の関係を満たすことがより好ましい。これは隣接金属間化合物の重心間横方向距離の大部分(平均dよりも小さいか、または平均よりも大きくても平均dから3σ以内にあるもの)が、150/T以下になること、すなわち、膜厚Tが大きければこの距離d+3σは小さくなくてはならず、膜厚Tが小さければこの距離d+3σは大きくてもよいことを示す。膜厚Tが大きければ疲労脱落が起こりやすいために、金属間化合物は密であることが求められる。
断面観察は、摺動部材の任意箇所を表面に垂直方向に切断し、機械研磨、イオンミリング、ミクロトーム、ワイヤソーなどの前処理を行い、走査型電子顕微鏡(SEM)によるCOMP像(反射電子組成像)や電子プローブマイクロアナライザー(EPMA)等によりオーバーレイの組織観察を行う。材料に応じて、金属間化合物とマトリクスの境界が識別できる適当な観察手段を用いることが好ましい。観察視野は、横方向にオーバーレイの膜厚の少なくとも2.5倍が観察できることが好ましい。
表2は、金属間化合物の摺動面に平行方向の長さとオーバーレイ厚さ(めっき厚さ)との比が疲労特性(疲労未発生面積率)に与える影響を示したものである。
Claims (9)
- 軸受合金上にオーバーレイを備える摺動部材であって、
前記オーバーレイは3~50μmの厚さを有し、
前記オーバーレイは、厚さTを規定する摺動面および前記軸受合金との界面を有し、前記オーバーレイはBi又はBi合金のマトリクスおよび該マトリクスに分散する金属間化合物を有し、該金属間化合物は、Bi、Sn、Cu、Zn、Co、Mn、Ni、In、Sb、Agから選択される少なくとも2種を含み、
前記摺動面から前記界面に向かって前記厚さTの70%~75%の厚さ領域における、前記厚さ領域の体積に対する前記金属間化合物の体積比率が10%~70%であることを特徴とする、摺動部材。 - 前記摺動面に垂直な断面視で、前記摺動面から前記厚さTの75%までの厚さ領域に存在する金属間化合物は、前記摺動面に平行な方向の長さが前記厚さTの2.5倍未満であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載された摺動部材。
- 前記摺動面に垂直な断面視で、前記摺動面から前記厚さTの70%~75%の厚さ領域に存在する金属間化合物のうち、少なくとも、前記摺動面から前記厚さTの70%の位置から、前記摺動面から前記厚さTの75%の位置にわたって延在する金属間化合物が、前記摺動面に平行な方向に前記厚さTの2.5倍の長さ当たり少なくとも3個存在する、請求項1又は請求項2に記載された摺動部材。
- 前記摺動面に垂直な断面視で、前記少なくとも3個の金属間化合物のうちの少なくとも1個は、その近似楕円が、該近似楕円の長軸が前記摺動面に垂直な方向となす角度が70°以下であることを特徴とする、請求項3に記載された摺動部材。
- 前記摺動面に垂直な断面視で、前記少なくとも3個の金属間化合物のうちの少なくとも2個は、その近似楕円が、該近似楕円の長軸が前記摺動面に垂直な方向となす角度が70°以下であり、該少なくとも2個の金属間化合物のうちの隣接する金属間化合物の重心間の前記摺動面に平行な方向の平均距離d、およびそれらの標準偏差σが、μm単位で、
d+3σ ≦ 150/T
の関係を満たすことを特徴とする、請求項3に記載された摺動部材。 - 前記オーバーレイは、前記摺動面を含む、前記金属間化合物の体積比率が5%以下であるなじみ層を有することを特徴とする、請求項1から請求項5までのいずれか1項に記載された摺動部材。
- 前記なじみ層の前記BiまたはBi合金のマトリクスの結晶粒は、20%以上の等方性指数を有することを特徴とする、請求項6に記載された摺動部材。
- 請求項1から請求項7までのいずれか1項に記載された摺動部材を有する軸受。
- 請求項8に記載された軸受を有する内燃機関。
