Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔技術分野〕 本発明は、一対の合成樹脂製管状部材の端部を相互に
突合わせた状態で外周側から加熱装置により包囲して両
管状部材を保持し、その突合わせ領域における管状部材
の端部を材料が溶融するまで加熱装置により加熱してか
ら冷却し、拡開可能な支持装置により突合わせ領域の内
周に圧力を加えて両管状部材を溶接する溶接方法、並び
に該方法を実施するために使用することのできる溶接装
置に関するものである。
〔従来技術〕
上述のごとき溶接を行うものとして、軸線方向に突合
わせた管状部材の加熱中または加熱後に真空を生じさせ
る方法が既知である。これは、溶融材料の内部への垂れ
下がりや、溶接結合部の内周におけるビードの発生の防
止を意図するものである。しかしながら、上述の既知の
方法・装置により申し分のない強度を有し、かつ内周が
平滑な溶接結合を実現することは不可能であった。
ドイツ連邦共和国特許第28 30 722号明細書には、弾
性挿入部材を管状部材の内部に配置すると共に管状部材
の内周に密接させて内部の溶接ビードの発生を抑制する
ことが開示されている。
この公知技術では、溶接に際して管状部材の端部を加
熱素子に押圧して加熱し、引続き相互に加圧して溶接圧
力を生じさせる。この既知の方法は、ビードを全く伴わ
ない溶接結合を実現し得るものでなく、さらに、管状部
材端面の加熱により内部が汚染されるために高純度媒体
を通す配管系には適当ではない。
〔発明の開示〕
本発明の課題は、溶接すべき管状部材を軸線方向に相
互に押圧する必要なしに十分な溶接圧力を生じさせ、溶
接ビードを伴わずに合成樹脂製管状部材を確実に結合す
ることができ、しかも高純度媒体用配管系に用いる管状
部材の溶接結合にも適した溶接方法および装置を提案す
ることにある。
この課題を解決するため、本発明による溶接方法は、
管状部材の内周に加える圧力を、管状部材の端部を軸線
方向で互いに押圧する際に溶接領域における材料を圧縮
させ得る最適溶接圧力が得られるものとすることを特徴
とする。
また、本発明による溶接装置は、加熱ジョーを含み、
かつ、両管状部材を包囲する開閉可能な加熱装置と、管
状部材の内部に配置して圧力媒体を導入することにより
拡開させ得る弾性ブラダーよりなり、かつ、該ブラダー
の内部に配置されてその長手方向の伸長を規制する抑止
部材を含む支持機構とを具えるものにおいて、加熱ジョ
ーを中央領域に電熱カートリッジを有する銅製加熱部材
と接続し、該加熱部材の中央領域における肉厚は、溶接
すべき管状部材に熱を良好・迅速に伝達可能とすべく、
その両側に連なる領域における肉厚よりも小さく設定し
たことを特徴とするものである。
本発明の特に有利な構成は、従属請求項に記載したと
おりである。
管状部材の前端部を加熱し、引続き軸線方向に押圧し
て溶接する場合、種々の材料および寸法につき良好な溶
接結合を実現するのに最適な突合わせ圧力または溶接圧
力が既知である。本発明による溶接方法は、拡開可能な
支持機構を用いて溶接領域における管状部材の内周を押
圧することにより溶接領域で材料を圧縮させ、ビードを
伴わない溶接結合を実現するものである。
〔発明を実施するための最良の形態〕
以下、図示実施例につき本発明を一層具体的に説明す
る。
第1図は本発明による管状部材1a,1bの溶接装置の部
分断面を示しており、この溶接装置は加熱装置2と支持
機構15とを具えるものである。加熱装置2には、溶接す
べき管状部材1a,1bを受けるための断面半円形状の受け
部21aを有する下側部材20と、同様の断面形状の受け部2
1bを有する上側部材22とを設ける。上側部材22は回転継
手により下側部材20に対して開閉可能に結合し、固定素
子により相互に固定し得るものとする。加熱装置2の下
側部材20および上側部材22には、それぞれ皿状のケーシ
ング部材23内に保持部材24を固定し、各保持部材24にお
けるくり抜き部分25内には加熱ジョー26を同軸的に配置
する。
加熱ジョー26は、加熱カートリッジ33から溶接領域に
熱を良好に伝達可能とするため、凹所28を通る中間領域
27において受け部21に向けて壁厚dを減少させる。
凹所28には銅製の加熱部材29を配置し、加熱部材29は
ステンレス鋼から成る加熱ジョー26と一体的に溶着す
る。加熱部材29には、加熱カートリッジ33および熱感知
器35を挿入配置する。凹所28の断面形状により中央領域
27、いわゆる加熱ゾーンにおける温度推移を決定するこ
とができ、温度調節ゾーンとしての両側領域30は壁厚D
が大きいため中央領域ほどは加熱されない。加熱ジョー
26の壁厚dから壁厚Dへの遷移部分は、壁厚を連続的に
変化させるものであり、各部の長さは管状部材1a,1bに
おける溶融領域の長さに応じて定める。保持部材24の外
周に凹所31を設け、凹所31により送風機からの冷却空気
を通すための流路34を形成する。
保持部材24の内周には加熱部材29を受けるための凹所
32を設け、この凹所に冷却空気を通して加熱部材29を迅
速に冷却し、溶接結合を短時間に完了させる構成とす
る。
保持部材24の側壁36の内周は形状・寸法がビードに対
応するくり抜き部分37を形成し、このくり抜き部分をフ
ィティングとして形成した溶接すべき管状部材1bに隣接
配置して、フィティングを軸線方向における適正位置に
保持可能とする。
支持機構15は拡開可能な弾性ブラダー50として形成す
る。ブラダーの本体51は、媒体圧力を受けるための弾性
材料製の内層51aと、平滑な表面を有するシリコンゴム
等の耐熱性エラストマ材料よりなる外層51bとを具える
ものとする。
ブラダー50の端部52に空気管16を接続し、この空気管
16は圧縮機等の圧縮空気発生源と接続する。空気管16に
図示しない圧力スイッチを配置し、この圧力スイッチを
圧力調整器を介してプログラム制御装置と連動させるこ
とにより、ブラダー内に常に所要の調整圧力を確保可能
とする。
内層51aにおけるボス状端部52,53には保持部材54,55
を配置し、たわみロッドまたはロープ56等の引張部材を
両保持部材の間に固定する。保持部材55は、調整ねじ57
およびナット58により軸線方向に調整可能とする。
ブラダー内部に圧力を付加する際に引張部材56により
ブラダー50の伸長は制限されるため、ブラダーの直径を
確実に増加させて管状部材1a,1bの内壁に対する圧力を
適宜調整することが可能である。
耐熱性を有する薄い外層51bによりナット58および保
持部材54,55等の全ての金属部材を被覆し、金属部材と
管状部材1a,1bの内壁との直接接触を確実に防止するこ
とが可能である。これは、クリーンルーム用の配管系に
用いる管状部材の溶接に際して特に重要な利点である。
突合わせ箇所ないし溶接結合領域における管状部材1
a,1bの内壁に対する圧力は、軸線方向でのいわゆる突合
わせ溶接で用いられる溶接圧力に相当すべきものであ
る。この圧力は、合成樹脂材料の伸長により溶融時に発
生する圧力以上とする。その際に発生する溶接圧力によ
り、申し分のない溶接結合を確実に達成することが可能
である。溶接すべき管状部材の材料,直径および肉厚に
応じてブラダーの気圧は2〜6bar、特に3.5〜4.5barと
することが必要である。
上述の構成を有する溶接装置により管状部材1a,1bの
溶接を行うに際しては、管状部材1a,1bを軸線方向で相
互に突合わせてクランプし、管状部材1a,1bの内部にお
ける突合わせ領域に弾性ブラダー50を非加圧状態で挿入
してからブラダー50に対する圧縮空気の供給を開始し、
これと同時に又はブラダー内の圧力が調整されてから加
熱ジョー26の加熱を開始する。およそ180〜250℃の高温
により突合わせ領域で溶融した材料は僅かに膨張し、例
えば部材の不正確な突合わせによる材料の空隙を充満す
る。溶融材料はブラダー50の圧力により外方に向けて押
圧され、半径方向では加熱ジョー26により、また軸線方
向では非溶融状態の管状部材1a,1bにより保持される。
溶融材料は圧縮される際に、ブラダー圧により内径に生
じた空隙の寸法に応じて第2図に示すように最大でも10
分の数mm程度の深さTの窪み60が形成されることもあ
る。溶接領域61における材料の圧縮により堅固な溶接結
合が実現されることは、言うまでもない。
良好な溶接結合を達成するために溶接領域61または溶
融材料は、第2図に示すように突合わせ個所から長手方
向に見て内周では管の壁厚sの少なくとも1.5倍の長さ
(合計3×s)、外周では管の壁厚sの少なくとも2.5
倍の長さ(合計5×s)を有するものとする。材料およ
び寸法に応じて調整可能な一定の加熱エネルギが管状部
材に与えられると、加熱を停止して空冷を開始する。管
状部材が80〜90℃まで冷却され、溶接結合が堅固なもの
となった時点でブラダーの圧力を解除し、溶接の完了し
た管状部材を加熱機構から取外す。ブラダーも同様に引
抜いて除去することができる。
第3図および第4図に示すグラフは、一般的な16〜63
mmの公称直径を有するポリビニリデン弗化物から成る管
材の溶接に際してのブラダー圧力および材料温度の時間
的変化を示すものである。ブラダー内の圧力は、3.5〜
4.5barの範囲内で一定に保持するものである(第3図参
照)。
第4図における曲線Iは溶接領域にある管状部材1a,1
bの外壁における温度変化を、また曲線IIは内壁におけ
る温度変化を示すものである。同図におけるT0は溶接開
始を、またTEは溶接終了をそれぞれ示し、溶接時間は約
7〜12分である。なお、T1は加熱時間、T2は冷却時間を
表すものである。
例えばポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンあるいはポリク
ロルフルオルエチレンのような別の材料および別の寸法
についても時間経過は基本的に同じであるが、上述の値
とは若干異なることもある。
上述した本発明の方法およびその実施に必要な装置
は、溶接すべき管状部材に軸線方向の圧力を加えずに、
したがって配管系の長さの変化を生じさせずに、ビード
を伴わない堅牢で申し分のない溶接結合を実現し得るも
のである。
本発明によれば、さらに、溶接時の管内の汚染を確実
に防止することも可能となるものである。

Claims (5)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】一対の合成樹脂製管状部材(1a,1b)の端
    部を相互に突合わせた状態で外周側から加熱装置(2)
    により包囲して両管状部材を保持し、その突合わせ領域
    における管状部材の端部を材料が溶融するまで前記加熱
    装置により加熱してから冷却し、突合わせ領域の内周に
    拡開可能な支持装置(15)により圧力を加えて両管状部
    材を溶接する溶接方法において、 管状部材の内周に加える圧力を、管状部材の端部を軸線
    方向で互いに押圧する際に溶接領域(61)における材料
    を圧縮させうるよう3.5〜4.5barとするとともに、突合
    わせ端部の両側における溶接領域の長さは、管の肉厚に
    対し外周で少なくとも2.5倍、内周では少なくとも1.5倍
    とすることを特徴とする溶接方法。
  2. 【請求項2】一対の合成樹脂製管状部材の端部を相互に
    突合わせた状態で外周側から加熱装置により包囲して両
    管状部材を保持し、その突合わせ領域における管状部材
    の端部を材料が溶融するまで前記加熱装置により加熱し
    てから冷却し、突合わせ領域の内周に拡開可能な支持装
    置により圧力を加えて両管状部材を溶接する溶接方法を
    実施するための溶接装置であって、前記加熱装置は加熱
    ジョーを含み、かつ、両管状部材を包囲する開閉可能な
    加熱装置と、管状部材の内部に配置して圧力媒体を導入
    することにより拡開させ得る弾性ブラダーよりなり、か
    つ、該ブラダーの内部に配置されてその長手方向の伸長
    を規制する抑止部材を含む支持機構とを備える溶接装置
    において、 前記加熱ジョー(26)は中央領域(27)に電熱カートリ
    ッジ(33)を有する銅製加熱部材(29)と接続し、該加
    熱部材(29)の前記中央領域(27)における肉厚は、溶
    接すべき管状部材(1a、1b)に熱を良好、迅速に伝達可
    能とすべく、その両側に連なる領域(30)における肉厚
    よりも小さく設定したことを特徴とする溶接装置。
  3. 【請求項3】請求項2に記載の溶接装置において、前記
    ブラダー(50)を、圧力媒体の圧力を支持するための弾
    性材料製の内層(51a)と、平滑な表面を有する耐熱性
    のある弾性材料製の外層(51b)とを具えるものとし、
    該外層によりブラダーの金属部材よりなる部分を被覆す
    ることを特徴とする溶接装置。
