Description
本発明の核心となる考え方は、自動車のウインドシールドの左右両側端部の少なくとも一方を貫いて流れる「貫流」を、ウインドシールドと車体ピラーとの間に開口部を設けることにより実現することにある。この開口部により、自動車の走行時に発生する流れ(「走行風」)の流路が形成される。それによりこの流れが、グリーンハウスに密着した車体周りの流れに定義された形で戻されるようにしている。したがって自動車の側部領域の剥離域は、Aピラーに設けられた開口部を通過するこの貫流により低減されることになる。それによりAピラー周りに発生する渦流が弱められることによって、自動車のCd値が低減されるとともに、リヤアクスルの揚力が最小限化されるようにしている。ほかにもAピラーの領域に配置されるアウトサイドミラー周りの流れが改善されることになる。
この開口部は、好適にはAピラーの下端部である、いわゆるAピラー根元を始端として、上に向かって好ましくはAピラーの上下方向の長さのほぼ中央まで達するようになっているが、というのもこの領域においては、車体周りの気流に非常に激しい渦流が発生するからである。もっとも開口部は、そこからさらに上に向かって延びていてもかまわない。
本発明の可能性のある実施形態の一例が図面に示されているが、以下ではこれについて詳しく説明する。

Claims (4)
- 左右両側端部に車体ピラーが備えられたウインドシールドを有する自動車において、
ウインドシールド(4)の少なくとも一方の側端部(8)と、これに隣接する車体ピラー(10)との間に、自動車の走行時に空気が貫流出来る長く延伸された一つの開口部(20)を設けること、及び
車体ピラー(10)の前縁に負圧域を形成するために、前記車体ピラー(10)が翼型の断面(40)を有すること、
を特徴とする、自動車。 - 前記開口部(20)が前記車体ピラー(10)の下端部から前記車体ピラー(10)の上下方向の長さの約半分のところまで達することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の自動車。
- 前記車体ピラー(10)の前記断面(40)がその上下方向の長さに沿って変化することを特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の自動車。
- 前記翼型の翼弦線(42)が自動車(2)の横方向(Y)に対して成す角度(α)、および/または、前記翼型の翼弦線(42)が水平面に対して成す角度が、前記車体ピラー(10)の上下方向の長さに沿って変化することを特徴とする、請求項1から3に記載の自動車。
