Description
共晶組成(Al−33%wtCu)またはこれに近い組成、例えば亜共晶組成のAl−28wt%Cuの溶湯を用意する。このような組成の溶湯は、商業的に入手可能なAl−Cu母合金を溶解することにより容易に作成することができる。勿論、自らそのような組成の合金を作成してもよい。この溶湯の温度は、800〜1000℃とする。
反射炉10内の溶融したAl−Cu母合金が800〜1000℃の範囲内の所定温度となり、かつ、反射炉10内の酸素濃度が低い状態で安定した後、図示しない材料投入口から、グラファイト粒子(粉末でも顆粒でもよい)及び硼素または硼素化合物を含む加炭促進剤粒子(粉末でも顆粒でもよい)が反射炉10内に投入される。グラファイト粒子は加炭促進剤粒子に付着して溶湯の自然対流に乗って溶湯中に分散する。溶湯の自然対流により十分な溶湯の均質性を確保することは可能である。なお、非接触式電磁攪拌装置(スターラー)等の公知の攪拌手段を用いて溶湯を攪拌し、グラファイト粒子及び加炭促進剤粒子の溶湯中へのより均一な分散を促進しても構わない。
その後、溶湯は、反射炉10の下部に設けられた図示しない出湯口から適当な鋳型に流し込まれ、そこで凝固する。以上により、Al−Cu−C三元合金の鋳込み終了する。その後、このようにして得たAl−Cu−C三元合金のインゴットに対して、必要に応じて圧延、熱処理等が行われる。
Claims (7)
- Cu及びCを含むAl合金を製造する方法であって、
Cuを含むAlの溶湯を準備する工程と、
前記Cuを含む前記Alの溶湯に、800℃〜1000℃の範囲内の溶湯温度で、低酸素雰囲気またはシールドガス雰囲気で、グラファイト粒子と、硼素または硼素化合物を含む加炭促進剤粒子とを添加する工程と、
前記グラファイト粒子が前記Cuを含む前記Alの溶湯内に溶解した後に、ドロス状となって前記Cuを含む前記Alの溶湯の表面に浮かぶ加炭促進剤を除去する工程と、
前記グラファイト粒子が溶解した前記Cuを含む前記Alの溶湯を鋳型に鋳込む工程と、
を備えた方法。 - 前記グラファイト粒子及び前記加炭促進剤が添加される前記Cuを含むAlの溶湯は、Cuを含み残部がAl及び不可避的不純物からなるAl−Cu二元合金の溶湯である、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記Al−Cu二元合金はCuを27〜36wt%含む、請求項2記載の方法。
- 前記グラファイト粒子及び前記加炭促進剤粒子を添加した後の溶湯に、さらに、少なくともAlを添加する工程を備えた、請求項1から3のうちのいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記グラファイト粒子及び前記加炭促進剤粒子を添加した後の溶湯に、さらに、Cu以外の合金元素を添加する工程を備えた、請求項4記載の方法。
- 前記グラファイト粒子及び前記加炭促進剤が添加される前記Cuを含むAlの溶湯は、Cuと、少なくとも一種類のCu以外の合金元素とを含み、残部がAl及び不可避的不純物からなる合金の溶湯である、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも一種類のCu以外の合金元素はSiを含む、請求項6記載の方法。
