[図2]図2は、図1に示す液晶表示パネルの部分的な断面構造を示す図である。
[図3]図3は、図2に示す断面構造により1画素分の表示を行うOCB液晶表示素子の回路構成を示す図である。
[図4]図4は、図3に示すOCB液晶表示素子において液晶印加電圧として印加される転移電圧によりスプレイ配向からベンド配向に転移する液晶分子の配向状態を示す図である。
[図5]図5は、図1に示す液晶表示装置の動作を説明するための波形図である。
[図6]図6は、図1に示す液晶表示装置のセットアップ時間を説明するための図である。
[図7]図7は、従来の液晶表示装置のセットアップ時間を説明するための図である。
Claims (9)
- 液晶分子の配向状態がスプレイ配向から画像を表示可能なベンド配向に転移するように初期化される液晶表示素子部と、前記初期化において前記液晶分子の配向状態を前記スプレイ配向から前記ベンド配向に転移させる転移電圧を前記液晶表示素子部に印加し、前記初期化後において外部の画像情報処理ユニットの処理結果に対応して前記液晶表示素子部を駆動するように構成された駆動回路と、前記画像情報処理ユニットの起動後において実質的な画像情報処理を開始する前に安定化されて前記画像情報処理ユニットから前記駆動回路に対して供給される電源電圧に応答するように構成され、前記転移電圧の印加を開始させて印加期間を計測する基準として前記駆動回路に出力されるクロック信号を前記駆動回路に対する電力供給に伴って発生するクロック信号発生器とを備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 前記クロック信号発生器は、前記駆動回路および前記液晶表示素子部を含むモジュール、並びに前記画像情報処理ユニットのうちの一方に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記クロック信号発生器の応答時間は約0.08秒以内であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶表示素子部は、複数の画素電極が配向膜で覆われてマトリクス状に配置される第1電極基板、対向電極が配向膜で覆われて前記複数の画素電極に対向するように配置される第2電極基板、および各配向膜に隣接して前記第1および第2電極基板間に挟持される液晶層からなり各々対応画素電極の範囲で画素を構成する複数の液晶表示素子を含み、前記駆動回路は各画素電極の電位に対する前記対向電極の電位をシフトさせるように前記転移電圧を印加することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記転移電圧の印加期間はリセット期間と前記リセット期間に続く転移期間とに区分され、前記駆動回路は前記転移電圧を前記リセット期間において前記液晶分子の配向状態を整える一定値に維持し前記転移期間において前記液晶分子の配向状態を前記スプレイ配向から前記ベンド配向に実質的に転移させる異なる極性の値に交互に変化させることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記リセット期間は約0.4秒であり、前記転移期間は約0.6秒であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記一定値は実質的に零ボルトであることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記異なる極性の値は絶対値として約25ボルトであることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記駆動回路は、前記転移電圧を前記転移期間において異なる極性の値に交互に変化させる転移電圧設定部を含み、前記転移電圧設定部は前記画素電極に対する前記対向電極の電圧を可変して前記転移期間における転移電圧の極性を変更させることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
