Claims (15)
- 流体噴射において使用される方法において、
プリントヘッドを介し流路の第1端部に流体接続する第1流体容器内の流体レベル、および前記プリントヘッドを介し前記流路の第2端部に流体接続する第2流体容器内の流体レベルを検知するステップ、
前記第1流体容器と前記第2流体容器との間の流れ方向が、低流体レベルを有する流体容器から高流体レベルを有する流体容器へのものかどうか、および、前記低流体レベルを有する流体容器中における流体レベルが閾値より下かどうかを決定するステップ、
前記流れ方向が、低流体レベルを有する流体容器から高流体レベルを有する流体容器へのものであり、かつ、前記低流体レベルを有する流体容器中における流体レベルが閾値より下であることを決定した場合、前記流れ方向が、高流体レベルを有する流体容器から低流体レベルを有する流体容器へとなるように、前記第1流体容器と前記第2流体容器との間の流れ方向を逆にするステップ、
前記流体レベルが低いことを示すために信号をユーザに提供するステップ、および、
前記第1流体容器と前記第2流体容器とを含むカートリッジを廃棄するよう前記ユーザに促す、あるいは、前記第1流体容器および/または前記第2流体容器を補充するよう前記ユーザを促すステップ、
を含み、
前記第1流体容器と前記第2流体容器の各々が、流体リフィルポートを有し、
前記第1流体容器および/または前記第2流体容器の補充が、前記流体リフィルポートを介して補充されることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記流れ方向を逆にするステップが、前記第1流体容器と前記第2流体容器との間の圧力差を逆にするよう、圧力制御装置に指示するステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記第1流体容器が第1制御内部圧力を有し、前記第2流体容器が第2制御内部圧力を有し、前記圧力制御装置が、前記第1制御内部圧力および前記第2制御内部圧力の両方を、大気圧より低い圧力に維持することを特徴とする請求項2記載の方法。
- 前記第1制御内部圧力と前記第2制御内部圧力との圧力差が、大気圧と前記第1制御内部圧力または前記第2制御内部圧力との圧力差より大きいことを特徴とする請求項3記載の方法。
- 前記プリントヘッドが前記流路と連通するノズルをさらに有し、該流路に沿って流れる流体は、該ノズルが吐出している際に、該ノズルに送出されることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記プリントヘッドが前記流路と連通するノズルをさらに有し、前記圧力制御装置が、該ノズルにおいて、流体メニスカスに対し負圧を維持することを特徴とする請求項2記載の方法。
- 前記第1流体容器と前記第2流体容器の両方の流体レベルが、前記閾値より低い場合、吐出を中止するよう前記プリントヘッドに指示するステップをさらに有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 流体噴射において使用される方法において、
流体を、プリントヘッド内の流路を介して、第1容器と第2容器との間を再循環させるステップであって、前記流路はノズルを含み、該ノズルを介して前記第1容器と前記第2容器内とのいずれか1方から吐出する流体が吐出用の流体を供給し、前記ノズルが前記第1容器と前記第2容器内との間に位置し、アセンブリが前記プリントヘッドと、前記第1容器と前記第2容器とを含む自給式カートリッジとを含む、ステップを含み、
前記ノズルを介して吐出された流体の量に対する再循環流体流量の比率が、前記プリントヘッドの印刷動作の負荷サイクルに依存し、前記再循環流体流量が、1秒間に前記流路の断面を通過する再循環流体の量であることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記比率は、前記印刷動作が第2の負荷サイクルよりも高い第1の負荷サイクルで行われる際に減少することを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記プリントヘッドが複数のノズルを含み、前記比率が単位時間当たり吐出しているノズルの割合に依存することを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記流体流の再循環が、ノズルにおける、あるいは前記プリントヘッド内の前記流路に沿って、前記流体が乾燥する可能性を下げることを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記流体がテスト流体を含み、
前記アセンブリを、前記テスト流体を前記ノズルから吐出することを含むテスト動作の後に、廃棄することを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。 - 前記第1容器と前記第2容器との間を再循環させるステップが、流体中の粒子を浮遊状態に保ち、該流体の質を維持することを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記流体を前記第1容器と前記第2容器との間を再循環させることにより、前記流路に沿って気泡を取り除くステップをさらに有することを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記流体を前記第1容器と前記第2容器との間を再循環させる間に、前記ノズルから流体を吐出するステップをさらに有することを特徴とする請求項8記載の方法。
