Description
以下、本発明に係る帯電部材の一実施形態として、ローラ状の帯電部材(以下、「帯電ローラ」と称す場合がある。)を例に挙げ説明する。帯電部材の形状は、特に限定されるものではなく、ローラ状、板状といったいずれの形状であってもよい。
表面層3は、アルミニウム、チタン、ジルコニウムおよびタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも一つの金属原子を含むポリメタロキサンを含み、該ポリメタロキサン中の少なくとも一つの該金属原子に、下記式(1)〜(4)で表される基から選択される少なくとも一つの基が結合している。
支持体1としては、感光体と当接に十分な剛性を持つ必要があり、金属材料が好ましく用いられる。金属材料としては、具体的には、鉄、銅、ステンレス鋼、アルミニウム、アルミニウム合金、ニッケルが挙げられる。また、フィラーで強化された樹脂性の支持体を用いることも可能である。
弾性層2を構成する材料としては、従来から帯電部材の弾性層として用いられているゴムや熱可塑性エラストマーといった弾性体を1種又は2種以上用いることができる。
表面層3は、支持体1上、又は、弾性層2上にコーティング液を塗布し、形成された塗膜を乾燥させることにより形成される。コーティング液は、有機溶剤中、金属アルコキシドと、下記式(5)〜(8)で表される化合物から選択される少なくとも1つ化合物と、を混合することにより得ることができる。
図2に、本発明の帯電部材を有する電子写真装置の一例を、図3に本発明の帯電部材を有するプロセスカートリッジの一例を示す。
下記表2に示した材料を6L加圧ニーダー(商品名:TD6−15MDX、トーシン社製)にて、充填率70体積%、ブレード回転数30rpmで24分混合して、未加硫ゴム組成物を得た。この未加硫ゴム組成物174質量部に対して、加硫促進剤としてのテトラベンジルチウラムジスルフィド[商品名:サンセラーTBzTD、三新化学工業(株)製]4.5部、加硫剤としての硫黄1.2部を加えた。
(実施例;コーティング液E1〜E9の調製)
ガラス製の容器に、p−トルエンスルホン酸0.46g、エタノール97.3gを秤取したのち、撹拌して溶解させた。ここにジルコニウムプロポキシド70wt%プロパノール溶液2.29gを加え、撹拌してコーティング液E1を調製した。
ガラス製の容器にエタノール96.2gを秤取したのち、ジルコニウムプロポキシド70wt%プロパノール溶液3.80gを加え、撹拌してコーティング液C1を調製した。下記表4に記載されている材料と秤量値に変えた以外はコーティング液C1と同様に方法により、コーティング液C2〜コーティング液C3を調製した。
導電性弾性ローラNo.1上にコーティング液E1を、吐出量0.120ml/s(リング部のスピード:85mm/s)でリング塗布した。これを常温、常圧で放置して乾燥させた後に、254nmの波長の紫外線を、積算光量が9000mJ/cm2になるように塗工後のローラの表面に照射し、表面層を形成した。紫外線の照射には低圧水銀ランプ[東芝ライテック(株)製]を用いた。以上のようにして帯電部材E1を作製した。
(1)塗膜の構造解析
まず、ジルコニウムn−ブトキシドをエタノールに溶解させ、ここに多量のイオン交換水を加えて撹拌し、析出した固体を160℃で1時間焼成してサンプルAを作製した。また、コーティング液E2を160℃で1時間焼成してサンプルBを作製した。
測定条件
X線源:Al Kα線
X線出力:15KV、25W
ビーム径:φ100μm
測定領域:300μm×300μm
検出角度:45度
コーティング液E1をステンレス鋼製の基板にスピンコート(200rpm、30秒)し、120℃で30分焼成することにより、帯電量測定用の試料板E1を作製した。コーティング液E2〜コーティング液E9及びコーティング液C4〜コーティング液C5を使用した以外は、試料板E1と同様の作製方法により、試料板E2〜試料板E9及び試料板C4および試料板C5を作製した。
帯電部材表面のQ/W値が高いほど、帯電部材は、負帯電性トナーと摺擦した時にトナーをより負帯電化させやすい。したがって上記方法で測定した帯電量Q/Wが高い程、作製したコーティング液を用いて表面層が形成された帯電部材は、弱負帯電又は正帯電のトナーが静電的に帯電部材に付着することを抑制する効果があるといえる。
HP社製プリンター「HPColorLaserJetCP4525」用のシアンカートリッジを用意し、カートリッジにセットされている帯電部材を取出して先に作製した帯電部材E1に置き換えた。HP社製プリンター「HPColorLaserJetCP4525」に上記のカートリッジをセットし、低温低湿環境下(10℃、15%RH)にて、ハーフトーン画像を12000枚出力した。次いで、当該カートリッジから帯電部材E1を取り出し、表面を目視で観察し、以下の基準で評価した。
ランク「A」:表面に汚れの付着がほとんど認められない、または、汚れの付着が認められるもののわずかである。
ランク「C」:表面に多くの汚れの付着が認められる。

Claims (6)
- 支持体と、該支持体上の表面層とを備えた帯電部材であって、
該表面層は、
アルミニウム、チタン、ジルコニウムおよびタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも一つの金属原子を含むポリメタロキサンを含み、
該ポリメタロキサン中の少なくとも一つの該金属原子に、下記式(1)〜(4)で表される基から選択される少なくとも一つの基が結合していることを特徴とする帯電部材:
(式(1)〜(4)中、X1およびX2は、それぞれ独立して、炭素数1〜20のアルキル基、または、炭素数6〜20の置換もしくは未置換のアリール基を表し、R1〜R5は、それぞれ独立して、水素原子、または、炭素数1〜20のアルキル基を表し、A1は芳香環を形成するのに必要な原子群を表し、記号「*」は、ポリメタロキサン中の金属原子との結合部位を表す。)。 - 前記ポリメタロキサン中、前記式(1)〜(4)で表される基から選択される少なくとも一つの基は、前記金属原子1モルに対して、0.1モル以上3モル以下含まれている請求項1に記載の帯電部材。
- 前記ポリメタロキサン中、前記式(1)〜(4)で表される基から選択される少なくとも一つの基は、前記金属原子1モルに対して、1モル以上3モル以下含まれている請求項2に記載の帯電部材。
- 電子写真感光体と、該電子写真感光体の表面を帯電可能に配置された帯電部材とを備え、かつ、電子写真装置の本体に着脱可能に構成されているプロセスカートリッジであって、該帯電部材が請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材であることを特徴とするプロセスカートリッジ。
- 電子写真感光体と、該電子写真感光体の表面を帯電可能に配置された帯電部材とを備えている電子写真装置であって、該帯電部材が請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の帯電部材であることを特徴とする電子写真装置。
