Claims (1)
- 測定軸の方向に沿って周期的に形成された第1主信号パターンと該測定軸の方向における原点位置を定めるための第1原点パターンとを備えるメインスケールと、該メインスケールに対向して該測定軸の方向に相対的に移動可能とされるとともに該第1主信号パターンの該測定軸の方向における相対位置の変化を検知する第1センサ及び前記第1原点パターンの接近状態を検知する第2センサと、を備え、該第2センサからの出力信号に基づき求められる前記原点位置を基準にして前記第1センサの出力に基づいて前記メインスケールの移動量を出力するエンコーダにおいて、
前記第1原点パターンは前記測定軸の方向に沿って周期的に形成されるとともに該測定軸の方向で複数箇所にそれぞれ同一の軸方向幅で設けられ、該複数箇所の第1原点パターンの周期は互いに異なり、そのうちの少なくとも1箇所の第1原点パターンの周期は前記第1主信号パターンの周期よりも狭くされ、且つ、
前記第2センサは、前記複数箇所の第1原点パターンに1対1に対応して、前記測定軸の方向に沿って周期的に形成されるとともに該測定軸の方向で複数箇所にそれぞれ同一の軸方向幅で設けられ、該複数箇所の第2センサのアレイピッチは互いに異なり、そのうちの少なくとも1箇所の第2センサのアレイピッチは前記第1主信号パターンの周期よりも狭くされ、且つ、該第2センサのアレイピッチはそれぞれ前記第1原点パターンの周期と同じとされ、
該複数の第2センサからの出力信号を互いに加算して加算信号を求める加算演算部と、
該加算信号を1回以上自乗して自乗信号を求める自乗演算部と、
該自乗信号の信号レベルに応じて前記原点位置を決定する原点信号を出力する判定部と、
前記メインスケールに対向して前記測定軸の方向に相対的に移動可能とされるとともに前記第1主信号パターンと前記第1原点パターンとにそれぞれ対応する第2主信号パターンと第2原点パターンとが備えられたインデックススケールと、を備え、
該第2原点パターンは、前記複数箇所の第1原点パターンに1対1に対応して、前記測定軸の方向に沿って周期的に形成されるとともに該測定軸の方向で複数箇所にそれぞれ同一の軸方向幅で設けられ、該複数箇所の第2原点パターンの周期は互いに異なり、そのうちの少なくとも1箇所の第2原点パターンの周期は前記第1主信号パターンの周期よりも狭くされ、且つ、該第2原点パターンの周期はそれぞれ前記第1原点パターンの周期と同じとされ、
前記第1、第2センサは光電センサとされ、
該第1センサは前記第1主信号パターンを介して前記第2主信号パターンからの光を検知し、前記第2センサは前記第1原点パターンを介して前記第2原点パターンからの光を検知するようにされていることを特徴とするエンコーダ。
