Description
1.缶底部の穴を接着テープで封止する。
2.セルを4から7日間寝かせてテープを除去する。
3.(米国ニュージャージー州ベルビルのRoyal Adhesives and Swalants社が提供するHARDMAN(登録商標)エポキシ、又は米国マサチューセッツ州ダンバーズのITW Devcon社が提供するDEVCON(登録商標)エポキシなどの)エポキシの層をトレイに施工し、その後缶底部をトレイに向けた状態でセルをエポキシの層に圧入して缶底部の穴を封止し、穴を通じてさらなる空気がセルに入らないようにする。
4.エポキシ密封したセルを45℃で7日間保存し、その後、室温で開回路電圧(OCV)を試験する。平均OCVを表1に示す。
1.セルの底部から接着テープを除去する。
2.(6.0cm×5.5cmなどの)小さなアルミホイル積層ポリバッグにセルを入れ、ほとんどの空気をバッグから除去し、閉じたバッグを熱融着する。
3.密封したバッグをガラス容器に入れ、(真空油などの)油で容器を満たし、バッグを油内に完全に沈める。
4.(目盛付きピペットなどの)目盛付きガラス管でガラス容器を閉鎖し、容器内に気泡が残らず、油が目盛付きガラス管を部分的に上昇するようにして、管内の油のレベルを記録する。
5.目盛付きガラス管を含む閉鎖したガラス容器を60℃の水浴に浸漬する。
6.14日目の目盛付きガラス管内の油のレベルをチェックし、水浴内のその後のレベルを試験中一定レベルに維持しながら、試験開始以来変位した油の容量を記録し、これを試験中に発生したガスの容量とする。

Claims (14)
- 第1及び第2の電極と、
前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極との間に配置したセパレータと、
水性アルカリ電解質と、
第1の電極ケーシング及び第2の電極ケーシング、及び前記第1の電極ケーシングと第2の電極ケーシングとの間に配置した電気的絶縁ガスケットを含むとともに前記第1の電極、第2の電極、セパレータ及び電解質を収容するハウジングと、
を含み、
前記第1の電極ケーシングは、前記第1の電極と接触する内面と外面とを有し、且つ、基材を備えており、該基材は、前記第1の電極ケーシングの前記内面側における内側と、前記第1の電極ケーシングの前記外面側における外側とを有し、
前記基材の前記内側及び前記外側のうちの少なくとも一方は、少なくとも前記基材に近い側に配置された第1のコーティング層及び前記基材から遠い側に配置された第2のコーティング層とでコーティングされており、
前記第1のコーティング層及び第2のコーティング層は、銅、スズ及び亜鉛を含む合金を独立して含み、前記第1のコーティング層の銅の重量パーセントが前記第2のコーティング層よりも大きく、前記第2のコーティング層のスズの重量パーセントが前記第1のコーティング層よりも大きく、
前記第1の電極ケーシングの基材が、該電極ケーシングの基材の前記内側に銅層を含む少なくとも2つの基材層を含む、
ことを特徴とする電気化学セル。 - 前記第1の電極は亜鉛を含む負極であり、前記第2の電極は、二酸化マンガン、酸化銀、及び酸素を減少させるため或いは水素又は酸素を発生させるための触媒物質のうちの少なくとも1つを含む正極である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記基材層は、前記外側から前記内側までに、ニッケル層、ステンレス鋼層、及び前記銅層をこの順に有し、前記第1のコーティング層の厚さは前記第2のコーティング層の厚さよりも厚く、前記第1の電極には水銀が加えられていない、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記第2のコーティング層は、少なくとも前記第1の電極ケーシングの前記外面の露出した部分に存在する、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記第1のコーティング層は、SEM/EDSにより前記第1の電極ケーシングの前記外面の中心部分で測定した場合、銅が50から70重量パーセント、スズが26から42重量パーセント、亜鉛が3から9重量パーセントの比率を有し、前記第2のコーティング層は、SEM/EDSにより前記第1の電極ケーシングの前記外面の中心部分で測定した場合、銅が36から46重量パーセント、スズが42から57重量パーセント、亜鉛が6.5から9.5重量パーセントの比率を有する、
ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の電気化学セル。 - 酸素を減少させ、或いは水素又は酸素を発生させるための触媒電極と、
活物質として金属を含む対極と、
水性アルカリ電解質と、
前記触媒電極と前記対極との間に配置したセパレータと、
触媒電極ケーシング及び対極ケーシングを含むハウジングと、
前記触媒電極ケーシングと対極ケーシングとの間に配置した電気的絶縁ガスケットと、
を含み、前記ハウジングは、前記触媒電極、対極、セパレータ及び電解質を収容し、
前記対極ケーシングは、前記対極と接触するとともに、内面及び外面を有するめっき基材を含み、前記基材は、少なくとも第1のコーティング層と該第1のコーティング層の上に配置された第2のコーティング層とでめっきされ、前記第1のコーティング層及び第2のコーティング層は、銅、スズ及び亜鉛を含む合金を独立して含み、前記第1のコーティング層の銅の含有量が前記第2のコーティング層よりも大きく、前記第2のコーティング層のスズの含有量が前記第1のコーティング層よりも大きく、
前記第2のコーティング層は、少なくとも前記対極ケーシングの前記外面の露出部分に存在し、前記対極ケーシングの基材は、外側から内側までに、ニッケル層、ステンレス鋼層、及び前記銅層をこの順に含む層を有する、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記対極は、ゲル化剤及び亜鉛を含むゲル状電極であり、前記触媒電極は、炭素、結合剤、及び酸化マンガンを含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記第1のコーティング層の厚さは前記第2のコーティング層の厚さよりも厚く、前記対極には水銀が加えられていない、
ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記第1のコーティング層が、SEM/EDSにより前記対極ケーシングの中心部分で測定した場合、銅が50から70重量パーセント、スズが26から42重量パーセント、亜鉛が3から9重量パーセントの比率を有し、前記第2のコーティング層は、SEM/EDSにより前記対極ケーシングの中心部分で測定した場合、銅が36から46重量パーセント、スズが42から57重量パーセント、亜鉛が6.5から9.5重量パーセントの比率を有する、
ことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の電気化学セル。 - 前記基材の内面及び外面は、該基材の成形後に前記第1及び第2のコーティング層でめっきされる、ことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の電気化学セル。
- 請求項1に記載の電気化学セルを形成する方法であって、
内面及び外面を有する金属基材を含む第1の電極ケーシングを提供するステップと、
前記第1の電極ケーシングがめっき溶液と接触している間に可変電流密度を利用して前記第1の電極ケーシングをめっきすることによりめっきケーシングを作製するステップと、
を含み、
前記めっきケーシングの表面に露出しためっきと比較した場合、前記基材と接触している前記めっきの部分から得られるスズの含有量が増加し、
前記第1の電極ケーシングの前記内面に接触している第1の電極と水性アルカリ電解質とを含む電気化学セルを形成するステップをさらに含み、
めっき前に、前記第1の電極ケーシングの金属基材は、該基材の前記内側に銅基材層を有することを特徴とする方法。 - 前記可変電流密度めっきの第1の電流密度は10から1,076アンペア/平方メートルの範囲であり、前記可変電流密度めっきの第2の電流密度は、該第2の電流密度の方が前記第1の電流密度よりも低いという条件で、1.0から27.0アンペア/平方メートルの範囲である、
ことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。 - 少なくとも第1のコーティング層及び第2のコーティング層がめっきされ、前記めっきした第2のコーティング層は、前記第1のコーティング層と比較してスズの重量パーセントが高いとともに銅の重量パーセントが低く、前記第1及び第2のコーティング層は、各々が銅、スズ及び亜鉛を含む合金を独立して含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。 - 前記第1の電極は亜鉛を含む負極であり、前記第2の電極は、二酸化マンガン、酸化銀、及び酸素を減少させるため或いは水素又は酸素を発生させるための触媒物質のうちの少なくとも1つを含む正極であり、前記セルはボタンセルであり、前記第1のコーティング層の厚さは前記第2のコーティング層の厚さよりも厚く、前記第1の電極には水銀が加えられていない、
ことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の方法。
