Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the wear resistance and seizure resistance of a cylinder liner material for internal combustion engine by adding one or more ceramic wear-resistance aggregate selected from specific oxides, carbides, nitrides, and borides in addition to graphite powder to an Al alloy base material.
CONSTITUTION: The cylinder liner material for internal combustion engine is obtained by uniformly dispersing 1W8wt% graphite powder and 1W30wt% one or more ceramic wear-resistant aggregate selected from Al2O3, ZrO2, MgO, SiO2, Y2O3, SiC, WC, TiC, Si3N4, BN, TiN, AlN, ZrB2, Ni2B, NbB, and AlB2 into an Al alloy base material. The cylinder liner material is excellent in wear resistance, galling resistance, and seizure resistance, as well as in lightness, and also can be manufactured easily at low cost.
