本明細書に定義されるように、「調節する(modulate)」という文言は、植物の生長量を変化させ、好ましくは生長させ、又は植物種子の発芽の量もしくは割合を増加させ、または果実もしくは野菜に存在する土壌病害感染の数もしくは植物における土壌病害感染の拡大速度を変化させ、そして好ましくは減少させることを意味するために使用される。
本開示に説明する方法で使用される組成物は、生化学的な農産物としてアントラキノン誘導体を含み、これは、植物の生長を調節し、そして好ましくは促進及び/又は種子の発芽を調節し、そして好ましくは促進及び/又は土壌植物の病害感染を、調節し、そして好ましくは阻害する際に使用される。特に、上記組成物は、植物抽出物であってもよい。したがって、「含む」という文言はまた、前記アントラキノン誘導体を生じさせる抽出物を包含する。特定の実施形態では、使用される、1又は複数の上記アントラキノン誘導体は、主要な有効成分であるか、または主要な有効成分の1つである。
上記の、抽出物形態であってもよい組成物(REGALIA(登録商標)およびMILSANA(登録商標)という商標名で市販されている製品等)は、単独で使用することもでき、または、合成肥料または有機肥料等(例えば、粒状または液体形態のいずれかのジ−アンモニウムリン酸)、堆肥茶葉、海藻抽出物;植え付けた植物の根生長ホルモン処理で使用される、IAA(インドール酢酸)その他の植物成長ホルモンと組み合わせて使用することもできる。または、IBA(インドール酪酸)及びNAA(ナフタレン酢酸)等の植物成長調整剤、バチルス(Bacillus)属、シュードモナス(Pseudomonas)、リゾビウム(Rhizobia)、トリコデルマ(Trichoderma)等の成長促進用微生物とともに使用することができる。
上記の組成物は、固体/粉末状または液体形態のいずれの抽出物形態であってもよい(REGALIA(登録商標)およびMILSANA(登録商標)という商標名で市販されている製品等)が、種子のコーティング剤と組み合わせて使用することもできる。かかる種子のコーティング剤としては、単一部位(single site)作用機序、多部位(multi site)作用機序又は未知の作用機序のいずれかを有する、エチレングリコール、ポリエチレングリコール、キトサン、カルボキシメチルキトサン、ピートモス、樹脂およびロウ、または化学的殺真菌剤もしくは殺菌剤が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
次に、上記の組成物は抽出物の形態であってもよい(REGALIA(登録商標)およびMILSANA(登録商標)という商標名で市販されている製品等)が、植物抽出物、有機農薬、無機作物保護剤(銅等)、界面活性剤(ラムノリピッド;Gandhiら,2007など)その他の抗植物病原体剤、もしくは、殺虫特性を有するパラフィン油およびナガバクコ油その他の天然油、または単一部位作用機序、多部位作用機序もしくは未知の作用機序のいずれかを有する化学的殺真菌剤もしくは殺菌剤と組み合わせて使用することもできる。本明細書に定義されるように、「抗植物病原体剤」は、植物病原体、特に植物において土壌病害を引き起こす病原菌の増殖を調節するか、又は植物病原体による植物感染を予防する薬剤である。植物病原体は、真菌、細菌、放線菌またはウイルスを含むが、これらには限定されない。
また別の実施形態では、抗植物病原体剤は、ストレプトマイシン、テトラサイクリン、オキシテトラサイクリン、銅、カスガマイシンであることがある。
前記組成物、特に、上記の植物抽出物または上記の化合物は、植物、例えば果実(例えば、苺)、野菜(例えば、トマト、カボチャ、辛子、茄子)、または穀類(例えば、大豆、小麦、稲、トウモロコシ)、木、花、観葉植物、潅木(例えば、綿、薔薇)、球根植物(例えば、タマネギ、ニンニク)またはつる植物(例えば、ブドウのつる)などの作物の成長を調節するか、またはより特別には、促進するため、より一層特別には、前記植物の根の早期の定着を促進するために使用することができる。上記組成物は、1又は複数の植物中の種子(1つまたは複数)の発芽を調節するために使用してもよい。又は、前記組成物は、植物の土壌病害感染量を調節する、特に、前記土壌病害感染を予防もしくは阻害するか、及び/又は前記植物の前記土壌病害感染の拡大速度及び/又は拡大の度合いを低減するために使用してもよい。
または、上記組成物(例えば、植物抽出物)は、細流または他のかんがい系によって施用してもよい。具体的には、上記植物抽出物は、細流かんがい系内へ注入してもよい。特別の実施形態では、上記抽出物は、約11〜約4クオート/エーカー比で施用してもよい。
苺植物16エーカープロットを、0.25%、0.5%および1.0%(v/v)のオオイタドリ抽出物(REGALIA(登録商標)という商標名で市販されている製品等)の溶液単独で、またはストレプトマイセス放線菌(Streptomyces lydicus)(ACTINOVATE(登録商標)(Natural Industries, Inc.)として市販されている製品等)とともに、REGALIA(登録商標)250ガロンの飼い葉おけ中に植物を約3分間ディッピングした。9日後、REGALIA(登録商標)で処理したすべての植物は、非常に健全かつ活発に成長した。これに対し、ACTINOVATE(登録商標)で処理した植え付けの列では、植物が枯死した飛びが見られた。REGALIA(登録商標)処理植物は、ひげ根が増殖していた。これに対して、ACTINOVATE(登録商標)処理植物では、3〜4本の根が成長できた。
オオイタドリの乾燥抽出物を95%エタノール中に5%(w/v)で溶解し、10分間ソニケートした。この溶液を各種の割合で使用して、大豆の種子を被覆した。 種子のコーティング:大豆(グリシンマックス、Glycine max)の種子を0.5%の次亜塩素酸ナトリウム中に3分間浸して種子の表面を殺菌し、滅菌水で3回すすいだ。以下の処理を使用した: 1.コーティングなし
2.コーティング剤(例えば、12g/kg種子のSEPIRET(登録商標)1171-O(Becker Underwood, Inc.))
3.コーティング剤+2mlの95%エタノール
4.コーティング剤+オオイタドリ抽出物 10kg/kg種子
6.コーティング剤+オオイタドリ 0.2g/kg種子
7.コーティング剤+オオイタドリ 0.05g/kg種子
8.コーティング剤+オオイタドリ 0.025g/kg種子
9.コーティング剤+オオイタドリ 0.0125g/kg種子
植物ディップ:根付きの植物/移植品種名 アルビコン(Albion)を試験に使用した。移植前、各処理溶液中に植物を5分間浸した。
1.未処理対照(水);
2.0.50%v/v(1:200)のREGALIA(登録商標)MEを全植物ディップ用として使用した;
3.1.00%v/v(1:100)のREGALIA(登録商標)MEを全植物ディップ用として使用した;
4. 1:200のREGALIA(登録商標)ME+2.5lb/100ガロン(3.0g/L)のAliette WDGを全植物ディップ全体として使用した;製品の表示に従って、植物を15分間浸した;
5.2.5g/100ガルのALIETTE(登録商標)WDG(Bayer CropScience、アルミニウムトリス(O−エチルホスホネートを有効成分として含む);製品表示に従って、植物を15分間浸した。
1つのレプリケート当たり5株の植物とし、各処理は4レプリケートとした。処理は完全乱塊法(randomized complete block design)で配置した。
植物ディップ:本試験は、0日目および14日目に適用される7つの処理から構成され、カリフォルニア州セントラルコースト沿いの土壌病害の制御、苺植物の定着と成長との促進に関する、REGALIA(登録商標)MEの有効性を評価した。試験は米国カリフォルニア州グアダルペで実施した。苺の根付き植物、品種名アルビコン(Albion)を3.33フィート×15フィートの揚床(raised bed)に植え付けた。以下の処理を適用した。
各処理当たり4レプリケートとし、完全乱塊法で配置した。
1.未処理確認用;
2.移植前に、0.25%(v/v)のREGALIA(登録商標)MEを全植物ディップ用として使用した;
3.移植前に、0.5%(v/v)のREGALIA(登録商標)MEを全植物ディップ用として使用した;
5.植え付け直後およびその2週間後に、REGALIA(登録商標)MEを2クオート/エーカーで、細流かんがい(drip irrigation)によって適用した;
6.植え付け直後およびその2週間後に、REGALIA(登録商標)MEを4クオート/エーカーで、細流かんがいによって適用した;
7.植え付け直後およびその2週間後に、ALIETTE WDGを2.5lb/エーカーで、細流かんがいによって適用した。
植物ディップ:試験は米国フロリダ州ドーバーで実施した。根付き苺植物の品種名フェスティバル(Festival)を、二列苗床内で30個の植物体/プロットで、4フィート列間隔及び14インチの植物間隔で植え付けした。本試験は7つの処理からなり、この内訳は、処理2、3、4、および7での0日目における植え付け前の植物ディップ施用、処理5および6での植え付け翌日(1日目)における土壌浸漬(soil drench)施用、及び14日目、27日目および47日目、59日目、並びに78日目における細流注入施用であった。
1.未処理確認用;
2.REGALIA(登録商標)MEを0.25%(v/v)で、植え付け前ディップ;
3.REGALIA(登録商標)MEを0.5%(v/v)で、植え付け前ディップ;
4.REGALIA(登録商標)MEを1.0%(v/v)で、植え付け前ディップ;
5.REGALIA(登録商標)MEを2.0qt/aで、土壌浸漬(drench)(細流);
6.REGALIA(登録商標)MEを4.0qt/aで、土壌浸漬(細流);
7.ALIETTE(登録商標)ME、2.5lb/エーカー植え付け前ディップ。
表4 各処理の日程による平均植物活力(0−不良、10−優良)(*カラム中、同一文字を付したデータは、LSD p=0.05レベルで有意差なし)。

植物のディップ:プロセストマト植物の品種名 Heinz5003を、植え付け前の各処理において30分間浸した。
1.水対照;
2.0.5%(v/v)のREGALIA(登録商標)ME;
3.1.0%(v/v)のREGALIA(登録商標)ME。
処理は、1処理当たり4レプリケートとし、完全乱塊法で配置した。1レプリケート当たり12植物体とした。

Claims (5)
- 植物の成長を促進する方法であって、
オオイタドリ由来のフィスシオン及び/又はエモジンを含む組成物にて、前記植物の成長を促進するのに有効な量で前記植物の1以上の根を、移植に先立って処理する工程と;前記植物を土壌に移植する工程と;を含み、
前記植物は、果実、野菜、樹木又はつる植物である、方法。 - 前記組成物が、1以上の、前記果の根、前記野菜の根、前記樹木の根または前記つる植物の根に、細流かんがい、根ディップ又は畝間散布を介して施用される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 植物の発根開始および根の伸長を促進する方法であって、
前記植物が土壌中に移植されたときに、根の伸長を促進するのに有効な量で、オオイタドリ由来のフィスシオン及び/又はエモジンを含む組成物により、前記植物の1以上の根を処理する工程と;
前記処理された植物を土壌中に移植する工程と、を備える方法。 - 前記植物は、果実植物、花植物、観葉植物、樹木、潅木、球根植物、野菜、又はつる植物である、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記植物は、苺植物、カボチャ属植物、キュウリ植物、トマト植物、薔薇植物、コショウ植物、茄子植物、ブドウのつる植物、ワタの木、タマネギ、ニンニク、小麦、大豆、トウモロコシおよび稲植物である、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の方法。
