Description
本書類における「電気化学アレイ」とは、電気化学セルの秩序だったグループを指し得る。アレイは、例えば平坦な形状でも円柱形状でもよい。電気化学セルは、端部集電式燃料セル(Edge−collected fuel cell)といった燃料セルを含み得る。電気化学セルはバッテリーを含み得る。電気化学セルは、ガルバーニ電池、電解槽、電解質セル、またはこれらの組み合わせを含み得る。燃料電池の例には、プロトン交換膜燃料電池、直接メタノール燃料電池、アルカリ燃料電池、リン酸型燃料電池、溶融炭酸塩型燃料電池、固体酸化物型燃料電池、あるいはこれらの組み合わせが含まれ得る。電気化学電池は、亜鉛空気電池、亜鉛空気バッテリー、またはこれらの組み合わせといった金属空気電池を含み得る。
Tsunemoto等によるPolymer. Gels Networks,2,247(1994)、Ping等によるPolym. Adv. Tech.,5,320(1993)、Rhim等によるJ.Appl.Polym.Sci.,50,679(1993))。溶解するまで加熱され、その後凍結され、融解されたPVAは物理的に架橋したポリマー鎖のマトリックスを形成して、高弾性のゲルを作ることが近年報告されている(Stauffer等によるPolymer,33,3932(1992))。このPVAゲルは、室温で安定であり、かつ、元の形の6倍まで引き伸ばすことが可能である。PVAゲルの特性は分子量、水溶液の濃度、温度、凍結時間、および凍結融解サイクルの数に依存する。このPVAゲルは、無害かつ非発がん性の生体適合性のために、生物医学および薬学の分野で特有の着目を受ける。PEBAXおよびポリウレタンエラストマーといったポリエーテルアミドエラストマーも使用され得る。
Claims (5)
- エンクロージャによって包囲された少なくとも一つの可撓性燃料電池層と、
外部環境における選択された物質を排除するように動作可能であり、かつ、前記少なくとも一つの可撓性燃料電池層に近接して配置されたインタフェース構造であって、前記エンクロージャの外側表面の少なくとも一部に渡って拡がるインタフェース構造と、
を含み、
前記少なくとも一つの可撓性燃料電池層は、二次元的に一体化して配列された二つ以上の燃料電池からなる層である二次元層と、前記二次元層に結合された基板とを含み、前記基板は、前記基板と前記二次元層との間の囲まれた区域を形成し、
前記インタフェース構造は、前記少なくとも一つの可撓性燃料電池層に近接する二つ以上の環境条件における変化に物理的又は化学的に応答する適応材料を含み、前記適応材料は織物材料を含む、燃料電池システム。 - 前記織物材料は繊維を含み、前記繊維は、湿度の上昇によって長くなることにより前記織物材料の多孔率を増加させ、前記繊維は、湿度の低下によって短くなることにより前記織物材料の多孔率を減少させる、請求項1記載の燃料電池システム。
- 電子デバイスに動作可能に結合された、請求項1または2記載の前記燃料電池システムを含む、電子システム。
- 可撓性燃料電池層を設けることであって、前記可撓性燃料電池層はエンクロージャによって包囲され、前記可撓性燃料電池層は、二次元的に一体化して配列された二つ以上の燃料電池からなる層である二次元層と、前記二次元層に結合された基板とを含み、前記基板は、前記基板と前記二次元層との間の囲まれた区域を形成する、ことと、
前記可撓性燃料電池層に近接するインタフェース層を配置することであって、前記インタフェース層は、少なくとも1つの前記可撓性燃料電池層に近接して配置され、かつ、外部環境における選択された物質を排除するように動作可能であり、前記インタフェース層は前記エンクロージャの外側表面の少なくとも一部に渡って拡がり、前記インタフェース層は、前記可撓性燃料電池層に近接する二つ以上の環境条件における変化に物理的又は化学的に応答する適応材料を含み、前記適応材料は織物材料を含む、ことと、
を含む、方法。 - 前記織物材料は繊維を含み、前記繊維は、湿度の上昇によって長くなることにより前記織物材料の多孔率を増加させ、前記繊維は、湿度の低下によって短くなることにより前記織物材料の多孔率を減少させる、請求項4記載の方法。
