Description
前記水溶液が、6以下のpHを有し、かつ前記クレイ小板の前記基底表面が、表面改質化合物で改質される、工程と、
b)工程a)の前記液体中で前記モノマー及び/又はオリゴマーの重合を開始する工程と、を含む重合反応により得られる吸水性の表面改質されたクレイ結合ポリカルボン酸及び/又はポリカルボン酸塩ポリマーが提供される。
a)i)均一に分散した、対向する基底小板表面及び小板エッジを有するクレイ小板と、ii)溶解又は均一に分散した、カルボン酸基及び/若しくはカルボキシレート基を含む重合性モノマー、並びに/又は1つ以上の前記モノマーの重合性オリゴマーと、を含む重合反応水溶液を得る工程と、
前記水溶液が、6以下のpHを有し、かつ前記クレイ小板の前記基底表面が、表面改質化合物で改質される、工程と、
b)重合開始剤系を得る工程と、
c)前記a)の液体と前記b)の重合開始剤系とを組み合わせて、前記モノマー及び/又はオリゴマーを重合させる工程と、を含む。
これは、モノマー溶液又はオリゴマー溶液/分散液が、部分的に又は完全に中和されるとき、例えば、上記され、かつ以下に記載されるように、カルボン酸塩形態を含むために特に有用であり得る。有用な分散補助剤は、例えば、単糖類及びオリゴ糖又は多糖類を含み、これには、例えば、カルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)が含まれる。
本発明は、酸性水溶液中に小板として分散され得るクレイの使用を必要とする。クレイ小板は、本明細書では「表面」とも呼ばれる、対向する基底小板表面、及び本明細書では「エッジ」と呼ばれる小板エッジ表面(それらがほぼ二次元であるため)を有し、前記小板の基底表面は、本明細書に記載されるように、改質される本発明のためのものである。
重合液中の表面改質されたクレイは、好ましくは、均一に分散され、(例えば、重合の直前、例えば、重合の温度/圧力条件で)例えば、クレイ小板の著しい凝集/軟凝集が存在しないようにする。
最終SMCポリマーでは、典型的に、クレイ小板は、例えば、上述の寸法及びアスペクト比が、例えば、均一である(又はその少なくとも90重量%若しくは少なくとも95重量%)個別の改質された小板として提示され、前記SMCポリマーゲルのマイクロスライスの除去により(超ミクロトームにより)決定され得、これを当該技術分野において既知の低温TEM法に提出する。
重合液中のクレイは、改質された基底表面又は以下に称されるような「表面」を有する。本明細書に記載の方法では、これは、モノマーの添加前、又はモノマーの添加と同時に行われてよい。幾つかの実施形態では、表面改質は、モノマーの添加前に行われる(例えば、酸性水溶液を製造する前)。表面改質されたクレイを得るため、クレイは、例えば、改質化合物を含む液体中に分散され、及び/又はクレイは、液体中に分散され、改質化合物は、次いで分散液に添加され、所望により溶液若しくは分散液としても添加され得る。
クレイの剥離はまた、高せん断ミキサ(例えば、CBレーディゲミキサ、Schugiミキサ、Littlefordミキサ、Draisミキサ)の使用により影響を受け得る。
任意のミキサの先端速度は、例えば、少なくとも20ms−1、又は少なくとも30ms−1〜例えば45、40、又は35ms−1.であってよい。

6以下のpHを有し、前記重合性モノマー、重合性オリゴマー、及び/又はそれらの混合物を含み、均一に分散された、改質された基底表面(本明細書では、「表面」とも呼ばれる)を持つクレイ小板を有する、前記重合反応水溶液を得る。
本明細書に記載の幾つかの実施形態では、クレイ小板は、更に、いわゆる、エッジ改質化合物によっても改質される小板エッジを有し得る。
i)リン酸化化合物であって、好ましくは、リン酸化塩、縮合リン酸塩、その誘導体及びその酸形態、ホスホン酸、その誘導体及びその塩、並びにそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、リン酸化化合物、
ii)前記式SiRIRIIRIIIRIVのシラン化化合物であって、RI、RII、RIII、RIV部分がそれぞれ、サブグループa)アルキル、アリール、O−アルキル(アルコキシ)、N−アルキル、アルケン、アルケニル、及びb)水素、ハロゲン化物、及びc)ヒドロキシ、カルボキシ含有部分、エポキシ含有部分、イソシアノ含有部分からなる群から選択され、但し、前記部分のうちの少なくとも1つかつ最大3つが、前記サブグループa)から選択され、前記部分のうちの少なくとも1つかつ最大3つが、前記サブグループc)から選択され、前記部分の最大1つが前記サブグループb)から選択されるものとする、シラン化化合物、
iii)フッ素化化合物であって、好ましくは、MF塩であり、Mが、一価カチオンである、フッ素化化合物、からなる群から選択される。
重合水溶液は、重合性モノマー(以下モノマーと呼ばれる)、及び/又は前記モノマーの重合性オリゴマー(例えば、2〜典型的に5000重合されたモノマーを有する前記オリゴマー)を含む。重合性であるために、モノマー、及びしたがってそのオリゴマーは、重合性部分、例えば、C=C部分を含み、モノマーが、単一のC=C部分等の単一重合性部分を有することが好ましい場合がある。
重合液中で重合を開始するために、及び本明細書に記載の吸水性SMCポリマーを得るために、重合開始剤系が、液体に添加されてよい。
本発明はまた、例えば、本明細書に記載される重合水溶液を用いて得られる、又は本明細書において前記液体を使用する方法により得られる、吸水性表面改質されたクレイ結合ポリカルボン酸及び/又はポリカルボキシレートポリマーにも関し、本明細書において吸水性SMCポリマーと呼ばれる。
好ましいトップシート材料は、少なくとも部分的に親水性であり、また、いわゆる有孔トップシートも好ましい。
測定は、特に明記しない限り、周囲温度23±2℃、相対湿度50±10%で行われるべきである。
含水量は、ポリマーを105℃で3時間乾燥し、乾燥後のポリマーの重量減少によって含水量を決定することを伴うEdana試験番号ERT 430.1−99(1999年2月)によって決定することができる。
本明細書で参照される遠心分離保持能は、EDANA(ヨーロッパ使い捨て及び不織布協会(European Disposables and Nonwovens Association))推奨試験方法No.441.2−02「遠心分離保持能」によって測定される。

前記吸収性構造が、吸水性の表面改質されたクレイ結合ポリカルボン酸及び/又はポリカルボキシレートポリマーを含み、
前記吸水性の表面改質されたクレイ結合ポリカルボン酸及び/又はポリカルボキシレートポリマーが、
対向する基底小板表面及び小板エッジを有するクレイ小板と、
前記クレイ小板の基底小板に結合することが可能なカチオン性部分を有する表面改質化合物と、
カルボン酸基及び/若しくはカルボキシレート基を含む重合性モノマー、並びに/又は前記モノマーのうちの1つ以上の重合性オリゴマーと
の重合反応により得られ、
表面改質された前記クレイ小板が800nm未満の重量平均最大粒径および5〜300のアスペクト比を有することを特徴とする、吸収性物品。 - 表面改質された前記クレイ小板が個別の改質された小板として存在する、請求項1に記載の吸収性物品。
