Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve durability by reducing the deposition of carbon on the inner surface of a wall within an oven, by a method wherein a calcined coating layer consisting of an inorg. binder and particle contg. silicon carbide particle, silicon nitride particle or graphite particle, is formed on the surface of a lining refractory.
CONSTITUTION: A calcined coating layer consists of a matrix part 14 composed of an inorg. binder and a particle part composed of 10W100wt% (based on the combined weight of particles) of a member 12 contg. at least one selected from silicon carbide particle, silicon nitride particle and graphite particle and 90W0wt% of an oxide refractory particle 13. The calcined coating layer is formed on the surface of a lining refractory 8 of at least one member selected from an oven lid 1, a riser 2 and a lime charging port 3. The reason for which the graphite particle, etc. are used within the range of 10W100wt%, is that, when below 10wt%, it is not sufficient to prevent the deposition of carbon but it is of no practical use. The silicon carbide, etc. are more difficult of obtain than the oxide refractory. Hence, it is preferred to use 0W90wt% of the oxide refractory instead of the silicon carbide, etc.
