Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である有機金属錯体の合成方法について説明する。なお、以下では有機イリジウム錯体の合成方法に関して主に説明を行うが、本態様は有機イリジウム錯体に限られることは無く、有機白金錯体、有機ロジウム錯体などの合成方法も含む。
はじめに、下記一般式(G0)で示される5,6−ジアリール−2−ピラジルトリフラートの合成方法について説明する。
次に、合成スキーム(A−2)に示すように5,6−ジアリール−2−ピラジルトリフラート(一般式(G0))と、アリールボロン酸(一般式(a3))と、をカップリングさせることにより、アリール基を置換基として有するトリアリールピラジン誘導体(一般式(G1))を合成する。
次に、上記トリアリールピラジン誘導体を用いて形成される、下記一般式(G2)で示される有機金属錯体の合成方法について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である合成方法により得られた有機金属錯体をEL材料として用いる発光素子の一態様について図1を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である合成方法により得られた有機金属錯体をEL材料としてEL層に用い、電荷発生層を挟んでEL層を複数有する構造の発光素子(以下、タンデム型発光素子という)を作製する場合について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である合成方法により得られた有機金属錯体を、EL材料として発光層に用いた発光素子を有する発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である合成方法により得られた有機金属錯体をEL材料として用いた発光装置を適用して完成させた様々な電子機器の一例について、図4を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である合成方法により得られた有機金属錯体を含む発光装置を適用した照明装置の一例について、図5を用いて説明する。
本実施例では、本発明の一態様である合成方法を適用した有機金属錯体、ビス{4,6−ジメチル−2−[5−(2,6−ジメチルフェニル)−3−(3,5−ジメチルフェニル)−2−ピラジニル−κN]フェニル−κC}(2,8−ジメチル−4,6−ノナンジオナト−κ2O,O’)イリジウム(III)(略称:[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2(divm)])(構造式(300))の合成方法について説明する。なお、[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2(divm)]の構造を以下に示す。
まず、3,3’,5,5’−テトラメチルベンジル5.33g(20mmol)、グリシンアミド塩酸塩2.65g(24mmol)、水酸化ナトリウム1.92g(48mmol)、メタノール50mLを1L三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。この混合物を3時間加熱還流させた。
次に、上記ステップ1で得られた5,6−ビス(3,5−ジメチルフェニル)ピラジン−2−オール3.96g(13mmol)を200mLの3つ口フラスコに入れ窒素置換した後、窒素雰囲気下、ジクロロメタン(略称:DCM)65mL、トリエチルアミン(略称:NEt3)3.6mLを加えた。この溶液に0℃にてトリフルオロメタンスルホン酸無水物(略称:Tf2O)2.8mL(16.9mmol)を滴下し、0℃で30分間、室温で12時間攪拌した。
次に、上記ステップ2で得られた5,6−ビス(3,5−ジメチルフェニル)−2−ピラジルトリフラート2.18g(5.0mmol)、2,6−ジメチルフェニルボロン酸0.90g(6.0mmol)、リン酸三カリウム3.82g(18mmol)、トルエン37mL、水4mLを、200mLの3つ口フラスコに入れ、減圧して脱気処理をした後、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。トリス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)ジパラジウム(0)(略称:Pd2(dba)3)46mg(0.05mmol)、トリス(2,6−ジメトキシフェニル)ホスフィン88mg(0.20mmol)を加え、2時間加熱還流した。
次に、上記ステップ3で得られたHdmdppr−dmp1.77g(4.5mmol)、塩化イリジウム(III)水和物0.71g(2.25mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール45mL、水15mLを、丸底フラスコに入れ、約10分間アルゴンをバブリングさせてフラスコ内をアルゴン置換し、マイクロ波(2.45GHz、100W)を2時間照射して加熱した。なお本明細書中では、マイクロ波の照射はマイクロ波合成装置(CEM社製 Discover)を用いた。
次に、上記ステップ4で得られた[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2Cl]21.72g、2,8−ジメチル−4,6−ノナンジオン(略称:Hdivm)0.47g、炭酸ナトリウム0.90g、2−エトキシエタノール9mLを、丸底フラスコに入れ、約10分間アルゴンをバブリングさせてフラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz、120W)を2時間照射し、反応させた。得られた混合物から溶媒を留去し、その残渣をメタノールで懸濁させて吸引ろ過した後、水及びメタノールで洗浄した。
本実施例では、本発明の一態様である合成方法を適用した有機金属錯体、ビス[2−(3,5−ジフェニル−2−ピラジニル−κN)−フェニル−κC](2,2,6,6−テトラメチル−3,5−ヘプタンジオナト−κ2O,O’)イリジウム(III)(略称:[Ir(tppr)2(dpm)])(構造式(310))の合成方法について説明する。なお、[Ir(tppr)2(dpm)]の構造を以下に示す。
まず、ベンジル21.0g(100mmol)、グリシンアミド塩酸塩13.3g(120mmol)、水酸化ナトリウム9.6g(240mmol)、メタノール500mLを1L三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。この混合物を、3時間加熱還流させた。
次に、上記ステップ1で得られた5,6−ジフェニルピラジン−2−オール18.6g(75mmol)を2Lの3つ口フラスコに入れ、窒素置換した後、窒素雰囲気下、ジクロロメタン750mL、トリエチルアミン21mLを加えた。この溶液に0℃にてトリフルオロメタンスルホン酸無水物16.4mL(97.5mmol)を滴下し、0℃で30分間、室温で12時間攪拌した。
次に、上記ステップ2で得られた5,6−ジフェニル−2−ピラジルトリフラート13.3g(35mmol)、フェニルボロン酸5.12g(42mmol)、リン酸三カリウム26.8g(126mmol)、トルエン260mL、水26mLを、500mLの3つ口フラスコに入れ、減圧下で脱気処理をした後、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。トリス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)ジパラジウム(0)(略称:Pd2(dba)3)321mg(0.35mmol)、トリス(2,6−ジメトキシフェニル)ホスフィン619mg(1.40mmol)を加え、2時間加熱還流した。
次に、上記ステップ3で得られたHtppr9.25g(30mmol)、塩化イリジウム(III)水和物4.75g(15mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール300mL、水100mLを、1Lの3つ口フラスコに入れ、約10分間アルゴンをバブリングさせてフラスコ内をアルゴン置換し、マイクロ波(2.45GHz、400W)を3時間照射して加熱した。
次に、上記ステップ4で得られた[Ir(tppr)2Cl]210.1g、2,2,6,6−テトラメチル−3,5−ヘプタンジオン(略称:Hdpm)3.32g、炭酸ナトリウム6.36g、2−エトキシエタノール60mLを、300mLの3つ口フラスコに入れ、約10分間アルゴンをバブリングさせてフラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz、400W)を1時間照射し、反応させた。得られた混合物をろ過し、ろ物をエタノールで洗浄した後、水及びエタノールで洗浄した。
本実施例では、本発明の一態様である合成方法を適用した有機金属錯体、ビス{2−[5−(2,6−ジメチルフェニル)−3−フェニル−2−ピラジニル−κN]−フェニル−κC}(2,8−ジメチル−4,6−ノナンジオナト−κ2O,O’)イリジウム(III)(略称:[Ir(dppr−dmp)2(divm)])(構造式(312))の合成方法について説明する。なお、[Ir(dppr−dmp)2(divm)]の構造を以下に示す。
まず、ベンジル4.2g(20mmol)、グリシンアミド塩酸塩2.21g(20mmol)、メタノール40mLを、還流管を付けた三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換し、還流させた。水酸化ナトリウム1.6g(40mmol)の水3.2mLの水溶液を加え、還流を3時間行った。その後、フラスコの温度が室温に戻るまで攪拌した。この混合物に12M濃塩酸2.5mL、炭酸水素カリウム2g、水25mLを加え、ろ過した。
次に、上記ステップ1で得た5,6−ジフェニルピラジン−2−オール2.48g(10mmol)、ジクロロメタン100mL、トリエチルアミン2.8mLを三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換し、0℃でトリフルオロメタンスルホン酸無水物2.4mLを滴下し、0℃で1時間30分攪拌し、室温で12時間攪拌した。
次に、上記ステップ2で得た5,6−ジフェニル−2−ピラジルトリフラート2.66g(7.0mmol)、2,6−ジメチルフェニルボロン酸2.10g(14mmol)、炭酸ナトリウム2.23g(21.0mmol)、N,N−ジメチルホルムアミド(略称:DMF)24mL、水24mLを、還流管を付けた丸底フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換し、ビス(トリフェニルホスフィン)パラジウム(II)ジクロリド(略称:PdCl2(PPh3)2)49.1mg(0.07mmol)を加え、マイクロ波(2.45GHz 100W)を2時間照射した。
次に、上記ステップ3で得られたHdppr−dmp0.84g(2.5mmol)、塩化イリジウム(III)水和物0.38g(1.2mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール30mL、水10mLを、還流管を付けた丸底フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内をアルゴン置換し、マイクロ波(2.45GHz、100W)を2時間照射することで加熱した。
次に、上記ステップ4で得られた[Ir(dppr−dmp)2Cl]20.46g(0.26mmol)、2,8−ジメチル−4,6−ノナンジオン(略称:Hdivm)0.14g(0.78mmol)、炭酸ナトリウム0.28g(2.6mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール20mLを、還流管を付けた丸底フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz 120W)を1時間照射し、反応させた。溶媒を留去し、得られた残渣を、メタノールで吸引ろ過、洗浄した。
本実施例では、本発明の一態様である5,6−ビス(4−メチルフェニル)−2−ピラジルトリフラート(構造式(105))の合成方法について説明する。なお、5,6−ビス(4−メチルフェニル)−2−ピラジルトリフラートの構造を以下に示す。
まず、4,4’−ジメチルベンジル5.5g(23mmol)、グリシンアミド塩酸塩3.1g(28mmol)、水酸化ナトリウム2.2g(55mmol)、メタノール120mLを、還流管を付けた三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換し、8.5時間還流させた。その後、フラスコの温度が室温に戻るまで攪拌した。この混合物に12M濃塩酸3mL、炭酸水素カリウム2.3g、水58mLを加え、ろ過した。
次に、上記ステップ1で得た5,6−ビス(4−メチルフェニル)ピラジン−2−オール4.8g(17mmol)、ジクロロメタン174mL、トリエチルアミン4.9mLを三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換し、0℃でトリフルオロメタンスルホン酸無水物4.3mLを滴下し、0℃で1時間30分攪拌し、室温で2時間攪拌した。
本実施例では、本発明の一態様である合成方法を適用した有機金属錯体、ビス{4,6−ジメチル−2−[5−(2,6−ジメチルフェニル)−3−(3,5−ジメチルフェニル)−2−ピラジニル−κN]フェニル−κC}(2,4−ペンタンジオナト−κ2O,O’)イリジウム(III)(略称:[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2(acac)])(構造式(301))の合成方法について説明する。なお、[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2(acac)]の構造を以下に示す。
上述の実施例1に記載の、合成例1ステップ4で得られた[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2Cl]28.77g(4.3mmol)、2,4−ペンタンジオン(略称:Hacac)1.30g(13.0mmol)、炭酸ナトリウム4.60g(43mmol)、2−エトキシエタノール44mLを、丸底フラスコに入れ、約15分間アルゴンをバブリングさせてフラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz、400W)を1時間照射し、反応させた。得られた混合物を室温まで冷却し、析出した固体をろ別した。得られた固体を水、エタノールで洗浄し、赤色の固体を得た。この固体を減圧下、100℃に加熱して乾燥させた。
ガラス基板上に形成された酸化珪素を含むインジウム錫酸化物(ITSO、膜厚110nm、面積2mm×2mm)を第1の電極101とし、この上に1,3,5−トリ(ジベンゾチオフェン−4−イル)ベンゼン(DBT3P−II)と酸化モリブデンを重量比(DBT3P−II:MoO3)が2:1、膜厚が20nmになるように共蒸着して正孔注入層111を形成した。
[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2(acac)]をハロゲン含有中間体を経由して合成されたものを用いた点、PCBBiFの代わりに4,4’−ジ(1−ナフチル)−4’’−(9−フェニル−9H−カルバゾール−3−イル)トリフェニルアミン(PCBNBB)を用いた点、及びBPhenの層の膜厚を20nmにした点以外は、素子1と同様に作成した。素子1と比較素子1の構造を表1に示す。なお、素子1と比較素子1の構造を比較すると、発光層113中の第2ホスト材料、及びBPhenの層の膜厚が異なるが、この程度の差異は素子の信頼性に影響を与えないことを発明者は既に明らかにしている。
素子1と比較素子1の輝度−電流効率特性、電圧−輝度特性、輝度−外部量子効率特性、及び発光スペクトルを図18乃至21に示す。図21に示すように、いずれの素子からもほぼ同じ発光スペクトルが得られ、[Ir(dmdppr−dmp)2(acac)]が発光していることが確認された。また、図20に示すように、電圧−輝度特性はほぼ同じである。図18、19で示すように、比較素子1は素子1と比較してやや高い効率を示しているが、それほど顕著な差は見られなかった。

Claims (3)
- 式(G0)で表される構造を有する5,6−ジアリール−2−ピラジルトリフラート。
(式(G0)中、R1〜R8は、それぞれ水素、炭素数1〜6のアルキル基、フェニル基、炭素数1〜6のアルキル基を置換基として有するフェニル基のいずれかを表す。) - 式(G0)で表される構造を有する5,6−ジアリール−2−ピラジルトリフラートと、アリールボロン酸とをカップリングさせ、2,3,5−トリアリールピラジン誘導体を合成することを特徴とするトリアリールピラジン誘導体の合成方法。
(式(G0)中、R1〜R8は、それぞれ水素、炭素数1〜6のアルキル基、フェニル基、炭素数1〜6のアルキル基を置換基として有するフェニル基のいずれかを表す。) - 式(G0)で表される構造を有する5,6−ジアリール−2−ピラジルトリフラートと、アリールボロン酸とをカップリングさせ、2,3,5−トリアリールピラジン誘導体を合成し、2,3,5−トリアリールピラジン誘導体とハロゲンを含む金属化合物とを反応させ、得られた複核錯体と配位子とを反応させることを特徴とする有機金属錯体の合成方法。
(式(G0)中、R1〜R8は、それぞれ水素、炭素数1〜6のアルキル基、フェニル基、炭素数1〜6のアルキル基を置換基として有するフェニル基のいずれかを表す。)
