Description
(1) 排気管の径を小さくする、つまり排気通路を絞る、
(2) 排気管の長さを伸ばす、つまり排気通路を長くする、
(3) 膨張室の容積を増加する、
等の対策が効果を奏するが、前記(1) は排気の背圧(排気の吐出を妨げる圧力)を高めて、エンジン出力を低下させる要因になり、前記(2) は、車両全長長さの制約、車両床下の他部品との干渉という制約から排気管の長さを伸ばせない場合があり、前記(3) は同じく車両床下の他部品との干渉という制約から膨張室の容積を増加できないことがあって、(1) 〜(3) の対策は、それぞれ新たな課題があり、また実施する上での困難さを伴う。
排気管の途中に介入する内筒と、この内筒を収容してそれとの間に膨張室を形成するハウジングとを備え、
ハウジング内に膨張室を半径方向内側の内側膨張室と半径方向外側の外側膨張室とに区画する仕切り筒を設け、外側膨張室に吸音材を充填すると共に、仕切り筒に内側膨張室と外側膨張室とを連通する仕切り筒小孔群を形成し、内筒にその内部を内側膨張室に連通する内筒小孔群を形成するものにおいて、
内筒を流れる排気ガスの流れ方向において、仕切り筒小孔群は、内筒小孔群よりも上流側にあって、仕切り筒小孔群と内筒小孔群とを軸方向に重なり合わせることなく、かつ軸方向に所定距離を隔てて形成したことを特徴としている。

Claims (1)
- 車両用エンジンの排気管に設けられる消音器であって、
排気管(3)の途中に介入する内筒(10)と、この内筒(10)を収容してそれとの間に膨張室(11)を形成するハウジング(12)とを備え、
ハウジング(12)内に膨張室(11)を半径方向内側の内側膨張室(11a)と半径方向外側の外側膨張室(11b)とに区画する仕切り筒(17)を設け、外側膨張室(11b)に吸音材(23)を充填すると共に、仕切り筒(17)に内側膨張室(11a)と外側膨張室(11b)とを連通する仕切り筒小孔群(22)を形成し、内筒(10)にその内部を内側膨張室(11a)に連通する内筒小孔群(21)を形成するものにおいて、 内筒(10)を流れる排気ガスの流れ方向において、仕切り筒小孔群(22)は、内筒小孔群(21)よりも上流側にあって、仕切り筒小孔群(22)と内筒小孔群(21)とを軸方向に重なり合わせることなく、かつ軸方向に所定距離(C)を隔てて形成したことを特徴とする、車両用エンジンの排気管に設けられる消音器。
