Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔技術分野〕 本発明は、一対の合成樹脂製管状部材の端部を相互に突
合わせた状態で外周側から加熱装置により包囲して両管
状部材を保持し、その突合わせ領域における管状部材の
端部を材料が溶融するまで加熱装置により加熱してから
冷却し、拡開可能な支持装置により突合わせ領域の内周
に圧力を加えて両管状部材を溶接する溶接方法、並びに
該方法を実施するために使用することのできる溶接装置
に関するものである。
〔従来技術〕
上述のごとき溶接を行うものとして、軸線方向に突合わ
せた管状部材の加熱中または加熱後に真空を生じさせる
方法が既知である。これは、溶融材料の内部への垂れ下
がりや、溶接結合部の内周におけるビードの発生の防止
を意図するものである。しかしながら、上述の既知の方
法・装置により申し分のない強度を有し、かつ内周が平
滑な溶接結合を実現することは不可能であった。
ドイツ連邦共和国特許筒2830722号明細書には、
弾性挿入部材を管状部材の内部に配置すると共に管状部
材の内周に密接させて内部の溶接ビードの発生を抑制す
ることが開示されている。
この公知技術では、溶接に際して管状部材の端部を加熱
素子に押圧して加熱し、引続き相互に加圧して溶接圧力
を生じさせる。この既知の方法は、ビードを全く伴わな
い・溶接結合を実現し得るものでなく、さらに、管状部
材端面の加熱により内部が汚染されるために高純度媒体
を通す配管系には適当ではない。
〔発明の開示〕
本発明の課題は、溶接すべき管状部材を軸線方向に相互
に押圧する必要なしに十分な溶接圧力を生じさせ、溶接
ビードを伴わずに合成樹脂製管状部材を確実に結合する
ことができ、しかも高純度媒体用配管系に用いる管状部
材の溶接結合にも適した溶接方法および装置を提案する
ことにある。
この課題を解決するため、本発明による溶接方法は、管
状部材の内周に加える圧力を、管状部材の端部を軸線方
向で互いに押圧する際に溶接領域における材料を圧縮さ
せ得る最適溶接圧力が得られるものとすることを特徴と
する。
また、本発明による溶接装置は、加熱ジョーを含み、か
つ、両管状部材を包囲する開閉可能な加熱装置と、管状
部材の内部に配置して圧力媒体を導入することにより拡
開させ得る弾性ブラダ−よりなり、かつ、該ブラダ−の
内部に配置されてその長手方向の伸長を規制する抑止部
材を含む支持機構とを具えるものにおいて、加熱ジョー
を中央領域に電熱カートリッジを有する銅製加熱部材と
接続し、該加熱部材の中央領域における肉厚は、溶接す
べき管状部材に熱を良好・迅速に伝達可能とすべく、そ
の両側に連なる領域における肉厚よりも小さく設定した
ことを特徴とするものである。
本発明の特に有利な構成は、従属請求項に記載したとお
りである。
管状部材の前端部を加熱し、引続き軸線方向に押圧して
溶接する場合、種々の材料および寸法につき良好な溶接
結合を実現するのに最適な突合わせ圧力または溶接圧力
が既知である。本発明による溶接方法は、拡開可能な支
持機構を用いて溶接領域における管状部材の内周を押圧
することにより溶接領域で材料を圧縮させ、ビードを伴
わない溶接結合を実現するものである。
〔発明を実施するための最良の形態〕
以下、図示実施例につき本発明を一層具体的に説明する
第1図は本発明による管状部材1a、 lbの溶接装置
の部分断面を示しており、この溶接装置は加熱装置2と
支持機構15とを具えるものである。加熱装置2には、
溶接すべき管状部材1a、 lbを受けるための断面半
円形状の受は部2Laを有する下側部材20と、同様の
断面形状の受は部21bを有する上側部材22とを設け
る。上側部材22は回転継手により下側部材20に対し
て開閉可能に結合し、固定素子により相互に固定し得る
ものとする。加熱装置2の下側部材20および上側部材
22には、それぞれ皿状のケーシング部材23内に保持
部材24を固定し、各保持部材24におけるくり抜き部
分25内には加熱ジョー26を同軸的に配置する。
加熱ジョー26は、加熱カートリ・ソジ33から溶接領
域に熱を良好に伝達可能とするため、凹所28を通る中
間領域27において受は部21に向けて壁厚dを減少さ
せる。
凹所28には銅製の加熱部材29を配置し、加熱部材2
9はステンレス鋼から成る加熱ジョー26と一体的に溶
着する。加熱部材29には、加熱カートリッジ33およ
び熱感知器35を挿入配置する。凹所28の断面形状に
より中央領域27、いわゆる加熱ゾーンにおける温度推
移を決定することができ、温度調節ゾーンとしての両側
領域30は壁厚りが大きいため中央領域はどは加熱され
ない。加熱ジ:1−26の壁厚dから壁厚りへの遷移部
分は、壁厚を連続的に変化させるものであり、各部の長
さは管状部材la、 lbにおける溶融領域の長さに応
じて定める。
保持部材24の外周に凹所31を設け、凹所31により
送風機からの冷却空気を通すための流路34を形成する
保持部材24の内周には加熱部材29を受けるための凹
所32を設け、この凹所に冷却空気を通して加熱部材2
9を迅速に冷却し、溶接結合を短時間に完了させる構成
とする。
保持部材24の側壁36の内周には形状・寸法がビード
に対応するくり抜き部分37を形成し、このくり抜き部
分をフィティングとして形成した溶接すべき管状部材1
bに隣接配置して、フィティングを軸線方向における適
正位置に保持可能とする。
支持機構15は拡開可能な弾性ブラダ−50として形成
する。ブラダ−の本体51は、媒体圧力を受けるための
弾性材料製の内層51aと、平滑な表面を有するシリコ
ンゴム等の耐熱性エラストマ材料よりなる外層51bと
を具えるものとする。
ブラダ−50の端部52に空気管16を接続し、この空
気管16は圧縮機等の圧縮空気発生源と接続する。
空気管16に図示しない圧力スイッチを配置し、この圧
力スイッチを圧力調整器を介してプログラム制御装置と
連動させることにより、ブラダ−内に常に所要の調整圧
力を確保可能とする。

保持部材54.55を配置し、たわみロッドまたはロー
プ56等の引張部材を両保持部材の間に固定する。保持
部材55は、調整ねじ57およびナツト58により軸線
方向に調整可能とする。
ブラダ−内部に圧力を負荷する際に引張部材56により
ブラダ−50の伸長は制限されるため、ブラダ−の直径
を確実に増加させて管状部材1a、 lbの内壁に対す
る圧力を適宜調整することが可能である。
耐熱性を有する薄い外層51bによりす・ント58およ
び保持部材54.55等の全ての金属部材を被覆し、金
属部材と管状部材1a、 lbの内壁との直接接触を確
実に防止することが可能である。これは、クリーンルー
ム用の配管系に用いる管状部材の溶接に際して特に重要
な利点である。
突合わせ箇所ないし溶接結合領域における管状部材1a
、 lbの内壁に対する圧力は、軸線方向でのいわゆる
突合わせ溶接で用いられる溶接圧力に相当すべきもので
ある。この圧力は、合成樹脂材料の伸長により溶融時に
発生する圧力以上とする。
その際に発生する溶接圧力により、申し分のない溶接結
合を確実に達成することが可能である。溶接すべき管状
部材の材料、直径および肉厚に応じてブラダ−の気圧は
2〜6 bar、特に3.5〜4.5 barとするこ
とが必要である。
上述の構成を有する溶接装置により管状部材1atbの
溶接を行うに際しては、管状部材1a、 lbを軸線方
向で相互に突合わせてクランプし、管状部材la、 l
bの内部における突合わせ領域に弾性プラダ−50を非
加圧状態で挿入してからブラダ−50に対する圧縮空気
の供給を開始し、これと同時に又はブラダ−内の圧力が
調整されてから加熱ジョー26の加熱を開始する。およ
そ180〜250℃の高温により突合わせ領域で溶融し
た材料は僅かに膨張し、例えば部材の不正確な突合わせ
による材料の空隙を充満する。溶融材料はブラダ−50
の圧力により外方に向けて押圧され、半径方向では加熱
ジョー26により、また軸線方向では非溶融状態の管状
部材1a、 lbにより保持される。溶融材料は圧縮さ
れる際に、ブラダ−圧により内径に生じた空隙の寸法に
応じて第2図に示すように最大でも10分の数(財)程
度の深さTの窪み60が形成されることもある。
溶接領域61における材料の圧縮により堅固な溶接結合
が実現されることは、言うまでもない。
良好な溶接結合を達成するために溶接領域61または溶
融材料は、第2図に示すように突合わせ個所から長手方
向に見て内周では管の壁厚Sの少なくとも1.5倍の長
さ(合計3×s)、外周では管の壁厚Sの少なくとも2
.5倍の長さ(合計5Xs)を有するものとする。材料
および寸法に応じて調整可能な一定の加熱エネルギが管
状部材に与えられると、加熱を停止して空冷を開始する
。管状部材が80〜90℃まで冷却され、溶接結合が堅
固なものとなった時点でブラダ−の圧力を解除し、溶接
の完了した管状部材を加熱機構から取外す。ブラダ−も
同様に引抜いて除去することができる。
第3図および第4図に示すグラフは、−膜内な16〜6
3mmの公称直径を有するポリビニリデン弗化物から成
る管材の溶接に際してのブラダ−圧力および材料温度の
時間的変化を示すものである。ブラダ−内の圧力は、3
.5〜4.5barの範囲内で一定に保持するものであ
る(第3図参照)。
第4図における曲線■は溶接領域にある管状部材1a、
 lbの外壁における温度変化を、また曲線■は内壁に
おける温度変化を示すものである。同図におけるToは
溶接開始を、またT、、は溶接終了をそれぞれ示し、溶
接時間は約7〜12分である。
なお、T1は加熱時間、T2は冷却時間を表すものであ
る。
例えばポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンあるいはポリクロ
ルフルオルエチレンのような別の材料および別の寸法に
ついても時間経過は基本的に同じであるが、上述の値と
は若干異なることもある。
上述した本発明の方法およびその実施に必要な装置は、
溶接すべき管状部材に軸線方向の圧力を加えずに、した
がって配管系の長さの変化を生じさせずに、ビードを伴
わない堅牢で申し分のない溶接結合を実現し得るもので
ある。
本発明によれば、さらに、溶接時の管内の汚染を確実に
防止することも可能となるものである。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1、一対の合成樹脂製管状部材の端部を相互に突合わせ
    た状態で外周側から加熱装置により包囲して両管状部材
    を保持し、その突合わせ領域における管状部材の端部を
    材料が溶融するまで前記加熱装置により加熱してから冷
    却し、突合わせ領域の内周に拡開可能な支持装置により
    圧力を加えて両管状部材を溶接する溶接方法において、
    管状部材の内周に加える圧力を、管状部材の端部を軸線
    方向で互いに押圧する際に溶接領域における材料を圧縮
    させ得る最適溶接圧力が得られるものとすることを特徴
    とする溶接方法。 2、請求項1記載の溶接方法において、管状部材の内周
    に加える圧力は、溶融時に溶融領域における合成樹脂材
    料の膨張によって生じる圧力よりも大きいものとするこ
    とを特徴とする溶接方法。 3、請求項1または2に記載の溶接方法において、管状
    部材の内周に加える圧力は、2〜6barとすることを
    特徴とする溶接方法。 4、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の溶接方法にお
    いて、前記圧力は、加熱の開始前に管状部材の内周に加
    えると共に溶接結合の完了まで維持することを特徴とす
    る溶接方法。 5、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の溶接方法にお
    いて、突合わせ端部の両側における溶融領域の長さは、
    管の肉厚に対し外周で少なくとも2.5倍、内周では少
    なくとも1.5倍とすることを特徴とする溶接方法。 6、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法を実施す
    るための溶接装置であって、前記加熱ジョーを含み、か
    つ、両管状部材を包囲する開閉可能な加熱装置と、管状
    部材の内部に配置して圧力媒体を導入することにより拡
    開させ得る弾性ブラダーよりなり、かつ、該ブラダーの
    内部に配置されてその長手方向の伸長を規制する抑止部
    材を含む支持機構とを具える溶接装置において、前記加
    熱ジョー(26)は中央領域(27)に電熱カートリッ
    ジ(33)を有する銅製加熱部材(29)と接続し、該
    加熱部材(29)の前記中央領域(27)における肉厚
    は、溶接すべき管状部材(1a、1b)に熱を良好・迅
    速に伝達可能とすべく、その両側に連なる領域(30)
    における肉厚よりも小さく設定したことを特徴とする溶
    接装置。 7、請求項6記載の溶接装置において、前記ブラダー(
    50)を、圧力媒体の圧力を支持するための弾性材料製
    の内層(51a)と、平滑な表面を有する耐熱性のある
    弾性材料製の外層(51b)とを具えるものとし、該外
    層により金属部分を被覆することを特徴とする溶接装置
    。 8、請求項6または7に記載の溶接装置において、前記
