Description
図1は、支持部材の一つである枠部材、特に上枠部材URM1に本発明を適用した場合の実施例である。図5に示す液晶表示パネルPNLを光学シートOSやバックライトBLと一緒に覆う上枠部材URMとは異なり、図1に示す上枠部材URM1は、液晶表示パネルPNLを上枠部材URM1の上面に配置している。一点鎖線で表示された表示パネルPNLを支持する上枠部材URM1は、該表示パネルPNLの対向する2辺のみを支持するための、支持片1を有している。そして、表示パネルPNLは該支持片1に接着等で固定される。

Claims (9)
- 基板上に複数の画素を二次元状に配列し、画像を表示することが可能な表示パネルと、該表示パネルを支持する支持部材とを有する表示装置において、
前記支持部材は、枠部材であり、
前記枠部材は、矩形状の枠状部と前記表示パネルと接する支持部とを有し、
前記支持部は、前記枠状部の対向する2辺から前記枠状部の内側へ突出し、
前記表示パネルの二次元の変形を、前記支持部のみで抑制することによって、前記表示パネルの一次元の変形を促進するように、前記枠部材の曲げ強度が異方性を有することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置において、前記枠部材は、前記枠状部の外周に、前記表示パネルが配置されている側へ突出する折返し部が設けられていることを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1又は請求項2に記載の表示装置において、
前記支持部の前記液晶表示パネルと接する面は、前記枠状部の前記表示パネルと対向する面よりも、前記表示パネルの側に位置していることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 基板上に複数の画素を二次元状に配列し、画像を表示することが可能な表示パネルと、該表示パネルを支持する支持部材とを有する表示装置において、
該表示パネルの二次元の変形を抑制し、一次元の変形を促進するように、該支持部材の曲げ強度が異方性を有し、
該支持部材は、該表示パネル、光学シート及びバックライト部材を収容するケース部材であり、
該ケース部材は、底面と、該底面から折り曲げられ、該表示パネルの対向する2辺を支持する、該底面の端部に形成された2つの側面支持部とを有し、
該ケース部材の該底面には、該側面支持部に平行な複数の溝が形成されていることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項4に記載の表示装置において、該底面の端部のうち該側面支持部が形成されていない側の端部の各々には、該底面から折り曲げられ、該表示パネルの対向する前記2辺とは異なる他の2辺の一部を支持する複数個の補助支持部が形成されていることを特徴とする表示装置。
- 基板上に複数の画素を二次元状に配列し、画像を表示することが可能な表示パネルと、該表示パネルを支持する支持部材とを有する表示装置において、
該表示パネルの二次元の変形を抑制し、一次元の変形を促進するように、該支持部材の曲げ強度が異方性を有し、
該支持部材は、平面的に見て該表示パネルと重畳する支持面を有し、該表示パネルの表示面とは反対側の背面を前記支持面で支持する背面支持部材であり、
前記支持面は、該表示パネルの対向する2辺に直交する方向に連続して厚みが変化する凹部が形成されていることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項6に記載の表示装置において、該凹部は、前記支持面の該表示パネルが配置される側とは反対の側に形成されていることを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項6に記載の表示装置において、該背面支持部材は、該表示パネルの対向する2辺に平行な複数の梁構造を有することを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項6に記載の表示装置において、該背面支持部材は、前記支持面に該表示パネルの対向する2辺に平行な複数の溝構造を有することを特徴とする表示装置。
