Description

荷物を有人集配拠点に配達するシステムの各種の実施形態は、何れの適当なロジスティクスサービスに関して実現されてもよい。例えば、特定の実施形態は、ショージア(GA)州アトランタ(Atlanta)のユナイテッド・パーセル・サービス社(United Parcel Service,Inc.)により提供される何れの適当なロジスティクスサービスに関連して実現されてもよい。システムの機能の様々な態様は、荷物配達モジュール300を含む特定のシステムモジュールにより実行されてもよい。このモジュールについて、以下により詳しく説明する。
図3は、例示的な荷物配達モジュール300により実行される動作のフローチャートである。特定の実施形態において、荷物配達モジュール300は、ある有人集配拠点への荷物の配達を容易にすることができる。
各種の実施形態において、有人集配拠点は実店舗、例えば百貨店内に提供されて、その店舗への十分な在庫の提供を容易にするために使用されてもよい。有人集配拠点には、第三者(例えば、実店舗以外の実体)または実店舗自体の人員が配置されてもよい。

特定の実施形態において、システムは、利用者が、小売ウェブサイトで注文した商品の特定の有人集配拠点への配達を容易にすることができるように構成されてもよい。特定の実施形態において、システムはまず、利用者に対し、特定のロジスティクス業者に関連するアドレスと、その利用者に関連するコード(例えば、固有のコード)を提供する。利用者が小売ウェブサイト上での商品の注文を完了したら、利用者はロジスティクス業者が指定したアドレスを小売ウェブサイト上の配達先住所のフィールドにその利用者に関連するコードと共に入力する。

特定の実施形態において、有人集配拠点の担当者は、その有人集配拠点において、荷物および/または商品について1つまたは複数の付加価値サービスを提供してもよい。例えば、1つまたは複数の付加価値サービスは、商品および/または荷物が返品されて返金が求められる時、または単純に他の場所に発送される場合に提供される。例えば、担当者は、(1)その商品を発送するために梱包し、(2)商品をギフト用に包装し、(3)返金または交換のために商品を小売店に返品するのを容易にし(以下参照)、および/または(4)その他の何れかの付加価値サービスを完了させる。
有人集配拠点の別の用途には、ショッピングセンター(例えば、モール)内に1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点を提供することが含まれる。特定の実施形態において、有人集配拠点は、(1)そのショッピングセンターで購入した商品を利用者から受け取り、(2)その商品を利用者の指定する場所(例えば、利用者の住居または会社の住所、利用者の住居または会社の住所に近いある有人集配拠点、および/または利用者の指定するその他の住所)に発送するように構成される。これによって、利用者は、ショッピングセンターで商品を購入し、その後、購入した商品の利用者の家またはその他の場所への配送を容易にし、ショッピンクセンターから商品を持って出て、商品を運ぶ等の煩わしさを回避できる。
特定の実施形態において、コンピュータシステムは、荷物を受け取り、保管する有人集配拠点の現在および/または将来の能力を推定するように使用されてもよい。このことは、例えば、何れの荷物も特定の平均的大きさであり、荷物の受取人により引き取られるまでの特定の期間にわたり、その有人集配拠点によって保管されることを前提とする特定のアルゴリズムを使って実施される。
各種の実施形態において、システムは、特定の荷物の配達のための特定の有人集配拠点を推奨するように構成されてもよい。特定の実施形態において、システムは、少なくとも部分的に、(1)利用者により指定された場所からその有人集配拠点までの距離、(2)配達を受け入れる現在または今後の有人集配拠点の能力の推測、(3)特定の有人集配拠点に関連する活動の傾向(例えば、有人集配拠点において、日々の体積の増加率が特定の閾値を超えた場合、システムは、所定の日数にわたってその有人集配拠点を推奨しない)、または(4)他の何れかの適当な要素に基づいて、適当な推奨を自動的に生成するように構成されてもよい。システムが1つまたは複数の特定の集配拠点推奨した後、利用者は、配達の受取に推奨された有人集配拠点のうちの1つを選択するか、または配達の受取に、推奨されていない有人集配拠点を指定してもよい。
いくつかの場合に、ロジスティクスシステムまたはその他のシステムは、特定の荷物が、その荷物を受け入れるのに十分な能力を有さない特定の有人集配拠点に運ばれている途中であることを判断してもよい。このような場合、システムは、例えば、(1)特定の有人集配拠点への荷物の配達を中断して、その荷物を代替有人集配拠点に届け先変更し、意図された荷物受取人にその変更を知らせ、(2)所定の期間にわたり荷物を保管し、後にその荷物を特定の有人集配拠点に配達し、意図された受取人にスケジュール変更を知らせ、(3)荷物を受取人の家または勤務地に配達し、または(4)その状況を他の何れかの適当な方法で取り扱ってもよい。システムは、上記の方法の何れをとるかを、少なくとも部分的に、例えば1つまたは複数の利用者ごとの選好に基づいて決定してもよい。
様々な状況、例えばすぐ上で説明したような状況において、システムは、荷物を代替有人集配拠点へと届け先を変更する。このような状況において、代替有人集配拠点は、例えば、(1)代替有人集配拠点の当初の標的有人集配拠点からの距離、(2)代替有人集配拠点の顧客の住居または勤務地からの距離、(3)その顧客が前回使用した有人集配拠点、または(4)その荷物の意図された受取人により表明された以前の選好に基づいて特定されてもよい。
特定の実施形態において、システムは、利用者が特定の有人集配拠点において特定の荷物のためのスペースを予約でき、それによって特定の有人集配拠点(代替拠点ではない)への配達が保証されるように構成されてもよい。システムは、かかる予約を行うために荷物の受取人に料金を課しても課さなくてもよい。特定の実施形態において、システムは、有料のプレミアムロジスティクスサービスに申し込んでいる人々に対して、このような予約を無料で提供する。
有人集配拠点は、いくつかの実施形態において、過去に購入した商品を小売店に返品して返金または交換を受けることを容易にするように構成されてもよい。例えば、特定の実施形態において、有人集配拠点の担当者(および/またはその有人集配拠点に関連するコンピュータシステム)は、特定の商品が返品/交換可能であるか否かを判断し、(1)その商品が返品/交換できない場合は、その商品を返品しようとしている個人に、その商品は返品/交換できないことを知らせ、または(2)商品が返品/交換可能であれば、その商品の返品先の小売店が指定する条件に従って、その商品の返品/交換を容易にする。特定の実施形態において、システムは、(1)返品される商品に関連する機械読取可能標識(例えば、UPCコード、商品を交換しようとしている個人へのその商品の販売に関する取引コード、または他の適当な商品識別子)を読み取り、(2)機械読取可能標識から得られた情報を使って、その商品が返品/交換可能であるか否かを判断するように構成される。特定の実施形態において、得られた情報は、商品の返品/交換期限を含んでいてもよい。ある物品がその時点では返品または交換できる場合、システムは、任意選択により、利用者が特定の代金返金または代替品の何れかをいつ受け取れるかを判断し、この情報を利用者に提供してもよい。
有人集配拠点からの荷物またはその他の物品の引取を容易にするために各種の技術が使用されてもよい。例えば、利用者には、個人およびその個人によって特定の有人集配拠点において引き取られるべき荷物を早く特定するために使用できる電子IDカードまたはその他のデバイスが提供される。同様に、利用者には、近距離無線通信を介して利用者を特定しやすくする利用者のモバイルコンピューティングデバイス上のアプリケーション、またはモバイルデバイスのスクリーン上に表示される1つまたは複数バーコードが提供されてもよい。このようなバーコードは、あるいは、印刷され(例えば、伝票等)、有人集配拠点の担当者に提示されて、有人集配拠点に保管されている1つまたは複数の荷物の迅速な特定と引取を容易にできる。
図4は、例示的な物品引き取りモジュール400によって実行される動作のフローチャートである。特定の実施形態において、物品引き取りモジュール400は、有人集配拠点からの荷物の引き取りを容易にしてもよい。物品引き取りモジュール400を実行する際、システムはまず、ステップ410で、利用者から、1つまたは複数の荷物を有人集配拠点から引き取るための要求を受け取る。各種の実施形態において、システムは、1つまたは複数の荷物の意図された受取人から要求を受け取るように構成される。他の実施形態において、システムは、意図された受取人以外の個人(例えば、意図された受取人の代わりに荷物を引き取る個人、例えば意図された受取人の妻、夫、ルームメイト、友人、同僚、息子、娘、兄弟、姉妹等)から要求を受けるように構成される。特定の実施形態において、システムは、例えば意図された受取人の代わりに要求を行う有人集配拠点の担当者(例えば、従業員)または、荷物を引き取りにその有人集配拠点に出向いた他人から要求を受け取るように構成される。
特定の実施形態において、有人集配拠点は、eコマースウェブサイト上で売れ筋の1種または複数の商品(例えば、ベストセラーの書籍、DVD、またはCD)を保有しておいてもよい。特定の実施形態において、eコマースウェブサイトの利用者が、このような商品を購入したいとのその意思を表示した場合、システムは、その利用者に地理的に近い(利用者の携帯機器によって、利用者が提供する情報から、またはその他によって判断される)1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点の在庫を検索し、その有人集配拠点にその商品の在庫があるか否かを判断してもよい。在庫があれば、システムは利用者に対し、近所の有人集配拠点にその商品の在庫があることを知らせ、商品の代金をオンラインで支払い、その後、その商品を(例えば、実質的に即日に)その近所の有人集配拠点から引き取る選択肢をその利用者に提供してもよい。
特定の実施形態において、各有人集配拠点にクライアントコンピュータを提供してもよく、クライアントコンピュータは、(クライアントコンピュータが荷物の集荷、配達、およびまたは追跡を容易にするように構成される)アクティブモードと、(クライアントコンピュータがシステムの使い方を個人に訓練するように構成される)訓練モードとの間で切り替えられてもよい。特定の実施形態において、クライアントコンピュータが訓練モードにある時、コンピュータは、コンピュータがアクティブモードにある時のコンピュータの動作をシミュレートして、コンピュータを適正に動作させる方法の説明を提供する。
特定の実施形態において、利用者が荷物を特定の有人集配拠点で引き取る際に、利用者に対し、その有人集配拠点での本人の経験に関する電子調査が提示される。利用者がその経験に高い評点を付けた場合(例えば、おそらく10のうち9〜10)、システムは利用者をフェイスブック(Facebook)等のソーシャルメディアに誘導し、そのコメントおよび/またはその他のフィードバックを提供するように促す。このことは、ソーシャルメディアウェブサイト上での肯定的なコメントの数を増やすのに役立つ。
各種の実施形態において、システムは、各有人集配拠点に合わせてカスタム化されたウェブサイトを提供するように構成されている。ウェブサイトは、その特定の有人集配拠点に関連付けられた個人だけがアクセスできる非公開部分を含んでいてもよい。この非公開部分は、例えば有人集配拠点が集配活動を通じてどれだけ利益を上げるかに関する情報、およびその他の関連情報を表示してもよい。
特定の実施形態において、システムは、システムの利用者が、特定の有人集配拠点に関連する各種の属性を定義し、変更できるように構成されている。利用者が定義できる特定の属性には、例えばその有人集配拠点の営業時間が含まれる。例えば、利用者は、少なくとも部分的に、その有人集配拠点のある小売店の営業時間に基づいて営業時間を定義してもよい。各種の実施形態において、利用者は、他の何れかの適当な要素に基づいて営業時間を定義してもよく、また何れかの適当な理由により(例えば、少なくとも部分的に、スタッフがその有人集配拠点にいられるか否か、に基づき、もしくはそれによって、少なくとも部分的に、休日、または休日予定に基づいて、等)営業時間を変更してもよい。
特定の実施形態において、システムは、利用者が1つまたは複数の物品をある有人集配拠点に実質的に自律的に配達するように要求できるように構成される。特定の例として、利用者は、1つまたは複数の物品をオンライン小売店に注文し、特定の有人集配拠点に配達されるようにしてもよい。各種の実施形態において、システムは、利用者がその物品に関するオンライン小売店との取引をゲストとして(例えば、その利用者またはそのオンライン小売店に関連するアカウントにログインせずに)完了させることができるようにしてもよい。利用者はすると、取引の一部として、その1つまたは複数の物品を有人集配拠点に配達するように要求してもよい。特定の実施形態において、システムは、利用者の氏名またはその他の個人を識別する特徴を1つまたは複数の物品に関連付けずに、その1つまたは複数の物品のその有人集配拠点への配達を容易にするように構成されてもよい。
各種の実施形態において、システムは、特定の場所が有人集配拠点の場所として機能する適性を判断するように構成される。特定の実施形態において、この判断は、例えば(1)(例えば、特定の場所が小売店である場合)その特定の場所において返品が行われる数、(2)その場所に関する苦情の数(例えば、その場所の会社の顧客からの苦情)、(3)その特定の場所に関連する地理的および人口データ、(4)第三者からの商業的に利用可能なデータ(例えば、その特定の場所に関連する会社の売上高、その特定の場所に関連する会社をひいきにする平均的な顧客数)、および(5)他の何れかの適当な要素に基づく。
各種の実施形態において、システムは、利用者が1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点を素早く営業中の状態および/または休業の状態にし、および/または1つまたは複数の時限的有人集配拠点(例えば、所定の時間だけ存在するように設定された代替配達場所)を設置するように構成されている。特定の実施形態において、システムは、利用者が特定の有人集配拠点を、(1)有人集配拠点を指定すること、(2)その有人集配拠点の存在開始時間を指定すること、および(3)その有人集配拠点の存在終了時間を指定することによって設置できるように構成されてもよい。各種の実施形態において、開始時間は、特定のイベント(例えば、特定のコンサート、パーティ、スポーツイベント、またはその他のイベント)が開始する頃となるように選択され、終了時間は、その特定のイベントが終了する頃となるように選択される。特定の実施形態において、イベントには、特定のイベントに関連する1人または複数の個人が配置されてもよい。
各種の実施形態において、システムは、特定の場所からの定期的な(例えば、毎日、毎週等)集荷を調整するように構成されている。このような集荷は、有人集配拠点を営業範囲とする1つまたは複数のロジスティクス業者により行われてもよい。このサービスは有料でも無料でも実施されてよい。
各種の実施形態において、システムは、特定の個人が荷物の送料のうちで支払う金額を、その時の状況に合わせてカスタム化された方法で計算するように構成される。例えば、特定のオンライン小売店から個人への荷物の発送に関連する送料は、少なくとも部分的に、(1)荷物が配達される予定の有人集配拠点の現在の利用可能性および/または能力、(2)個人の購入および/または出荷活動の頻度(例えば、頻繁に購入および/または出荷する場合は割引を受けられる)、(3)配達を取り扱う運送業者、(4)特定の有人集配拠点への忠誠度、(5)配達を取り扱う運送業者への忠誠度、および/または(6)その個人の代わりにその有人集配拠点に出荷される全体的頻度に基づく。特定の実施形態において、システムは、何れかの特定の当事者(例えば、ある有人集配拠点の所有者)または適当な当事者の組み合わせによって、何れかの適当な要素、例えば上記要素の組み合わせに基づいてカスタム化された送料を計算するようにカスタム化可能であってもよい。
特定の実施形態において、システムは、様々な異なる種類の場所間での1つまたは複数の荷物の配達を容易にするように構成されてもよい。例えば、システムは、(1)有人集配拠点から個人の家への、(2)有人集配拠点から他の有人集配拠点への、(3)個人の家から有人集配拠点への、および(4)第一の個人の家から第二の個人の家への1つまたは複数の荷物の配達を容易にするように構成される。
図5は、荷物500を有人集配拠点512、514、516に直接配達することを概略的に示す例示的な運送図を示す。図4に示すように、荷物の受取人は、荷物を、荷物の受取人により密接に関連する他の場所(例えば、荷物の受取人の家または職場)ではなく、有人集配拠点512、514、516に直接配達してもらうことを選択してもよい。各種の実施形態において、有人集配拠点への荷物の配達を調整するシステムは、有人集配拠点から荷物を受け取る各受取人に、荷物受取人が、自分が受け取る荷物を配達してもらう先とする1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点をその中から選択できる有人集配拠点の選択肢を提供してもよい。例えば、システムは、利用者に対し、複数の有人集配拠点(例えば、配達場所512、514、516)を提示する。これらの有人集配拠点は、その荷物の受取人の家、その荷物の受取人の職場、またはその荷物の受取人に密接に関連するその他の場所の近く(例えば、特定の距離内)にある有人集配拠点を含んでいてもよい。
本発明が関係する分野の当業者は、上記の説明と添付の図面に示される教示の恩恵により本発明の多くの変更およびその他の実施形態を着想するであろう。上述の例は、有人集配拠点(例えば、有人の小売集配拠点)に関連する本発明の用途に関しているが、本発明は、他の適当な条件、例えば(1)無人集配拠点、(2)有人の配達専用拠点、(3)有人の集荷専用拠点、(4)無人の配達専用拠点、および(5)無人の集荷/引取専用拠点の条件でも使用されてよい。したがって、本発明は開示されている具体的な実施形態に限定されず、変更やその他の実施形態も付属の特許請求の範囲内に含められるものとする。ここでは特定の用語が使用されているが、これらは包括的、説明的な意味で使用されているにすぎず、限定を目的としていない。
Claims (5)
- 荷物を有人集配拠点に配達し、且つ該荷物を、確認された1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人に引き渡すための方法であって、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点の選択肢を、荷物の意図された受取人である第一の利用者に提供することであって、前記1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点が、複数の受取人により引き取られるように荷物を保管するのに適当な1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点を含む、前記提供すること、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記第一の利用者から、1つまたは複数の荷物を前記1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点のうちの特定の1つの有人集配拠点に配達することの要求を受け取ることであって、前記1つまたは複数の荷物は、1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人を有する、前記要求を受け取ること、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、一般運送業者による当初の場所から前記1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点のうちの前記特定の1つの有人集配拠点へ前記1つまたは複数の荷物を仕向けること、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点のうちの前記特定の1つの有人集配拠点における前記1つまたは複数の荷物の完了した配達を示す信号を受け取ること、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人が前記1つまたは複数の荷物を前記1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点のうちの前記特定の1つの有人集配拠点から引き取ろうとしていることを示す信号を受け取ること、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人の身分を確認すること、
少なくとも部分的に、前記確認に応答して、少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記1つまたは複数の荷物の確認された前記1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人への引き渡しを可能にすることを備え、
前記1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人は、前記第一の利用者以外の個人を含み、
前記少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人の身分を確認することは、
身分証明の入力として、システムが以前に前記第一の利用者に提供し、前記第一の利用者から転送された、前記第一の利用者を識別可能な電子的識別情報を、前記第一の利用者以外の個人から受け取ることを含む、方法。 - 前記身分証明の入力は、
(a)前記第一の利用者を識別可能な機械読取可能証印の画像と、
(b)前記第一の利用者を識別可能な電子IDと、からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記方法は、
少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記第一の利用者を識別可能な電子IDカードを前記第一の利用者以外の個人に仕向けることを備え、
前記身分証明の入力は、前記電子IDカードにより実行される、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記第一の利用者以外の個人から前記身分証明の入力を受け取ることは、
前記1つまたは複数の有人集配拠点のうちの前記特定の1つの有人集配拠点に関連する担当者から前記身分証明の入力を受け取ることを含み、
前記1つまたは複数の荷物の確認された前記1人または複数の意図された荷物受取人への引き渡しを可能にすることは、
前記1つまたは複数の荷物を引き渡すことの1つまたは複数の指示を前記担当者に提供することを含む、請求項3に記載の方法。 - 少なくとも1つのプロセッサが、前記第一の利用者以外の個人が前記電子IDカードを前記第一の利用者以外の個人に関連するコンピューティングデバイス上で表示することができるようにすることをさらに備える、請求項3に記載の方法。
