(容器内面側)にいくにしたがって漸次遠ざかる
方向に傾斜するように形成された高周波コイルを用い、
液面下でのチューブの加圧時にシール帯域から容器内側
に向かって液体及び溶融樹脂をスムーズに排除してヒー
トシールすることが記載されている。
【0007】さらに、特開昭62−52025号公報に
は、高周波コイルに電流が流れると、高周波コイルの周
りに高周波電磁界が発生し、この高周波電磁界がアルミ
箔等の導電性材料に渦電流を誘起させ、この渦電流によ
り導電性材料に熱が発生し、この熱が導電性材料に隣接
する熱可塑性樹脂を加熱溶融することになるが、この誘
起された渦電流はアルミ箔等の導電性材料の両端部で丸
い電気回路を形成し、その結果、両端部の加熱領域も丸
くなり、両端部における溶融される熱可塑性材料層の幅
が狭くなることが開示され、左右両側部分が狭くなった
シール帯域や、該シール帯域の非左右両側部分を基準と
して、その中央を押圧する直線状の突条が設けられてい
る高周波コイルが記載されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】液体飲料等の内容物が
充填されたチューブ状包材を液体が存在する状態で横断
状にヒートシールする高周波ヒートシール装置におい
て、ヒートシールを良好に行うためには、高周波加熱に
より溶融した熱可塑性材料層同士を高周波コイルに設け
られた突条で押圧し、熱可塑性材料層間に存在する液体
飲料等の夾雑物と共に、溶融した熱可塑性樹脂を突条下
方からその両側に押し流し、夾雑物を含まない熱可塑性
樹脂からなる薄層を突条下方に形成することが必要とさ
れている。
【0009】ところで、上記特開昭62−52025号
公報にも記載されているように、U字型の高周波コイル
でチューブ状アルミ箔入り包材を加熱すると、ループを
形成する加熱パターンとなる。その結果、シール帯域長
手方向の左右両側部分の幅はそれ以外の非左右両側部分
の幅に比べて狭くなり、例えば、シール帯域の非左右両
側部分の幅方向の中央を押圧する直線状の突条等、加熱
パターンに合っていない直線状の突条を有する高周波コ
イル備えた高周波ヒートシール装置を用いてヒートシー
ルをすると、チューブ状包装材料の左右両端部の溶融し
ていない領域を突条が押圧することがあり、シール不良
が発生する可能性があるという問題があった。
【0010】本発明の課題は、シール帯域の幅が非左右
両側部分の幅に比べて狭くなっている、高周波加熱にお
けるシール帯域長手方向の左右両側部分も含め、シール
帯域の長手方向全域にわたって、熱可塑性材料層間に液
体飲料等の夾雑物が存在しない、良好なシールを達成す
ることができる高周波ヒートシール装置を提供すること
にある。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明者らは、良好なヒ
ートシールを達成するためには、ヒートシール時に、シ
ール帯域となる熱可塑性材料層、特にその表面の凹凸部
に残存する液体飲料等の夾雑物を、溶融した熱可塑性樹
脂と共にシール帯域外に流出させ、夾雑物を含まない熱
可塑性樹脂からなる薄層をシール帯域内に形成すること
により、良好なヒートシールが得られるという知見に基
づくヒートシール装置を試作したが、かかるヒートシー
ル装置を用いた場合、チューブ状包装材料の左右両端部
に形成されることになる折り返し部に希にトンネルが発
生することがわかったので、このトンネルを押し潰すた
めに、狭くなったシール帯域の左右両端部の中央を押圧
することができる2つの短い直線状の突条を高周波コイ
ルに設けたヒートシール装置を開発した。
【0012】かかる高周波ヒートシール装置を用いる場
合には、ヒートシール時に熱可塑性材料層間に存在する
液体飲料等の夾雑物を、溶融した熱可塑性樹脂と共にシ
ール帯域外(カッティング側)に流出させ、夾雑物を含
まない熱可塑性樹脂からなる薄層をシール帯域内に形成
することができ、また上記左右突条がチューブ状包装材
料の左右両端部に形成されることになる折り返し部に希
に発生するトンネルを押し潰すことが可能となって、良
好なヒートシールができることが確かめられている。
【0013】本発明者らは、上記本発明者らにより開発
された高周波ヒートシール装置の知見をもとにし、前記
課題を解決するため鋭意研究したところ、シール帯域の
幅が非左右両側部分の幅に比べて漸次丸く狭まってい
る、高周波加熱におけるシール帯域長手方向の左右両側
部分の中央を押圧することができる一部曲線を含む突条
を用いることにより、上記課題を解決することができる
と共に、より優れた高周波ヒートシールが達成しうるこ
とを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。
【0014】すなわち本発明は、合成樹脂層と導電性材
料層を含む積層体からなる包材をチューブ状とし、該チ
ューブ状の包材を液面下で横断状にヒートシールする、
高周波加熱機構を有する開閉自在な一対の加圧部材から
なる高周波ヒートシール装置において、加圧部材の一方
の平坦な作用面に面一に設けられた高周波コイルの作用
面に、その左右両側が丸く狭まったシール帯域の中央部
分を押圧することができるように、その横断面輪郭が円
弧状の一部曲線を含む形状の突条が設けられ、かつ、高
周波コイルのカッティング側外側に隣接して、溶融した
熱可塑性樹脂の流出部が設けられていることを特徴とす
る高周波ヒートシール装置に関する。
【0015】また本発明は、突条が一部曲線を含む1本
の線状の突条である上記高周波ヒートシール装置や、高
周波コイルの容器側外側に隣接して帯状磁性体が設けら
れている上記の高周波ヒートシール装置に関する。

【発明の実施の形態】本発明にかかる高周波ヒートシー
ル装置が使用される充填包装機として、例えば、図1に
示される、包装材料ウェブ1をロール状に支持している
リワインダと、リワインダからウェブを順次巻き戻す巻
き戻し装置と、巻き戻されたウェブを殺菌した後管状に
成形するチューブ成形装置と、管状に成形されたウェブ
内に流動性内容物を充填する給液管2と、内容物充填チ
ューブをほぼ容器1個に相当する長さ分だけ下方に送り
ながら、横方向にシールして枕状容器3を連続的に成形
する横シール装置4と、横シール装置の下方に設けられ
懸吊状態にある枕状容器のシール部を切断し、容器を1
個ずつに切り離すカッティング装置5と、切り離された
枕状容器3の端部を折り曲げ、最終形態である直方体状
容器6に整形する容器整形装置を備えている充填包装機
等を例示することができる。
【0017】また、横シール装置4としては、例えば特
公平1−23366号公報に開示されているものを用い
ることができる。この横シール装置4は、図2に示すよ
うに、昇降自在かつ可逆回動自在な垂直ロッド10と、
垂直ロッド10とともに昇降しかつ垂直ロッド10に取
り付けられている昇降フレーム11と、下部において相
互に平行な一対の水平軸心を中心として揺動するように
昇降フレーム11にそれぞれ支持されている前後一対の
揺動アーム12、13と、各揺動アーム12、13の上
部に相互に向き合うようにそれぞれ固定されている前後
一対の高周波コイルを備えた加圧部材14、15と、両
加圧部材14、15が相互に接近する閉位置と相互に離
間する開位置の間を両揺動アーム12、13を揺動させ
るアーム開閉装置16と、閉位置において両揺動アーム
12、13を相互に引き寄せて両加圧部材14、15の
間にシール圧力を発生させるプレス装置20とを備えて
いる。
【0018】本発明の高周波ヒートシール装置は、チュ
ーブ状の包材を液面下で横断状にヒートシールする上記
横シール装置4における、その作用面に一部曲線を含む
形状の突条が設けられた高周波コイルを備えている開閉
自在な一対の加圧部材から構成されている。そして、こ
の高周波ヒートシール装置における、その作用面に一部
曲線を含む形状の突条が設けられた高周波コイルを備え
ている開閉自在な一対の加圧部材を用いて、チューブ状
の包材を液面下で横断状に押圧することにより、包材の
最内面の合成樹脂層に熱と圧力が加えられたシール帯域
が形成され、ヒートシールを達成することができる。
【0019】本発明における合成樹脂層と導電性材料層
を含む積層体からなる包材としては、その最内面に加熱
手段によってヒートシールすることができるポリエチレ
ン等の合成樹脂層と、高周波加熱により発熱する導電性
材料層とを含む積層体であればどのようなものでもよい
が、導電性材料層としては、容器内へ光や酸素等を透過
させないアルミ箔層が好ましい。また、容器の剛性を維
持するため等の点から、紙シート層を有する積層体の使
用が好ましい。そして、かかる包材は、従来公知の方法
を用いて非液面下でその長手方向の端縁部同士が熱溶着
され、チューブ状に成形される。
【0020】本発明の高周波ヒートシール装置は、図3
及び図4に示すように、かかるチューブ状の包材21
を、液面下で横断状にヒートシールするための高周波加
熱機構を有する開閉自在な一対の加圧部材から構成され
る。この高周波ヒートシール装置における一対の加圧部
材は、加熱源としての高周波コイル22を備えた加圧部
材23(以下「シールジョー」という)と、これを備え
ていない硬質ゴム24等からなる加圧部材25(以下
「対向ジョー」という)とからふつう形成される。そし
て、チューブ状の包材21を押圧するシールジョー23
と対向ジョー25の作用面は平坦面から構成され、シー
ルジョー23には高周波コイル22が、その作用面がシ
ールジョーの作用面と面一、すなわち同一平面を形成す
るように埋め込まれている。
【0021】本発明の高周波ヒートシール装置において
は、上記のように、チューブ状の包材の加熱手段として
高周波加熱機構が用いられ、この高周波加熱機構は高周
波コイルを備えるものである。図5及びその部分拡大図
である図6に示すように、シールジョー23に設けられ
た高周波コイル22に電流が流れると、高周波コイルの
周りに高周波電磁界が発生し、この高周波電磁界がアル
ミ箔等の導電性材料に渦電流を誘起させ、この渦電流に
より導電性材料に熱が発生し、この熱が導電性材料に隣
接する熱可塑性樹脂を加熱溶融することになる。この誘
起された渦電流はアルミ箔等の導電性材料の両端部で丸
い電気回路を形成し、チューブ状の包材21の左右両側
部分の加熱領域も丸くなり、両端部における溶融される
熱可塑性材料層の幅が狭くなる。その結果、シール帯域
はその長手方向の左右両側部分26で丸く狭まった形と
なり、その非左右両側部分27に比べてシール帯域幅が
狭くなっている。
【0022】ここでシール帯域とは、包材の最内面の合
成樹脂層同士に熱と圧力が加えられた帯域、すなわちヒ
ートシールされている帯域をいう。したがって、加圧さ
れているが加熱されていない領域や、加熱されているが
加圧されていない領域はシール帯域とはいえない。ま
た、図5や図6においては、シールジョーにU字状の高
周波コイル22を設けて、切断予定部28を介してチュ
ーブ状包材の2箇所を同時にヒートシールする場合にお
ける、シール帯域を便宜上シールジョー23の上に重ね
て図示しており、この図5や図6に示されているよう
に、この種のヒートシール装置におけるシール帯域の長
手方向(チューブを横断する方向)と直交する方向(チ
ューブの長手方向)の端縁部は、その一方の端縁部29
がジュース等の充填物の側、すなわち容器内面側とな
り、他方の端縁部30が容器を1個ずつ切り離すための
カッティング側となる。なお、本発明においては、かか
るシール帯域に対応する加圧部材の高周波コイルの作用
面をも便宜上シール帯域ということがある。
【0023】本発明は、高周波コイルの作用面に、シー
ル帯域の幅が丸く狭まっている左右両側のシール帯域の
中央部分を押圧することができるように、一部曲線を含
む形状の突条が設けられていることを特徴とするもので
あるが、この一部曲線を含む突条としては、図7に示す
ように、非左右両側部分にも突条が形成されている連続
した1本の線状の突条31からなるものや、図8に示す
ように、非左右両側部分に突条が形成されておらず、左
右両側だけに設けられた2本の短い突条32からなるも
のを例示することができる。また、本発明における突条
押圧部の形状としては、図3及び図4に示されるよう
に、押圧時に包材を損傷することがないように、横断面
輪郭が円弧状となっている。
【0024】このように、本発明においては、シール帯
域の幅が丸く狭まっている左右両側のシール帯域の中央
部分を押圧することができる、その横断面輪郭が円弧状
の一部曲線を含む形状の突条が設けられているので、押
圧時に包材を損傷することがなく、かつ、押圧されたチ
ューブ状包材の左右両端の折り返し部や、あらかじめ包
材に設けられているクリース(折り目)部に起因するト
ンネル発生によるシール不良を確実に防止することがで
きる。
【0025】そして、本発明における、高周波コイルの
カッティング側外側に隣接して設けられる、溶融した熱
可塑性樹脂の流出部の一例としては、例えば図3に示さ
れている、シールジョー23の作用面の一部のみが対向
ジョー25の作用面に当接するような、高周波コイル2
2のカッティング側外側端縁部30に隣接して溶融した
熱可塑性樹脂の流出部33が設けられた、シールジョー
23と対向ジョー25とを備えた一対の加圧部材を挙げ
ることができる。この流出部33を有する加圧部材は、
加熱領域のすべてが加圧帯域に含まれ、シール帯域と加
熱領域とが一致する、シールジョーの作用面の全域が対
向ジョーの作用面に当接するような、シールジョーと対
向ジョーとを備えた一対の加圧部材とは異なり、シール
ジョー23の作用面の一部しか対向ジョー25の作用面
に当接しないので、シール帯域は加熱領域より小さな帯
域となる。
【0026】また、本発明における、高周波コイルのカ
ッティング側外側に隣接して設けられる、溶融した熱可
塑性樹脂の流出部の他の例としては、図4に示すよう
に、シールジョー23と対向ジョー25からなる加圧部
材の少なくとも一方の作用面に、シール帯域のカッティ
ング側外側端縁部30に隣接して合成樹脂溜まりを形成
し得るような溝34を設け、かかる溝を流出部とした一
対の加圧部材を挙げることができる。
【0027】このように、本発明においては、かかる流
出部を設けることにより、シール帯域内の包材の最内面
の合成樹脂層が、加熱機構を備えた加圧部材の作用によ
り、溶融され、該合成樹脂層表面に付着していたジュー
ス等の充填物や汚れなどの夾雑物と共にカッティング側
に向かって押し流され、その結果、シール帯域には夾雑
物のない優れたシール性を有する薄い合成樹脂層が形成
されることになるので、図7に示される、非左右両側部
分にも突条が形成されている連続した1本の線状の突条
31が設けられた高周波コイルを備えたものはもちろ
ん、図8に示されるように、左右両側だけに設けられた
2本の短い突条32が設けられた高周波コイルを備えた
ものにおいても、突条が形成されていない非左右両側部
分においても良好なヒートシールを達成することができ
る。
【0028】また、本発明の高周波ヒートシール装置に
おいては、図3や図7及び図8に示すように、平坦な作
用面を有する高周波コイルの容器内面側外側に隣接して
帯状又は板状のフェライト製等の磁性体35を設けるこ
とが望ましい。この容器内面側外側に隣接して設けられ
ている帯状磁性体35を設けることにより、高周波コイ
ルから発生する磁力線が磁性体によりシール帯域側に屈
折され、チューブ状包材の高周波コイルの容器内面側外
側、すなわちシール帯域の容器内面側の端縁部が不必要
な温度まで加熱されることがない。
【0029】
【発明の効果】本発明によると、シール帯域の幅が丸く
狭まっている左右両側のシール帯域の中央部分を押圧す
ることができる、その横断面輪郭が円弧状の一部曲線を
含む形状の突条が設けられているので、押圧時に包材を
損傷することがなく、かつ、押圧されたチューブ状包材
の左右両端の折り返し部や、あらかじめ包材に設けられ
ているクリース(折り目)部に起因するトンネル発生に
よるシール不良を確実に防止することができる上に、カ
ッティング側外側に隣接して流出部が設けられているの
で、シール帯域内の包材の最内面の合成樹脂層が、加熱
機構を備えた加圧部材の作用により、溶融され、該合成
樹脂層表面に付着していたジュース等の充填物や汚れな
どの夾雑物と共にカッティング側に向かって押し流さ
れ、その結果、シール帯域には夾雑物のない優れたシー
ル性を有する薄い合成樹脂層が形成されることになり、
より良好なヒートシールを達成することができる。

Claims (3)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 合成樹脂層と導電性材料層を含む積層体
    からなる包材をチューブ状とし、該チューブ状の包材を
    液面下で横断状にヒートシールする、高周波加熱機構を
    有する開閉自在な一対の加圧部材からなる高周波ヒート
    シール装置において、加圧部材の一方の平坦な作用面に
    面一に設けられた高周波コイルの作用面に、その左右両
    側が丸く狭まったシール帯域の中央部分を押圧すること
    ができるように、その横断面輪郭が円弧状の一部曲線を
    含む形状の突条が設けられ、かつ、高周波コイルのカッ
    ティング側外側に隣接して、溶融した熱可塑性樹脂の流
    出部が設けられていることを特徴とする高周波ヒートシ
    ール装置。
  2. 【請求項2】 突条が、一部曲線を含む連続した1本の
    線状の突条であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の高周
    波ヒートシール装置。
  3. 【請求項3】 高周波コイルの容器側外側に隣接して帯
    状磁性体が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1又
    は2記載の高周波ヒートシール装置。
