(57)【要約】 各々が、パイプの壁の中心と外側面38との間に一層又は複数層の強化繊維34を有する2つの熱可塑性パイプ10、12のうちの一方のパイプに電気溶融継手14を摺動させる。端面を突合せ融接機でトリムし、かかる端面40、42を加熱プレートに押しつける。プレートを除去し、端面を互いに押しつける。材料の内外方の流れを伴う内側ビード50及び外側ビード52が生じ、この外方の流れは、強化繊維のない内層60を溶接接合部に形成する。外側ビード52を除去し、継手を突合せ融接式溶接接合部を摺動させ、継手を付勢して継手をパイプの外側に溶融溶接させる。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 強化熱可塑性パイプを接合する方法 本発明は、強化熱可塑性パイプを接合する方法に関する。 本発明は、専用ではないが特に、各々が一層又は複数層の繊維強化体を有する ことによって価値をが高められた圧力定格を有するパイプの接合に関する。繊維 を、例えば、熱可塑性材料の内方パイプに直接巻いてもよいし、巻きの前にテー プに予め形成しても良い。別の例では、繊維又はテープは単に内方パイプを長手 方向に延びる。繊維強化体を完全に覆うように該繊維強化体上には、保護のため 、内方パイプと同じタイプ又は等級の必要性のない熱可塑性材料の外層が追加さ れている。繊維又はテープを互いに、そして、内方パイプ及び外層に溶融指せて もよいし、好ましいのであれば、繊維又はテープは遊離しても良い。内方パイプ は、強化体の包囲層及び追加の外層と共に、内方パイプの内側面と外層の外側面 との間に或るパイプ壁を有するパイプを形成し、強化体の各層は、パイプ壁の中 心に位置するか、外層の中心 或いは、外側面との間に位置する。 機械継手を使用して強化熱可塑性パイプを接合することが知られており、この 継手は、例えばパイプにクランプされ、或いは、熱可塑性材料を内方金属包囲チ ューブと外方金属カラーとの間に圧搾する。かかる継手は、流体シールを作り、 継手からのパイプの「引抜き」(PUll out)に対するかなりの抵抗を有するよう に設計されている。 大部分金属のものであるかかる継手は腐食を受けやすい。更に、内方の流体が 熱可塑性樹脂の特性に影響を及ぼし、熱可塑性樹脂が軟化し、その結果、クラン プ力、それ故、シール及び「引抜き」特性が一定期間失われるかもしれない。 本発明の目的はかかる継手の使用を回避することである。 本発明によれば、突合せ融接式溶接接合による2つの強化熱可塑性パイプを接 合する方法が提供され、各パイプが内側面及び外側面を有し、パイプ壁が内側面 及び外側面との間に延び、1つ、或いは、2以上の層の強化繊維がパイプ壁の外 側半部に位置し、熱可塑性材料がパイプの端部分から溶融するように、パイプの 端部分を、これらの間に介在された加熱プレートに押しつけることによってパイ プの端部分を加熱し、次いで、加熱プレートの除去に続いて、端面を互いに押し つけ、溶融材料を端部分から据込み、熱可塑性材料の内外方の流れを引き起こし て、内側ビード及び外側ビードを形成し、その後、パイプを、軸線方向の分離運 動をしないようにしながら、冷却させ、据込み中の前記外方の流れによって、強 化層を元の位置から完全に、或いは、主として外方に変位させ、溶接接合部で、 強化繊維の層と共通内側面との間に、強化繊維がない熱可塑性樹脂の層を形成す る。 次いで、本発明の実施例を一例として添付図面を参照して説明する。 第1図乃至第4図は、2つの熱可塑性パイプを互いに接合する種々の段階を示 す。 第5図は、第2図で○で囲まれて示された接合部の帯域を拡大尺で示す。 第6図は第2実施例を示す。 第1図は、突合せ融接式溶接接合(継手)によって接合されることになってい る2つのパイプ10、12を示す。一方のパイプ12は、該パイプ12を取り囲 む電気溶融継手14を有する。継手14はパイプ12上の動きばめであり、直径 方向の隙間16が示されている。継手14は加熱要素を支持し、この加熱要素は 、継手14の熱可塑性の壁に埋設され、パイプ12を包囲する2つのグループの 巻線18、20を有する。加熱コイルは、継手14と一体のシュラウド22、2 4内で端末(図示せず)に連結される。 各パイプ10、12は、内側面32を有する熱可塑性樹脂の内方パイプ30と 、内方パイプ30に巻かれた、或いは、パイプ30を単に長手方向に延びる強化 繊維の1層又は複数の層34と、該層34に続いて内方パイプ30に加えられた 熱可塑性材料36の外層とを有する。外層36は外側面38を有する。 かくして、各パイプ10、12は、内側面32と外側面38との間にパイプ壁 を有する。 パイプ10、12の端面を接合する前に、これらのパイプは、これらのパイプ のきれいな(形の整った)面40、42を作るように正確にトリムされる。この 作業は、パイプ10、12が突合せ融接機(図示せず)に保持されている間に行 われる。次いで、パイプ10、12を流体圧シリンダによってパイプ端40、4 2間に介在された加熱プレートに押しつける。熱可塑性材料が溶融し、軸線方向 に加えられた負荷によって据込まれたときに、各パイプに最初のビードが形成さ れる。 加熱浸透期間パイプ10、12を加熱プレートに押し当てた状態に保つ。次い で、パイプ10、12をプレートから引っ込め、プレートを取り除き、パイプ1 0、12を軸線方向の負荷で互いに寄せる。溶融材料は、最後の内側ビード50 及び外側ビード52を形成する熱可塑性材料の内側方向及び外側方向の流れを伴 って、パイプ10、12の端部分から据込まれる。 パイプ10、12を冷却させ、最終段階の冷却中軸線方向の力を取り除くけれ ども、パイプ10、12は軸線方向の別々の運動をしないようにされる(第2図 )。 各パイプ10、12の(各)強化層34は、熱可塑性材料の外側方向の流れに よって58で元の位置から完全に、或いは、主として外方に変位される(第5図 )。その結果、溶接接合部には、共通の内側面32に隣接した、強化繊維がない 熱可塑性材料の層60が形成される。 次いで、外側ビード52を除去し(第3図)、電気溶融継手14をパイプ12 に沿って継手14がパイプ10を半分、パイプ12を半分覆うまで摺動させるこ とによって、電気溶融継手14を突合せ融接式溶接接合部に心だしする。 最後に、端末を電気エネルギ源に接続し、電気溶融によって継手14がパイプ 10、12の端部分に溶接されるのに十分な時間、加熱要素に電流を流す(第4 図)。巻線のグループ18と巻線のグループ20との間の中央の小帯域は、溶融 されず、短軸の外側ビーズ52を有する。 一例として、アラミド繊維で強化したポリエチレンのパイプ間で接合を行った 。パイプは、外径が125mmであり、11.5mmの壁厚(肉厚)を有していた。 標準寸法比(Standard Dimension Ratio:「SDR」)として知られている、外径を 壁厚で割ることによって得られる商は11であった。内側ビード及び外側ビード は、幅(すなわち、パイプの長さと平行に測られた)11mmであり、高さ(すな わち、パイプに対して半径方向に測られた)5mmである。その他の例では、内側 ビード及び外側ビードは非常に小さく、幅3mm、高さ2mmであった。 これらの例では、内方パイプ30及び外層36は、同じ等級のポリエチレンも のである。しかしながら、一般には、内方パイプ30及び外層36は、同じ等級 又は異なる等級の同じ熱可塑性樹脂からなっても良いし、同じ熱可塑性樹脂又は 異なる熱可塑性樹脂からなっても良い。 突合せ溶接の性能及び稠度に関する品質管理検査を行うことが必要である場合 には大きなビードが好ましく、このビードは、検査のため半径方向に取り除かれ る。他方、非常に小さなビードは有利である、というのは、内側ビードは大きな ビード程には製品の流れを妨げないからである。また、電気溶融継手を突合せ融 接接合部を摺動させるために外側ビードを除去する必要はなく、継手はパイプと の間の隙間は、外側ビードを受け入れるほど大きいであろう。実際は、工学的要 求に従っていかなる寸法のビードをも作ることができる。また、本発明は、広範 囲のパイプ寸法及びSDRのものに適用することができ、引き合いに出された例 は単に例として述べられたに過ぎない。 完成した接合では、突合せ融接式溶接接合を行う際の溶融パイプ材料の流れが 、強化繊維がない層60を形成し、該層60が元の内方パイプ30の厚さとほぼ 同じ厚さにあることを保証する。従って、例えば25バールの圧力にあるパイプ を流れる攻撃的化学物質又は流体は、高い応力を受ける繊維強化材から遠ざけら れたままである。しかしながら、突合せ継手の外側部分には繊維があるので、溶 接界面は脆弱になり、このことは、パイプに加わる軸線方向荷重又は曲げ荷重に よる脆弱破壊の危険を生じさせる。 にもかかわらず、本発明によって行われる突合せ接合は、かかる負荷が限界内 に保たれる場合、非常に有用である。 しかしながら、好ましい形態の接合(継手)では、電気溶融継手14が突合せ 溶接接合部に亘って溶融溶接され、このことは接合部を実質的に強化する。継手 14は、使用中突合せ接合部が壊れないようにし、また、非ビード突合せ接合部 の外面に突出する又はかかる外面に近い繊維を外部環境から護る。もし繊維への アクセスが許されてしまうならば、加圧ガス及び液体が毛管作用によって繊維に 沿ってかなりの距離浸透することになる。繊維内の高圧ガスにより、強化層に沿 って結合しなくなってしまう。このことは、外層をパイプから裂いてしまい、ま た、管路(配管系統)が減圧された場合、内方パイプ30の圧潰を生じさせる。 上述した例では、試験により、パイプは125バールで目に見える接合部の損 傷なしに破裂することがわかった。通常、突合せ接合及び/又は電気溶融接合に よる非強化ポリエチレンパイプは約30バールでパイプを破裂させてしまう。 第6図は別の実施例を示す。この実施例では、3つの電気溶融継手70、72 、74が、突合せ溶接によって、互いに端と端とが接合されている。次いで、3 つの継手の組立体を、接合すべき2つのパイプ76、78のうちの一方のパイプ に摺動させる。前のように、2つのパイプ76、78を突合せ溶接し、接合部は 80で示されており、82で示す内側ビードを残して外側ビードを除去する。 次いで、中央継手72が接合部80を跨ぐように3つの継手の組立体を接合部 80に摺動させた。 前のように、電気溶接式接合によって継手72を各パイプ76、78に接合さ せた。次いで、第6図に示すように、電気溶融式接合によって、2つの外側継手 70、74の各々を夫々のパイプ76、78に接合させた。 第1図乃至第5図の実施例よりも高い破裂圧が第6図の実施例によって維持さ れた。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1.突合せ融接式溶接接合によって2つの強化された熱可塑性パイプを接合する 方法において、各パイプが内側面及び外側面を有し、パイプ壁が内側面及び外側 面との間に延び、1つ、或いは、2以上の層の強化繊維がパイプ壁の外側半部に 位置し、熱可塑性材料がパイプの端部分から溶融するように、パイプの端部分を 、これらの間に介在された加熱プレートに押しつけることによってパイプの端部 分を加熱し、次いで、加熱プレートの除去に続いて、端面を互いに押しつけ、溶 融材料を端部分から据込み、熱可塑性材料の内外方の流れを引き起こして、内側 ビード及び外側ビードを形成し、その後、パイプを冷却させ、据込み中の前記外 方の流れによって、強化層を元の位置から完全に、或いは、主として外方に変位 させ、溶接接合部で、強化繊維の層と共通内側面との間に、強化繊維がない熱可 塑性樹脂の層を形成する、方法。 2.突合せ融接式溶接接合部を形成した後、電気溶融継手を接合部に位置決めし 、電気溶融溶接接合によって電気溶融継手を2つのパイプに接合させるのに十分 な時間、電気溶融継手を付勢する、請求項1による方法。 3.外側ビードを除去し、継手を突合せ融接式溶接接合部に位置決めする、請求 項2による方法。 4.継手が、該継手とパイプの外面との間に半径方向の隙間を有し、外側ビード が半径方向の隙間に受け入れられるほど小さい、請求項2による方法。 5.前記電気溶融継手が、端と端とが互いに接合された3つの電気溶融継手のう ちの中央の継手であり、最も外側の継手を、夫々、電気溶融溶接接合部によって 前記パイプに接合させる、請求項2乃至請求項4のいずれか一項による方法。 6.前記電気溶融継手が突合せ溶接接合部によって互いに接合される、請求項5 による方法。 7.先ず最初に、電気溶融接合によって前記中間の電気溶融継手を前記パイプに 接合し、その後、前記最も外側の継手を電気溶融溶接接合によって前記パイプに 接合する、請求項5又は請求項6による方法。 8.請求項1乃至請求項7のいずれか一項による方法によって接合されたパイプ 。 9.第1図乃至第5図に関連して実質的に述べた、請求項1による方法。 10.第6図に関連して実質的に述べた、請求項1による方法。 11.請求項9による方法又は請求項10による方法によって接合されたパイプ。
