Description
以下、図面を参照しながら本発明の好適な実施の形態を説明する。図1(a)は複数の画素を有する発光装置の概略斜視図である。画素1は、各画素1に制御信号を送るための信号線3と制御信号を送る画素を順次選択する選択線2との交差部付近に配置されている。図1(b)は、本発明の発光装置が有する画素1の概略平面図である。画素1は、有機EL素子が形成される発光領域4と、有機EL素子を駆動する回路が形成される非発光領域5とから構成されている。画素1の発光領域4には、有機EL素子と制御信号を保持する保持容量とがあり、画素1の非発光領域5には、有機EL素子を駆動する駆動トランジスタがある。制御信号は、駆動トランジスタを制御する信号であり、この信号に応じた電流が駆動トランジスタによって有機EL素子に流される。この制御信号によって、有機EL素子の発光強度が決まる。なお、制御信号は、その信号に応じた電位(以下、信号電位という)として画素に送られる。
図5(a)は本実施形態の画素内の回路図である。第1の実施形態とは、保持容量20の駆動トランジスタ30のゲート電極31と電気的に接続されている端子N1とは異なる端子N2が一定の電位を供給する電位線9に接続されている点が異なる。この電位線9によって保持容量20の端子N2に一定の電位に規定されている。

Claims (7)
- 有機EL素子と、前記有機EL素子を駆動する駆動トランジスタと、前記駆動トランジスタを制御する制御信号を保持する保持容量と、を有し、前記有機EL素子は前記駆動トランジスタのソース電極とドレイン電極のうち一方と電気的に接続されている発光装置であって、
前記保持容量は、金属層と絶縁層と半導体層とをこの順で有しており、
前記半導体層は、前記有機EL素子が発する光を受光し、
前記保持容量の前記金属層及び前記半導体層のうち一方は、前記駆動トランジスタのゲート電極と電気的に接続され、且つ、他方は一定の電位に設定されていることを特徴とする発光装置。 - 基板を有し、
前記保持容量は、前記基板と前記有機EL素子との間に配置され、
前記保持容量の前記基板の面内方向の面積は、前記有機EL素子の発光面積よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発光装置。 - 基板を有し、
前記保持容量は、前記基板と前記有機EL素子との間に配置され、
前記基板とは反対側から前記有機EL素子が発する光を射出し、
前記有機EL素子の前記保持容量に近い電極は、厚さが30nm以上50nm以下である金属層を有していることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の発光装置。 - 基板を有し、
前記保持容量は、前記基板と前記有機EL素子との間に配置され、
前記保持容量は、前記基板側から前記金属層と前記絶縁層と前記半導体層と導電層をこの順で有しており、
前記導電層は、金属酸化物導電層と厚さが5nm以上200nm以下である金属層のうち少なくとも一つを有していることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の発光装置。 - 前記保持容量の前記金属層及び前記半導体層のうち前記他方は、前記駆動トランジスタのソース電極とドレイン電極のうち前記有機EL素子と電気的に接続されていない方と接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の発光装置。
- 前記半導体層の厚さは、50nm以上300nm以下であり、
前記絶縁層の厚さは、100nm以上500nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の発光装置。 - 請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の発光装置を露光光源として用いた露光装置。
