Description
この発明は、生体内センシングの分野に関する。特に、この発明は、液体によって運ぶことのできる浮揚可能な生体内画像化装置に関する。
生体内センサは、さまざまな身体系の診断において用いられる非侵襲性器具である。たとえば、経口摂取可能な装置が、胃腸(GI)管における温度、pHまたは圧力などの生体内の状態を検知するために用いられ得る。経口摂取可能な画像化装置は、胃腸管を画像化するために用いることができる。たとえば、画像センサなどのセンサを含むカプセルが摂取され得、小腸を画像化しつつ、そうでない場合は検知しつつ、蠕動によって小腸の中を受動的に移動し得る。しかしながら、大腸などのより大きな体内腔を通る物体の受動的な移動は、より遅く、かつ予測できない可能性がある。大腸または結腸は、その主な機能が便から大半の水分を除去し、便を溜めることであり、小さな袋状の膨出である盲腸から始まり、上行結腸に続き、右鼠径部における虫垂から肝臓における湾曲部、横行結腸、肝臓から脾臓、下行結腸、脾臓から左鼠径部、次いでS状(S字形の)結腸から正中線および肛門へと戻る。結腸は3つの縦走筋の帯を有し、それらの活動が、結腸の中を通る移動を助ける。
この発明の一実施例は、液体によって運ぶことのできる実質的に浮揚可能なセンシング装置を提供する。この発明の一実施例に従ったセンシング装置は、大量の液体を含有するかまたは含有可能である内腔を、画像化などにより検知するのに有用である。このような内腔の一例には大腸がある。この発明の本質的に浮揚可能なセンシング装置は、液体によって運ばれるので、大量の液体とともに内腔の中を移動させることができる。
この発明の一実施例に従って、センシング装置が図1に概略的に示される。センシング装置10は独立したカプセル型の装置であり、このため、小腸の中を容易に移動させることができる。しかしながら、この発明の別の実施例に従った独立したセンシング装置は、胃腸管、生殖器系、血管などの体内腔への挿入および体内腔の中を通る移動に好適ないずれの形状または設計をも有し得ることが理解されるべきである。

- 体腔内液において浮揚するように構成された生体内センシング装置であって、前記生体内センシング装置は、
前記体腔内液において浮揚し且つ胃腸管を通って移動するように前記体腔内液よりも軽い物質を内部に有するカプセル(10)と;
前記胃腸管を照らすために前記カプセル(10)に収容された照明源と;
前記胃腸管を画像化するために前記カプセル(10)に収容された画像センサ(16)と;
前記画像センサ(16)によって得られた画像信号を伝送するために前記カプセル(10)に収容された送信機と
を有し、
