Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、強化熱可塑性パイプを接合する方法に関す
る。
本発明は、専用ではないが特に、各々が一層又は複数
層の繊維強化体を有することによって物価をが高められ
た圧力定格を有するパイプの接合に関する。繊維を、例
えば、熱可塑性材料の内方パイプに直接巻いてもよい
し、巻きの前にテープに予め形成しても良い。別の例で
は、繊維又はテープは単に内方パイプを長手方向に延び
る。繊維強化体を完全に覆うように該繊維強化体上に
は、保護のため、内方パイプと同じタイプ又は等級の必
要性のない熱可塑性材料の外層が追加されている。繊維
又はテープを互いに、そして、内方パイプ及び外層に溶
融指せてもよいし、好ましいのであれば、繊維又はテー
プは遊離しても良い。内方パイプは、強化体の包囲層及
び追加の外層と共に、内方パイプの内側面と外層の外側
面との間に或るパイプ壁を有するパイプを形成し、強化
体の各層は、パイプ壁の中心に位置するか、外層の中心
或いは、外側面との間に位置する。
機械継手を使用して強化熱可塑性パイプを接合するこ
とが知られており、この継手は、例えばパイプにクラン
プされ、或いは、熱可塑性材料を内方金属包囲チューブ
と外方金属カラーとの間に圧搾する。かかる継手は、流
体シールを作り、継手からのパイプの「引抜き」(pull
out)に対するかなりの抵抗を有するように設計されて
いる。
大部分金属のものであるかかる継手は腐食を受けやす
い。更に、内方の流体が熱可塑性樹脂の特性に影響を及
ぼし、熱可塑性樹脂が軟化し、その結果、クランプ力、
それ故、シール及び「引抜き」特性が一定期間失われる
かもしれない。
本発明の目的はかかる継手の使用を回避することであ
る。
本発明によれば、突合せ融接式溶接接合による2つの
強化熱可塑性パイプを接合する方法が提供され、各パイ
プが内側面及び外側面を有し、パイプ壁が内側面及び外
側面との間に延び、1つ、或いは、2以上の層の強化繊
維がパイプ壁の外側半部に位置し、熱可塑性材料がパイ
プの端部分から溶融するように、パイプの端部分を、こ
れらの間に介在された加熱プレートに押しつけることに
よってパイプの端部分を加熱し、次いで、加熱プレート
の除去に続いて、端面を互いに押しつけ、溶融材料を端
部分から据込み、熱可塑性材料の内外方の流れを引き起
こして、内側ビード及び外側ビードを形成し、その後、
パイプを、軸線方向の分離運動をしないようにしなが
ら、冷却させ、据込み中の前記外方の流れによって、強
化層を元の位置から完全に、或いは、主として外方に変
位させ、溶接接合部で、強化繊維の層と共通内側面との
間に、強化繊維がない熱可塑性樹脂の層を形成する。
次いで、本発明の実施例を一例として添付図面を参照
して説明する。
第1図乃至第4図は、2つの熱可塑性パイプを互いに
接合する種々の段階を示す。
第5図は、第2図で○で囲まれて示された接合部の帯
域を拡大尺で示す。
第6図は第2実施例を示す。
第1図は、突合せ融接式溶接接合(継手)によって接
合されることになっている2つのパイプ10、12を示す。
一方のパイプ12は、該パイプ12を取り囲む電気溶融継手
14を有する。継手14はパイプ12上の動きばめであり、直
径方向の隙間16が示されている。継手14は加熱要素を支
持し、この加熱要素は、継手14の熱可塑性の壁に埋設さ
れ、パイプ12を包囲する2つのグループの巻線18、20を
有する。加熱コイルは、継手14と一体のシュラウド22、
24内で端末(図示せず)に連結される。
各パイプ10、12は、内側面32を有する熱可塑性樹脂の
内方パイプ30と、内方パイプ30に巻かれた、或いは、パ
イプ30を単に長手方向に延びる強化繊維の1層又は複数
の層34と、該層34に続いて内方パイプ30に加えられた熱
可塑性材料36の外層とを有する。外層36は外側面38を有
する。
かくして、各パイプ10、12は、内側面32と外側面38と
の間にパイプ壁を有する。
パイプ10、12の端面を接合する前に、これらのパイプ
は、これらのパイプのきれいな(形の整った)面40、42
を作るように正確にトリムされる。この作業は、パイプ
10、12が突合せ融接機(図示せず)に保持されている間
に行われる。次いで、パイプ10、12を流体圧シリンダに
よってパイプ端40、42間に介在された加熱プレートに押
しつける。熱可塑性材料が溶融し、軸線方向に加えられ
た負荷によって据込まれたときに、各パイプに最初のビ
ードが形成される。
加熱浸透期間パイプ10、12を加熱プレートに押し当て
た状態に保つ。次いで、パイプ10、12をプレートから引
っ込め、プレートを取り除き、パイプ10、12を軸線方向
の負荷で互いに寄せる。溶融材料は、最後の内側ビード
50及び外側ビード52を形成する熱可塑性材料の内側方向
及び外側方向の流れを伴って、パイプ10、12の端部分か
ら据込まれる。
パイプ10、12を冷却させ、最終段階の冷却中軸線方向
の力を取り除くけれども、パイプ10、12は軸線方向の別
々の運動をしないようにされる(第2図)。
各パイプ10、12の(各)強化層34は、熱可塑性材料の
外側方向の流れによって58で元の位置から完全に、或い
は、主として外方に変位される(第5図)。その結果、
溶接接合部には、共通の内側面32に隣接した、強化繊維
がない熱可塑性材料の層60が形成される。
次いで、外側ビード52を除去し(第3図)、電気溶融
継手14をパイプ12に沿って継手14がパイプ10を半分、パ
イプ12を半分覆うまで摺動させることによって、電気溶
融継手14を突合せ融接式溶接接合部に心だしする。
最後に、端末を電気エネルギ源に接続し、電気溶融に
よって継手14がパイプ10、12の端部分に溶接されるのに
十分な時間、加熱要素に電流を流す(第4図)。巻線の
グループ18と巻線のグループ20との間の中央の小帯域
は、溶融されず、短軸の外側ビーズ52を有する。
一例として、アラミド繊維で強化したポリエチレンの
パイプ間で接合を行った。パイプは、外径が125mmであ
り、11.5mmの壁厚(肉厚)を有していた。標準寸法化
(Standard Dimension Ratio:「SDR」)として知られて
いる、外径を壁厚で割ることによって得られる商は11で
あった。内側ビード及び外側ビードは、幅(すなわち、
パイプの長さと平行に測られた)11mmであり、高さ(す
なわち、パイプに対して半径方向に測られた)5mmであ
る。その他の例では、内側ビード及び外側ビードは非常
に小さく、幅3mm、高さ2mmであった。
これらの例では、内方パイプ30及び外層36は、同じ等
級のポリエチレンものである。しかしながら、一般に
は、内方パイプ30及び外層36は、同じ等級又は異なる等
級の同じ熱可塑性樹脂からなっても良いし、同じ熱可塑
性樹脂又は異なる熱可塑性樹脂からなっても良い。
突合せ溶接の性能及び稠度に関する品質管理検査を行
うことが必要である場合には大きなビードが好ましく、
このビードは、検査のため半径方向に取り除かれる。他
方、非常に小さなビードは有利である、というのは、内
側ビードは大きなビード程には製品の流れを妨げないか
らである。また、電気溶融継手を突合せ融接接合部を摺
動させるために外側ビードを除去する必要はなく、継手
はパイプとの間の隙間は、外側ビードを受け入れるほど
大きいであろう。実際は、工学的要求に従っていかなる
寸法のビードをも作ることができる。また、本発明は、
広範囲のパイプ寸法及びSDRのものに適用することがで
き、引き合いに出された例は単に例として述べられたに
過ぎない。
完成した接合では、突合せ融接式溶接接合を行う際の
溶融パイプ材料の流れが、強化繊維がない層60を形成
し、該層60が元の内方パイプ30の厚さとほぼ同じ厚さに
あることを保証する。従って、例えば25バールの圧力に
あるパイプを流れる攻撃的化学物質又は流体は、高い応
力を受ける繊維強化材から遠ざけられたままである。し
かしながら、突合せ継手の外側部分には繊維があるの
で、溶接界面には脆弱になり、このことは、パイプに加
わる軸線方向荷重又は曲げ荷重による脆弱破壊の危険を
生じさせる。
にもかかわらず、本発明によって行われる突合せ接合
は、かかる負荷が限界内に保たれる場合、非常に有用で
ある。
しかしながら好ましい形態の接合(継手)では、電気
溶融継手14が突合せ溶接接合部に亘って溶融溶接され、
このことは接合部を実質的に強化する。継手14は、使用
中突合せ接合部が壊れないようにし、また、非ビード突
合せ接合部の外面に突出する又はかかる外面に近い繊維
を外部環境から護る。もし繊維へのアクセスが許されて
しまうならば、加圧ガス及び液体が毛管作用によって繊
維に沿ってかなりの距離浸透することになる。繊維内の
高圧ガスにより、強化層に沿って結合しなくなってしま
う。このことは、外層をパイプから裂いてしまい、ま
た、管路(配管系統)が減圧された場合、内方パイプ30
の圧潰を生じさせる。
上述した例では、試験により、パイプは125バールで
目に見える接合部の損傷なしに破裂することがわかっ
た。通常、突合せ接合及び/又は電気溶融接合による非
強化ポリエチレンパイプは約30バールでパイプを破裂さ
せてしまう。
第6図は別の実施例を示す。この実施例では、3つの
電気溶融継手70、72、74が、突合せ溶接によって、互い
に端と端とが接合されている。次いで、3つの継手の組
立体を、接合すべき2つのパイプ76、78のうちの一方の
パイプに摺動させる。前のように、2つのパイプ76、78
を突合せ溶接し、接合部は80で示されており、82で示す
内側ビードを残して外側ビードを除去する。
次いで、中央継手72が接合部80を跨ぐように3つの継
手の組立体を接合部80に摺動させた。
前のように、前記溶接式接合によって継手72を各パイ
プ76、78に接合させた。次いで、第6図に示すように、
電気溶融式接合によって、2つの外側継手70、74の各々
を夫々のパイプ76、78に接合させた。
第1図乃至第5図の実施例よりも高い破裂圧が第6図
の実施例によって維持された。

Claims (8)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】突合せ融接式溶接接合によって2つの強化
    された熱可塑性パイプを接合する方法において、各パイ
    プが内側面及び外側面を有し、パイプ壁が内側面及び外
    側面との間に延び、1つ、或いは、2以上の層の強化繊
    維がパイプ壁の外側半部に位置し、熱可塑性材料がパイ
    プの端部分から溶融するように、パイプの端部分を、こ
    れらの間に介在された加熱プレートに押しつけることに
    よってパイプの端部分を加熱し、次いで、加熱プレート
    の除去に続いて、端面を互いに押しつけ、溶融材料を端
    部分から据込み、熱可塑性材料の内外方の流れを引き起
    こして、内側ビード及び外側ビードを形成し、その後、
    パイプを冷却させ、据込み中の前記外方の流れによっ
    て、強化層を元の位置から完全に、或いは、主として外
    方に変位させ、溶接接合部で、強化繊維の層と共通内側
    層との間に、強化繊維がない熱可塑性樹脂の層を形成す
    る、方法。
  2. 【請求項2】突合せ融接式溶接接合部を形成した後、電
    気溶融継手を接合部に位置決めし、電気溶融溶接接合に
    よって電気溶融継手を2つのパイプに接合させるのに十
    分な時間、電気溶融継手を付勢する、請求項1による方
    法。
  3. 【請求項3】外側ビードを除去し、継手を突合せ融接式
    溶接接合部に位置決めする、請求項2による方法。
  4. 【請求項4】継手が、該継手とパイプの外面との間に半
    径方向の隙間を有し、外側ビードが半径方向の隙間に受
    け入れられるほど小さい、請求項2による方法。
  5. 【請求項5】前記電気溶融継手が、端と端とが互いに接
    合された3つの電気溶融継手のうちの中央の継手であ
    り、最も外側の継手を、夫々、電気溶融溶接接合部によ
    って前記パイプに接合させる、請求項2乃至請求項4の
    いずれか一項による方法。
  6. 【請求項6】前記電気溶融継手が突合せ溶接接合部によ
    って互いに接合される、請求項5による方法。
  7. 【請求項7】先ず最初に、電気溶融接合によって前記中
    間の電気溶融継手を前記パイプに接合し、その後、前記
    最も外側の継手を電気溶融溶接接合によって前記パイプ
    に接合する、請求項5又は請求項6による方法。
  8. 【請求項8】請求項1乃至請求項7のいずれか一項によ
    る方法によって接合されたパイプ。
