Description
図1は電池システムの概略構成を示す回路ブロック図である。図1では、電池システム1が充電用電源3及び負荷19と電気的に接続されている状態を図示している。電池システム1は、二次電池セル5とシャント回路7を有する。二次電池セル5は、ケース21内に電極体を収容している。なお、以下では、二次電池セル5を単に「セル5」と略記する。
図3は、図1における電池システム1の一部の構造を概念的に図示したものである。なお、図3において、一部の構成はブロック図で示している。
抵抗体25は、ケース21内の電極体を加熱する目的で利用される。このため、抵抗体25は、電極体の温度を上昇させる程度のジュール熱(数十W〜数百W程度)が発生するように設計される。
電池システム1において、抵抗体25の断面積をセル5の電池容量に対して0.005mm2/Ah以上とするのが好ましい。このようにすることで、電池容量に応じてケース21内の電極体を短時間で加熱することができる。
図4は、ケース21の側面に抵抗体25が形成されている状態を、拡大して模式的に図示したものである。抵抗体25をケース21の面に形成する方法として、抵抗体25とケース21とを一体化する方法がある。図4に示すように、抵抗体25は皮膜26によって覆われている。皮膜26としては、陽極酸化皮膜処理によって形成された酸化皮膜やポリイミドなどの絶縁性材料を用いることができる。
本実施形態では、ケース21の面と抵抗体25との間に熱拡散部材20を備えることができる。この熱拡散部材20が「第1熱拡散部材」に対応する。
上述した構成に加えて、ケース21に放熱機能を備えるのも有用である。何らかの異常により、抵抗体25に電流が流れ続けた場合、ケース21内の電極体は加熱され続ける。そして、電極体が過度に加熱された場合、セル5の安全性に悪影響を及ぼす。
電池システム1の動作の概要について説明する。上述したように、スイッチング素子9のオンオフは、制御部13によって制御される。スイッチング素子9がオン状態となると、抵抗体25に電流が流れ、抵抗体25にジュール熱が発生する。抵抗体25はケース21の面に形成されており、抵抗体25で発生したジュール熱はケース21内の電極体に伝達される。
以下において、別実施形態につき説明する。
抵抗体25の材料や寸法を変更した場合の効果の相違について説明する。電池としては、電池容量が20Ahのもの(側面寸法:8cm×12cm)及び50Ahのもの(側面寸法:10cm×15cm)を用いた。そして、印加電圧を3.5Vとし、一つの側面にのみ抵抗体25を貼り付けた。
次に、上述した熱拡散部材の材料及び厚みを変更した場合の効果の相違について説明する。

Claims (2)
- 電池ケースを有する電池と、前記電池ケースの少なくとも一の面に形成された抵抗体とを有し、
前記抵抗体が、比抵抗が10×10−8〔Ω・m,0℃〕以下である材料を含み、
前記電池ケースと前記抵抗体の間に第1熱拡散部材を有し、前記第1熱拡散部材は、熱伝導率が0.2W/m・K以上、10W/m・K以下である電池システム。 - 前記抵抗体に対して前記電池ケースとは反対側に第2熱拡散部材を有する、請求項1に記載の電池システム。
