Claims (4)
- 板ガラスのエッジの仕上げをする方法であって、
(I)前記板ガラスのエッジを、該エッジを横切る平面に沿って既定の断面輪郭となるように、機械加工するステップ、さらにその後、
(II)前記エッジを、前記既定の断面輪郭の形状を実質的に変化させずに、少なくとも1つのエンドレスベルトで仕上げするステップであって、該エッジの仕上げによって提供される前記板ガラスの平均エッジ強度が少なくとも250MPaであり、かつステップ(II)後の前記エッジの前記断面輪郭の形状が、ステップ(I)後の前記エッジの前記断面輪郭の形状に幾何学的に類似するステップを含み、
前記ステップ(II)の際に、前記エンドレスベルトの一部の(i)前記エッジに実質的に平行な方向への移動と(ii)前記エッジに対して斜めの角度の方向への移動とを選択可能として、前記エンドレスベルトの移動方向を組み合わせて前記エッジを仕上げることを可能にしたことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記ステップ(II)の際、(i)前記エンドレスベルトで前記エッジを仕上げするのに使用される研磨材を、アルミナおよびセリアから成る群から選択された材料を含む湿式スラリーを用いて適用する、または(ii)前記エンドレスベルトに研磨材が結合されている、のうちのいずれか一方であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記エンドレスベルトが、前記板ガラスの前記エッジを受け入れるように構成された、該板ガラスの該エッジにおける前記既定の断面輪郭の前記形状に幾何学的に類似した溝を、含んでいることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記ステップ(I)が、前記板ガラスの前記エッジを、該板ガラスの該エッジを横切る平面に沿って初期平均エッジ強度ESiの既定の断面輪郭となるように、機械加工するステップを含み、さらにその後、
前記ステップ(II)が、前記エッジを、前記既定の断面輪郭の形状を実質的に変化させずに、少なくとも1つの仕上げ部材で仕上げするステップを含み、このとき前記エッジの仕上げによって仕上げ後平均エッジ強度ESfを有する前記板ガラスが提供され、比率ESf/ESiが1.6から5.6までの範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1から3いずれか1項記載の方法。
