【発明の詳細な説明】 ［０００１］ 本発明は、吸収性物品、−層詳しくは、着用者の身体、
特に会陰に密着し易く排泄物をうまく移動させて収容す
る性能を改善した改良密着式吸収性物品に関する。
［０００２］ 現在、使い捨て式の吸収性物品が乳幼児、小児、成人の
失禁看護に広く用いられており、再使用式布製吸収性物
品をほぼ駆逐している。代表的な使い捨て式吸収性物品
は三層複合構造となっており、トップシート材料、バッ
クシート材料およびそれらの間の吸収性材料からなる。
［０００３］ 現行の吸収性物品に伴う１つの問題は、排泄物にさらさ
れる物品内の表層領域の量である。たとえば、現行の乳
児用おむつは股のところでかなり広く切り取ってあって
排尿、排便処理を助けるようになっている。その結果、
過剰な材料が脚の間に集まり、着用者にとって極めて不
快な状態となる。この材料の集中度はおむつの縁の弾力
性によってさらに大きくなる。その結果、トップシート
が全陰部と密着するのが妨げられ、身体排泄口とトップ
シートの間の排泄物の流れの処理と収容が低下し、これ
により、また、トップシート表面に沿って、そして、着
用者の皮膚に向かって排泄物が広がることになる。

裂けてしまい、吸収能力を低下させることになるという
ことである。
［０００５］ 脚間の過剰な材料に伴うまた別の問題は、股に寄り集ま
った材料に対して脚が激しく動くことによって、股から
物品が引きずり降ろされ、さらに材料を寄り集め、他の
皮膚部も排泄物にさらされてしまうということである。
［０００６］ また別の問題は、脚間の過剰な材料が股で物品の変位す
なわち移動を許し、皮膚が排泄物に触れる問題をさらに
悪化させてしまうということにある。
［０００７］ これらの問題は、皮膚炎、皮膚水化、面倒な浄化作業の
原因となる。
［０００８］ 本発明の一実施例では、トップシート周縁寸法を有する
液体透過性トップシートと、トップシート周縁寸法より
も大きいバックシート周縁寸法を有する液体不透過性バ
ックシートとを包含する使い捨て式吸収性物品が提供さ
れる。トップシート周縁部およびバックシート周縁部は
相互に結合されて間に排泄物収容ポケットを形成する。
液体透過性トップシートは、開口を有し、着用者の身体
にほぼ完全に接触するようになっている。
［０００９］ 本発明の別の実施例では、液体透過性トップシート、液
体不透過性バックシート、トップシートとバックシート
の間にある吸収材、トップシートの側部付近に位置する
一対の収容フラップおよびトップシートの側部付近に位
置した一対の側部フラップを包含する使い捨て式吸収性
物品が提供される。
［００１０］ 本発明のさらに別の実施例では、トップシート周縁寸法
を有するトップシートバックシート周縁寸法を有するバ
ックシートおよびトップシートとバックシートの間にあ
る吸収性構造を包含する使い捨て式吸収性物品が提供さ
れる。このバックシートは膨張可能であり、排泄物を受
け入れたとき、バックシートはそれを収容するように膨
張する。
［００１１］ 本発明の上記および他の特徴、目的ならびにそれを達成
する方法は、添付図面と関連した実施例についての以下
の記載からより一層明らかになるであろうし、発明それ
自体もより良く理解して貰えよう。
［００１２］ 本発明の吸収性物品は、乳幼児用おむつ、成人失禁看護
用着衣、女性用製品等として利用できる。本説明の目的
のために、吸収性物品は、約１２〜２４ポンド（５，４
〜１０．８キログラム）の体重の乳児に着けるように設
計した乳児用おむつとして説明するカミ本発明の特徴お
よび原理を他の乳児サイズに応用できることは了解され
たい。図１および図２に示すように、本発明の使い捨て
式おむつ１０は従来のおむつ１２のサイズよりもかなり
小さい。特に、本発明のおむつ１０の全長ＬＯは約１４
〜１５インチ（３５，５６〜３８．１０センチメートル
）であり、従来のおむつ１２の全長ＬＯは約１７〜１８
インチ（４３，１８〜４５７２センチメートル）である
。おむつ１０の全幅ＷＯは約５〜８インチ（１２７０〜
２０．３２センチメートル）であり、従来のおむつ１２
の全幅ＷＯは約１２〜１３インチ（３０，４８〜３３．
０２センチメートル）である。おむつ１０の吸収性構造
１４の全幅ＷＡＯは約４〜フインチ（１０，１６〜１７
．７８センチメートル）であり、従来のおむつ１２の吸
収性構造の全幅ＷＡＯは約１０〜１１インチ（２５，４
〜２７．９４センチメートル）である。おむつ１０の股
のところの吸収材の幅ＷＡＣは約２〜３インチ（５，０
８〜７．６２センチメートル）であり、従来のおむつ１
２の股のところの吸収材の幅ＷＡＣは約５〜６インチ（
１２７〜１５．２４センチメートル）である。
［００１３］ これら２つのおむつのサイズを比較するため、それらを
乳児に普通に着ける方法の比較を図３〜図６に示す。図
３、図４において、従来のおむつ１２は約１２〜２４ポ
ンド（５，４〜１０．８キログラム）の体重を持つ乳児
に着けている。
図示のように、従来おむつ１２のトップシート１６、吸
収材１８およびバックシート２０は股のところに寄せ集
められ、股から離れて股２４とおむつ１２の間に空間２
２を形成している。この空間２２の形成に寄り、排泄物
の処理および収容が損なわれる。排泄物はトップシート
１６に沿って広がり、乳児が動く間に大きな皮膚面積と
接触する。トップシート１６、吸収材１８およびバック
シート２０が股２４に集まると、脚の動きにつれて吸収
材が裂け、おむつが股肉でしおれ、おむつの変位を生じ
させる可能性がある。
［００１４］ 図５、図６を参照して、本発明のおむつ１０のトップシ
ート２６、吸収性構造１４およびバックシート３０は、
トップシート２６が特に股２４のところで身体にほぼ完
全に接触し、空間２２をほぼ排除するかあるいは最小限
に抑えるように股２４内に位置している。トップシート
がへその下方から腰のくびれな部分まで股２４を通って
位置するかあるいは測った線に沿って身体と接触すると
いうことは、トップシート２６に設けたかあるいはそれ
と組み合わせた開口または糞便収容装置を肛門に対して
位置決めし、トップシート２６の下あるいは装置内に糞
便を収容できるようにする点で重要である。また、排尿
制御または管理の際に、尿がトップシート２６に直ちに
浸透し、尿がトップシート表面に沿って流れないように
することも重要である。好ましいトップシーＩ・２６と
身体の接触状態を得るには２つの方法があり、その１つ
では、股寸法に適合するようにトップシート２６を切断
あるいは弾性的に狭くしており、第２の方法では、吸収
材の股幅を約２〜３インチ（５，０８〜７．６２センチ
メートル）としておむつが脚の間に適合するようにして
いる。
［００１５］ 図７、図８を参照して、おむつ１０は、大まかに言えば
、　開口３８を設けた液体透過性トップシート２６と、
液体不透過性バックシート３０と、これらの間に位置し
た吸収性構造１４とからなる。
［００１６１ トップシート２６は前部長手方向端４４、後部長手方向
端４６および側部４８で構成された周縁部４０を有する
。同様に、バックシート３０は前部長手方向端５０、後
部長手方向端５２および側部５４で構成された周縁部４
２を有する。周縁部４２は周縁部４０よりも大きい周縁
長または寸法を有する。周縁部４２は、トップシート２
６をバックシー）３０より幅狭く、あるいは、バックシ
ート３０よりも短く、あるいは、これら両方の状態に作
ることによって周縁部４０よりも周縁寸法を持つように
作ることができる。トップシート２６をそれぞれの周縁
部４０．４２に沿ってバックシート３０に結合しなとき
、間には排泄物収容ポケット５６が形成される（図９参
照）。トップシート２６およびバックシート３０は任意
適当な方法、たとえば、接着剤接合、熱接合または超音
波接合の線（単数または複数）によって結合あるいは取
り付けることができ、また、その周縁またはそのやや内
側で、たとえば、周縁から約１／８〜３／８インチ（３
，１７５〜９．５２５ミリメートル）またはそれ以上の
距離内側で結合しても良い。
［００１７） 吸収性構造１４は、トップシート２６とバックシート３
０の間に位置し、任意適当な手段、たとえば、接着剤の
線または塗布面によってバックシート３０に結合あるい
は取り付けられる。次に、吸収性構造１４とトップシー
ト２６の間に排泄物収容ポケット５６が構成される。排
泄物収容ポケット５６は少なくとも約１５０立方センチ
メートルの排泄物を受け入れ、収容するように設計しで
ある。
［００１８］ おむつ１０上には、二対のフラップも設けてあり、これ
らのフラップは収容フラップ５８と側部フラップ６０と
に区別する。本開示の文脈内で、「設ける」、「配置す
る」、「設置する」等の用語は、最小限、１つの要素を
別の要素と一体に形成すること、あるいは、１つの要素
が別の要素に結合した、あるいは、それと−緒に置いた
、あるいは、その付近にある別体の構造であり得るとい
うことを意味する。側部フラップ６０はバックシート３
０の側部５４またはトップシート２６の側部４８あるい
は両方の延長部で形成しても良いし、バックシート３０
またはトップシート２６あるいは両方に取り付けた別体
の構造要素であっても良い。好ましくは、側部フラップ
６０は股領域での空気循環を向上させるために蒸気透過
性であると共に液体不透過性でもある材料作るが、望む
ならば、液体、蒸気両方に対して不透過性の材料あるい
は液体、蒸気の両方に対して透過性の材料で作っても良
い。側部フラップ６０は、また、その選定した部分を液
体透過性として、残りの部分を液体不透過性としても良
い。
［００１９１ 収容フラップ５８は側部フラップ６０の内側、すなわち
、側部フラップ６０よりも長手方向中心線６２（図８）
に接近して位置している。この中心線６２は吸収性構造
１４を通って図示しである力飄　トップシート２６、バ
ックシート３０およびおむつ１０の中心線としても考え
られる。収容フラップ５８は液体透過性トップシート２
６の一体の延長部であっても良いし、側部フラップ６０
の内側でトップシート２６に取り付けあるは結合された
別体の液体透過性要素であっても良い。フラップ５８．
６０は開口３８の側部を境しており、収容フラップ５８
は側部フラップ６０よりも開口３８に近い。収容フラッ
プ５８は、まノご、その選定した部分を液体透過性とし
、残りの部分を液体不透過性としても良い。フラップ５
８も液体不透過性であったも良い。

一実施例において１、収容フラップ５８はＩ・ツブシー
ト２６の上面６４に取りイｉけた、あるいは、接着した
別体の要素であり、側部フラップ６０はトップシート２
６とバックシート３００間に取り封目な、あるいは、接
着した別体の要素である。収容フラップ５８は各末端縁
部６８に少なくとも１つの弾性部材６６を包含し、好ま
しくは、各末端縁部６８に少なくとも２つまたはそれ以
上の弾性部材６６を包含する。弾性部材６６は伸ばした
状態あるいは弾性的に収縮できる状態でそれぞれの末端
縁部６８内に設置あるいは取り付けてあり、弾性部材６
６を級めたときに、収容フラップ５８は図７、図９に示
すように寄り集まった、あるいはひだの付いた状態にな
る。
［００２１］ 同様にして、側部フラップ６０はその末端縁部７２内に
延びた、あるいは、弾性的に収縮できる状態で取り付け
た弾性部材７０を有する。図８に示すように、両側部フ
ラップが同一であるから一方の側部フラップ６０につい
て言及すると、各側部フラップ６０は幅の狭い端部７６
を包含し、中間のフラップ部分７８がこれら端部７６の
間に好ましくは曲線を描いて延びており、膜用カットア
ウト部７４を受け入れ、それに一致するようになってい
る。
［００２２３ 本発明の重要な局面の１つは、側部フラップ６０をバッ
クシー）３０に設ける種々の方法にある。側部フラップ
６０をバックシート３０に取り付けるために位置決めす
る１つの方法では、フラップ６０は、まず、プリーツを
付けるかあるいは弾性的に寄せ集め、プリーツの付いた
状態あるいは寄り集まった状態でバックシート３０に取
り付けるかあるいは結合する力へバックシート３０には
プリーツを付けたり、あるいは、それを寄せ集めたりし
ないようにする。こうすることによって、中間フラップ
部分７８の全体的な平らに伸ばされたときの長さはバッ
クシート３０上のＡ点とＢ点の間の平らに伸ばされたと
きの距離より長くなる。ここで、Ａ点、Ｂ点はバックシ
ート３０上の中間フラップ部分７８の隔たった端の直角
の突起である。したがって、平らな面に向かってバラク
シート３０を押圧して平らに伸ばしたとき、各中間フラ
ップ部分７８は弾性部材７０によってひだの付いた外観
を呈することになる。
［００２３］ フラップ６０をバックシート３０に取り付ける別の方法
は、プリーツを付けたあるいは、弾性化したフラップ６
０を伸ばした状態に維持し、それをバックシート３０に
取り付け、緩めたときにバックシート３０にプリーツを
付けたり、あるいは、それを寄せ集めたりすることであ
る。
［００２４］ 所望に応じて、側部フラップ６０は、幅の狭い端部７６
をなしに設計しても良いし、弾性部材７０をおむつ１０
の全長に取り付けても良い。その後、弾性部材７０の選
定部分を、それを作っている材料に応じて熱付与その他
の処理によって非弾性化するしても良い。
［００２５］ 図７〜図１０を参照して、使い捨て式おむつ１０は、ま
た、前部パネル３２、後部パネル３４の長手方向端部に
ウェスト弾性部を包含しても良い。図１０に示す一実施
例では、後部ウェスト弾性部８０のみが後部パネル３４
に結合してありこれはバックシート３０とトップシート
２６の間に結合しても良いし、バックシート３０にのみ
結合してより大きな弾性引っ込み作用を可能としても良
い。ウェスト弾性部８０は伸ばした、あるいは、弾性的
に収縮できる状態で後部パネル３４に接着あるいは結合
し、緩めたときに、後部パネル３４の一部が寄せ集めら
れるようにしである。
［００２６］ 一対の伸縮可能な耳部８２が後部パネル３４の対向した
長手方向側部に取り付けてあり、これらの耳部は後部ウ
ェスト弾性部８０と一致していると好ましい。
伸縮性耳部８２は互いに同じであるから、以下の説明で
は、１つだけの伸縮性耳部にのみ触れる。伸縮性耳部８
２は伸縮性部材８４と伸縮性バンド８６とからなる。伸
縮性バンド８６は部材８４に連結してあって耳部８２の
応力破壊を防ぐと共に、耳部８２の中央に弾性補強を追
加するようになっている。伸縮性部材８４および伸縮性
バンド８６は、共に、バックシート３０、トップシート
２６の間に結合してあり、バンド８６がバックシート３
０上に配置しであると好ましい。伸縮性部材８４または
伸縮性バンド８６あるいはこれら両方は伸長接合した積
層体であっても良い。
［００２７］ 好ましくは、耳部８２は、伸縮性部材８６および伸縮性
バンド８４の組み合わせと同じ伸び特性を有する弾性あ
るいは伸縮性材料の単一ストリップとして設計製作され
る。
［００２８］ 着用者にこの使い捨て式おむつ１０を着け、保持するた
めに、フック・ループ式止め装置が設けられ、これは伸
縮性部材８４のバンド８６と反対側に結合したフック材
料のタブ８８と、バックシート３０に結合したループ材
料のパネル９０とを備える。フック・ループ式ファスナ
が好ましいのであるが、他の止め手段、たとえば、テー
ツ、スナップ・ファスナ等も使用できる。
［００２９］ 一実施例において、バックシート３０は液体不透過性材
料、好ましくは、約１０ミルの厚さを有するポリエチレ
ン・フィルムで作られるが、０．５０以上の厚さが機能
的である。バックシート３０はほぼ扁平である。すなわ
ち、プリーツあるいは微小クレープのない形であり、ト
ップシート２６の周縁寸法よりも大きい周縁寸法を有す
る。バックシート３０およびトップシート２６を結合し
て排泄物収容ポケット５６を形成するに際して、バック
シート３０の周縁部４２をトップシート２６の周縁部４
０に結合するように内側に引っ張る必要がある。この要
領でバックシート３０を形成する１つの方法は、バック
シート３０を所定の形状寸法の成形型内で真空成形して
好ましい形状を有する排泄物収容ポケット５６を形成す
ることである。
［００３０１ 別の実施例では、排泄物収容ポケット５６の付加的な使
用可能な容積は、（１）吸収性コアを貫いて、あるいは
、それのまわりに排泄物を通過させる手段、たとえば、
吸収材に約１．５インチ（３，８１センチメートル）の
後幅、約１インチ（２，５４センチメートル）の前幅お
よび約４インチ（１０，１６センチメートル）の傾斜側
部長を持つ台形の孔を設け、（２）トップシートおよび
吸収性コアよりも大きい寸法を有し、バックシート３０
と吸収性コアの間に形成してあり、吸収材とバックシー
トの間で排泄物を収容する空間を有する、バックシート
３０のような外側バリヤ・シートを設けることによって
設けられる。
［００３１］ バックシート３０を用いてポケット５６に付加的な使用
可能容積を設ける他の手段としては、（ａ）容易に膨張
可能なエンボス加工したフィルムを用いること、（ｂ）
バックシートを低分子量で容易に伸ばせるフィルム、た
とえば、Ｋｒａｔｏｎまたはエチルビニルアセテート（
ＥＶＡ）で作ること、（Ｃ）ティッシュにクレープを入
れてクレープ・ワラディングを作るのと同じ方法で普通
のフィルムをクレープ加工すること、（ｄ）バックシー
トあるいはバックシートの一部のみに機械方向あるいは
横断方向にプリーツを形成して膨張し易くすること、（
ｅ）バックシートの股領域にふくらみを熱形成すること
がある。あるいは、トップシート２６を伸縮性材料で作
り、バックシート３０よりも短くあるいは幅狭くもしく
はこれら両方の状態に切断し、周縁をバックシート３０
に結合して付加的な使用可能容積を設けるようにするこ
ともできる。
［００３２］ 排泄物を処理する全容積は少なくとも１５０立方センチ
メートルでなければならない。バックシー）３０で要求
される膨張量は、所望の排泄物汚染低減程度、処理しよ
うとしている排泄物の体積および着用者が座っていると
きの吸収材１４に設けられた孔の容積に依存する。たと
えば、通常は６０立方センチメートル以下の排泄物が一
方向へ押し出されるので、吸収材の孔の容積が約２０立
方センチメートルであるならば、バックシートの膨張で
約４０立方センチメートルを処理しなければならない。
［００３３］ この容積を得るためには、実験によれば、バックシート
の所望膨張範囲は約２０〜１００％でなければならない
ことがわかった。正確な量は、広範囲にわたる変数、た
とえば、排便中の乳児の姿勢、乳児の着衣の緊迫度、排
泄物の粘度、身体にトップシートが加える圧力、糞便の
膨張力に対する材料の抵抗、４身体から排泄物が押し出
される速度および吸収性材料の硬さに依存する。１イン
チ幅あたり約２５グラム以下の力の下で約２０％以上容
易に膨張する材料が適切であり、通常の体積の糞便を収
容するに充分に膨張することができる。
［００３４］ 排泄物管理の別の方法は、通常の膨張しないバックシー
トを吸収材ならびにそれに設けた孔と組み合わせ、孔の
容積を約２０〜６０立方センチメートルとすることであ
る。トップシートにも排泄物を通過させるに充分な孔（
単数または複数）を設け、トップシートをおむつの前端
から背部まで股な通る線に沿って身体にほぼ完全に接触
させることも必要である。孔はトップシートと吸収材の
間に配置した不透明な材料で覆うと良い。本開示の文脈
内で、「はぼ完全に接触する」という表現およびその変
形表現は、最小限、トップシート２６が身体に充分に接
近していてトップシート２６の孔と肛門とのずれを防ぐ
ことを意味するものである。トップシート２６の上面、
すなわち、身体に向いた表面の大部分は着用者の皮膚と
接触するが、トップシート２６の残りの部分は、乳児の
身体の自然な割れ目やひだ、たとえば、尻の割れ目や内
股の付は根の皮膚のひだを覆うことになる。
当然、トップシート２６が複数の小孔あるいは単一の大
きな開口を有する場合には、トップシート２６がこれら
の孔や開口のところでは皮膚と接触しないことになる。
「はぼ完全に接触する」ということは、トップシート２
６の皮膚と接触するパーセントとしても定義でき、たと
えば、トップシート２６の約７０％から約１００％にや
や足りない程度までが乳児の皮膚と接触することを意味
する。
［００３５］ バックシート３０は適当に液体不透過性であるか、ある
いは、そうなるように処理された他の材料で作っても良
い。その例として、ポリプロピレンまたはポリオレフィ
ン・コポリマー　たとえば、エチレンビニルアセテート
、エチレンメチルアクリレート、エチレンエチルアクリ
レート、ポリ塩化ビニル等で作ったメルトブロウン材料
またはフィルム材料がある。他の材料としては、上記タ
イプの材料のスパンボンデツド単層、スパンボンデツド
、メルトブロウン材料の２層あるいはスパンボンデツド
・メルトブロウン・スパンボンデツド材料の３層があり
、これらは液体不透過性となるように適当に処理あるい
は被覆される。これら同じ材料を積層体形態で得ること
もできる。スパンボンデツド材料はバックシート３０に
布状の感触を与えるという付加的な特徴も有する。
［００３６］ 図８を参照して、バックシート３０は液体不透過性ばか
りでなく、蒸気透過性でもある材料で作っても良い。あ
るいは、バックシート３０は長手方向端５０付近に設け
た通気性パネル９２を持っていても良い。図８に示すよ
うに、通気性パネル９２およびループ・パネル９０は同
一平面にあっても良く、そうすることによって、ループ
・パネル９０が通気性パネル９２のための外層となる。
しかしながら、パネル９２．９０が分離している、すな
わち、同一平面にないことも好ましいかも知れない。ル
ープ・パネル９０にある複数のループはおむつの外面で
の凝結を低減する助けとなる伝熱要素として作用し得る
。
［００３７］ 他の設計としては、後部長手方向端５２付近あるいは後
部長手方向端５２、前部長手方向端５０の両方に隣接し
てバックシート３０にパネル９２を設けるということも
ある。通気性パネル９２は少なくとも約２０００グラム
／平方メートル／２４時間の水蒸気透過度（ＷＶＴＲ）
を有する。好ましくは、パネル９２は少なくとも約４０
００グラム／平方メートル／２４時間のＷＶＴＲを有し
、−層好ましくは、少なくとも約５０００グラム／平方
メートル／２４時間のＷＶＴＲを有する。通気性パネル
９２は、好ましくは、約３０ｃｍ２の有効通気面積を有
し、好ましい範囲の有効通気面積は約２０〜６００ｃｍ
２である。ここで用いる「有効通気面積」なる用語は、
粒状、繊維状その他の形態を問わず、通気性を妨げなり
、通気性を損なったりするいかなる要素、物質その他の
構造を持たない通気性パネル９２の面積を言う。
［００３８］ 通気性パネル９２は、微孔性ぽりまあ・フィルム、たと
えば、日本国東京のＭｉｔｚｕｉ　Ｔｏａｔｓｕ　Ｃｈ
ｅｍｉｃａｌ　Ｉｎｃ、の製造するＧｒａｄｅ　ＴＭＰ
−１フイルム、合成ポリマー。
繊維からなるスパンボンデツドあるいはメルトブロウン
・ウェブのような不織布材料、あるいは、微小繊維から
なるぼりゃ層と粗大繊維からなる補強層とを包含するカ
レンダ加工複合繊維ウェブがら作られ得る。バリヤ層と
補強層はバリヤ繊維に補強繊維を融着あるいは接着する
ことによって相互に強固に接合される。補強層は複合ウ
ェブの外向き面に一致するように形成される。望むなら
ば、ループ・パネル９０を通気性パネル９２の補強層と
しても良い。ここでの目的のためには、繊維は、約３ミ
クロン以下の直径である場合には、「微小」であり、約
１５ミクロン以上の直径であれば、「粗大」である。
［００３９］ 通気性パネル９２は、約５〜２５センチメートルの範囲
内の、長手方向中心線６２に対する横方向寸法を有し、
約３〜１５センチメートルの範囲内の長手方向寸法を有
する。パネル９２は吸収性構造１４の横方向寸法の約１
０％〜約５０％にわたって延びている。
［００４０］ トップシート２６は、液体透過性、親水性あるいは疎水
性材料、たとえば、合成ポリマー・フィラメントからな
るスパンボンデツド・ウェブ、スパンレース・ウェブ、
スパンボンデツド・メルトブロウン・ウェブ、メルトブ
ロウン・ウェブ合成ポリマー繊維からなるボンデツド・
カーデッド・ウェブであり得る。適当な合成ポリマーと
しては、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエステル
、ナイロンがある。一実施例では、ポリマー・フィラメ
ントは、約１．５〜７ｄの範囲のデニールを有し、好ま
しくは、約１．２〜６．Ｏｄの範囲のデニールを有する
。これらのフィラメントは、約１０〜３５ｇｍ／ｍ２（
ｇｓｍ）の範囲内の坪量、好ましくは、約２０ｇ５ｍの
坪量を有する層を形成するように配置される。トップシ
−ト２６は約０．０１４０〜０゜０４３２センチメート
ルの範囲内、好ましくは約、０１８０〜領　３０５セン
チメートルの範囲内のばら厚さを有する。ばら厚さは約
０．０１４ｐｓｉ　　（０，０７ｋｇ／ｃｍ２）（７）
拘束圧力の下で測定される。
［００４１］ トップシート２６は、また、表面活性剤の添加によって
湿潤可能とされたＫｒａｔｏｎメルトブロウン／ポリプ
ロピレン・スパンボンド・ストレッチ・ボンデツド積層
体、表面活性剤の添加で湿潤可能とされた、日本国大阪
のＫａｎｅｂｏ　５ｙｎｔｈｅｔｉｃ　Ｆｉｂｅｒｓ　
Ｃｏｍｐａｎｙで製造されたもののようなポリウレタン
・スパンボンデツド材料ゴム、ラテックスゴム、ポリウ
レタン、Ｋｒａｔｏｎ等のエラストマーから作り、流体
通過可能なように細孔を穿ったエラストマー・フィルム
、流体通過可能なように細孔を穿ったポリウレタン発泡
体、および、弾性体その他の手段、たとえば、熱収縮性
繊維を用いて寄せ集めて弾性伸縮材料に作った不織布で
あり得る。
［００４２］ 収容フラップ５８および側部フラップ６０はトップシー
ト２６と同じ材料で作っても良いし、それと一体に形成
しても良いし、任意適当な要領でトップシート２６に結
合した別体の構造からなるものであっても良い。
［００４３］ 各収容フラップ５８は、好ましくは、約０．４オンス／
平方ヤード（ｏｓｙ）の坪量を有する単層からなり、こ
れを折り重ねて約０．８ｏｓｙの坪量を有する複層フラ
ップとする。たとえば、収容フラップ５８は、好ましく
は、ポリプロピレンポリエチレン、ポリエステル、ナイ
ロン等で作られたスパンボンド、ボンデツド・カーデッ
ド・ウェブあるいはスパンレース材料のような不織布の
少なくとも１層からなる。この材料は、Ｔｒｉｔｏｎま
たはＡｅｒｏｓｏｌ　ＯＴのような界面活性剤を用いて
湿潤性を与えられる。このような収容フラップの一例は
、エラストマー材料を覆って０．４ｏｓｙのＴｒｉｔｏ
ｎ処理したスパンボンド・ポリプロピレンの層を折り畳
んで２層の扁平材料を作ることによって製造される。
［００４４］ 弾性部材６６は、天然ゴム、合成ゴムあるいは熱可塑性
エラストマー・ポリマ−のような任意適当な弾性材料で
あり得、その単独または複合糸またはリボンであり得る
。オプションとして、これらの材料は熱収縮性あるいは
熱弾性化可能であっても良い。好ましくは、弾性部材６
６は、各々、４７０　Ｄｅｃｉｔｅｘ　Ｌｙｃｒａ　　
（Ｄｅｃｉｔｅｘは１０．０００メ一トル長の単一系の
ダラム重量である）の２本のストランドからなり、極限
伸び９０％で、約２５〜７５グラムの張力を生じる。こ
の材料によれば、収容フラップ５８はその伸びた状態の
長さの約３０〜８０％から収縮できる。−層好ましくは
、この材料は、極限伸びの９０％で１分間のホールド時
間後に約５０グラムの力を有し、初期長さの少なくとも
約５０％まで収縮する能力を有する。
［００４５］ 側部フラップ６０は、好ましくは、０．８ｏｓｙスパン
ボンデツド・ポリプロピレンの２層からなり、液体透過
性、液体不透過性あるいは液体不透過性蒸気透過性にい
ずれであっても良い。たとえば、側部フラップ６０は、
ポリプロピレンポリエチレン、ポリエステルまたはナイ
ロンのようなポリマーで作ったスパンボンデツド、ボン
デツド・カーデッド・ウェブまたはスパンレースド材料
のような不織布の少なくとも１層からなり得る。この材
料は、好ましくは、非湿潤性（疎水性）である。この０
．８ｏｓｙ側部フラップは０．８ｏｓｙスパンボンデツ
ド・ポリプロピレンの層からなり、これをエラストマー
材料上に配置して２層フラップ材料を作る。
［００４６１ 弾性部材７０は弾性部材６６と同じ材料で作ることがで
きる。好ましくは、弾性部材７０は、それぞれ、６２０
Ｄｅｃｉｔｅｘ　Ｌｙｃｒａの３本のストランドからな
り、極限伸びの９０％の伸びで、約５０〜１５０グラム
の張力を生じる。この材料によれば、側部フラップ６０
はその伸びた状態の長さの約３０％〜約８０％収縮でき
る。−層好ましくは、この材料は極限伸びの９０％で１
分間のホールド時間後に約５０グラムの力を有する。
［００４７］ 伸縮性耳部８２は、弾性あるいは伸縮性を有する任意の
適当な材料で作ることができる。その材料のいくつかの
例としては、間にＫｒａｔｏｎまたはポリウレタンベ−
ス・ポリマーのようなメルトブロウン弾性材料の１層を
有する、約０．４ｏｓｙポリプロピレン・スパンボンド
の２つの寄せ集め可能な層からなるストレッチ・ボンデ
ツド積層体がある。エラストマー層を伸長させてから、
ポリプロピレンの２層をそこに結合する。層を緩めたと
き、これら２つのポリプロピレン層は寄り集まる。他の
ストレッチ・ボンデツド積層体は、ｋｒ　ａ　ｔ　ｏｎ
またはＬｙｃｒａ、ゴム、Ｐｅｂａｘウレタンあるいは
その組み合わせのようなウレタンのエラストマー・リボ
ンまたは糸のようなエラストマー・フィルムから作るこ
とができる。これら伸縮性耳部は、また、伸縮可能なウ
レタン発泡材あるいはＫａｎｅｂｏの製造するものに類
似したポリウレタン・スパンボンド・ファブリックのよ
うな別のエラストマー材料で作ることもできる。伸縮性
耳部は単一のエラストマー・ファブリックあるいはいく
つかのエラストマー・ファブリックの組み合わせから作
ることができる。
［００４８］ 伸縮性耳部８２上のフック・タブ８８の位置およびバッ
クシー）３０上のループ・パネル９０の位置は、使い捨
て式おむつ１０の適切な機能にとって重要である。ルー
プ・パネル９０はバックシート３０の中央の約１．５イ
ンチ（３，１８センチメートル）を占有して２つのルー
プ・サブパネル９１．９３を与えなければならない。ル
ープ・サブパネル９１．９３は、バックシート３０の側
部５４から約３／４インチ（１，９０５センチメートル
）のところに位置しなければならない。これは、好まし
い領域でフック・タブ８８とループ・パネル９０の間に
係合するように設計される。たとえば、フック・タブ８
８がバックシート３０の中心線６２に近すぎるところに
位置する場合には、伸縮性耳部８２によって生じる張力
により、（１）弾性材料がその限界まで伸びてしまい、
（２）前部パネル３２がずれたり、折り重なったり、（
３）皮膚に押し跡を残す可能性がある。または、フック
・タブ８８が側部５４に近すぎるところでループ・パネ
ル９０に係合する場合には、伸縮性耳部８２によって生
じる張力が皮膚に押し跡を付ける可能性がある。フック
・タブの幅よりもループ・パネルの幅が大きいと、乳児
のウェスト寸法の違いに合わせて調節することが可能と
なる。適切な耳部張力はフックとループの取り付は状態
を改良し、約３００グラム以下の低張力で前部パネルが
すり下がるのを防ぐことができるし、また、約１２００
グラム以上の高張力で皮膚の押し跡やその他の刺激が生
じるのを防ぐことができる。フック、ループの取り付は
状態を改善するには少なくとも１００グラムの張力が必
要である。前部パネルのすり下がりを防ぐに適切な耳部
張力は、大まかに言えば、約３００〜１２００グラムの
範囲にある。
［００４９］ 好ましくは、耳部８２の幅は約１．５〜２．５インチ（
３，１８〜６．３５センチメートル）でなければならず
、弾力範囲は吸収パッドの前縁上方で約１．２５〜２．
２５インチ（３，１７５〜５．．７１５センチメートル
）であると好ましい。
［００５０１ 耳部８２は、中央を通る張力が大きく、その両側の張力
が低いように設計することができる。耳部８２は、また
、材料を通じて均一な張力を持つように設計しても良い
。
［００５１］ 吸収性構造１４は、サージ部９８と保持部１００とを持
ち得る。サージ部９８は保持部１００と液体連絡関係に
あり、−時的に、排泄液の約１００％までを貯蔵し、次
いで、保持部１００に液体を放出する。図示のように、
サージ部９８はほぼ矩形であり、約０．５〜１５グラム
の材料重量範囲であり、約１０〜５０平方インチ（６０
，４５〜３２２．５平方センチメートル）の表面積を有
し、吸収性構造１４の長手方向端の間で中心線６２に沿
って位置する。サージ部９８はほぼ砂時計形の保持部１
００上に位置する。サージ部９８および保持部１００の
他の幾何学形状、位置も本発明では考えられる。たとえ
ば、サージ部９８を保持部１００内に配置して単層構造
とすることもできる。望むならば、サージ部９８は接合
または繊維結合機構、たとえば、超音波、接着剤、熱接
合、機械的あるいは液圧的なニードリングによって保持
部１００に結合できる。サージ部９８は吸収性構造１４
の全長にわたって延びていても良いし、あるいは、もっ
と短くて吸収性構造１４に、あるいはその前部または後
部付近に配置しても良い。
［００５２］ 吸収性構造１４は種々の形状で作ることができ、想定し
た着用者のサイズおよびそれの排泄する液体量に合わせ
た吸収性を選ぶことができる。
［００５３］ サージ部９８と保持部１００の境界面に生じる毛管作用
力の差は吸収性構造１４の特性を改善できる。サージ部
９８が保持部１００の毛管作用よりも低い毛管作用を有
し、また、それを維持する場合、液体サージはサージ部
９８がら保持部１００へより容易に排出される傾向とな
る。
［００５４］ 保持部１００は種々のタイプの繊維材料の混合物からな
り得る。たとえば、保持部分１００は、粒子、繊維、層
等の形をしたセルローズ毛羽、合成繊維、吸収性げる化
材料およびその種々の混合物からなり得る。適当な吸収
性げる化材料はシリカゲルのような無機物質あるいは架
橋ポリマーのような有機化合物であり得る。吸収性ゲル
化材料ポリマーのいくつかの例としては、ポリアクリル
アミドポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリレート等があ
る。他の許容ポリマーとしては、アクリロニトリル・グ
ラフデッド・スターチ、アクリル酸グラフテッド・スタ
ーチ、改質カルボキシメチルセルローズ等がある。
［００５５］ 保持部１００は、Ｈｙｄｒｏｆｉｌ　（登録商標）　ポ
リエステル、Ｐｅｂａｘ　　（登録商標）湿潤可能なポ
リエチレンまたはポリプロピレンのような本来湿潤可能
なポリマー約１〜３０重量％、吸収性ゲル化材料約５〜
９０重量％、セルローズ毛羽約２０〜８０重量％の混合
物からなり得る。−層好ましくは、保持部１００は本来
湿潤可能なポリマー約２〜１５重量％、吸収性ゲル化材
料約１５〜５０重量％およびセルローズ毛羽約４５〜７
０重量％からなる。保持部１００は約２００〜３０００
ｇｓｍの範囲にある坪量を有し得る。好ましい範囲は約
５００〜１００１００Ｏである。もっと好ましい坪量は
約９００ｇ５ｍである。保持部１００は約００８〜０．
４０ｇ／ｃｃの範囲の密度を有し得る。好ましい範囲は
約０．１５〜０．３０ｇ／ｃｃである。好ましい密度は
約０．２２ｇ／ｃｃである。保持部１００の密度測定に
関して、それは坪量および厚みから計算しており、新し
い未包装、未折り畳みの乾燥したおむつについて測定し
たものである。
［００５６］ サージ部９８は保持部１００の材料と同じ材料で作り得
る。好ましくは、サージ部９８は、約１００〜６００ｇ
５ｍの坪量、約０．０５０．１５ｇ／ｃｃの密度、そし
て約１０〜５０平方インチ（約６４．５〜３２２平方セ
ンチメートル）の表面積を有するＨｙｄｒｏｆ　ｉ　ｌ
　（登録商標）材料からなる。好ましくは、サージ部９
８は、約４００ｇ５ｍの坪量、約０．１ｇ／ｃｃの密度
、約２５平方インチ（１６１平方センチメートル）の表
面積を有する。
［００５７］ 吸収性構造１４全体は、トップシート２６と同じ材料で
作った疎水性ウェブ、木材繊維ティッシュ、あるいは、
約１５〜３０ｇ５ｍの坪量を有するパワーボンデツド・
ポリエステル・カーデッド・ウェブで包むと良い。
［００５８］ 本発明を好ましい実施例について説明してきたが、さら
に変更できることは了解されたい。したがって、本願で
は、本発明の全体的な原則に従ってその任意の変更、用
途または応用も含むことを意図しており、本発明が関係

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】長手方向の両端および対向した側部を包含
    し、これらの端および側部がトップシート周縁寸法を有
    するトップシート周縁を構成する液体透過性トップシー
    トと、 長手方向の両端および対向した側部を包含し、これらの
    端および側部がトップシート周縁寸法よりも大きいバッ
    クシート周縁寸法を有するバックシート周縁部を構成す
    る液体不透過性バックシートと を包含し、 前記トップシート周縁部が前記大きいバックシート周縁
    部に結合してあって間に排泄物収容ポケットを形成し、 前記液体透過性トップシートが着用者の身体とほぼ完全
    に接触するようになっており、 前記液体透過性トップシートが、さらに、排泄物を受け
    入れるようになっている開口を包含する ことを特徴とする密着式吸収性物品。
  2. 【請求項２】請求項１記載の物品において、前記排泄物
    収容ポケットが少なくとも約１５０立方センチメートル
    の容積を有することを特徴とする物品。
  3. 【請求項３】請求項２記載の物品において、さらに、前
    記長手方向の端のうちの一方の端付近にウェスト弾性部
    材を包含することを特徴とする物品。

    ト弾性部材が前記バックシートにのみ結合してあること

    容フラップおよび前記側部フラップが液体透過性である

    容フラップおよび前記側部フラップが液体不透過性であ
    ると共に水蒸気透過性であることを特徴とする物品。

    容フラップが液体不透過性であり、前記側部フラップが
    液体透過性であることを特徴とする物品。

    容フラップの選定部分が液体透過性であり、その残りの
    部分が液体不透過性であることを特徴とする物品。

    ップシートが伸縮材料で作ってあることを特徴とする物
    品。
  27. 【請求項２７】長手方向の両端および対向した側部を包
    含し、これらの端および側部がトップシート周縁寸法を
    有するトップシート周縁を構成するトップシートと、 長手方向の両端および対向した側部を包含し、これらの

    きく、前記トップシート周縁部が前記バックシート周縁
