Claims (8)
- (a)20psig〜100psigの加圧下でコールタール蒸留物を450℃〜525℃の温度に加熱して、原料コークスを得るステップと、
(b)前記原料コークスを焼成して、針状コークスを製造するステップと、
を含み、
前記コールタール蒸留物は、コールタールを蒸留した際の軽質の留分で280℃を超える初留点を有し、かつ、1%以上の改良コンラドソン法による炭素残留量を有し、そして、
前記針状コークスの熱膨張係数は、0.005ppm/℃〜0.150ppm/℃である、針状コークスの製造方法。 - 前記ステップ(b)を行う前に、前記ステップ(a)から得た前記未加工状態のコーク
スを押しつぶすことを含む請求項1に記載の針状コークスの製造方法。 - 前記ステップ(a)において、前記コールタール蒸留物を一時間あたり35℃〜65℃
の速度で加熱することを含む請求項1又は2に記載の針状コークスの製
造方法。 - 前記ステップ(a)における温度を16時間〜25時間維持することを含む請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の針状コークスの製造方法。
- 前記ステップ(b)において、押しつぶした前記原料コークスを1300℃〜1500
℃の温度に焼成する請求項1ないし4のいずれか一項に記載の針状コークスの製造方法。 - 前記ステップ(b)における温度を20分間〜40分間維持することを含む請求項5に
記載の針状コークスの製造方法。 - (a)20psig〜100psigの加圧下でコールタール蒸留物を450℃〜525℃の温度に加熱して、原料コークスを得るステップと、
(b)前記原料コークスを焼成して、針状コークスを製造するステップと、
(c)前記針状コークスを粉末化するステップと、
(d)前記粉末化した針状コークスと、コールタール・バインダーピッチと、を混合し
て、前記針状コークスと前記コールタール・バインダーピッチとの混合物を製造するステ
ップと、
(e)前記混合物を押し出して、生電極を形成するステップと、
(f)前記生電極を焼き上げて、焼成電極を製造するステップと、
(g)前記焼成電極を黒鉛化して、黒鉛電極を製造するステップと、
を含み、
前記コールタール蒸留物は、コールタールを蒸留した際の軽質の留分で280℃を超える初留点を有し、かつ、1%以上の改良コンラドソン法による炭素残留量を有し、そして、
前記針状コークス及び前記黒鉛電極の熱膨張係数は、0.005ppm/℃〜0.150ppm/℃である、黒鉛電極の製造方法。 - 前記ステップ(d)における前記混合物が、前記コールタール・バインダーピッチを1
5重量%〜35重量%含有する請求項7に記載の黒鉛電極の製造方法。
