Description
次に記録再生方法を述べる。
磁気ヘッドは主にスライダーとそれに組み込まれた素子部からなっている。ヘッドサイズは小型化しており、スライダーも長さ1.2mm程度のピコスライダーやそれより小型のフェムトスライダーなどが用いることができる。HDDの記録再生方式は誘導型素子で書き込み、磁気抵抗型素子で読み出す方法等を用いることができ、磁気ヘッドの素子部は、ライト(書き込み)素子とリード(読み出し)素子とを有していても良い。リード素子としてはGMR(Giant Magneto−Resistive effect)素子やTMR(Tunnel Magneto−Resistive effect)素子などを用いることができる。これらの素子はスライダー内に形成されたり、取り付けられたりする。
以下、実施例により本発明をさらに具体的に説明する。
95mmの外径、25mmの内径、および1.27mmの厚さを有する円環状のアルミニウム製ディスクの表面に、12μmの膜厚を有するNi−Pメッキを施し、非磁性基体を調製した。得られた非磁性基体に対して、平滑化加工および洗浄を施した。
本実施例においては、前記磁気ヘッドの素子部が潤滑膜に潜る深さを0.3nm、0.7nm、1.1nm、1.6nmとして電磁変換特性(SNR)の評価を行なった。SNRは、記録用の単磁極ヘッドおよび再生用のGMR型ヘッドを有する複合型ヘッドを取り付けたスピンスタンド型テスターを用い、500Gb/in2の記録密度に相当する測定条件で測定した。得られた信号出力およびノイズ出力から、以下の式を用いて、SNR値を求めた。
SNR(dB)=20×log[(信号出力)/(ノイズ出力)]
ここで、上式中、「log」は常用対数を示す。
実施例1の方法で作製した潤滑膜の膜厚が0.7、1.1、1.5、1.8nmである場合の磁気記録媒体について、電磁変換特性(SNR)およびHDI信頼性(磁気ヘッドの素子部の摩耗量)を実施例1の方法で評価した。その際、磁気ヘッドの素子部が潤滑膜に潜る深さは、−0.5nm、0nmとして評価した。なお、−0.5nmとは潤滑膜表面から磁気ヘッドの素子部が0.5nm浮上していることを示す。

Claims (5)
- 基体と、
前記基体上に形成された金属膜と、
前記金属膜上に形成された保護膜と、
前記保護膜上に形成された潤滑膜と
を有する磁気記録媒体と磁気ヘッドとからなる磁気記録再生装置において、
前記磁気ヘッドがAE素子を有し、
記録再生の際に、前記磁気ヘッドの素子部が前記潤滑膜の中に位置するように、前記AE素子から得られるAE信号に基づいて、前記磁気ヘッドの前記素子部が前記潤滑膜の中に潜る深さを制御することを特徴とする記録再生方法。 - 前記AE素子から得られる前記AE信号により、前記磁気ヘッドの前記素子部が前記潤滑膜の表面に接しているか、前記潤滑膜の中に位置するか、前記保護膜の表面に接しているかを検知し、前記磁気ヘッドの前記素子部が前記潤滑膜の中に位置している場合の前記素子部の前記潤滑膜の表面からの距離を得ることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の記録再生方法。
- 前記潤滑膜の膜厚が0.7nm以上1.8nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の記録再生方法。
- 前記磁気ヘッドの前記素子部が前記潤滑膜の中に位置している場合の前記素子部と前記保護膜表面との距離が0.4nm以上、0.8nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の記録再生方法。
- 前記磁気ヘッドが前記磁気ヘッドの前記素子部を突き出す機能を有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の記録再生方法。
