Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 中空プラスチック部材の溶融接合方法 本発明は、例えば、合成プラスチック材料で作られたパイプやチューブのような 中空部材の溶融接合方法に関する。
例えばポリエチレン製の天然ガス周分バイブのような、中空部材へよ、例えば、 2つの確立された方法、即ち突き合わせ融接、ソケット融接、又は電気融接の内 のいずれかの方法により溶融接合される。前者の方法では、パイプ端は、ヒート プレートに押しつけて端部を溶かす。プレートを取り除き、端部を互いに押しつ ける。この方法は、パイプラインの組み立て中に作られる継続的な継手が、−貫 していて基準に確実に合格するために、自動作動装置の使用、或いは手動装置の 非常に慎重な使用を必要とする。この方法は、内側及び外側ビードを形成する溶 融材料のアップセットを伴う。外側のビードは(少なくとも)引き続く切削作業 に拠って取り除かれる。接合部は、パイプの突き合わせ端面間で界面全体に渡っ て完全に溶かされる。
ソケット融接では、パイプの外側表面とソケットの内側表面を、加熱装置を用い て溶かし、パイプ端部を、ソケット内へはめこんで、溶融接合を生じさせる。
電気融接では、バイブ端部をポリエレン製で電気ヒータ要素を有するソケットに はめ込む。要素の不勢により、ソケットの内層及びパイプの端部分の外層は、溶 けて接合する。内側ビードやアップセットはないが、ソケットは、接合部で外側 突出部として残る。電気融接の変化体が、導電性の重合体材料の熱収縮性カップ ラー内に位置決めしたバイブ端部の内側に、内部管状サポートを配置した直径約 63mmの比較的小さい直径のパイプを接合するると、カップラーは十分に熱く なって、バイブ端部を溶かし、パイプ端部間及びバイブ端部とカップラー間に融 接接合を生じさせる。欧州特許第0157640A2号は、このような主題に言 及している。
本発明の目的は、パイプの外側表面に接合されるソケットやカップラーを用いる ことなく、融接による中空合成プラスチック材料の接合方法を提供することであ る。
互いに接合された所定長さのパイプで形成されたバイブラインを、例えば既存の 本管のような流路の中へ差し込んで、取りつけが必要となる場合には、外部カッ プラーや外部ソケットの存在は邪魔になる。
本発明による合成プラスチック材料の中空部材の接合方法は、前記中空部材を、 その互いに向かい合うの端部分を内側で橋渡しする合成プラスチック材料のライ ナーで部材を組み立て、前記端部分及び前記ライナーを加熱してライナーを膨張 させて前記端部分と接触させ、前記部材の前記端面間に形成される融接或いは前 記部材と前記ライナー間に形成される融接若しくはこのような接合の組み合わせ により、前記2つの部材を接合させ、前記ライナーを加熱することからなり、前 記ライナーの前記加熱により、前記ライナーは、流されることなく結晶融点に達 し、より低温で行われた、直径を減する変形前に有していた直径を回復するのに 、十分な弾性及び剛性を保持することからなる。
熱は、前記端部分の外側表面と接触して或いはその外表面に設けた電気加熱器で 加えられ、或いは、前記ライナーは電気抵抗体を有する。
いま、本方法の実施例及び本方法により接合された中空部材の図1は、内側ライ ナーにより端と端を突き合わせて組み立てられたパイプの形態の合成プラスチッ ク材料の2つの中空部材の一部縦断面における部分側面図である。
図2及び図3は、各々、パイプを取り囲む加熱組立体を使用した接合中の同じ部 分を示す立面図、加熱組立体を取り外した後の仕上がり接合を示す立面図である 。
図4及び図5は、図1と図3に相当するが、第2の実施例を示す図である。
図1は、2つのパイプ1O112、例えば、中密度のポリエチレンの天然ガスバ イブを示し、パイプl0112は、それらの内側にあって、管の端部を橋渡しす る中空円筒ライナー14で組み立てられているライナーは、例えば、ポリエチレ ンからなる、或いはポリエチレンを基に形成された合成プラスチック材料である 。
ライナーの材料は、ISO基準第R292号により温度190度で5ONewt onの力の下に試験したときには、メルトフローインデックスが0.3以下であ ることが好ましい。これは、ポリエチレン或いはその他の重合体のタイプの選択 、例えば、分子構造の選択や分子量の選択により保証される。別の例として、或 いは、付加的に充填剤を有していてもよい。ライナー14の材料の代表的な例は 、分子量が50万以上で微粉炭素のような強化充填剤を有するポリエチレンであ る。例えば、ライナーは、重Iで20%の高表面積炭素粒子を含有する。炭素は 、溶融温度及びそれに近い温度で強化材として働き、ライナーの剛性を高める。
ライナー14は、熱膨張性であり、まず押し出しにより形成され、次いで冷間引 き抜きされてパイプ10.12に比較的ぴったりとはめ合うようにその直径を減 じることが好ましい。ライナー14の外側は、環状リブ16の形態をなしたセレ ーションを有し、各リブは、例えば機械加工により形成された3角形の断面形状 であるのが好ましい。
ライナー14は、140°Cの融点を有し、その温度で溶けるが、流れる傾向を 示すことなく機械的にかたいままであり、以下に説明するように多少の機械荷重 を伝達し、支えるに十分なかたさを有することが好ましい。
パイプ1O212とライナー14を、図1に示すように組み立てた後、取り外し 可能なヒータ組立体18をパイプの回りに組み立てる。ヒータ組立体は、パイプ に取りつけられ、パイプの完全な取り囲むを完成する2つの半部の本体20内に 電気的に軍勢可能なヒータ要素19を有する。2つの半部は、直接加熱されず、 実質的に低温に維持される2つのクランプ22により所定位置に保持されるのが 好ましい。ヒータ組立体I8は、該ヒータ組立体を取り外す前経過しなければな らない冷却時間を短縮するために、パイプを接合した後に用いられる水冷(図示 せず)を有するのが好ましい。
ヒータ要素19を不勢すると、ライナー14は、約140°Cまで加熱され、こ の例では、この温度で、ライチー14の外表面層だけが溶かされているのが好ま しい。しかし、他の例では、ライナーは、同じ温度或いはある他の温度で加えら れる加熱により、ライナーの肉厚全体を溶かすようなものにすることができる。
いかなる場合にも、ライナーの材料として、ライナーが比較的かたいままで、そ のかたさは、ライナーが機械的荷重を支え、伝えるのに十分であるようなもので ある。このような荷重は、ライナー14の膨張から、又ライナー14が例えば内 部応力を生じさせるために冷間引き抜き(他の冷間加工状態又は他の処理)を受 けてそれら自身の温度上昇により僅かに膨張するにもかかわらず、ライナーはパ イプ1O112の端部分の内側に圧するほどに膨張する。ライナーの膨張は、図 2の矢印で示す。
典型的には10分間維持される加熱段階中、例えば、パイプl01I2を、端方 向に相対的に移動をしないように、パイプに端方向の積極的なスラスト力を加え ることが望ましい。ヒータ組立体18はパイプ10、I2の端部分用サポートを 提供し、この端部分は、実質的に完全に溶けて軟化するようになりし、さもなけ れば膨張するライナー14によって加えられる圧力でゆがめられるようになる。
パイプ10.12の溶融は120°Cで始まり、140°Cで終わる。
加熱中、ライナー14の膨張は、溶融物圧力及び材料の流れを引き起こし、この 材料の流れは、バイブl0112間に溶融物を圧太しパイプ、ライナー14との 間の隙間を埋める。パイプの端面は、突き合わせ融接に似た方法で溶けて界面に 渡って融合する。
セレーション16の形は、加熱及び、溶融生保たれ、その結果ライナー14とパ イプ1O112の間に機械的なかみあいが生じる。
図に完全に表示することはできないが、部品間の融接線は、波打つようになる。
図には示していないが、ライナー(4は中央部に、比較的薄いが位置決め停止部 として機能するのに十分かたい外側に延びたデスク、スパイン、或いは他の形成 物を有する。ライナー14を、一方のバイブlO内にデスク又は他の形成物がパ イプの端面に当接して位置決めし、次いでパイプ12を、ライナー14の上に通 し又は、その端面がデスクに当接するまで端方向に進める。デスク又は他の形成 物はパイプの端面間の融接帯域へ溶は込む。パイ室状めすることができる。
組立体の全体を約120°Cまで冷やした後、ヒータ組立体を解放し、パイプか ら取り外す。図3に示すように、仕上がった接合面には、外部に突出部がない。
接合は、2つのパイプ10.12の端面間の界面30での接合及びパイプの端部 部分の内側とライナー14との間の界面32.34での接合を含む。ライナー1 4は、内側から接合部を補強する。ライナー14の肉厚或いはライナーがパイプ の壁に部分的に入り込んだ後のパイプの内側から内方に突出する厚さは、通常の 突き合わせ融接により作られるビードの内方突出最大長さにすぎない。したがっ て、ライナー14の存在によるバイブ中のガス流れの圧力降下は、許容できる。
上述した接合は、例えばS D Rl 7 (Standard Dimens ion Ratio)として特定されたらせん形態で保管され、らせんを解いた とき湾曲形態を保持するタイプのポリエチレンパイプを接合するのに特に適して いる。
例として、以下の寸法は、ポリエチレン製の天然ガス分配バイブを接合する本発 明の典型的な実施例を示す。
、バイブ外径 :125mm パイプ肉圧 :11mm ライナー外径 :102mm ライナー肉厚 :4mm ライナー長さ :40mm 図4及び図5は、第2の実施例を示す。この例では、ライナー44は、肉厚10 mm、外径1.00mmの架橋ポリエチレン管であり、ライナー44は、肉厚1 1mm、外径125mmのポリエチレンバイブl0112の端部分内に遊びばめ をする。
ライナー44を、外径110mmの管を、ダイを用いてスェージ加工し、このス ェージ加工を21°Cで行うことによって作った。
管即ちライナー44が、その外表面に2つのらせん溝46を有するようにライナ ーの外側を機械加工した。抵抗線48を、溝46に従ってまいた。巻き始めは、 ライナーの中央部の第1溝である。線巻は、ライナー44の一方の端まで進んだ 。次いで、線を、第2溝に移し、その溝内でライナー44の他端まで進めた。最 終的に、線を、第1溝に移し、ライナー44の中央部へ戻した。
次いで、 パイプl0112をパイプの端部間にギャップ50を設けてライナー 44の廻りに嵌め、線48の2つの端部をライナー44からギャップ50を通っ て導いた。
次いで、ライナー44の温度を140°Cの結晶融点まで上昇させるのに十分な 電力を有する電流を、線48に流した。ライナーは、スェージ加工前の外径に向 かって膨張する。これにより、ライナーの外表面は、パイプの内表面と接触する 。すると、パイプの内壁の温度は、膨張を続けたライナー表面のセレーション4 6へ融点で流れ込むまで上昇する。加熱時間が終了すると、ライナーは、パイプ 壁に物理的にキー止めされ、融接される。冷えたときに幾分収縮が起こるが、架 橋ポリエチレン及び非架橋ポリエチレンは共に同様な熱膨張係数を有するので、 パイプ壁とライナーが分離する傾向はない。パイプ壁は、肉厚全体に溶融しない ので、パイプの端面間には完全な突き合わせ融接は生じない。
140°Cの重合体結晶融点(Tm)で剛性と弾性を維持する特質を有するので 、例えば、ポリエチレンのような架橋合成プラスチックや例えば、充填剤入りの 高分子ポリエチレンを選択する。
本質的には、このような材料は、結晶構造が溶融しても、固体の状態を維持する 。より低い温度で課せられた過酷な塑性変形(通常の降伏点以上)は、温度Tm 以上で、回復する。規則的な重合体鎖を変形し、配向したこのような高い歪みは 、重合体構造の再配向化及びランダム化により、温度Tm以上で回復する。より 分子量の小さい材料では、温度Tmで液相に変化するのでこのような効果は、見 られない。
上述した方法は、ソケットのような外部接合補助物により形成されるビード又は 突出部の形態のアップセット(すえ込み)材料のような外部突出部の形成を伴う ことなく、パイプのような中空部材又は他の中空部材のバイブ継手、若しくはバ イブ状差し込みを接合する。従って、本方法によりこの形態で接合されるパイプ は、例えば掘削技術を使用して、既存の本管や他の流路へ接合バイブを挿入する ことにより行われる、ガス本管の修復に少なくとも適用できる。
以下は、本発明の範囲内での本方法の変形のいくつかである。
a) ライナーは、互いに融接する(図1から図3)パイプに若干だけ融接し、 或いは融接しない、或いはライナーだけがパイプに融接する。
b) パイプの材料が、互いに異なる。
C) ライナーを、冷間スェージ加工による代わりに、冷間圧延によって冷間加 工する。
d) ライカーの外部セレーションを、押し出しに続いて直ちにスピニング装置 (回し細工)によって形成し、或いは押し出し中に長手方向のセレーションとし て形成する。
e) パイプの外表面に加える加熱は、パイプの端部分に埋設され、或いは取り つけられた組立体或いは要素から供給される。例えば、要素は、合成プラスチッ ク材料のフィルムの中に組みこまれる。組立体又は要素は、所望位置ならば接合 バイブ上に比較的価かな外部突出部を形成するようなものでもよい。
f) 加熱時間を短縮するために外側と内側に熱を加える。例えば、ライナーは 、電磁誘導により加熱される磁性材料の部材を有し、変形例としてマイクロ波加 熱を受けやすい材料を有する。
g) 例えば、上述したように内側だけに熱を加える。
h) 成る適用では、ライナー外側のセレーションなしでずます。
例えば、セレーション16のようにセレーションを用いると、パイプの端部分と ライナー14間の界面に噛み合い効果を与えることができる。パイプがライナー に融接せず、或いは部分的にしか融接していない場合でも、このような効果は、 現存する。
膨張ライナーによってパイプに及ぼされた外向きの圧力により、セレーションは それぞれの場合、パイプの酸化し劣化した表面層に入り込むというもう1つの効 果がある。さもなければ、このような層は、融接を阻止(7、或いは形成される であろう融接の強度を減するであろう。セ1ノージョンによる入り込み効果によ り、パイプの内表面の準備の必要性を回避できる。したがって、セレーションの 使用と膨張ライナーによって及ぼされる外向きの圧力の組み合わせは、特に利点 である。
内部、外部を問わず接合部でのいかなるヒート、パリ、その他のアンプセット材 料は取り除(のが好ましい。
パイプの端部は、パイプの軸線と垂直な端面を備えても良いし、端領域の一部だ け接する面取り端面部を備えても良いし、或いは、重ねそぎ継ぎのような傾斜当 接面を備えてもよい。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1.本発明による合成プラスチック材料の中空部材の接合方法は、前記中空部材 を、その互いに向かい合うの端部分を内側で橋渡しする合成プラスチック材料の ライナーで部材を組み立て、前記端部分及び前記ライナーを加熱してライナーを 膨張させて前記端部分と接触させ、前記部材の前記端面間に形成される融接或い は前記部材と前記ライナー間に形成される融接着しくはこのような接合の組み合 わせにより、前記2つの部材を接合させ、前記ライナーを加熱することからなり 、前記ライナーの前記加熱により、前記ライナーは、流されることなく結晶融点 に達し、より低温で行われた、直径を減ずる変形前に有していた直径を回復する のに、十分な弾性及び剛性を保持することからなる。 2.熱が、前記端部部分の外表面と接触して、或いは外表面に設けられた電気式 加熱組立体或いは要素により加えられる請求項1に記載の方法。 3.前記組立体或いは要素が、前記端部分に接触するクランプ手段を有する請求 項2に記載の方法。 4.前記熱が、前記端部分に埋設され、或いは取りつけられた加熱組立体或いは 要素により加えられる請求項2に記載の方法。 5前記熱が、前記端部分の外表面及び内表面の両方で加えられる請求項1に記載 の方法。 6.前記熱が、前記端部分の内表面だけで加えられる請求項1に記載の方法。 7.前記熱が、電磁誘導或いはマイクロ波或いは電気抵抗要素により加えられる 先行請求項のいずれかに記載の方法。 8.前記ライナーが、その外表面にセレーションを有する先行請求項のいずれか に記載の方法。 9.前記ライナーが、充填剤を含むポリエチレンからなる先行請求項のいずれか に記載の方法。 10.前記充填剤が、炭素である請求項9に記載の方法。 11.前記ライナーが、分子量50万以上の材料からなり、充填剤として微粉炭 素を含有し、前記本体が、押し出しにより形成され、引き続き前記本体の前記外 径を減少するために冷間加工を受ける請求項1に記載の方法。 12.前記ライナーを、押し出し加工により成形し、その後放射線架橋或いは化 学架橋し、さらに前記ライナーの前記外径を減少するために冷間加工をする請求 項1から10のいずれかにに記載の方法。 13.請求項1から12のいずれかに記載の前記方法により、端と端を接合した 中空部材。 14.請求項1から12のいずれかに記載の前記方法により、端と端を接合した 所定長さのパイプの形態の中空部材からなるパイプライン。 15.前記添付図面の図1から図3或いは図4及び図5を参照して本文で実質的 に説明する請求項1に記載の方法。 16.前記添付図面の図1から図3或いは図4及び図5を参照して本文で実質的 に説明する請求項1に記載の前記方法により、端と端を接合した中空部材。
