Description
1:2つの流路の内のガイドロールの回転方向前側の上層用流路の中心線と、2つの流路の内のガイドロールの回転方向後側の下層用流路の中心線と、がなす角αが0.5〜25°であり、
2:上層用流路の中心線及び下層用流路の中心線の交点とガイドロールの軸とを結ぶ線と、上層用流路の中心線と、がなす角βが、この結ぶ線から上層用流路の中心線に向かってガイドロールの回転方向と逆方向に測定して0〜70°であり、及び、
3:2つの流路が合流する点と開口との距離γが0.05〜2.8mmであり、前記ガイドロールの軸に対して垂直な断面において、前記上層用流路の幅:前記下層用流路の幅=3:2〜3:1であり、上層用の塗布液の固形分濃度は20〜30wt%であり、下層用塗布液の固形分濃度は15〜35wt%であり、下層の厚みが5μm以下である。
したがって、上層Lu及び下層Ldの厚みやこれらの和である積層体Lの厚みを均一にしやすい。これに対して、角度α、β、及び、距離γが上述の条件を満たさない場合には、上層Ld及び下層Lu間の界面の波打ちを抑制できず、場合によっては、下層Ldが全く形成されない部分が生じたりする。特に、下層Ldに対して設定する乾燥後の平均厚みが1〜10μm程度の場合は、従来の塗布装置では下層を均一に塗布することが著しく困難であるが、本実施形態では、十分に均一な下層を形成できる。また、上層と下層との粘度が大きく異なる例えば、差が8000〜10000cp程度でも実施可能である。
活物質として、三元系正極材料(LiNiMnCoO2−リチウムニッケルマンガンコバルト系複合酸化物)89質量部及びグラファイト(商品名:KS−6、ロンザ社製)3質量部、導電助剤としてカーボンブラック(商品名:DAB、電気化学工業(株)製)3質量部、結着剤としてポリフッ化ビニリデン(商品名:KYNAR 761、ATFINA社製)5質量部を混合分散した後、溶媒としてN−メチル−ピロリドン(NMP)を適量投入して固形分が25wt%となるように粘度調節し、スラリー状の上層用塗布液を調製した。
リン酸鉄リチウム(LiFePO4)90質量部、結着剤としてポリフッ化ビニリデン(商品名:KYNAR 761、ATFINA社製)10質量部を混合分散した後、溶媒としてN−メチル−ピロリドン(NMP)を固形分濃度15,20,25,30,35wt%になるよう投入して粘度調節し、スラリー状の下層用塗布液を5種類調製した。
半径60.2mmのガイドロールを用い、厚み21μm、幅150mmのAlシートの表面に、スリット幅24Wが300μmの図2の如きスリットダイを用いて、上層用塗布液(乾燥厚み80μm)及び下層用塗布液(乾燥厚み5μm)を同時塗布し、乾燥して重層電極を形成した。ここで、スリットダイにおける、α、β、γ、δ、上層用流路の幅23aW及び下層用流路の幅23bWの組合せ、及び、下層用塗布液の固形分濃度は、表1に示すようにした。また、シートの送り速度は15m/minとした。なお、実施例3では、2つの流路をペットフィルムで仕切ることにより角度αを0.5°とした。比較例1ではβを−1°としたが、これは、上層用流路23aの中心線23aaを、結ぶ線23xxよりもガイドロール6の回転方向前側に傾斜させたことを意味する。比較例4では、2つの流路を1つの開口に合流させず、独立した2つの開口から各層を吐出させた。
重層電極の積層方向に対して垂直かつシート送り方向に平行な断面のSEM写真を撮影し、上層と下層との界面、及び、Alシートの表面を画像処理により抽出し、界面の位置の分布を取得し、界面の位置の標準偏差を取得した。結果を表1に示す。
Claims (3)
- 被塗布シートを案内するガイドロールと、
前記ガイドロールの軸方向に伸びる開口を有し前記ガイドロールによりガイドされた被塗布シートの表面に液を塗布するスリットダイと、
を備え、
前記スリットダイは、前記ガイドロールの回転方向に離間し、前記開口にて合流する2つの流路を有し、
前記ガイドロールの軸に対して垂直な断面において、
前記流路の内の前記ガイドロールの回転方向前側の上層用流路の中心線と、前記流路の内の前記ガイドロールの回転方向後側の下層用流路の中心線と、がなす角αが0.5〜25°であり、
前記上層用流路の中心線及び前記下層用流路の中心線の交点と前記ガイドロールの軸とを結ぶ線と、前記上層用流路の中心線とがなす角βが、前記結ぶ線から前記上層用流路の中心線に向かって前記ガイドロールの回転方向と逆方向に測定して0〜70°であり、及び、
前記2つの流路が合流する点と前記開口との距離γが0.05〜2.8mmであり、
前記ガイドロールの軸に対して垂直な断面において、前記上層用流路の幅:前記下層用流路の幅=3:2〜3:1であり、
塗布液の粘度は1P〜500Pであり、
上層用の塗布液の固形分濃度は20〜30wt%であり、
下層用塗布液の固形分濃度は15〜35wt%であり、
下層の厚みが5μm以下である、液塗布装置。 - 前記開口よりも前記回転方向前側に前記ガイドロールと対向するエッジ部を有し、前記エッジ部の前記ガイドロールの回転方向に沿う長さδが0.01〜0.05mmである請求項1に記載の液塗布装置。
- 請求項1又は2のいずれかに記載の液塗布装置における、前記下層用流路に対して、固形分濃度が20〜30wt%の液を供給する、液塗布方法。
