Description
Claims (16)
- 自動車の排気ガスの触媒処理のための装置であって、中空円筒として設計された触媒基材(101)と、入口側ガスバッフル(102)および出口側ガスバッフル(103)と、外壁(104)とを備え、前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル(102,103)が前記触媒基材(101)を囲むと共に、前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)と前記触媒基材(101)とが第1キャビティ(105)を形成しており、この第1キャビティ内へ排気ガス流(106)が送り込まれ、前記触媒基材(101)を通過して第2キャビティ(107)に進入することができ、この第2キャビティは前記外壁(104)、前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル(102,103)および前記触媒基材(101)によって取り囲まれているものにおいて、
前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)は複数のガス排出口(108)を有し、前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)に複数の縁曲領域(109)を区画するための切れ込みが形成され、前記縁曲領域(109)を第2キャビティ(107)内に向けて縁曲げすることにより、縁曲げ前において前記縁曲領域(109)があった場所に前記ガス排出口(108)が形成され、かつ、縁曲げされた複数の縁曲領域(109)が前記触媒基材(101)の外周面を拘束している、ことを特徴とする自動車の排気ガスの触媒処理のための装置。 - 前記入口側ガスバッフル(102)を屈曲させることによって、前記入口側ガスバッフル(102)に環状の窪み(111)が形成されており、この窪み(111)内へ前記触媒基材(101)が強制固定式に取り付けられている、請求項1記載の装置。
- 前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)を屈曲させることによって、中空円筒として設計された前記触媒基材(101)の内周面が当接する屈曲部(112)が前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)に形成されており、前記触媒基材(101)が前記縁曲領域(109)と前記屈曲部(112)との間に強制固定式に取り付けられている、請求項1または2記載の装置。
- 前記触媒基材(101)は、ウォッシュコートの設けられた金属製またはセラミック材料製のハニカム体である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の装置。
- 前記触媒基材(101)は巻回触媒基材である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の装置。
- 前記巻回触媒基材には2つ以上のコーティング材料が設けられ、使用される前記コーティング材料同士が互いに異なる孔隙率を有している、請求項5記載の装置。
- 前記入口側ガスバッフルおよび前記出口側ガスバッフルと前記触媒基材との間に、それぞれ支持シール(110)が配置されている、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の装置。
- 前記支持シール(110)はワイヤークロスのリングを備えている、請求項7記載の装置。
- 前記支持シール(110)は弾性材料から成る、請求項7記載の装置。
- 前記触媒基材が、三元触媒、ディーゼル酸化触媒、NOX吸蔵触媒、または選択触媒還元のための触媒を担持している、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の装置。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載された自動車の排気ガスの触媒処理のための装置を製造する方法において、
前記入口側ガスバッフル(102)と前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)との間に前記触媒基材(101)を強制固定式に配置することと、
前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル(102,103)を前記外壁(104)に連結することと、
を備え、
前記入口側ガスバッフル(102)と前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)との間に前記触媒基材(101)を強制固定式に配置することが、前記出口側ガスバッフル(103)に複数の縁曲領域(109)を区画するための切れ込みを形成するとともに、前記縁曲領域(109)を第2キャビティ(107)内に向けて縁曲げすることを含んでおり、この縁曲げにより、縁曲げ前において前記縁曲領域(109)があった場所に前記ガス排出口(108)が形成され、かつ、縁曲げされた複数の縁曲領域(109)により前記触媒基材(101)の外周面が拘束される、ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル(102,103)を前記外壁(104)に連結することは、前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル(102,103)を前記外壁(104)に溶接することによって行われる、請求項11記載の方法。
- 打抜き機、フライス盤、または鋸によって前記切れ込みが付けられる、請求項11または12記載の方法。
- 前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル同士の間に前記触媒基材(101)が配置される前に、前記触媒基材(101)と前記入口側および出口側ガスバッフル(102,103)との間に支持シール(110)が配置される、請求項11〜13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載された自動車の排気ガスの触媒処理のための装置を使用する方法において、
排気ガス流(106)が、前記入口側ガスバッフル(102)側から前記第1キャビティ(105)内に導入され、そこから当該排気ガス流が前記触媒基材(101)を通過して前記第2キャビティ(107)内へと導入され、そこから前記ガス排出口(108)を通って排出されるように、排気ガス流を流す、方法。 - 請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載された自動車の排気ガスの触媒処理のための装置を使用する方法において、
排気ガス流(106)が、前記ガス排出口(108)から前記第2キャビティ(107)内に導入され、そこから当該排気ガス流が前記触媒基材(101)を通過して前記第1キャビティ(105)内へと導入され、そこから前記入口側ガスバッフル(102)側に排出されるように、排気ガス流を流す、方法。
