Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の照明装置の一形態について図1、図2、図3、図4、図5、図6、図7、及び図11を用いて説明する。なお、図1、図2、図3、図4、図5、図6、図7、及び図11において、同じ箇所には同じ符号を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である照明装置に用いる有機EL発光を呈する発光素子の素子構造の一例について説明する。有機EL発光を呈する発光素子は、LEDと比較して発熱が小さい。したがって、筐体として有機樹脂を用いることができるため、照明装置として軽量化が可能となり、好ましい。
本実施の形態では、照明装置の応用例を示す。

Claims (8)
- 複数段の発光素子ユニットと、
前記複数段の発光素子ユニットの初段の発光素子ユニットと接する第1の配線と、
前記複数段の発光素子ユニットの最終段の発光素子ユニットと接する第2の配線と、を有し、
前記初段の発光素子ユニットは、並列に接続された第1の発光素子及び第2の発光素子を有し、
前記初段の発光素子ユニットに隣り合う発光素子ユニットは、並列に接続された第3の発光素子及び第4の発光素子を有し、
前記第1の発光素子、前記第2の発光素子、前記第3の発光素子、及び前記第4の発光素子はそれぞれ、第1の電極層と、有機化合物を含む層と、第2の電極層と、を有し、
前記第1の電極層は、遮光性を有し、
前記有機化合物を含む層は、前記第1の電極層と接し、
前記第2の電極層は、前記有機化合物を含む層と接し、透光性を有し、
前記第3の発光素子の前記第1の電極層は、前記有機化合物を含む層と接する第1の領域と、前記第1の領域より線幅が狭く、前記第1の発光素子の前記第1の電極層を囲むように設けられた第2の領域と、を有し、
前記第4の発光素子の前記第1の電極層は、前記有機化合物を含む層と接する第1の領域と、前記第1の領域より線幅が狭く、前記第2の発光素子の前記第1の電極層を囲むように設けられた第2の領域と、を有し、
前記第1の発光素子の前記第2の電極層と、前記第3の発光素子の前記第1の電極層の第2の領域とが接することによって、前記第1の発光素子と前記第3の発光素子は直列に接続し、
前記第2の発光素子の前記第2の電極層と、前記第4の発光素子の前記第1の電極層の前記第2の領域とが接することによって、前記第2の発光素子と前記第4の発光素子は直列に接続し、
前記初段の発光素子ユニットに含まれる発光素子のそれぞれの前記第1の電極層は、前記第1の配線から分岐された領域であり、
前記最終段の発光素子ユニットに含まれる発光素子のそれぞれの前記第2の電極層は、前記第2の配線と接することを特徴とする照明装置。 - 複数段の発光素子ユニットと、
前記複数段の発光素子ユニットの下に平坦化絶縁膜を介して重なって設けられる第1の配線及び第2の配線と、を有し、
前記複数段の発光素子ユニットの初段の発光素子ユニットと前記第1の配線とは前記平坦化絶縁膜に設けられた第1の開口において電気的に接続され、
前記複数段の発光素子ユニットの最終段の発光素子ユニットと前記第2の配線とは前記平坦化絶縁膜に設けられた第2の開口において電気的に接続され、
前記初段の発光素子ユニットは、並列に接続された第1の発光素子及び第2の発光素子を有し、
前記初段の発光素子ユニットに隣り合う発光素子ユニットは、並列に接続された第3の発光素子及び第4の発光素子を有し、
前記第1の発光素子、前記第2の発光素子、前記第3の発光素子、及び前記第4の発光素子はそれぞれ、第1の電極層と、有機化合物を含む層と、第2の電極層と、を有し、
前記第1の電極層は、遮光性を有し、
前記有機化合物を含む層は、前記第1の電極層と接し、
前記第2の電極層は、前記有機化合物を含む層と接し、透光性を有し、
前記第3の発光素子の前記第1の電極層は、前記有機化合物を含む層と接する第1の領域と、前記第1の領域より線幅が狭く、前記第1の発光素子の前記第1の電極層を囲むように設けられた第2の領域と、を有し、
前記第4の発光素子の前記第1の電極層は、前記有機化合物を含む層と接する第1の領域と、前記第1の領域より線幅が狭く、前記第2の発光素子の前記第1の電極層を囲むように設けられた第2の領域と、を有し、
前記第1の発光素子の前記第2の電極層と、前記第3の発光素子の前記第1の電極層の前記第2の領域とが接することによって、前記第1の発光素子と前記第3の発光素子は直列に接続し、
前記第2の発光素子の前記第2の電極層と、前記第4の発光素子の前記第1の電極層の前記第2の領域とが接することによって、前記第2の発光素子と前記第4の発光素子は直列に接続し、
前記初段の発光素子ユニットに含まれる発光素子のそれぞれの前記第1の電極層は、前記第1の配線と接続し、
前記最終段の発光素子ユニットに含まれる発光素子のそれぞれの前記第2の電極層は、前記第2の配線と接続することを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項2において、
前記複数段の発光素子ユニットは絶縁表面を有する基板上に設けられ、
前記絶縁表面を有する基板は、凹部を有し、平面視して前記凹部に前記第1の配線及び前記第2の配線が配置されることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の配線及び前記第2の配線の膜厚は、3μm以上30μm以下であることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の配線、前記第2の配線、及び第1の電極層は、銅を含む導電層を有することを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項において、
前記第1乃至第4の発光素子のそれぞれは、前記第1の電極層上に接し、且つ開口を有する絶縁層を有し、
前記有機化合物を含む層は、前記開口において前記第1の電極層と接することを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光素子、前記第2の発光素子、前記第3の発光素子、及び前記第4の発光素子の発光は、前記第2の電極層を透過して取り出されることを特徴とする照明装置。 - 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項において、
前記有機化合物を含む層は、正孔輸送性の高い有機化合物にアクセプター性物質を含有させた複合材料を含む層を有し、
前記複合材料を含む層は、前記第1の電極層と接することを特徴とする照明装置。
