Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明は、レーザビームによって包装材料を局所的に蒸
発させ、刻み目を付与する方法に関する。
従来の技術 このように、包装材料にレーザビームを用いて刻み目を
付与する方法は、英国特許A−2,161,427で知
られている。容器の所望の位置に刻み目を付与すること
は、下記の各点で当該容器に対する消費者の親近感の増
大に大きく寄与するものである。
すなわち、 容器をたとえばハサミ、ナイフ、爪または歯などの特段
の道具を用いることなく、容易に開封することができる
開封の際の破れ目が無秩序に拡がる事態に比べ、開封個
所を所望の形状とすることができるので、開封後の内容
物の使い勝手が格段に改善される。
開封後の美観が向上する。
などの点である。
一方、このような刻み目は、以下のような要求に応じる
必要がある。
刻み目を付した後の包装材料は、それ以降の内容物の充
填や輸送および保管などとして取扱われる期間、破損し
てはならない。
容器は予め設定される経時的な価値、すなわち内容物か
ら芳香や臭い、味などが失われてはならず、また水蒸気
や酸素などが刻み目を通して内容物に進入してはならな
いなどの経時的な価値に応じ続ける必要がある。
前記英国特許A−2,161,427に記載された方法
では、折曲げられて容器を構成するシート体にレーザビ
ームを用いて刻み目や折線が付与され、これら刻み目や
折線の形状はこのシート体に配置可能なマスクに対応し
て形成されている。
このようなシート体は、レーザビームの下に順次的に載
置され、刻み目を付与した後には除去される。
このような方法は、工業的規模での実施に関して充分に
効果的ではなく、特に処理速度が極めて遅いという課題
がある。
帯状で搬送される包装材料にレーザビームを用いて刻み
目を付与する技術は、合衆国特許3,909.582と
しても知られている。その開示内容において、レーザビ
ームは固定されており、したがって刻み目は帯状の包装
材料の搬送方向に従つて延びることになる。レーザビー
ムの発生源に、前記帯状包装材料の搬送方向と垂直な方
向の往復動を与えることにより、前記刻み目はほとんど
正弦曲線形状にできる技術が合衆国特許4,549゜0
63に記載されている。
発明が解決しようとする課題 本発明の目的は、包装材料に対して任意の形状の刻み目
を高い処理速度にて付与することができる包装材料に刻
み目を付与する方法を提供することである。
課題を解決するための手段 請求項第1項記載の発明は、レーザビームを用いて、包
装材料を局所的に蒸発させて刻み目を付与する′方法に
おいて、 前記レーザビームと包装材料とは相互に移動可能とされ
、 刻み目は、11整可能な搬送速度でかつ予め定める状態
で搬送される帯状包装材料の少なくとも一方側表面に周
期的な形状として付与され、前記レーザビームの強度は
調節可能とされ、またその走査方向において前記形状に
基づく制御信号に従い、相互に垂直な2方向に走査可能
であることを特徴とする包装材料に刻み目を付与する方
法である。
請求項第2項記載の発明は、刻み目は帯状包装材料の相
互に反対の表面側で発生される一対のレーザビームを用
いて、前記帯状包装材料の相互に反対側表面にそれぞれ
形成され、 上記レーザビームの強度は調節可能であって、その走査
方向は相互に垂直な2方向に前記周期的形状に対応する
信号の制御下に走査可能とされ、帯状包装材料の一方側
表面に形成される刻み目は、反対側表面に形成される刻
み目に関して少なくとも一部分が重複して形成されるこ
とを特徴とする包装材料に刻み目を付与する方法である
請求項第3項記載の発明は、刻み目は、強度が調節可能
であってかつ刻み目相互の隣接する部分をそれぞれ照射
する少なくとも一対の個別のレーザビームによって付与
されるようにしたことを特徴とする包装材料に刻み目を
付与する方法である。
作  用 本発明に従えば、調節可能な速度で一定の状態で搬送さ
れる帯状包装材料の少なくとも一方側表面に、レーザビ
ームにて周期的な形状の刻み目が付与される。このレー
ザビームは、その強度に関して調節可能であり、また前
記周期的な形状に対応する信号による制御のもとて相互
に垂直な2方向に走査可能である。
包装材料は、単一の素材および積層された複合材である
。この複合材は、紙、セロハン、アルミニウム箔や広範
な種類の合成樹脂から成るフィルム、たとえばポリエチ
レン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエステル、ポリアミド、P
BC,PVDC,su r I yn、ポリスチレンな
どの合成樹脂がら成るフィルムなどの一層または複数層
から成る。また前記複合材は、異なる層が粘着剤やラッ
カ、合成樹脂材料、ワックスおよび熱溶融性材料などに
よつオ固着されて成る。
容器の種類によっては、帯状包装材料の両表面に刻み目
を付与することが望ましい、このような場合であっても
、本発明によれば、帯状包装材料の両表面側で用いられ
、形成すべき刻み目の形状に対応する信号によって、相
互に垂直な2方向に走査し、強度が調節可能なレーザビ
ームによって実現可能である。
実施例 第1図は本発明に従う方法を実現する製造装置28を示
す系統図である。ここで、周期的な表示が印刷された包
装材料2のロール1は、当該包装材料2の一方側表面、
好ましくは両表面に刻み目を付与する装置を通過する。
この刻み目は、帯状包装材料2に印刷された前記表示と
自然に合致させるようにする。刻み目が付与された後、
帯状包装材料2はロール3に巻取られ、これがら個々の
容器が切取られ、内容物の充填や封止などのこれ以降の
処理が行われる。
帯状包装材料2は、複数の方向転換ローラ4〜8によっ
て第1走査装M9に導がれ、またさらに第2走査装置1
0に導かれてもよい、走査装置9゜10は、レーザ光発
振器11がらビームスプリッタ16を介してレーザビー
ムが供給され、いわゆるフライングオプティックス(f
lyiB optics)やレンズ、焦点調節機構など
を備える。これにより、走査装置9.10は、搬送され
る帯状包装材料2上を相互に垂直なX方向およびX方向
に走査することが可能となり、またその強度が調節可能
となる。
このようなレーザビームのX方向またはX方向の走査は
、制御装置12から制御信号が走査装置9、または可能
ならば走査装置10のフライングオプティックスや焦点
調節機構にも伝達されて制御される。このような制御信
号は、刻み目の所望の形状に対応して制御装置12で発
生され、前記刻み目の所望の形状は入力装置13によっ
て制御袋!!12に入力される。またこの制御御信号は
、当然に帯状包装材料2の搬送速度にも関連することに
なる。この搬送速度は、出力信号が制御装置12に適用
可能な所定の変換器14によって計測される。この刻み
目は、帯状包装材料2に印刷されている表示と一致させ
る必要があるため、この印刷表示を検出する印刷表示検
出装置15が配置され、この印刷表示検出装置15は制
御装置12と電気的に接続される。
帯状包装材料2の背後側に刻み目を付与する走査装置1
0には、ビームスプリッタ16および固定反射鏡17に
よってレーザ光発振器11がらレーザビームが供給され
る。また、このビームスプリッタ16の配置位置に旋回
鏡を設けるようにしてもよい。この旋回鏡は、刻み目が
帯状包装材料2の前面側および背後側に交互に形成され
る周期に対応して制御装置12の制御下で動作する。
帯状包装材料2に印刷された表示の異なる長さに対応し
て、走査装置10によって形成される刻み目の長さを、
予め定める所定の長さの一つに対応して調整するために
、方向転換ローラ5,6の間にテンションローラ18が
配置される。このテンションローラ18は、制御装置1
2の制御のもとてモータ19により移動可能であって、
帯状包装材料2にテンションローラ18により形成され
るループ2aが、前記印刷された表示の長さに適応する
ように調節される。
包装材料とそれに付与された刻み目との具体例を以下に
詳細に説明する。
具体例1 第2図および第3図は、具体例1を示す図であり、第2
図(1)はスープやソースなどの乾燥製品を収容する袋
20を示し、この袋20番二番よ第2図右方偶部に刻み
目21が付与されてt)る、この刻み目21は、連続し
て形成されてもよく、また断続した形状であってもよい
、第2図(2)の展開図において、容器の幅はロール1
の幅と等しくされている。この刻み目21は、大略半楕
円形状に形成される。
本具体例の包装材料2の組成は、下記のとおりである。
0.0125mm厚ポリプロピレン(l1g/m’)2
g/m”      ラッカ 60g/m2     コートとされたクラフト紙1〜
1.5g/m”  粘着剤 0.008mm厚アルミニウム箔(21,6g/m’)
2g/m’      ラッカ 0.025mm厚低密度(LD)ポリエチレ7(24g
/n2)刻み目を形成するために最も外方のフィルム(
ポリプロピレン)と、その下層にあるクラフト紙の一部
分とが予め設定された形状に従い、レーザビームにて蒸
発される。中間にあるアルミニウム箔は、蒸発すること
なく完全に残留し、容器内の内容物に有効な保存期間を
保証する。
包装材料2のロール1が第3図(1)に示されるように
、より幅広である場合、相互に並置される3つの刻み目
21を同時に形成するために、相互に平行である3本の
個別なレーザビームが用いられる。このような刻み目2
1の形状は、第3図(2)〜同図(4)のいずれか1つ
が選ばれる。
これらの刻み目21の形状は、一方では美観的配慮から
決定され、他方では容器内の内容物を一様に用いること
ができるための配慮から決定される。
具体例2 第4図(1)および同図(2)に示されるコートを収納
する包装容器29の組成は、以下のとおりである。
0.021mm厚ポリプロピレン(19g/m”)2g
/m’       ラッカ 50g/mz      コートされたクラフト紙この
積層体の合成樹脂フィルムは、ハサミやナイフが無くし
ては破ることができない、一方、前記クラフト紙まで到
達して形成された刻み目21により、この容器29は容
易に開封することができ、商品名などの表示部が除去さ
れる。
この具体例でも第4図(2)に示されるように、展開状
態の容器29の幅は、ロール1の幅と同等であり、また
は相当に狭くなる。これは第5図に示されるように、ロ
ール1の幅方向に複数列の容器が配列される場合である
具体例3 第6図(1)および同図(2)に示される容器30は、
30〜35μm(約27〜32 g/m2)厚のポリプ
ロピレンの単一層から構成される。この単一層の合成樹
脂フィルムは、レーザビームにより前記具体例と同様に
部分的に消失され、刻み目21が形成され、これにより
刻み目21に沿って容易に開封することができる。
具体例4 第7図および第8図に示されるタバコの容器は、厚紙か
ら成る箱体22から成り、袋23が貼着される。袋23
は、下記に示す組成であって印刷表示を有しない帯状包
装材料から形成される。
28 g/m”  ポリエステル 13 g/m”  ポリエチレン 7μm厚アルミニウム箔(18,9g/m”)18g/
m”  ポリエチレン 最外層のポリエステル層は、前記具体例と同様に特段の
器具なくしては破ることはできない。包装材料2の両表
面における合成樹脂フィルムにそれぞれ形成された刻み
目21により、箱体22が開かれたとき包装材料2の中
間位置付近が開封されることができる。これは、袋23
の縁部24が箱体22の把持片25に貼着されているこ
とによる。前記縁部24は、粘着テープ26により、そ
の裏面が当該裏面の下層にある袋23の正面側に固着さ
れる。刻み目21は、予め定められる中間長さの固定さ
れた形状で、帯状包装材料2に付与される。
アルミニウム箔とその下層にあるポリエチレン層とは、
刻み目21が形成されない状態で残留し、これによりタ
バコの芳香は箱体22および袋23が開封されない限り
は、持続できることになる。
第8図には、第7図の構成と異なる構成の箱22内に収
納された袋としての包装容器23が示される。その相違
点は、袋23は第7図の場合と異なる場所において接合
部27で封止されていることである。第8図の場合にお
ける刻み目21は、包装容器23の折曲げられた縁部3
1までは連続せず、点P付近の全構成層において終了す
る0箱体22の把持片25によって、袋23の適正な開
口を形成するために、刻み目21の各終端部は、水平方
向の刻み目28によって相互に連結される必要があり、
これにより帯状包装材料2の前面側と背後側との双方に
おいて、刻み目が付与されることになる。このような場
合において把持片25は、刻み目28の近傍で袋23に
糊付けされる。
刻み目の形状が複雑になり、長い刻み目や効果が弱い刻
み目となる場合では、個別に制御可能なレーザビームを
用いて、帯状包装材料2上で刻み目を複数の部分に分割
して形成することが望ましい、第1図の系統図に示した
製造装置28においては、帯状包装材料2の同一側で走
査装置9に関して2つのレーザビームが用いられ得るが
、制御装置12は2つの走査装置9の個別的な制御に用
いられてもよいのは当然である。
発明の効果 以上のように本発明に従えば、調節可能な速度で一定の
状態で搬送される帯状包装材料の少なくとも一方側表面
に、レーザビームを用いて周期的な形状にて刻み目が付
与される。このレーザビームは、その強度に関して調節
可能であり、また前記周期的な形状に対応する信号によ
る制御のもとて相互に垂直な2方向に動作可能である。
したがって任意の形状の刻み目を付与することができる
と共に、帯状包装材料に対して周期的な形状にて刻み目
を付与することができ、処理速度が格段に向上される。

Claims (3)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)レーザビームを用いて、包装材料を局所的に蒸発
    させて刻み目を付与する方法において、前記レーザビー
    ムと包装材料とは相互に移動可能とされ、 刻み目は、調整可能な搬送速度でかつ予め定める状態で
    搬送される帯状包装材料の少なくとも一方側表面に周期
    的な形状として付与され、 前記レーザビームの強度は調節可能とされ、またその走
    査方向において前記形状に基づく制御信号に従い、相互
    に垂直な2方向に走査可能であることを特徴とする包装
    材料に刻み目を付与する方法。
  2. (2)特許請求の範囲第1項記載の方法において、刻み
    目は帯状包装材料の相互に反対の表面側で発生される一
    対のレーザビームを用いて、前記帯状包装材料の相互に
    反対側表面にそれぞれ形成され、上記レーザビームの強
    度は調節可能であつて、その走査方向は相互に垂直な2
    方向に前記周期的形状に対応する信号の制御下に走査可
    能とされ、帯状包装材料の一方側表面に形成される刻み
    目は、反対側表面に形成される刻み目に関して少なくと
    も一部分が重複して形成されることを特徴とする包装材
    料に刻み目を付与する方法。
  3. (3)特許請求の範囲第1項または第2項いずれか記載
    の方法において、 刻み目は、強度が調節可能であつてかつ刻み目相互の隣
    接する部分をそれぞれ照射する少なくとも一対の個別の
    レーザビームによつて付与されるようにしたことを特徴
    とする包装材料に刻み目を付与する方法。
