Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 店頭取引のための携帯用集積装置 技術分野 この発明は、一般にデータ収集のための携帯用装置に関するものである。より特 定的には、この発明は携帯用の、手持形店頭端末のような、クレジットカード取 引を行なうための装置に関するものである。より特定的には、この発明は従来の チェックアウトレジスタから離れてクレジットカートによる販売取引を処理する ために必要なすへての機能を備える装置に関するしのであり、この装置はクレジ ットカード読取機、データエントリーキーボート、バーコードスキャナ、ディス プレイ、レシートプリンタ、取引承認通信機および制御プロセッサを含む。
背景技術 主要な、または唯一の機能が店頭（以下ＰＯ３）端末としての機能であるデータ 収集装置は公知であり、そのような装置は近年、クレジットカードによる販売取 引を容易にする様々な機能を含み、極めて精巧になってきている。たとえば、Ｐ Ｏ８端末は、クレジットカートから顧客情報を読取るための読取機と、製品、そ れらのラベルまたは包装上のバーコードから製品情報を自動的に入力するための バーコードスキャナと、顧客の個人識別番号ならびに他の取引ｔｒｉ　ｔｌおよ びコマンドを入力するためのキーホードと、ディスプレイと、レシートプリンタ と、取引承認を得るための電話またはコンピュータリンクとを備えている。
クレジットカードによる支払いを受付ける商店、特に小売販売または事業に従事 する人々には、より安価でかつより柔軟性のある携帯用ＰＯ３端末を使用して、 顧客の精算をより迅速に行なうためにクレジットカード取引を処理し、ピーク時 の顧客量に備え、チェックアウトカウンタの混雑を緩和し、主な設備費を低減し 、簡単に移転可能な一時的チェックアウトレノスタをさらに設け、現在店頭で使 用することかできない製品のオーダエントり端末のさらなる使用を可能にするこ とか、とりわけ望ましいとわかっている。
しかし、携帯操作を意図された既存のＰＯ８端末は例外なく、携帯用の手持形Ｐ Ｏ３端末によるクレジットカード取引処理を容易にするのに必要な機能すへてを 備えていない。
さらに、既存のＰＯ３端末は依然として手持ちによる操作を容易にするように構 成要素を配置しようとしていないことも明らかである。
たとえば、米国特許第４．７２２．０５４号は、携帯用ユニットを有するＰＯ３ 端末のだめの入カッステムを開示しており、このユニットは、顧客かクレジット カートを通すカード読取機と、顧客か個人識別番号を入力するキーバットとを備 える。その後、顧客は携帯用ユニットを販売カウンタに返し、販売員はそれを中 継機に接続させ、その情報を据付けの制御装置へ送る。購入製品の情報は販売員 によって据付けの制御装置に手動で入力されねばならない。はぼ回し態様で、米 国特許第４．９６７、３６６号に示された取付形でないキーバッドは、顧客の個 人識別番号を遠隔からエントリすることしかできず、他の取引情報は依然として 据付けのＰＯ３許可制御装置に入力されねばならない。
別のＰＯ３端末、Ｆｒａｎｚ、　５ｔ−Ｃ１ｏｕｄ　ＣｅｄｅｘのＥｌｅｃｔｒ ｏｎｉｑｕｅ　Ｓｅｒｇｅ　Ｄａｓｓａｕｌｔによって製造されたモデル−Ｅ２ ３２・エレクトロニック・ペイメント・ターミナル（Ｍｏｄｅｌ　Ｅ２３２　Ｅ ｌｅｃｔｒｏｎｉｃ　Ｐａｙｍｅｎｔ　Ｔｅｒｍｉｎａｌ　）は、磁気カード読 取りのために、キーバッドと、続出画面と、レシートを発行するためのプリンタ とを備える。電子式資金移動認可を意図したものであるので、この装置はバーコ ードスキャナを含まないたけてはなく、購入製品識別の手動エントりを行なうこ ともてきない。
したかって、手持形ＰＯ８端末は広く普及してきたにもかかわらず、据付けのＰ Ｏ８端末から離れた場所で業務を完了させるのに必要な機能をすへて備えるとと もに、手持ちによる使用を容易にするために構成要素を配置したものは提供され ていなかった。
発明の概要 したがって、この発明の目的は、店頭のクレジットカード取引を容易にして、完 了させるのに必要な機能をすへて含む、携帯用の手持形データ収集端末を提供す ることである。
この発明の別の目的は、装置の構成要素配置のバランスかよく、手動操作をはと んと必要としない、上述の装置を提供することである。
この発明のさらに別の目的は、装置の構成要素配置により片手で装置を支持する ことか快適かつ比較的楽になる、上述の装置を提供することである。
既存の先行技術の形式に対する、この発明のこれらのならびに他の目的および利 点は、添付の図面とともに以下の説明からより明らかになり、十分理解されるで あろう。
一般に、この発明の概念を具体化する、店頭取引を処理するための携帯用装置は 、上面、底面ならびに第１の端部および第２の端部を有するハウジングと、クレ ジットカー１・情報を読取るための読取機とを含み、読取機はハウジング内に保 持され、ハウジングの第１の端部と実質的に隣接し、この装置は顧客情報を入力 するための第１のデータエン１へり手段をさらに含み、第１のデータエントり手 段はハウシングに保持され、製品識別情報を走査するためのスキャナをさらに含 み、このスキャナはハウジング内に保持され、ハウジングの第２の端部と実質的 に隣接し、クレソン１−　ノｙ　−Ｆ’　ｌ’ｉ？報、顧客情報および製品識別 情報のうぢ選択されたものを表示するためのディスプレイをさらに含み、このデ ィスプレイはスキャナと実質的に隣接するハウジングの」二面で表示を行なうこ とかできるようにハウジング内に保持され、顧客のレノ−Ｉ−を印刷するだめの プリンタをさらに含み、プリンタはハウジング内に含まれ、ハウシングの第１の 端部よりもハウジングの第２の端部に近く、取引承認を得るために、少なくとも 選択されたクレジットカード情報、顧客情報および製品識別情報を与えるための 手段をさらに含み、この与える手段はハウジング内に保持され、クレジットカー ド情報、顧客情報および製品識別情報を受け、ディスプレイ、プリンタおよび与 えるための手段を制御するためのハウジング内のプロセッサをさらに含む。

この発明を行なうための好ましい実施例図１は、概して番号１０て示される、こ の発明に従った典型的携帯用装置を斜視的に表わし、ＰＯ３端末としてクレジッ トカード業務を完了し、手持ちによる操作を容易にするのに必要な機能をすへて １つの／’％ウジング２０内に一体的に備えている。装置１０は図１および２に おいて全体かよく示され、図２では図１に示される線２−２に実質的に沿って取 られた装置１０の垂直断面図を表わしており、この装置は様々な機能を備えるい くつかの別個の構成要素、すなわち磁気カード読取機４０、第１のデータエン１ 〜リキーホート５０、第２のデータエン１へリキーポー）−６０、ノ）−コート スキャナ７０、ディスプレイ８０、プリンタアセンブリ９０、通信アセンブリ１ １０、およびプロセッサアセンブリ１３０からなる。ハウジング２０は、上面２ １、底面２２、第１の端部２３および第２の端部２４を有する実質的に長方形の ブロック内にすへての構成要素を一体的に保持するのに適当な剛性プラスチック のような適当な材料の成形物または他の許容可能な手段によって形成される。

バーコードスキャナ７０は、ニューヨーク、オレンジバーグのオブティコン・［ 口ｃ、　（Ｏｐｔｉｃｏｎ　Ｉｎｃ、）により製造されるＣＣＤ走査モジュール 、またはニューヨーク、ウェブスターのフォトグラフィック・サイエンシズ・Ｃ ｏｒｐ　（Ｐｈｏｔｏｇｒａｐｌ］ｉｃ　５ｃｉｅｎｃｅｓ　Ｃｏｒｐ）から入 手可能なダイオ−１−レーザ走査モジュールのような、顧客か購入したい商品に 関する情報の人手を容易にするための小型機構であり得る。現在はぼすへての小 売および在庫製品につけられている光学的に走査可能なハーコーＩＣは独特の製 品識別を与える。図６に図式的に示されるように、バーコードスキャナ７０は購 入される製品７３、そのラヘルまたは包装に付されるバーコード７２を照射する ための光走査ビーム７１を発生する。バーコードスキャナ７０は、光走査ビーム ７１がハウジング２０の上方向に傾けられた第２の端部２４から光透過ウィンド ７４（図２および３に最もよく示される）を通って外方向かつ上方向に投じられ るように、適当な手段（図示せず、またはここに関係のない）によって／’％ウ ジング２０内に保持される。この光走査ビーム７１の配向により、下にさらに説 明されるように、装置１０のオペレータは極めて容易に、購入されるすべての製 品を迅速かつ自動的に識別できるようになる。

ｒｒａｎｃｅ）のエプソン・アメリカ・Ｉｎｃ、　（Ｅｐｓｏｎ　Ａｍｅｒｉｃ ａ　ＩｎＣ，）から入手可能なドツトマトリクスプリンタＭ−　１　８　０・ウ ルトう・スモールーサイズト・プリンタ（Ｍｏｄｅｌ　Ｍ−１８０　Ｕｌｔｌａ 　Ｓｍａｌｌ−Ｓｉｚｅｄ　Ｐｒｉｎｔｅｒ　）である。レシートプリンタ９１ は、レシートプリンタ９１から出た用紙か後でさらに説明される用紙出口カバー ９２を直接通るように、ハウジング２０内に保持され、かつここに関係のない手 段によって載置される。レシートプリンタ９１の幅のために、図１および４に示 されるように、ハウジング２０は収容のための側面にわずかに突出した部分９８ を含むことを必要とする。
図１および２に最もよく示される用紙出口カバー９２は、ハウジング２０の上面 ２Ｉの傾けられた部分２５とキーボード６０との間に載置され、装置１０の外に プリンタ用紙９６を向けるためのガイド溝９５を形成する２つの平行フランジ９ ４とのこぎり刃状切刃９７とを含む。図２および図５に最もよく示されるプリン タ用紙ホルダ９３は、ハウシング２０の第２の端部２４の下部と第２の端部２４ のそばのハウシング２０の底面２２との着脱自在のはめ合い保合の輪郭を示すプ レート１００と、プリンタ用紙９６のロールを保持するための抗１０１と、プリ ンタ用紙９６を用紙レシートプリンタ９１の中に最適に向けるために角度をつけ られた用紙ガイド１０２とを含む。複数の互換性プレート１００は、オペレータ が所望するように、かつ図２の細線に示されるように、異なる直径のプリンタ用 紙９６のロールを受けるのに十分な湾曲を持たせて形成される。インタロック１ ０３は、ハウジング２０との着脱自在の必須のはめ合い保合を許容するようにプ レート１００内に一体的に形成される。用紙ガイド１０２の側縁は、プリンタ用 紙９６をレシートプリンタ９１のプリントヘット内により容易に向けるための用 紙エツジガイド１０４が折り重なるのに十分なたけプリンタ用紙９６の幅よりわ ずかに広い。
初期動作の前、およびレシート用紙９１の供給が実質的に切れたときにはいっで も、オペレータはインタロック１０３下でプレート１００上にわずかな圧力を加 え、その動作位置からプリンタ用紙ホルダを取除くことによって、用紙の取付け または補充を行なうことができる。プリンタホルダ９６の新しいロールは抗１０ １の間に位置され、プリンタ用紙９６の自由端は用紙ガイド１０２から挿入され る。
その後、プレート１００はハウジング２０内に再挿入され、プリンタ用紙９６の 自由端をレシートプリンタ９１内に位置決めし、レシートプリンタ９１による用 紙送りを起動させる予め選択されたキーボードボタンが、プリンタ用紙９６かガ イド溝９５を通りのこぎり状の切刃９７から出るまて押下される。そして装置Ｉ Ｏは顧客レシートを印刷できる状態になる。
プロセッサ１３０は、装置１ｏの動作を制御するのに十分な能力を有する任意の 従来の中央処理装置（ＣＰＵ）、マイクロプロセッサまたはマイクロコンピュー タ１３１と、制御プログラムを保持するためのメモリ１３２と、ずへての制御お よびデータ信号を受信し、条件付けするための入力／出力回路１３３とを含む。
通信アセンブリ１１０は、装置１０かクレジットカート取引の承認を得ることを 許容し、代替的にまたは組合わせて、そのような承認を得るいくつかの異なる方 法を行なうのに必要な構成要素を含む。たとえば、装置１０は、従来の無線周波 トランシーバ１１１を含み、これは好ましくはスペクトル拡散変調を使用して、 ベースステーション１１２へ承認に必要な情報を送り、このペースステーション １１２は同様の１ヘランシーハ１１３と、中央処理装置１１４と、メモリ１１５ ど、電話線に接続された入力／出力回路＋１６とを含む。ベースステーション１ １２はクレジットカード確認電話番号をまわし、必要な情報を送り、承認または 非承認を受取り、装置ＩＯへ無線連絡する。所望であれば、さらなるメモリ１１ ７か通信アセンブリ１１０内に含まれてもよく、承認に必要な情報を記憶し、情 報１つずつを読出される、走査される、または装置ｌｏ内に入力されるたびに送 信する代わりに、そのような情報すへてを１−）以トのデータハツチで送信する 。直接的直列データ伝送に適当なデータツヤツクか装置１０およびベースステー ション１１２の双方に設けられ、装置ｌＯおよびベースステーション＋１２か接 続されて、転送を行なってもよい。モデム１１８および電話ジャックか装置ＩＯ 内に取（＝Ｊけられ、装置１０か公衆電話網内に直接接続されて、取引承認を得 てもよい。通信アセンブリ＋１０は、キーボード５０の下の磁気カード読取機４ ０に実質的に隣接するようにハウジング２０内に保持され、かつここには関係し ない手段によって載置される。
装置１０は、顧客レシートの署名を容易にするためのキャディ１４０を含み、署 名したレシートのオペレータ用写しを一時的に保管する。適当なキャディ１４０ の１つか図４に部分展開形式で図示され、そこでは装置１０の幅よりわずかなだ け狭い、５つの面を有する実質的に平面なトレーか示され、そのトレーはハウソ ング２０の底面２２との着脱自在な摺動係合のための４つのコーナフック＋４１ を含み、それによってレン−１・保管室１４２を設ける。キャディ１４０の高さ は製造者か選択することかでき、様々な高さを有するホルダが利用可能であるか 、約３／１６インチ（０，４８ｃｍ）の浅いものか多くの応用に対して十分な保 管容量を与えると思われる。署名された顧客のレソ−１・をホルダ１４１内に挿 入する開Ｄ　Ｉ　４３は、ハウシング２０の第１の端部２３に最も近い端部て形 成され、レソー）・保持用溝付フランジ１４４は、キャディ１４０の好ましく溝 をつけられた上面上に極めて小さい隙間をなして、ハウジング２０の第２の端部 ２４に最も近いキャディ１４０の端部内に一体的に形成される。顧客のレシート か印刷され、署名できる状態になると、装置ｌＯのオペレータはそれをひっくり 返し、顧客のレシートの狭い端部を溝付フランツ１４４の下に滑り込ませ、締ま りはめによってレン−１・を固定し、顧客による署名のために硬くて平坦な面を 与える。持上がったフランジ（図示せず）もまた、ハウジング２０内に一体的に 形成され、それは上面２１からキーポー　１’　５０とキーボード６０との間に 延在し、それによって顧客のレシートは署名のために平坦なキーボード６０上に 位置決めされ、キーホートロ０はそのような署名の間選択的、一時的に非起動状 態にされる。
図４はまた、オペレータか装置１０を携帯するだめの２つの機構を示す。第１の 機構はいくらかＳ形の柔軟な布製（ヘル１−を含む）フック１４６であり、これ はカー１〜ガイド４３と一体的に形成され得、それによりその中心からハウジン グ２０の底面２２に沿って延在する。第２の機構は調節可能な前紡１４７てあり 、その端部は締め捧１４８の両端で固定され、それは布製フック１４６下に入れ られる。

バッテリ１４９のような内蔵エネルギ源かキーボード６０の下にあるレシートプ リンタ９１と通信アセンブリ１１０との間でハウジング２０内に保持され、かつ ここに関係のない手段によって載置される。
装置１０の動作は簡単である。説明のため、プリンタ用紙９６の供給は装置ＩＯ 内に据付けられ、装置１０は取引承認のためにベースステーション１１２へ必要 な情報を送信しており、顧客はクレジットカード取引において購入するいくつか の製品とともにオペレータに接近したと想定する。
まず、装置１０をオペレータの衣服または首から垂直方向に自由に吊下げられる ようにして、オペレータは両手を使用して購入される製品を誘導し、その上にあ るバーコードをハーコー］・スキャナ７０下に通す。この例では約３０度と、’ ｆ）　ｔ）れる、上面２１の上方向勾配部分２５の角度配向は、理想的な角度で スキャナウィンドを位置決めし、製品のハーコー１〜の走査を容易にし、同時に オペレータかディスプレィ８０を見ることかできるようにする。本質的に、この 傾きにより、装置１０を操作する一方てオペレータの手は自由になる。
一度、購入されるすへての製品が走査された場合、およびキーボード入力か必要 とされるが、または所望される動作中の任意の時、オペレータは片手で装置１ｏ をその中央で持上げ、もう一方の手て所望のキーを押すことができる。
装置１０内の構成要素の配置により、重量分布は均一となり、片手で装置ｌＯを 支持することは快適かつ比較的楽になる。
都合のよいときに、しかし大半は操作の完了前が後に、オペレータは、装置ＩＯ を自由に吊下げながら、片手を使って顧客のクレジットカードを磁気カー１〜読 取機４ｏに通し、所望てあればもう一方の手を使ってわずがな横方向の動きから 装置１０を軽く固定させる。
その後、装置１０かペースステーション＋１２から取引承認を受取り、自動的に 顧客のレシートを印刷しようどする間に、オペレータは購入される製品を包装す る。オペレータは顧客のレシートを破り取り、それをレノ−１・牛ヤディ１４０ の一番上にある溝付フランジ１４４下におき、顧客に署名をめる。署名後、２故 重ねの顧客のレノ−１・は取外され、写しか顧客に手渡されるが、または製品の 包装の中に入れられ、オペレータの写しの方は開目１４３から保管室＋４２内に 入れられる。この時点て、オペレータおよび装置１０は次の取引処理を行なえる 状態になっている。
都合のよいときにキャディ１４０は取外され、保管室１４２内のす−＼てのレシ ートを引抜くことができる。
上述のこの発明の局面に加えて、他の代替例および特徴か明らかとなるはずであ る。たとえば、この中で図示されかつ記述された好ましい実施例において、上面 ２１の勾配部分２５の角度は約３０度である。しかし、この発明の精神から逸脱 せずに他の値か可能であることか当業者には明らかであるへきである。また、同 様に当業者にとっては明らかであるように、バーコードスキャナ７０は着脱自在 のワンドを使用することかできる。理解されるへきさらに他の修正は、通信アセ ンブリ１１０に任意の適当な形式の変形を加えることを含み、それはベースステ ーション１１２への照準線かはっきりしている赤外部を含み、さらに通信アセン ブリ１１０をさらなるメモリ１１７だけで代用することを含む。後者の場合、さ らなるメモリ＋１７は取引承認に必要なすへての１ｎ報を保持する。
この発明か、この中でいくつかが明白に記述されてきた変化、修正および変更を 詳細に施される限りでは、この明細書全体を通し記述されるか、または添付の図 面に示されたすべての事柄か例証的であり限定的な意味合いてはないと鼾釈する ことか意図される。したかって、この発明の概念に従って構成された装置、およ びその正当な同等物はこの発明の目的を達成し、そってなければ携帯によるデー タ収集、およびより特定的には携帯用手持形ＰＯ３端末の技術を実質的に改良す ることか明らかである。

Claims (19)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. １．店頭取引を処理するための携帯用装置であって、上面、底面、第１の端部お よび第２の端部を有するハウジングと、 クレジットカード情報を読取るための読取手段とを含み、前記読取手段は前記ハ ウジングの前記第１の端部に実質的に隣接して前記ハウジング内に保持され、顧 客情報を入力するための第１のデータエントリ手段をさらに含み、前記第１のデ ータエントリ手段は前記ハウジングによって保持され、 製品識別情報を走査するためのスキャナ手段をさらに含み、前記スキャナ手段は 前記ハウジングの前記第２の端部と実質的に隣接して前記ハウジング内に保持さ れ、前記クレジットカード情報、前記顧客情報および前記製品識別情報のうちの 選択されたものを表示するためのディスプレイ手段をさらに含み、前記ディスプ レイ手段は、前記スキャナ手段に実質的に隣接して、前記ハウジングの前記上面 で表示することができるように、前記ハウジング内に保持され、 顧客のレシートを印刷するためのプリンタ手段をさらに含み、前記プリンタ手段 は前記ハウジングの前記第１の端部よりも前記ハウジングの前記第２の端部の方 に近く前記ハウジング内に保持され、 取引承認を得るために、前記クレジットカード情報、前記顧客情報および前記製 品識別情報のうちの少なくとも選択されたものを与えるための手段をさらに含み 、前記与えるための手段は前記ハウジング内に保持され、前記クレジットカード 情報、前記顧客情報および前記製品識別情報を受取り、前記ディスプレイ手段、 前記プリンタ手段および前記与えるための手段を制御するための前記ハウジング 内のプロセッサ手段とを含む、携帯用装置。
  2. ２．前記ハウジングの前記第１の端部がオペレータに最も近く、かつ前記ハウジ ングの前記第２の端部が前記オペレータから最も遠く、かつ前記ハウジングの前 記第２の端部の前記上面が上方向に傾けられ、この装置の動作中前記スキャナ手 段による前記製品識別情報の走査を容易にするように、オペレータによって維持 される、請求項１に記載の装置。
  3. ３．前記製品識別情報は、その購入か店頭取引の対象である製品に付されたバー コードに表わされ、前記スキャナ手段はバーコードスキャナである、請求項２に 記載の装置。
  4. ４．前記バーコードスキャナは走査ビームを発生し、前記スキャナ手段は、前記 走査ビームが前記ハウジングの前記上方向に傾けられた第２の端部から外方向か つ上方向に投じられるように、前記ハウジング内に保持される、請求項３に記載 の装置。
  5. ５．装置を前記オペレータに対して着脱自在に固定して、手持ちしていないとき に装置の作動配向の維持を容易にするための携帯手段をさらに含む、請求項１に 記載の装置。
  6. ６．前記携帯手段は前記第１の端部に近接して前記ハウジングに固定された首紐 である、請求項５に記載の装置。
  7. ７．前記携帯手段は前記ハウジングを衣類に固定するための手段を含む、請求項 ５に記載の装置。
  8. ８．前記顧客のレシートは署名され、この装置はさらに署名中に前記顧客のレシ ートを固定し、署名後、前記顧客のレシートの少なくとも一部を一時的に保管す るためのレシートホルダ手段をさらに含む、請求項１に記載の装置。
  9. ９．前記レシートホルダは前記ハウジングの前記底面に取外し可能に固定された 実質的に長方形のキャディであり、前記キャディは署名中前記顧客のレシートの 一方端を着脱自在に固定するための溝付フランジと、署名後、前記顧客のレシー トの少なくとも一部を受け、一時的に保管するための保管室と、前記顧客のレシ ートを前記保管室内に挿入するための前記キャディ内の開口とを含む、請求項８ に記載の装置。
  10. １０．前記顧客のレシートは、署名され、この装置はさらに前記顧客のレシート がその一番上で署名される、実質的に平坦な外面を有する第２のデータエントリ 手段と、署名中前記顧客のレシートを固定するためのレシートホルダ手段とをさ らに含み、前記レシートホルダ手段は、前記第２のデータエントリ手段の少なく とも一方端縁に近接して前記ハウジングに載置され、署名中前記顧客のレシート の少なくとも一方端を着脱自在に固定するためのフランジを含む、請求項１に記 載の装置。
  11. １１．前記ディスプレイ手段は、前記オペレータに面した前記ハウジングの前記 第１の端部の前記上方向に傾げられた上面の側で見ることができるように、前記 ハウジング内に保持される、請求項２に記載の装置。
  12. １２．前記ディスプレイ手段は液晶ディスプレイである、請求項１１に記載の装 置。
  13. １３．前記ハウジングは前記プリンタ手段のための用紙供給を保持し、その用紙 を前記プリンタ手段内に向けるための着脱自在のプリンタ用紙ホルダ手段を含む 、請求項１に記載の装置。
  14. １４．前記プリンタ用紙ホルダは、前記ハウジングの前記第２の端部の部分と前 記第２の端部に近い前記ハウジングの前記底面の部分とを噛み合い係合させるよ うな輸郭を示すプレートを含み、前記プレートは予め選択された最大直径の前記 用紙供給の実質的に円筒形のロールを保持するように湾曲され、前記プレートと 作動的に連係して、用紙を前記プリンタ手段内に向けるための実質的に平面の用 紙ガイド手段をさらに含む、請求項１３に記載の装置。
  15. １５．前記与えるための手段は、クレジットカード取引承認を得るための装置内 のトランシーバと通信するための手段を含む、請求項１に記載の装置。
  16. １６．前記通信するための手段は、クレジットカード取引承認を得るための前記 装置内のトランシーバと通信するための無線周波トランシーバを含み、前記通信 するための手段は前記第１のデータエントリ手段に近接して前記ハウジング内に 保持される、請求項１５に記載の装置。
  17. １７．前記通信するための手段は前記クレジットカード情報を受けるための第１ のメモリ手段を含み、前記通信するための手段は前記第１のデータエントリ手段 に近接して前記ハウジング内に保持され、前記メモリ手段の内容をクレジットカ ード取引承認を得るための前記装置へ直接導体を通して転送を行なうためのプラ グ手段をさらに含む、請求項１５に記載の装置。
  18. １８．前記与えるための手段は、クレジットカード取引承認を得るための公衆電 話網を介して直接通信するための手段を含み、前記直接通信するための手段は前 記公衆電話網への直接接続のためのモデムおよびプラグ手段をさらに含む、請求 項１に記載の装置。
  19. １９．前記クレジットカード情報はクレジットカードに付された磁気媒体で符号 化され、前記読取手段は磁気カード読取機であり、前記第１のデータエントリ手 段はキーボードであり、さらなる顧客情報を入力するための第２のデータエント リ手段と、前記第１のデータエントリ手段および前記第２のデータエントリ手段 のうち１つに近接して前記ハウジング内に保持される内蔵エネルギ源とをさらに 含む、請求項１に記載の装置。
