Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [発明の分野] 本発明は、情報記録媒体の製造方法に関するものである
。さらに詳しくは本発明は、円盤状の樹脂基板に円盤状
の樹脂フィルムを接合する情報記録媒体の製造方法に関
するものである。
[発明の技術的背景] 近年において、レーザービーム等の高エネルギー密度の
ビームを用いる情報記録媒体が開発され、実用化されて
いる。この情報記録媒体は光ディスクと称され、ビデオ
・ディスク、オーディオ・ディスク、さらには大容量静
止画像ファイルおよび大容量コンピュータ用ディスク・
メモリーとして使用されつるものである。
光ディスクは、基本構造としてプラスチック、ガラス等
からなる円盤状の透明基板と、この上に設けられた記録
層とを有する。記録層が設けられる側の基板表面には、
基板の平面性の改善、記録層との接着力の向上あるいは
光ディスクの感度の向上などの点から、高分子物質から
なる下塗層または中間層が設けられていることがある。
また、記録層は、外界の影響を受け易いため、外界から
保護する必要がある。このため、近年では、基板を記録
層が内側になるようにして、内外のスペーサを介して接
合したエアーサンドイッチ構造の光ディスクが一般的と
なっている。
ところが、エアーサンドイッチ構造の光ディスクは上記
のように製造工程が複雑であるため、コストが高くなり
、また、ディスクの厚さが大きくなって、取り扱い性が
悪くなる等の問題があった。
上記の間通を解決するために、基板の記録層が備えられ
た側に保護膜として機能する円盤状の樹脂フィルムを接
合する技術が示されている。
(例、特開昭51−75523号公報)。この場合にお
ける、樹脂フィルムを基板に接着する光ディスクの組立
は、基板に樹脂フィルムを接着剤を用いて接合して行な
っている。
しかし、接着剤を用いて各部材を接合する場合には、−
ディスク当りの接着剤塗布および接着剤固化に各々数七
秒から数分の時間を要し、量産性に乏しい。また、基板
と樹脂フィルムとの接合に際して、接着剤は、基板の外
周および内周の周縁部側や記録層を備えた側に、はみ出
すことがあり、記録層側にはみ出した場合には記録層に
付着して記録層の劣化を引き起こすことがあった。そし
て、この接着剤による接合では、環境状況の変化および
経時によって、樹脂フィルムが基板から剥離することが
あるとの問題もある。
また、特開昭61−104345号公報中において、基
板と樹脂フィルムの接着剤による接合の他にぬい合わせ
、焼き付け、接着テープ巻き、ピン止めおよびくぎ止め
による接合方法が提案されている。
しかし、これらの接合方法は次の様な問題がある。まず
、ピン止めおよびくぎ止めによる接合は、製造工程が複
雑であり、フィル・ムが薄いため取り扱い中にフィルム
を止めた部分から破れを生じることもある。ぬい合わせ
や接着テープ巻きによる接合も製造工程が複雑であり、
経時による糸やテープの老化で、接合状態が悪化したり
見た目の美しさが損なわれるなどの問題がある。
焼き付け、すなわち一般的な熱融着接合で、樹脂フィル
ムを溶融して基板に接合する方法は、樹脂基板への樹脂
フィルムの接合を長期間にわたり良好に維持することが
できる。しかしながら、本発明者の検討によると、樹脂
基板の孔部の周縁の外側に設定した内周側非記録領域お
よび樹脂基板の外周縁部の内側に設定した外周側非記録
領域の両方で樹脂フィルムを樹脂基板に熱融着して接合
すると熱融着は大きな熱を必要とするため、樹脂フィル
ムが、焼き付けによる接合の後に熱収縮を起こし、その
張力により基板に反りが生じゃすいことがわかった。
[発明の目的] 本発明は、樹脂基板の反りが低減された情報記録媒体の
製造方法を提供することを[1的とする。
また、本発明は、熱による記録層の劣化が実質的に発生
せず、樹脂基板と樹脂フィルムの接合を長期間にわたり
良好に維持することが可能な情報記録媒体の製造方法を
提供することを目的とする。
[発明の要旨] 本発明は、中央に孔部を備え、記録層を該孔部の周縁の
外側および外周縁部の内側にそれぞれ設定した内周側非
記録領域および外周側非記録領域の間の領域に設けてな
る円盤状の樹脂基板の記録層側の表面に、中央に孔部を
備えた柔軟性の円盤状の樹脂フィルムを重ね合わせて、
これを、上記樹1指フィルムを上記樹脂基板の外周側非
記録領域にて熱融着により接合する工程:および、上記
樹脂フィルムを一ト記樹脂基板、の内周側非記録領域に
て超音波融着により接合する工程、により上記樹脂フィ
ルムを上記樹脂基板に接合する情報記録媒体の製造方法
にある。
すなわち、前述のように、従来の熱融着法で樹脂基板の
内外の非記録領域の両方で樹脂フィルムの接合を行なう
と融着部で大きな熱が発生するため、樹脂フィルムが熱
により熱収縮を起こし、その樹脂フィルムの熱収縮の張
力で樹脂基板に反りを生じやすい、従って、本発明者は
、さらに検討した結果、樹脂フィルムを、外周側非記録
領域では熱融着法で基板に接合を行なうが、内周側非記
録領域では大きな熱を発生させず熱収縮を起こしにくい
超音波融着法により接合を行なう本発明の情報記録媒体
の製造方法により、反りが低減された情報記録媒体を得
るに至った。
一方、樹脂フィルムを外周側非記録¥1域で超音波融着
法により基板に接合し、内周側非記録領域では熱融着法
により接合する方法が考えられる。
しかし、−数的に超音波融着法は、超音波振動により融
着させる技術であるが、融着面積が大きくなった場合は
、より大きなエネルギーにより融着を行なわなければな
らず、このように大きなエネルギーの超音波融着では、
樹脂フィルムが振動して樹脂基板表面の記録層を損傷す
る場合があり、接合に配慮を必要とする。従フて、本発
明では、Mi音波融着による樹脂フィルムの接合を内周
側非記録領域でのみ行なっている。
[発明の詳細な記述] 本発明を、添付した図面を参照しながら詳しく説明する
。第1図は、本発明に従い、情報記録媒体を製造する方
法を説明するための図である。
第1図において、円盤状の樹脂基板11は、中央に孔部
12を備え、孔部12の周縁の外側および樹脂基板11
の外周縁部の内側にそれぞれ内周側非記録領域13およ
び外周側、非記録領域14が設定されており、各非記録
領域の間の領域には記録層15が備えられている。
円盤状の樹脂基板11の記録層15側の表面に、柔軟性
がある樹脂フィルム16を重ね合わせる。樹脂フィルム
16は、中央に孔aIs17を備えている。そして、こ
の重ね合わせた樹脂基板11および樹脂フィルム16を
樹脂基板11が受け治具18の収容部に接するように配
置する。
そして、第一工程において、樹脂フィルム16を樹脂基
板11の外周側非記録領域14にインパルスシーラー1
9により融着接合する。インパルスシーラー19は、抵
抗体よりなるリング状シールパー20が圧着板21に支
持された構成となっている。リング状シールパー20は
、発熱のむらができないように、給電線22をリング状
シールパー20の対称位置に結線していることが好まし
い。圧着板21は、絶縁性および断熱性がある。
融着接合のとき、圧着板21に支持されたリング状シー
ルパー20を下降させる。リング状シールパー20は、
上記基板11の外周側非記録領域14に対応する位置で
上記樹脂フィルム16を加圧する。この状態を維持しな
がら、リング状シールパー20に、電流を瞬間的に流し
て、発熱させ、上記樹脂フィルム16を上記樹脂基板1
1の外周側非記録jri域14にて融着接合する。
次に第二工程において、樹脂フィルム16を樹脂基板1
1の内周側非記録領域13に超音波融着機23により融
着接合する。超音波融着機23は、超音波融着機のリン
グ状凸部24を有する印加ホーン25を備えた構成とな
っており、超音波が超音波発振機26から発振され、コ
ンバータ27を経て印加ホーン25に伝達するようにさ
れている。
融着接合のとき、超音波融着機23の印加ホーン25を
下降させて、リング状凸部で、上記樹脂基板11の内周
側非記録領域13に対応する位置で上記樹脂フィルム1
6を加圧する。この状態を維持しながら印加ホーン25
に超音波を印加して、上記樹脂フィルム16を上記樹脂
基板11の内周側非記録領域13に融着接合する。
本発明の情報記録媒体の製造方法において、上記の説明
のように、樹脂基板への樹脂フィルムの接合を、第一工
程で外周側非記録領域で熱融着を行ない、次いで、第二
工程で内周側の非記録領域で超音波により融着を行なう
という順序で接合を完了させると、樹脂フィルムの接合
作業を円滑に行なうことができるため好ましい。
樹脂基板の外周側の非記録領域の融着を上記説明で示し
たようにインパルスシールにより行なった場合は、融着
部分のみを瞬間的な発熱により融着するので熱収縮が従
来の熱融着より小さくなるため好ましい。
樹脂基板と樹脂フィルムとの内周側非記録領域での超音
波融着は、樹脂基板または樹脂フィルムのいずれかの融
着面にリング状のエネルギーダイレクタ−を備えた場合
、融着を容易に行なうことが可能なため好ましい。さら
に、Mrf波融着機のリング状凸部の圧着面にリング中
心から延びる複数の放射線状の模様、格子状の模様また
は複数の点状等の模様の隆起を備えて、こ、れにより融
着を行なうようにすると、前記の隆起で加圧された樹脂
フィルムの断面が、隆起の断面の形状に近くなり、エネ
ルギーダイレクタ−の役目をする。そのため、樹JAM
板または樹脂フィルムにエネルギーダイレクタ−を備え
ることなく融着を容易に行なうことが可能であり、特に
好ましい。
第2図は、第1図で説明した情報記録媒体の製造方法に
より製造した情報記録媒体28を示している。中央に孔
部17を有する円盤状樹脂フィルム16が、中央に孔部
12を有する円盤状樹脂基板11の記録層15が備えら
れている側の表面のに接合されている。接合は、外周側
非記録領域14では、インパルスシールにより融着接合
され、内周側非記録領域13で超音波により融着接合さ
れている。
なお、第1図で説明した情報記録媒体の製造方法は、本
発明に従うものであるが、上記のような構成に限定され
るものではない。
たとえば、樹脂基板の外周側非記録領域でのインパルス
シールと内周側の非記録領域での超音波融着とを逆の順
序の製造工程で行ない樹脂基板に樹脂フィルムを接合し
てもよい。
インパルスシーラーのリング状シールバーの圧着面にも
リング中心から延びる複数の放射線状の模様、格子状の
模様または複数の点状等の模様を刻んで融着な行なうよ
うにしてもよい。さらに、所望により、シールバーの圧
着面にテフロンテープを貼り付け、融着後のシールバー
と樹脂フィルムの分離が容易になるようにしてもよい。
また、樹脂基板と樹脂フィルムとの接合により記録層の
領域に形成される空間と外部空間との間の空気の流通を
可能にするために、熱融着をするリング状凸部または超
音波融着をするリング状シールバーに切り欠き溝を備え
て融着を行ない、樹脂基板と樹脂フィルムとの融着部に
非接触部を残すようにしてもよい。
さらに、円盤状の樹脂基板は、上記で説明したような平
板状のものでなくてもよく、内周側の非記録領域にスペ
ーサとして機能するリング状の凸部を備えた基板を用い
て、円盤状の樹脂フィルムを上記リング状の凸部および
外周側の非記録領域で融着接合し、樹脂フィルムが実質
的に殆ど記録層に接触しないようにしてもよい。
本発明の情報記録媒体を構成する基板、記録層およびフ
ィルムとしては、本発明の特徴的構成の部分以外につい
ては、公知のものが任意に利用できるので、これらにつ
いて、以下に簡単に説明する。
まず、本発明において使用する樹脂基板は、従来より情
報記録媒体の基板として用いられている各種の樹脂材料
から任意に選択することができI る。基板の光学的特性、平面性、加工性、取扱い性、経
時安定性および製造コストなどの点から、基板材料の例
としては、セルキャストポリメチルメタクリレート、射
出成形ポリメチルメタクリレート、ポリメチルアクリレ
ート等のアクリル系樹脂:ポリ塩化ビニル、塩化ビニル
共重合体等の塩化ビニル系樹脂:エボキシ樹脂;非晶質
ポリオレフィン樹脂;およびポリカーボネートなどの合
成樹脂を好ましく挙げることができる。これらのうちで
す度安定性、透明性および平面性などの点から、好まし
いものはポリメチルメタクリレート、ポリカーボネート
、およびエポキシ樹脂である。
記録層が設けられる側の基板表面には、平面性の改善、
接着力の向上および記録層の変質の防止の目的で、下塗
層(および/または中間層)が設けられていてもよい。
下塗層(および/または中間層)の材料としては、たと
えば、ポリメチルメタクリレート、アクリル酸・メタク
リル酸共重合体、ニトロセルロース、ポリエチレン、塩
素化ポリオレフィン、ポリプロピレン、ポリカーボネー
ト等の高分子物質;シランカップリング剤などの有機物
質;および無機酸化物(S i O2、AIL、0.等
)、無機弗化物(MgFz)などの無機物質を挙げるこ
とができる。
記録層に用いられる材料の例としては、Te、Zn、I
n、Sn、Zr、A2、Ti% Cu、Ge、Au、P
t等の金属;Bi、As、Sb等の半金属:Si等の半
導体;およびこれらの合金またはこれらの組合わせを挙
げることができる。
また、これらの金属、半金属または半導体の硫化物、酸
化物、ホウ化物、ケイ素化合物、炭化物および窒化物等
の化合物:およびこれらの化合物と金属との混合物も記
録層に用いることができる。あるいは、色素、色素とポ
リマー、色素と前掲の金属および半金属との組合わせを
利用することもできる。
記録層には、さらに記録層材料として公知の各種の金属
、半金属あるいはそれらの化合物などが含有されていて
もよい。
記録層は、上記材料を蒸着、スパッタリング、イオンブ
レーティング、塗布などの方法により基板上に直接にま
たは下塗層を介して形成することができる。記録層は単
層または重層でもよいが、その層Jグは光情報記録に要
求される光学濃度の点から一般に!00〜5500又の
範囲であり、好ましくは150〜1000又の範囲であ
る。
なお、基板の記録層が設けられる側とは反対側の表面に
は耐傷性、防湿性などを高めるために、たとえば二酸化
ケイ素、酸化スズ、弗化マグネシウムなどの無機物?!
t:熱可塑性樹脂、光硬化型樹脂などの高分子物質から
なる薄膜が真空蒸着、スパッタリングまたは塗布等の方
法により設けられていてもよい。さらにまた、記録層は
記録領域以外の融着部に設けられていてもよい。
円盤状樹脂フィルムの材質としては、アクリル系樹脂、
塩化ビニル系樹脂、ポリスチレン系樹脂、ポリアミド系
樹脂、ポリオレフィン系樹脂(例、ポリプロピレン、ポ
リエチレン)、ポリカーボネート、ポリエステル系樹脂
、およびポリ塩化ビニリデン等の熱=Jffi性樹脂を
挙げることができる。超γf波融着法および熱融着法に
より、基板と良好に融着するものであれば、その材料に
特に限定はない。本発明の目的上、基板材料と同一の材
料を使用することが特に好ましい。また、樹脂フィルム
の厚さは10〜500μmの範囲であり、好ましい範囲
は、50〜100μmである。
[発明の効果] 本発明の情報記録媒体の製造方法では、樹脂基板への樹
脂フィルムの接合を、外周側非記録領域での熱融着と、
内周側非記録領域での超音波融着との組み合わせにより
行なう。そのため、樹脂基板が樹脂フィルムの熱収縮の
影響を受けにくく、反りが低減した情報記録媒体を得る
ことが可能である。
また、本発明の情報記録媒体の製造方法では、樹脂基板
と樹脂フィルムとの接合を融着接合により行なフて情報
記録媒体を製造するため、情報記録媒体の環境状況が経
時に伴ない変化しても、樹詣基板からの樹脂フィルムの
剥離は、顕薯に低減し、樹脂基板と樹脂フィルムとの良
好な接合を長期間にわたり維持することが可能である。
従って、本発明により製造した情報記録媒体では、記録
層の記録特性が、樹脂フィルムに保護されて長期的に安
定する。
【図面の簡単な説明】
第1図および第2図は、本発明の情報記録媒体の製造方

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1、中央に孔部を備え、記録層を該孔部の周縁の外側お
    よび外周縁部の内側にそれぞれ設定した内周側非記録領
    域および外周側非記録領域の間の領域に設けてなる円盤
    状の樹脂基板の記録層側の表面に、中央に孔部を備えた
    柔軟性の円盤状の樹脂フィルムを重ね合わせて、これを
    、 上記樹脂フィルムを上記樹脂基板の外周側非記録領域に
    て熱融着により接合する工程;および、上記樹脂フィル
    ムを上記樹脂基板の内周側非記録領域にて超音波融着に
    より接合する工程、により上記樹脂フィルムを上記樹脂
    基板に接合することを特徴とする情報記録媒体の製造方
    法。 2、上記円盤状の樹脂基板の記録層側の表面に、上記円
    盤状の樹脂フィルムを重ね合わせて、これを樹脂基板が
    受け治具の収容部に接するように配置し、次いで、 圧着板に支持された抵抗体よりなるリング状シールバー
    を備えたインパルスシーラーのシールバーで上記基板の
    外周側非記録領域に対応する位置で上記樹脂フィルムを
    加圧し、シールバーに、電流を瞬間的に流して発熱させ
    、上記樹脂フィルムを上記樹脂基板の外周側非記録領域
    にて融着接合する第一工程;および、 超音波印加用のリング状凸部を有する印加ホーンを備え
    た超音波融着機の該リング状凸部で上記基板の内周側非
    記録領域に対応する位置で上記樹脂フィルムを加圧し、
    印加ホーンに超音波を印加して、上記円盤状樹脂フィル
    ムを上記円盤状樹脂基板の内周側非記録領域に融着接合
    する第二工程、 により上記樹脂フィルムを上記樹脂基板に接合すること
    を特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項記載の情報記録媒体
    の製造方法。 3、上記樹脂基板と上記樹脂フィルムとの融着接合が、
    樹脂基板と樹脂フィルムとから形成される空間と外部空
    間との間の空気の流通が可能なように非接触部を残して
    なされることを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項記載の
    情報記録媒体の製造方法。
