Description
酸素含有量が1.3質量%、平均粒径が0.55μmの窒化珪素粉末を用意した。この窒化珪素粉末に、焼結助剤として平均粒径が0.7μmの酸化イットリウム粉末を6質量%、平均粒径が0.5μmの酸化アルミニウム粉末を6質量%の割合で添加した。これらを粒径が0.5mmのビーズを用いたビーズミルで粉砕・混合した。ビーズミルによる混合時間は、粉末10kg当たり1時間とした。このようにして調製した原料混合粉末の粒径を測定したところ、原料混合粉末の粒径範囲は0.2〜1.0μmであった。なお、粒径は粉末を液中に分散させたスラリーを一定径のレーザ光線中を通過させ、粒子1個ずつのレーザ光線を遮断した際の大きさに基づいて測定した。
実施例1と同一の窒化珪素粉末に対して、表1に示す焼結体組成となるように焼結助剤粉末等を添加した後、実施例1と同様に粉砕・混合して各原料混合粉末を調製した。原料混合粉末の粒径範囲はそれぞれ表1に示す通りである。
各原料粉末の混合条件とHIP圧力を変更する以外は、実施例1と同様にして窒化珪素焼結体を作製した。各原料粉末の混合にはボールミルを使用した。各窒化珪素焼結体の特性を実施例1と同様にして測定した。それらの結果を表2および表3に示す。
実施例1と同一の窒化珪素粉末に対して、表4に示す焼結体組成となるように焼結助剤粉末等を添加した後、粉砕・混合して各原料混合粉末を調製した。実施例11〜20については実施例1と同様に、ビーズミルを用いて原料混合粉末を調製した。比較例4〜8については、ボールミルを用いて原料混合粉末を調製した。ビーズミルおよびボールミルによる混合時間は表5に示す通りである。このようにして調製した各原料混合粉末の粒径を測定した。その結果を表4に示す。実施例および比較例の原料混合粉末はいずれも平均粒径(D50)が0.6μm程度であったが、比較例は粒径が1.0μmを超えて1.5μm以下の粒子を20%(質量比)程度含んでいた。
実施例1と同一組成となるように、窒化珪素粉末に焼結助剤粉末等を添加した後、実施例1と同様にビーズミルを用いて粉砕・混合して各原料混合粉末を調製した。ただし、ビーズミルによる混合時間は、それぞれ表8に示す時間を適用した。実施例および比較例による各原料混合粉末の粒径範囲は表8に示す通りである。
Claims (9)
- 窒化珪素粒子と、1質量%以上6質量%以下の範囲の希土類元素および0.5質量%以上6質量%以下の範囲のAlを含む焼結助剤成分とを含有し、さらにTi、Zr、Hf、W、Mo、Ta、NbおよびCrから選ばれる少なくとも1種の金属元素を、前記金属元素の単体または前記金属元素の化合物として0.01質量%以上5質量%以下の範囲で含有する窒化珪素焼結体であって、
前記窒化珪素粒子は、長径Lが10μm以下で、かつ短径Sに対する長径Lの比(L/S)が5以上である針状結晶粒子を、前記窒化珪素焼結体の結晶組織内に面積比で50%以上80%以下の範囲で有し、前記窒化珪素焼結体中に存在するボイドの最大径が2μm以下であり、かつ3000倍の視野で測定される前記ボイドの数が30×30μmの範囲内に5個以下であることを特徴とする窒化珪素焼結体。 - 請求項1記載の窒化珪素焼結体において、
前記金属元素はTi、Hf、WおよびMoから選ばれる少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする窒化珪素焼結体。 - 請求項1または請求項2記載の窒化珪素焼結体において、

前記窒化珪素焼結体は、常圧焼結、雰囲気加圧焼結、ホットプレス、およびホットアイソスタティックプレスのいずれか一つまたは複数を組合わせて焼結することにより製造されたものであることを特徴とする窒化珪素焼結体。 - 請求項1ないし請求項6のいずれか1項記載の窒化珪素焼結体を具備することを特徴とする摺動部材。
- 請求項7記載の摺動部材において、
ベアリングボールであることを特徴とする摺動部材。 - 請求項8記載の摺動部材において、
前記ベアリングボールは、最大接触圧力5.9MPa、回転数1200rpmの条件下で転がり寿命をスラスト型軸受試験機で測定したとき、600時間以上の転がり寿命を有することを特徴とする摺動部材。
