본 발명은 흡수 제품, 더욱 구체적으로 말하자면 착용자의 신체, 특히 회음(會陰)부에 용이하게 밀착 착용시켜 체액을 처리하고 이 체액을 함유하는 개선된 성능을 제공하는 개선된 일회용 흡수 제품에 관한 것이다.
오늘날 일회용 흡수 제품은 유아 및 아동의 경우 및 성인 실금 보호대로서 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며, 일반적으로 재사용 가능한 직물 흡수 제품의 대체용으로 사용되고 있다. 전형적인 일회용 흡수 제품은 상부시트 재료, 하부시트 재료 및 이들 사이에 배치된 흡수제 층으로 이루어지는 3층 복합 구조물로 되어 있다.
오늘날 흡수 제품의 한가지 문제점은 배설물이 닿게 되는 흡수 제품의 피부접촉 면적량이다. 예를 들면, 현재 사용되고 있는 유아용 기저귀는 오줌 및 BM 처리를 돕기 위해서 가랑이 면적이 넓게 되도록 절개되어 있다. 이것은 과도의 물질이 다리 사이에서 뭉쳐지는 결과를 초래하여 착용자가 지극히 불편할 수 있다. 이러한 물질의 뭉침 현상은 기저귀 테두리의 탄성에 의하여 더욱 더 악화된다. 결론적으로, 상부시트가 회음부에 밀접하게 접촉되는 것이 방해되며, 이로써 체공(body orifices)으로부터의 배설물 흐름의 처리 및 봉쇄 기능을 상실하는 결과가 발생되며, 이어서 배설물이 상부시트 표면을 따라 착용자의 피부로 번지는 결과가 생긴다.
현재 사용되고 있는 흡수 제품의 또 다른 문제점은 다리 사이에 과다 물질이 있는 경우 일정 시간 이상 동안 다리를 움직일 때 흡수제가 파괴되어 분리될 수 있으며, 이로써 흡수 효과가 감소된다는 점이다.
다리 사이에서의 과다 물질과 관련된 또 다른 문제점은 가랑이 사이에서 뭉쳐 있는 물질 상에서 다리의 휘젓는 움직임으로 인하여 흡수 제품이 가랑이 사이에서 밀려내려 가게 되며, 이로써 뭉침 문제가 더욱 더 악화되며, 보다 많은 면적의 피부가 배설물에 닿게 된다.
또 다른 문제점은 다리 사이의 과다 물질에 의해 가랑이 부위에서 흡수제품이 이동되거나 움직여져 피부가 배설물에 닿게 됨으로써 유발되는 문제점이 증가된다는 사실이다.
이러한 문제점들은 일반적으로 피부염, 습진(피부 수화) 및(또는) 난처한 청결 문제를 야기시키게 된다는 것이다.
본 발명의 일 실시태양에 있어서, 일정 상부시트 주변부 치수를 갖는 액체투과성 상부시트, 및 상부시트 주변부 치수보다 큰 하부시트 주변부 치수를 갖는 액체 불투과성 하부시트로 이루어지는 일회용 흡수 제품을 제공한다. 상부시트 주변부 및 하부시트 주변부는 서로 접합되어 이들 사이에 배설물 봉쇄 플랩을 형성한다. 액체 투과성 상부시트는 그 안에 개구부를 갖고 있으며, 착용자의 신체에 사실상 완전하게 접촉되도록 적합하게 한다.
본 발명의 다른 실시태양에서, 액체 투과성 상부시트, 액체 불투과성 하부시트, 상부시트와 하부시트 사이의 흡수제 층, 상부시트의 측변 근처에 위치한 봉쇄 플랩 한 쌍, 상부 시트 측변 근처에 위치한 측변 플랩 한 쌍으로 이루어지는 일회용 흡수 제품을 제공한다.
본 발명의 다른 실시태양에서, 일정한 상부시트 주변부 치수를 갖는 상부시트, 일정한 하부시트 주변부 치수를 갖는 하부시트, 및 상부시트와 하부시트 사이의 흡수 구조물로 이루어지는 일회용 흡수 제품을 제공한다. 하부시트는 팽창 가능하여 배설물을 수용하게 되면 하부시트는 팽창하여 이들을 봉쇄하게 된다.
본 발명의 흡수 제품은 유아용 기저귀, 성인 실금용 가먼트, 여성용 생리대 등에 사용될 수 있다. 본 발명의 설명을 위하여 흡수 제품은 체중이 약 5.4 내지 약 10.kg(12 내지 약 24파운드) 유아에게 맞도록 고안된 유아용 기저귀의 측면에서 설명될 것이지만, 본 발명의 특징 및 원리는 다른 체중의 유아에게도 적용될 수 있음을 인지하여야 한다. 제1도 및 제2도에 예시한 바와 같이, 본 발명의 일회용 기저귀(10)는 종래의 기저귀(12)보다 그 크기가 상당히 소형화되었다. 구체적으로 본 발명의 기저귀(10)의 전체 길이 Lo는 약 35.6 내지 약 38cm(약 14 내지 약 15인치)인 반면에 종래의 기저귀(12)의 전체 길이 약 Lo는 약 43.2 내지 약 45.7cm(약 17 내지 약 18인치)이다. 본 발명의 기저귀(10)의 전체 너비 Wo는 약 12.7 내지 약 20.3cm(약 5 내지 약 8인치)인 반면에 종래의 기저귀(12)의 전체 너비 Wo는 약 30.5 내지 약 33cm(약 12 내지 약 13인치)이다. 본 발명의 기저귀(10)의 흡수 구조물의 전체 너비 WAO는 약 10.2 내지 약 17.8cm(약 4 내지 약 7인치)인 반면에, 종래의 기저귀(12)의 흡수 구조물의 전체 너비 WAO는 약 25.4 내지 약 28cm(약 10 내지 약 11인치)이다. 기저귀(10)의 가랑이 사이에서의 흡수제 층의 너비 WAC는 약 5.1 내지 약 7.6cm(약 2 내지 약 3인치)인 반면 종래의 기저귀(12)의 가랑이에서의 흡수제의 너비 WAC는 약 12.7 내지 15.2cm(약 5내지 약6인치)이다.
두 종류 기저귀를 크기로 비교한 바, 이들 두 제품이 유아에게 어떻게 맞는지에 대한 일반적인 비교는 제3a 내지 4b도에 예시한다. 제3a 및 3b도에서, 종래의 기저귀(12)는 체중이 약 5.4 내지 약 10.8kg(약 12 내지 약 24파운드)인 유아에게 사용되고 있는 것이다. 예시된 바와 같이 종래의 기저귀(12)의 상부시트(16), 흡수제(18), 및 하부시트(20)는 한데 묶여 있어 가랑이(24)로부터 떨어져 있어 가랑이(24)와 기저귀(12) 사이의 공간(22)을 형성한다. 이렇게 형성된 공간(22)은 배설물의 처리 및 봉쇄 기능을 상실하게 만드는 원인이 된다. 이 배설물은 상부시트(16)를 따라 분포되며, 유아가 움직이는 동안에 유아의 피부에 넓게 접촉하게 된다. 가랑이(24)에서 상부시트(16), 흡수제(18), 및 하부시트(20)가 뭉치면 다리 운동으로 인하여 흡수재가 파괴되고, 가랑이에서 기저귀가 늘어지고, 유아의 신체상 기저귀의 이동 원인이 된다.
제4a 및 4b도를 참고하면서, 본 발명의 기저귀(10)의 상부시트(26), 흡수 구조물(14) 및 하부시트(30)는 가랑이(24) 중에 위치하여 상부시트(26)가 유아 신체, 특히 가랑이(24)에 사실상 완전하게 접촉되게 함으로써 공간(22)을 없애거나 또는 최소화시키도록 한다. 배꼽 아래에서부터 등 아래 부분까지 가랑이(24)를 통해 집중되거나 측정된 선을 따라 신체에 상부시트를 접촉시키는 것이 항문쪽 상부시트(26) 중에 또는 이와 관련된 곳에 개구부 또는 BM 봉쇄 장치를 위치시켜 상부시트(26) 하에 또는 상기 장치 중에 배설물이 함유되도록 위치하는 것이 중요하다. 또한 상부시트(26)를 통해서 즉시 침투하는 오줌을 조절 또는 처리하여 오줌이 상부시트 표면 위로 흐르는 것을 방지하는 것이 중요하다. 상부시트(26)과의 바람직한 신체 접촉을 얻기 위한 2가지 방법은 첫째로, 상부시트(26)를 가랑이 치수에 맞게 절단하고(하거나) 탄성력 있게 좁히는 것이고, 두 번째로는, 흡수제의 가랑이 너비를 약 5.1 내지 약 7.6cm(약 2 내지 약 3인치)가 되도록 하여 기저귀가 유아의 다리 사이에 맞게 형성하는 것이다.
제5 및 6도를 참고하면서, 본 발명의 기저귀(10)는 일반적으로 개구부(38)를 갖춘 액체 투과성 상부시트(26), 액체 불투과성 하부시트(30) 및 이들 사이에 위치한 흡수 구조물(14)로 이루어진다.
상부시트(26)는 전면 종단부(44), 후면 종단부(46) 및 측변(48)으로 한정된 주변부(40)를 갖추고 있다. 유사하게는, 하부시트(30)는 전면 종단부(50), 후면 종단부(52) 및 측변(54)으로 한정된 주변부(42)를 갖고 있다. 주변부(42)는 주변부(40)보다 큰 주변 길이 또는 치수를 갖는다. 주변부(42)는 상부시트(26)를 하부시트(30)보다 더 좁게 만들거나, 또는 하부시트(30)보다 더욱 짧게 만들거나, 또는 이들 두 가지 방법 모두를 사용함으로써 주변부(40)보다 큰 주변부 치수를 갖도록 제조할 수 있다. 상부시트(26)를 상부시트와 하부시트 각각의 주변부(40),(42)을 따라 하부시트(30)에 접합시킬 경우, 배설물 봉쇄 포켓(56)이 이들 사이에 형성되도록 한다(제7도 참조). 상부시트(26)와 하부시트(30)는 임의의 적합한 종래 방법, 예를 들면 선 또는 선들의 접착 결합, 열결합 또는 초음파 결합에 의해 접합시키거나 또는 부착시킬 수 있으며, 상기 두 시트의 주변부에서 또는 주변 테두리로부터 약 0.3 내지 약 0.9cm(약 1/8 내지 약 3/8인치)만큼 약간 떨어진 내부에 접합시킬 수 있다.
흡수 구조물(14)은 상부시트(26)와 하부시트(30) 사이에 위치되며, 임의의 적합한 수단, 예를 들면 접착제의 선 또는 표면 도포에 의하여 하부시트(30)에 접합시키거나 또는 부착시킨다. 이어서, 배설물 봉쇄 포켓(56)은 흡수 구조물(14) 및 상부시트(26) 사이에 설정된다. 배설물 봉쇄 포켓(56)은 적어도 약 150cm3의 배설물 용적을 수용하여 함유되도록 고안된다.

봉쇄 플랩(58)은 측변 플랩(60) 안쪽에, 즉, 플랩(60)보다 세로축 중심선(62)(제6도)에 가깝게 위치시킨다. 중심선(62)은 흡수 구조물(14)을 통해서 예시되어 있지만 상부시트(26), 하부시트(30) 및 기저귀(10)에 대한 중심선일 수도 있다. 봉쇄 플랩(58)은 액체 투과성 상부시트(26)의 완전한 연장부이거나 또는 측변 플랩(60)의 안쪽에 상부시트(26)에 부착되거나 또는 접합된 액체 투과성 요소일 수 있다. 플랩(58),(60)은 개구부(38)의 측변과 측변 플랩(60)보다는 개구부(38)에 좀 더 인접해 있는 봉쇄 플랩(58)을 경계로 나눈다. 또한, 봉쇄 플랩(58)은 액체 투과성인 선택된 부분과 액체 불투과성인 나머지 부분을 가질 수 있다. 플랩(58)도 액체 불투과성일 수 있다.
본 발명의 한 실시태양에서, 봉쇄 플랩(58)은 상부시트(26)의 상단 표면(64)에 부착되거나 고정된 별개의 요소이고, 측변 플랩(60)은 상부시트(26)와 하부시트(30) 사이에 부착되거나 고정된 별개의 요소이다. 봉쇄 플랩(58)은 각각의 최단부 주변부(68) 중에 적어도 1종, 바람직하기로는 각각의 최단부 주변부(68) 중에 적어도 2종 이상의 탄성 부재를 포함한다. 탄성 부재(66)는 신축되거나 또는 탄성적으로 수축 가능한 방법으로 각각의 최단부 주변부(68) 내에 위치시켜 고정되도록 하여 탄성 부재(66)가 이완됨에 따라 봉쇄 플랩(58)이 제5 및 7도에 예시한 바와 같이 주름이 잡히도록 한다.
이와 유사한 방법으로, 측변 플랩(60)은 측변 플랩(60)의 각각이 최단부 주변부(72) 내에 신축되거나 또는 탄성적으로 수축 가능한 조건으로 부착된 탄성 부재(70)를 갖는다. 제6도에 예시한 바와 같이, 두 개의 측변 플랩은 서로 동일하기 때문에 하나의 측변 플랩(60)만을 참고로 하며, 각각의 측변 플랩(60)은 협소한 단부 부분(76)과 상기 협소한 단부 부분 사이에서 바람직하기로는 다리에 맞게 대응되도록 곡선식 모양으로 절단부(74)까지 확장되는 중간부 플랩 부분(78)으로 이루어진다.
본 발명의 중요한 면 중 한가지는 하부시트(30)와 함께 측변 플랩(60)을 배열하는 다양한 방법이다. 측변 플랩(60)은 하부시트(30)에 부착시키는 한가지 방법에 있어서, 플랩(60)은 먼저 주름을 잡히게 또는 탄성적으로 주름을 잡히게 한 후, 하부시트(30)는 주름이 잡히지 않도록 하는 방법으로 하부시트(30)에 주름 잡힌 상태로 접합 또는 부착시킨다. 이러한 방식에서, 중간 플랩 부분(78)의 편평하게 펼친 총 길이는 하부시트(30)의 A점과 B점 사이의 편평한 길이보다 길며, 여기서 A점 및 B점은 하부시트(30) 상의 중간 플랩 부분(78)의 원거리 단부의 직각 돌출부분이다. 따라서, 하부시트(30)를 평면 표면에 가압 또는 편평화시킴에 따라 각각의 중간 플랩 부분(78)은 탄성 부재(70)에 상보적인 주름 또는 물결 모양을 갖게 된다.

제5 내지 8도를 참고하면서, 일회용 기저귀(10)는 전면 패널(32) 및 후면 패널(34)의 종단부에 허리선 탄성 부재를 함유할 수 있다. 제8도에 예시한 한 실시태양에 있어서, 단지 후면 허리선 탄성 부재(80)만을 후면 패널(34)에 접합시키고, 하부시트(30) 및 상부시트(26) 사이에 접합시키거나, 도는 단지 하부시트(30)에만 접합시켜 더 크게 탄성적으로 수축시킬 수 있다. 허리선 탄성 부재(80)는 신장 또는 탄성적으로 수축 가능한 상태에서 후면 패널(34)에 고착시키거나 또는 접합시켜서 이완시킴에 따라 후면 패널(34)의 접합된 허리 탄성 부재 부분이 주름 잡히도록 한다.
신축성 귀(82)의 한 쌍을 후면 패널(34)의 대향 세로축 변들에 부착시키고, 바람직하기로는 후면 허리선 탄성 부재(80)와 일직선으로 부착시킨다. 신축성 귀(82) 두 개는 서로 동일하기 때문에 다음에는 단지 한 개만의 신축성 귀에 대해서 설명하고자 한다. 신축성 귀(82)는 신축성 부재(84)와 신축성 밴드(86)로 구성되어 있다. 신축성 밴드(86)는 탄성 부재(84)에 연결되어 신축성 귀(82)가 응력을 받아 파손되는 것을 방지하는 것에 도움을 주며, 신축성 귀(82)의 중심부에 추가의 탄성 보강물을 첨가한다. 신축성 부재(84)와 신축성 밴드(86) 모두는 하부시트(30)와 상부시트(26) 사이에서, 바람직하기로는 하부시트(30) 상에 부착된 밴드(86)와 함께 접합되어 있다. 신축성 부재(84) 및(또는) 신축성 밴드(86)는 신축 결합된 라미네이트일 수 있다.
바람직하기로는, 귀(82)는 신축성 부재(86) 및 신축성 밴드(84)의 조합과 동일한 신축 특성을 갖는 탄성 또는 신축성 부재의 단일 스트립으로서 고안되고 제조된다.
일회용 기저귀(10)를 착용자의 신체에 적합하게 맞추고 유지시키기 위해, 밴드(86)에 대향하는 신축성 부재(84)의 측변에 접합된 훅(hook) 재료의 탭(tab)(88) 및 하부시트(30)에 접합된 루프(loop) 재료의 패널(panel)(90)을 갖춘 훅 앤드 루프(hook and loop) 고정 시스템이 제공된다. 훅 앤드 루프 고정 방식이 바람직하긴 하지만, 다른 고정 장치가 사용될 수 있는데, 예를 들면, 테이프, 스냅(snap) 고정 장치 등이다.
일 실시태양에서, 하부시트(30)는 액체 불투과성 재료, 바람직하기로는 1.2×10-3cm(5×10-4인치) 이상의 두께를 갖는 폴리에틸렌 필름이 기능성을 갖는다할지라도, 약 2.4×10-3cm(1×10-3인치)의 두께를 갖는 폴리에틸렌 필름으로 제조한다. 하부시트(30)는 일반적으로 편평, 즉 주름잡히거나 미세 권축 상태가 아니며, 상부시트(26)의 주변부 치수보다 큰 주변부 치수를 갖는다. 하부시트(30) 및 상부시트(26)는 접합시켜 배설물 봉쇄 포켓(56)를 형성하는 예에서, 하부시트(30)의 주변부(42)를 안쪽으로 끌어당겨 상부시트(26)의 주변부(40)에 접합되도록 하여야 한다. 이러한 방식으로 하부시트(30)를 형성시키는 한가지 방법은 하부시트(30)를 소정의 모양 및 치수의 금형 중에 진공 성형시킴으로써 바람직한 모양의 배설물 봉쇄 포켓(56)을 만드는 방법이다.
다른 실시태양에서, 배설물 봉쇄 포켓(56) 중 추가로 사용 가능한 용적 2.54cm(1인치)의 전면 너비, 및 약 10.2cm(4인치)의 활강 측변 길이 및 약 3.8cm(1.5인치)의 후면 너비를 갖는 흡수 구조물 중의 흡수제 코어(core), 예를 들면, 사다리꼴 모양의 구멍(hole)을 통해서 또는 그 주변부를 배설물이 통과하도록 하는 수단(1), 및 상부시트 및 흡수제 코어보다 긴 치수를 갖고 흡수제와 하부시트 사이에 배설물을 함유하도록 하부시트(30)와 흡수성 코어 사이에 형성된 공간을 갖는 하부시트(30)와 같은 외부 차단 시트를 함유한다.
하부시트(30)를 사용함으로써 포켓(56) 중에 추가로 사용 가능한 용적을 제공하는 다른 수단은 (a) 쉽게 팽창될 수 있는 엠보싱된 필름을 사용하는 수단, (b) 크라톤(Kraton) 또는 에틸 비닐 아세테이트(EVA)와 같은 저 모듈러스이며 쉽게 연신될 수 있는 필름으로부터 하부시트를 제조하는 수단, (c) 티슈를 권축 시켜 권축된 속(wadding)을 형성시키는 단계, (d) 쉽게 팽창될 수 있는 하부시트 또는 하부시트의 단지 일부 중에서 종방향 또는 횡방향으로 주름을 형성시키는 단계, (e) 하부시트의 가랑이 부분에 열로 벌지(bulge)를 형성시키는 단계를 포함한다. 다른 방법으로서는 상부시트(26)는 신축성 재료로 제조할 수 있고, 하부시트(30)보다 짧고(거나) 좁게 절단하고, 이어서 주변부를 하부시트(30)에 접합시켜 추가의 사용 가능한 용적을 제공할 수 있다.
배설물을 처리하기 위한 총 용적은 적어도 약 150cm3이어야 한다. 하부시트(30)에 요구되는 팽창 가능한 양은 배설물 오염의 목적하는 감소 정도, 이 제품으로 처리하려는 처리 물질의 용적, 착용자가 앉은 자세에 있을 때 흡수제(14)에 제공된 구멍의 용적에 따라 다르다. 예를 들면, 통상 60cm3이하의 배설물이 한번의 배설로 배출되기 때문에 흡수제 중의 구멍 용적이 약 20cm3일 경우에는 하부시트의 팽창성은 약 40cm3을 처리해야만 한다.
이러한 용적을 제공하기 위해서는 하부시트(30)의 바람직한 팽창성 범위는 약 20% 내지 100%임을 경험으로 알 수 있다. 정확한 양은 배설하는 동안 유아의 자세, 유아의 옷의 유아에 대한 밀착성, 배설물의 점도, 상부시트에 의해 신체에 가해지는 압력, 내장 운동의 팽창력에 대한 물질의 저항, 신체로부터 배설물의 배출 속도, 흡수제의 경도 등을 포함한 다양한 각종 요인에 의해 좌우된다. 너비의 인치당 약 25g의 외력 하에서 약 20% 이상으로 쉽게 팽창되는 물질은 적절하게 그 기능을 행하며, 충분히 팽창도어 보통 용적의 내장 운동을 수용할 수 있다.

통기성 패널(92)은 미공성 중합체 필름, 예를 들면 Grade TMP-1 필름(일본국 도꾜 소재의 Mitzui Toatsu Chemical, Inc. 사제); 부직 섬유상 재료, 예를 들면, 합성 중합체 섬유로 구성된 스펀본드 또는 멜트블로운 웹; 또는 조대 섬유로 이루어지는 보강층 및 미세 섬유로 이루어지는 단일층을 함유하는 캘린더 처리 복합 섬유상 웹으로 이루어질 수 있다. 다일층 및 보강층을 보강 섬유를 차단섬유에 융합 또는 접착시킴으로써 함께 결합되며, 보강층은 복합 웹의 바깥 쪽 대향 표면에 부합되도록 배열시킨다. 필요할 경우, 루프 패널(90)은 통기성 패널(92)의 보강층으로서 작용할 수 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해서, 섬유는 약 3미크론 이하의 직경을 가질 경우 미세한 것이라 하고 섬유가 약 15미크론 이상의 직경을 가질 경우 거친 것이라 한다.

상부시트(26)는 액체 투과성, 친수성 또는 소수성 재료, 예를 들면 합성 중합체 필라민트로 구성된 스펀본드 웹, 스펀레이스(spunlace) 웹; 스펀본드-멜트블로운 웹; 멜트블로운 웹; 또는 합성 중합체 섬유로 구성된 본딩 및 카딩 웹일 수 있다. 적합한 합성 중합체의 예로서는 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리에스테르 및 나일론이 있다. 한 실시태양에서, 중합체 필라멘트는 약 0.5 내지 7데니어, 바람직하기로는 약 1.2 내지 6.0데니어를 갖는다. 필라멘트는 약 10 내지 약 35gm/m2(gsm) 범위의 기본 중량, 및 바람직하기로는 약 20gsm의 기본 중량을 갖는 층을 형성하도록 배열시킨다. 상부시트(26)의 벌크 두께는 약 0.0140 내지 약 0.0432cm 범위, 바람직하기로는 약 0.0180 내지 약 0.305cm 범위이다. 벌크 두께는 약 0.014psi의 구속 압력 하에서 측정한다.
상부시트(26)는 또한 계면활성제를 첨가함으로써 습윤성으로 제조되는 크라톤 멜트블로운/폴리프로필렌 스펀본드 신축 결합된 라미네이트; 계면활성제를 첨가함으로써 습윤성으로 제조되는 일본국 오사카시 소재의 Kanebo Synthetic Fibers Company사 제품과 같은 폴리우레탄 스펀본드 재료; 유액이 통과할 수 있도록 천공시킨 고무, 라텍스 고무, 폴리우레탄, 크라톤 등과 같은 탄성체로부터 제조한 탄성 필름; 및 탄성 또는 다른 수단, 예를 들면 열수축 섬유를 사용하여 주름잡히게 하여 탄성적으로 신축성인 재료를 형성하는 부직물일 수 있다.
봉쇄 플랩(58) 및 측변 플랩(60)은 상부시트(26)와 동일한 재료로 제조할 수 있으며, 이들로부터 통합 제조할 수 있거나 또는 임의의 적합한 방법으로 상부시트(26)에 접합된 별개의 구조물로 이루어질 수 있다.

탄성 부재(66)는 임의의 적합한 탄성 부재, 예를 들면 천연고무, 합성고무 또는 열가소성 탄성 중합체일 수 있으며, 단일 또는 다중 드레드(thread) 또는 이들의 리본형일 수 있다. 임의로는, 이들 재료는 열 수축성 또는 열 탄성일 수 있다. 바람직하기로는 탄성 부재(66)는 각각 470데시텍스(Decitex:이 데시텍스는 길이가 100,000m인 단일 드레드의 g 중량임) 라이크라(Lycra)로 이루어지며, 최종 90% 연신율은 약 25g 내지 75g의 장력을 제공한다. 이 재료는 봉쇄 플랩(58)이 이들의 연신된 길이의 약 30% 내지 약 80%로 수축되게 한다. 더욱 바람직하게는 이들 재료는 최종 90%의 연신율에서 1분간의 정지시간 후에 약 50g의 외력을 갖고, 원래 길이의 적어도 약 50%까지 수축되는 능력을 갖는다.
측변 플랩(60)은 바람직하기로는 0.8sdy의 스펀본드 폴리프로필렌 복층으로 이루어지며, 이들은 액체 투과성, 액체 불투과성, 또는 액체 불투과성 증기 투과성일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 측변 플랩(60)은 적어도 단일층 부직 재료, 예를 들면 스펀본드 웹, 스펀본딩 및 카딩 웹, 또는 폴리프로필렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리에스테르 또는 나일론과 같은 중합체로 구성되는 스펀레이스 재료로 이루어질 수 있다. 이 재료는 바람직하기로는 비습윤성(소수성) 특징을 갖는다. 이 0.8osy 측변 플랩은 탄성 재료 상에 배치되어 복층 플랩 재료를 형성하도록 0.8osy 스펀본드 폴리프로필렌 단일층으로 이루어진다.
탄성 부재(70)는 탄성 부재(66)와 동일한 재료로 제조할 수 있다. 바람직하기로는, 탄성 부재(70)는 620 데이텍스 라이크라 3가닥으로 이루어지며, 최종 연신율의 90% 연신율에서 약 50 내지 150g의 장력을 제공한다. 이 재료는 측변 플랩(60)이 이들의 연신된 길이의 약 305 내지 약 80%로 수축되도록 허용한다. 더욱 바람직하기로는 이 재료는 최종 연신율이 90%에서 1분 동안의 정지시간 후에 약 50g의 외력을 갖고, 원래 길이의 적어도 약 45%까지 수축하는 능력을 갖는다.
신축성 귀(82)는 탄성 또는 신축성 특성을 갖는 임의의 적합한 재료로 제조할 수 있다. 이와 같은 재료의 예로는 약 0.4osy 폴리프로필렌 스펀본드의 주름이 가능한 2개의 층(이때 스펀본드는 2개의 층 사이에 크라톤 또는 폴리우레탄 기재 중합체와 같은 멜트블로운 탄성 부재층을 갖는다)으로 이루어진 신축 결합된 라미네이트이다. 탄성층은 신축된 다음 폴리프로필렌의 2개 층이 이에 접합되며, 상기 층이 이완됨에 따라 2개의 폴리프로필렌층은 주름이 잡히게 된다. 다른 신장 결합된 라미네이트는 탄성체 필름, 예를 들면 Kraton 또는 우레탄, 탄성체 리본 또는 드레드, 예를 들면, 라이크라, 고무, 페박스, 우레탄 또는 이들의 조합으로부터 제조할 수 있다. 신축성 귀는 다른 탄성 재료, 예를 들면 신축성 우레탄 발포체, 또는 Kandebo사 제품과 유사한 폴리우레탄 스펀본드 직물로 이루어질 수 있다. 이 신축성 귀는 단일 탄성 직물 또는 여러 탄성 직물의 조합으로부터 제조할 수 있다.

바람직하기로는, 귀(82)의 너비는 약 3.8 내지 약 6.35cm(약 1.5인치 내지 약 2.5인치)이며, 흡수성 패드의 전면 주변 부위의 탄성력 밴드는 바람직하게는 약 3.2 내지 약 5.7cm(약 1.25인치 내지 약 2.25인치)이어야 한다.

급상승부(98) 및 보유부(100) 사이의 접촉면에서 생성된 모세관력의 차이는 흡수 구조물(14)의 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 급상승부(98)가 보유부(100)의 모세관력에 비하여 상대적으로 낮은 모세관력을 갖고 이 힘을 유지할 경우, 액체 급증량을 급상승부(98)로부터 보유부(100)로 더욱 쉽게 배출시키는 경향이 있다.
보유부(100)는 다양한 형태의 섬유상 재료의 혼합물로 이루어질 수 있다. 예를 들면, 보유부(100)는 셀룰로오스성 플러프(fluff), 합성 섬유, 입자, 섬유 층 모양의 흡수성 겔화 재료 및 이들의 각종 혼합물로 이루어질 수 있다. 적합한 흡수성 겔화 재료는 무기 재료, 예를 들면, 실리카 겔, 또는 유기 화합물, 예를 들면 가교 중합체일 수 있다. 흡수성 겔화 재료 중합체의 예로는 폴리아크릴아미드, 폴리비닐알코올, 폴리아크릴레이트 등이 있다. 다른 허용되는 중합체의 예로서는 아크릴로니트릴 그라프트 전분, 아크릴산 그라프트 전분, 개질된 카르복시 메틸 셀룰로오스 등이 있다.
보유부(100)는 원래 습윤성인 중합체, 예를 들면 히드로필(Hydrofil), 폴리에스테르, 페박스(Pebax)또는 습윤성 폴리에틸렌 또는 폴리프로필렌 약 1내지 30중량%; 흡수성 겔화 물질 약 5 내지 약 90중량%; 및 셀룰로오스성 플러프 약 20 내지 80중량%이 혼합물로 이루어질 수 있다. 더욱 바람직하기로는, 보유부(100)는 원래 습윤성인 중합체 약 2내지 약 15중량%, 흡수성 겔화 물질 약 15 내지 약 50중량%, 및 셀룰로오스성 플러프 약 45 내지 약 70중량%일 수 있다. 보유부(100)의 기본 중량은 약 200 내지 300gsm일 수 있다. 바람직한 범위는 약 500 내지 1,000gsm이다. 더욱 바람직한 기본 중량은 약 900gsm이다. 보유부(100)의 밀도는 약 0.08 내지 약 0.40g/cc이다. 바람직한 범위는 약 0.15 내지 0.30g/cc이다. 바람직한 밀도는 약 0.22g/cc이다. 보유부(100)의 밀도 측정은 기본 중량 및 두께로부터 계산되며, 새롭게 꺼낸 접히지 않고 건조상태의 기저귀 상에서 측정한다.
급상승부(98)는 보유부(100)와 동일한 유형의 재료로 이루어질 수 있다. 바람직하기로는, 급상승부(98)는 약 100 내지 600gsm의 기본 중량, 약 0.05 내지 0.15g/cc의 밀도, 및 약 10 내지 50in2, 즉 약 64.5 내지 322cm2의 표면적을 갖는 히드로필재료로 이루어진다. 바람직하기로는 급상승부(98)는 약 400gsm의 기본 중량, 약 0.1g/cc의 밀도, 및 약 25in2표면적을 갖는다.
전체 흡수 구조물(14)은 상부시트(26)와 동일한 재료로 제조된 친수성 웹, 목재 섬유 티슈 또는 약 15 내지 30gsm의 기본 중량을 갖는 분말 결합된 폴리에스테르 카딩된 웹으로 싸여질 수 있다.
본 발명이 바람직한 실시태양을 갖는 것으로 기술되어 있기는 하지만 추가로 변형될 수 있음을 알 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 출원은 본 발명의 일반적인 이론에 따라서 임의로 변형, 사용, 또는 응용도 가능하며, 본 발명의 기술에서 벗어나는 내용은 당업계의 숙련가에게 공지되거나 통상적으로 실시되는 한도내의 것이며 첨부된 특허청구의 범위의 정의 내에 속하는 것임을 인지하여야 한다.

  1. 소정 치수의 상부시트 주변부를 이루는 대향 종단부와 대향 측변부를 포함하고 있으면서 신체 배설물을 수용하기에 적합한 개구부를 더 포함하는 액체 투과성 상부시트, 상기 상부시트 주변부의 치수보다 더 큰 치수의 하부시트 주변부를 이루는 대향 종단부와 대향 측변부를 포함하는 액체 불투과성 하부시트, 및 상기 상부시트와 하부시트 사이의 흡수 구조물로 이루어지고, 상기 상부시트 주변부가 상기 하부시트 주변부와 결합되어 그 사이에 배설물 봉쇄 포켓이 형성된 일회용 흡수제품에 있어서, 상기 액체 투과성 상부시트가 착용자의 신체와 완전하게 접촉하도록 되고, 상기 흡수 구조물의 가랑이부가 5.08cm 내지 7.62cm(2-3인치)의 폭으로 된 것을 특징으로 하는 일회용 흡수제품.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 배설물 봉쇄포켓이 150cm3이상의 용적을 갖는 것인 제품.
