Description
レーザのQスイッチングと自己起動(起動パルス)でも、非線形光学材料と可飽和吸収体の両方またはいずれか一方を用いる。受動Qスイッチレーザについては、米国特許第4,191,931号;5,119,382号;5,408,480号に例示されている。
染料などの有機材料は、数百ナノメートル(nm)にわたって広帯域吸収応答性を示す。しかし、レーザ構成において染料を用いるには、ノズルなどの機械的素子を用いなければならず、機械的素子は大きく機械的機能不良になりやすく、固体レーザと容易に一体化することができない。赤外線領域のより長い波長、特に1550nmの通信波長では、利用可能な色素媒体は可視光により損傷しやすいので、このような材料を取り扱うのがさらに困難になる。
(a) 光パルスを複数回往復させて光パルスを蓄積することができる光共振器または閉光学通路であって、1つ以上の利得媒体を備え、往復光路長が選択した基本繰り返し周波数となるように選択されてなる、1つ以上の光共振器、または、1つの閉光学通路と;
(b) 1つ以上の励起光源と;
(c) 前記選択した動作波長または波長領域で光学利得が得られるように、前記励起光源からの励起光を前記1つ以上の利得媒体に結合させるための1つ以上の光カプラと;
(d) 前記光共振器または前記閉光学通路と光学的に結合し、前記励起光を入射して光パルスを生成する、1つ以上の可飽和吸収体素子と;
(e) 生成した光パルスを当該レーザから外へ取り出す、1つ以上の光カプラと;
を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子の少なくとも1つが、カーボンナノチューブを有し、
カーボンナノチューブを有する前記可飽和吸収体素子が、モードロッカーであり、かつ、自己始動または自己起動素子であり、
当該レーザから外へ取り出す光パルスがフェムト秒光パルスである、レーザが提供される。
本発明のレーザ構成は、利得媒体(または利得キャビティ)を含む共振器と、利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、非線形光学デバイス、特に共振器からの光が光結合できるカーボンナノチューブを備える可飽和吸収体とを備える。非線形光学デバイスは、レーザ発振波長で強度依存吸収を行う。モード同期とQスイッチングの両方またはいずれか一方により、このようなレーザ構成内で、励起ビームの光パワーとカーボンナノチューブ層の焦光点領域の場所に応じて、光パルスを生成することができる。
可飽和吸収体は、単層(SWNT)、多層(MWNT)、または両方のタイプのカーボンナノチューブを有したその混合であるカーボンナノチューブを備える。好ましい実施形態において、可飽和吸収体は、SWNTかSWNTとMWNTの混合であるカーボンナノチューブを備える。ひとつの好ましい可飽和吸収体デバイスでは、カーボンナノチューブの層、膜、またはコーティングが基板の一方の面に設けられる。基板の他方の面に、反射防止(AR)コーティング、バンドパスフィルタ、または非全反射のミラーを選択的に設けることができる。可飽和吸収体デバイスのその他の構成において、カーボンナノチューブを2つの基板の対向する内面間の層として設けることができる。基板の外面には、ARコーティング、バンドパスフィルタ、または非全反射のミラーを設けてもよい。
さらに、本発明によれば、モード同期、Qスイッチレーザまたは本発明のモード同期とQスイッチングを組み合わせた混成レーザを用いて、レーザ光パルス(光パルス)を生成するための方法が提供される。この方法は、カーボンナノチューブを備えるモードロッカーまたはQスイッチャーを設ける工程を有する。モードロッカーまたはQスイッチャーは、レーザ構成内で共振器と光結合する。当該技術で公知の任意のレーザ構成を用いることができ、特にレーザはリングレーザ、ファブリペロー(FP)リニア共振器構成レーザ、シグマ構成レーザ、または衝突パルスモード同期(CPM)構成レーザのいずれかであればよい。この方法はさらに、レーザ構成内でレーザの共振器に光結合する、カーボンナノチューブを有さない1つ以上の非線形光学材料または可飽和吸収体を設ける工程を有する。本発明の素子、デバイス、およびレーザを、短光パルスを生成するためにレーザを受動モード同期するための方法にも用いることができる。本発明によれば、(様々な所望の波長で、ただし好ましくは光通信に効果的な波長領域で)長さが<5ピコ秒、<2ピコ秒、<1ピコ秒、<500フェムト秒、<100フェムト秒、<50フェムト秒、または<10フェムト秒の短光パルスを生成するデバイスと方法が提供される。
また、本発明によれば、以下のレーザが提供される。
(i) 利得媒体を含む共振器と、
前記利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、
前記共振器と光学的に結合し、カーボンナノチューブを含んだ可飽和吸収体素子と、を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子がモードロッカーであり、前記カーボンナノチューブの直径が0.6nmから2nmである、フェムト秒光パルスレーザ。
(ii) 利得媒体を含む共振器と、
前記利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、
前記共振器と、光学的に結合し、カーボンナノチューブを含んだ可飽和吸収体素子と、を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子がモードロッカーであり、
前記可飽和吸収体素子は、単層カーボンナノチューブまたは単層カーボンナノチューブと多層カーボンナノチューブとの混合を含有する、フェムト秒光パルスレーザ。
(iii) 利得媒体を含む共振器と、
前記利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、
前記共振器と、光学的に結合し、カーボンナノチューブを含んだ可飽和吸収体素子と、を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子がモードロッカーであり、
前記可飽和吸収体素子は、1.2μmから2.0μmまでの波長領域の光を吸収する、フェムト秒光パルスレーザ。
図3は、図1に示す構成のレーザから生成される3dBスペクトルの幅が3.7nmである光パルスの光スペクトル測定値を示すものである。
図4は、図1に示す構成のレーザから生成される基本パルス繰返しが6.1MHzであるモード同期光パルスのサンプリングオシロスコープのトレースを示すものである。
、図1に示す構成のレーザから生成される繰返しが12.2MHzで動作する第二高調波のモードロック光パルスのサンプリングオシロスコープのトレースを図5に示す。
図7は、図1にかかるレーザから生成される、Qスイッチング領域で動作するQスイッチパルスのサンプリングオシロスコープスペクトルの測定値を示すものである。
図8は、本発明の第2の実施例にかかる、リニア共振器キャビティ内の、カーボンナノチューブ可飽和吸収体を用いた受動モード同期光パルスレーザの構成を示すものであり、第1の実施例同様、能動ファイバ(増幅器)と励起レーザの一例が示されており、一つの構成例におけるFCとPCコネクタおよび溶着接続点が示されている。
図10は、3dBスペクトルの幅が13.66nmである場合の、図8にかかるレーザから生成されるモード同期光パルスの光スペクトルの測定値を示すものである。
図12-A乃至12-Cは、リングレーザ構成を示すもので、図12-Aは一方向リング構成を示す。図12-Bは、双方向リング構成と衝突パルスモード同期(CPM)の応用を示す。図12-Cは、混成モード同期を有した一方向リング構成を示す。
図13-A乃至13-Eはリニアレーザ構成の一例を示すもので、図13-Aは、フィルタがミラーから分離しているリニア構成を示し、図13-Bは、図13-Aの構成に対応した混成モード同期線形構成を示し、図13-Cは、フィルタとミラーとしての反射ミラーを有したリニア構成を示し、図13-Dは、単一素子としてのCNT可飽和吸収体と反射ミラーを有したリニアレーザ構成を示し、図13-Eは、単一光素子内に反射ミラー、フィルター、およびCNT可飽和吸収体層を組み合わせたリニアレーザ構成を示し、図13-C乃至13-Eの構成は、図13-Bに示すように、変調器を図示の構成に光結合させることにより、混成モード同期構成で実施可能である。ゲインと書かれた素子は、適切な波長放射で励起する共振器または増幅器などの増幅したレーザ光源を表し、図13-A乃至13-Eに示すハーフミラーは、たとえば反射率が99%未満のミラーなど、全反射でないミラーであればよい。
図15-A乃至15-Cは、本発明の別のレーザ構成を示すものであり、図15-A乃至15-Cは可飽和吸収体素子の配置が異なる、3つの異なるシグマ自由空間レーザ構成を示している。
図17-R乃至17-Tは、別の可飽和吸収体モードロッカー構成を示すものである。図17-Rは、CNT層が基板上に設けられた基本構成である。図17-S乃至17-Tは、複雑な可飽和吸収体ミラー(SAM)構成である。図17-Sおよび17-Tのデバイス構成は、図17-U乃至17-Zのすべてのレーザ構成で利用可能である。
図19-Cと19-Dは、CNTを備えるファイバフェルールエタロンデバイスを示すものである。
図19-Eと19-Fは、空洞長が調整可能であり、ミラー間の距離はファイバフェルールの少なくともひとつを移動させることにより調整可能である(すなわちピエゾモータを有したファイバフェルールエタロンデバイスを示すものである。
図19-gと19-Hは、ファイバフェルール端部が一定の距離である、別のファイバフェルールを示すものである。このデバイスは、レンズ構成を介して自由空間結合を利用する。
図21は、MINT損失(dB)と閾値電流(mA)を関連づけたグラフであり、モード同期とQスイッチングを行うためのレーザパルス閾値と動作領域を示している。
カーボンナノチューブは「グラファイトウィスカーズ」、「フィラメントカーボン」、「グラファイトファイバ」、「極細カーボンチューブ」、「カーボンチューブ」、「カーボンファイバ」、「カーボンマイクロチューブ」、または「カーボンナノファイバ」とも呼ばれることがある。ここに挙げた名称や当該技術で用いられるその他の名称のいずれかで示され、カーボンナノチューブと現在呼ばれる材料の構造と特性を有する材料はすべて、ここで用いる「カーボンナノチューブ」という用語に包含されるものである。
CNTの可飽和吸収特性は、パルス動作の開始(自己起動する)と、レーザのモード同期の一部を補助する。
さらなる測定により、チャープは最大7mのSMFの分散と等価であることが示されている。(出力ファイバピグテールは最大5mのSMFの長さであると推察される。)出力部で低分散ファイバを用いることによって、パルス内のチャープを減少させることができる。その他の選択肢としては、異なる出力端を用いる、無チャープのフーリエ変換限界パルスを生成するように外部分散補償を利用するなどがある。
カーボンナノチューブの薄膜、好ましくは約10ミクロンメートル以下、より好ましくは1ミクロンメートル以下の厚さの薄膜において、励起子吸収を行うよう設計されたCNTについてその波長で光のための吸収中心として利用可能なCNTの数には限りがあると言われており、したがって吸収は可飽和である。しかしながら、より一般的には、使用可能なカーボンナノチューブのある層の厚さはある用途で得られるようにと所望される吸収レベルに依存する。使用される1つの層、膜、またはコーティング内でのCNT濃度あるいは密度は、1%から99%までの有効光吸収を行うのに十分なものであることが好ましい。
CNT層上のある焦点位置にある図1に示すレーザは、高い励起パワー(100mW)で励起される場合でもモード同期領域で常に動作する。しかし、CNT層上の焦点位置が別の位置に変化すると、吸収が大きくなり、レーザは受動Qスイッチング領域でも動作できるようになる。これは、基板上のCNT層が一定の厚さで蒸着されていないことによる。基板上の焦点位置に応じて、CNT層の様々な厚さの異なる領域を選択することができる。Qスイッチ領域では、ビームは実際にCNT層の端部近くに合焦する。端部では厚さがより不均一になると思われる。この領域での線形透過損失の測定値は0.5dBで、これはモード同期領域での線形透過損失よりも高い。(コバルトやニッケルなどのわずかな量の転移金属触媒の不純物がQスイッチング効果をもたらす補助剤として機能する場合もある。)
トレースしたものであり、図7はその出力スペクトルを示すものである。Qスイッチングを達成するための閾値は、75mWより高い励起パワーである。それより励起パワーが低いと、レーザはモード同期動作に復帰する。励起パワーに応じて、Qスイッチパルスの繰返しが(75mWから95mWまでの励起パワーを関数として)34.55キロヘルツ(kHz)から37.45kHzにわずかに変動する。対応するパルス幅も5.32ミクロン秒から4.04ミクロン秒に同様に変動し、平均出力パワーは0.90dBmから2.10dBmに変動する。
非線形光学特性と可飽和吸収体特性の両方またはいずれか一方を有するデバイス、特にモード同期に用いられるデバイスは、たとえば基板にコーティングされるか塗布されたSWNT膜、あるいはSWNTとMWNTを組み合わせた膜などのカーボンナノチューブの層に基づいて製造できる。基板は、透明基板、不透明基板、または透明な部分と不透明な部分を含有するものであればよい。基板の裏側には薄膜層をコーティングして、AR(反射防止)コーティング、バンドパスフィルタ、あるいはハーフミラーを形成することもできる。図17-A乃至17-Zは、非線形光学特性と可飽和吸収体特性の両方またはいずれか一方を備えた応用デバイスを示したものである。
図17-G乃至17-Iは、バンドパスフィルタ、ミラー、バンドパスフィルタとミラー、および平面可飽和吸収体の機能を有する1パス/非キャビティ構造を示すものである。これらの構造では、ピークパワーは高いと仮定されるので、光を収束する必要もなく、あるいは(コリメータレンズの出力のように)平行を保つ必要もない。収束用にさらに別のレンズも必要としない。
図17-Sと17-Tは、CNT層を用いた可飽和吸収体ミラー(SAM)を示すものである。これらの構造を用いた構成は、図17-U乃至17-Zに示されている。
図17-AA乃至17-ADは、可飽和吸収体のグレーティング構成を示すものである。これらの構成は、低ピークパワー構成や高ピークパワー構成に取り入れることができる(具体的には図示しない)。
可飽和吸収体層をグレーティングとフィルタの両方またはいずれか一方と組み合わせた図に示したデバイス構成は、レーザ構成に用いたり、光学用途に一般的に用いることができる。
図18-Fと18-Gも、レンズ構造を介した導波路内への光結合を示すものである。(図18-Fの)構成では、利得と可飽和吸収の両方を実現するが、利得部は可飽和部から分離されている。(図18-Gの)構造は、ダイクロイックミラーを介した励起を利用するレーザキャビティとして機能するが、利得部は可飽和部から分離されている。
図18-H乃至18-Jは、光ファイバと導波路の直接的な光結合を示すものである。(図18-Hの)構成は、可飽和吸収体としてのみ機能する。(図18-Iの)構成は、利得と可飽和吸収の両方を実現する。(図18-Jの)構成は、ダイクロイックミラーを介した励起を利用するレーザキャビティとして機能する。
図18-Kと18-Lは、レンズ構造を介した導波路内への光結合を示すものである。(図18-Kの)構成は、利得と可飽和吸収の両方を実現するが、利得部は可飽和部から分離されている。(図18-Lの)構成は、ダイクロイックミラーを介した励起を利用するレーザ空洞として機能するが、利得部は可飽和部から分離されている。
ここで図示されている可飽和吸収体素子とデバイス、モード同期素子とデバイス、レーザ構成と導波路およびFBG構成は、本明細書およびここで示す光学素子の組み合わせと形成について当該技術で公知の事項を参照すれば容易に実施することができる。CNT可飽和吸収体あるいは非線形光学材料を、存在するCNTの量が可飽和吸収または非線形光学効果を観察するのに十分な層内に設けることができる。CNTの種類(たとえばカーボンナノチューブの直径)を選択して、所望の波長または波長領域で吸収を行えるようにすることができる。層内に存在するCNTの量を調節して、所望の光学応答を得ることができる。
通常、異なる方法(たとえばHiPco、レーザアブレーション、アルコールCCVD)で製造され、異なる方法(吹き付けか蒸着)で基板に塗布されるSWNTは、異なる基板に塗布され、異なる基板構成で使用される場合同様、レーザモード同期に効果的である。異なる方法で製造されるSWNTサンプルとSWNT層により、異なる動作波長を有するサンプルが得られる。あるMINTにおいて、吸収レベルをCNT(より具体的にはSWNTかMWNT)密度(すなわち層内のCNT/層材料の単位容量比)と、層の厚さで制御することができる。さらに、異なる種類のSWNT(たとえば直径が異なるSWNT)を層内に混合するか複数の層(たとえば各層は異なるSWNT、たとえば直径の異なるSWNTを含有する)を用いることにより、動作波長領域の異なるMINT素子またはデバイスを形成することができる。また、このようなCNTと層の組み合わせを用いて、より広いまたはより狭い動作波長領域、特に約800nmから2000nmの間の範囲かその副領域を示すMINT素子あるいはデバイスを形成することができる。さらに、約800nmから約2000nmまでをカバーする広い動作領域を有するMINT素子あるいはデバイスを、このようなCNTと層の組み合わせを用いて形成することができる。
実施例1:非線形光学材料と可飽和吸収体材料の両方またはいずれか一方として用いられるカーボンナノチューブ(CNT)を準備する。
CNTは、HiPCo、CVD、レーザ−オーブン/アブレーション、アーク放電技術などの任意の手段により合成することができる。ここでの特定の実施例では、CNTはレーザアブレーションで形成される。アルゴンガス流500トルで、1250℃に熱したオーブンに入れられた、ニッケルとコバルトをそれぞれ0.45原子%だけ含有する対象のグラファイトロッドを、1パルス当たり、300ミリジュールを超えるエネルギーでNd:YAGパルスレーザの第二高調波を用いてアブレーションにかけた。温度が3000℃を超えるカーボンロッドの剥離噴出した領域では、蒸着したカーボン原子がNi/Co成長触媒の助けを借りて凝縮し、CNTを形成する。レーザアブレーションの後、サンプルを高真空度で(約120℃以上の温度に)加熱し、不純物と共にフラーレンなどの物質を蒸発除去する。次に、サンプルをトルエンで洗浄し細かいメッシュでろ過する。さらに、サンプルをエタノールで洗浄し、かつ分散させてメッシュでろ過する。サンプルを、純水と混合分散させ、過酸化水素を添加して過酸化水素が体積比15%の溶液を得て、再計算容器内で3時間100℃に加熱して、非晶質カーボンを取り除き、その後メッシュでろ過する。サンプルは希釈弱酸HCl溶液で洗浄し、CoとNi金属粒子を取り除き、その後メッシュでろ過し、塩基(弱水酸化ナトリウム溶液)で洗浄し、酸を中性化して、その前の酸による洗浄とメッシュろ過からのその他の副産物を除去した。最後に、サンプルを真空で1時間、650℃まで加熱してすべての溶媒を除去する。サンプルを室温で冷却する。ごくわずかの金属触媒不純物を含有し、90%を超える純度のCNTサンプルが、上記の処理後に得られる。
図に示すように基板上のCNTの層、膜、またはコーティングを得るために様々な方法が適用できる。たとえば、CNT粉末のサンプルを任意のアルコール、望ましくはエタノールなどの揮発性アルコールと混ぜ合わせ、基板に吹き付ける。
CNTを含有する層は、CNT粉末をUVエポキシなでの接着剤や糊と混ぜ合わせることによっても準備することができる。接着剤としては、所望の動作波長で透過性を有し、融点が低いものが好ましい。同様にして、CNTの層はポリイミドなどのポリマまたはプラスチック内で形成することができる。ポリイミドなどのポリマを用いて基板上または基板の間にCNT層を形成することができる。層、膜、またはコーティングに添加されるCNT量は、ある用途についてどれだけの吸収が望まれるかによって変化する。CNT粉末を光ファイバに導入することも可能である。たとえば、CNTをポリマ溶液に混合して、加熱され、ファイバ状に引き伸ばし成形する。光ファイバを形成するのに利用可能ないずれのプラスチックまたはポリマも用いることができる。CNTの添加量は、ある用途ついてどれだけの吸収が望まれるかによって変化する。CNT組成物(たとえばCNT含有ポリマ)を穴あきファイバかフォトニック結晶ファイバ内に挿入することができる、たとえばCNT材料はファイバ内の穴か空洞に挿入されるかファイバ内の空気間隙に導入する。
当業者であれば、ここで具体的に説明した材料、方法、およびデバイス以外の材料、方法、およびデバイスを不適切な実験によることなく本発明の実施の範囲内で利用可能であることを理解するであろう。当業者であれば、具体的に説明した材料、方法、およびデバイスには当該技術で公知の等価物があることを理解するであろう。このような当該技術で認められた等価物も本発明に包含されるものである。

Claims (25)
- 選択した動作波長または波長領域でかつ選択した基本繰り返し周波数で光パルスを生成するレーザであって、
(a) 光パルスを複数回往復させて光パルスを蓄積することができる光共振器または閉光学通路であって、1つ以上の利得媒体を備え、往復光路長が選択した基本繰り返し周波数となるように選択されてなる、1つ以上の光共振器、または、1つの閉光学通路と;
(b) 1つ以上の励起光源と;
(c) 前記選択した動作波長または波長領域で光学利得が得られるように、前記励起光源からの励起光を前記1つ以上の利得媒体に結合させるための1つ以上の光カプラと;
(d) 前記光共振器または前記閉光学通路と光学的に結合し、前記光共振器または前記閉光学通路からの出力光を吸収する、1つ以上の可飽和吸収体素子と;
(e) 生成した光パルスを当該レーザから外へ取り出す、1つ以上の光カプラと;
を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子の少なくとも1つが、カーボンナノチューブを有し、
カーボンナノチューブを有する前記可飽和吸収体素子が、モードロッカーであり、かつ、自己始動または自己起動素子であり、
当該レーザから外へ取り出す前記光パルスがフェムト秒光パルスである、レーザ。 - 前記光共振器または前記閉光学通路と光学的に結合した波長調整素子をさらに備える、請求項1に記載のレーザ。
- 前記波長調整素子は、前記光共振器のうちの1つ、または、前記閉光学通路内に配置される、請求項2に記載のレーザ。
- カーボンナノチューブを有する前記可飽和吸収体素子は、前記光共振器のうちの1つ、または、前記閉光学通路内に配置される、請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載のレーザ。
- 光パルスを生成するために前記可飽和吸収体素子と協働する能動モード同期デバイスをさらに備え、混成モード同期構成をとる、請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載のレーザ。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブは単層カーボンナノチューブ(SWNT)である、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載のレーザ。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブを含む前記可飽和吸収体素子がQスポイラとして用いられることを特徴とする受動Qスイッチングレーザである、請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載のレーザ。
- カーボンナノチューブを含む前記可飽和吸収体素子は、カーボンナノチューブ層が形成された基板を備え、当該基板表面において、前記カーボンナノチューブ層の厚みが不均一に形成されている、請求項7に記載のレーザ。
- 前記基板表面に設けられた前記カーボンナノチューブ層のうち、前記カーボンナノチューブ層の端部の厚みがより不均一に形成されており、前記カーボンナノチューブ層の前記端部がQスイッチング機能を有する、請求項8に記載のレーザ。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブ層がコバルトまたはニッケルを含む、請求項7に記載のレーザ。
- カーボンナノチューブの直径は、レーザの動作波長領域内でエキシトン吸収特性が示されるよう選択される、請求項1乃至10のいずれか一項に記載のレーザ。
- カーボンナノチューブを有する1つ以上の層を備え、前記カーボンナノチューブが可飽和吸収特性を有し、フェムト秒モード同期レーザに用いられる、レーザモード同期素子。
- カーボンナノチューブはSWNTである、請求項12に記載の素子。
- カーボンナノチューブの直径は所望の動作波長領域内で吸収を行うように選択される、請求項12または13に記載の素子。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブを有する複数の層を備え、各層に含まれる前記カーボンナノチューブの直径が互いに異なる、請求項14に記載の素子。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブを有する層が反射型可飽和吸収体または透過型可飽和吸収体として機能する、請求項12乃至15のいずれか一項に記載の素子。
- カーボンナノチューブ層が基板表面に設けられている、請求項12乃至16のいずれか一項に記載の素子。
- 前記基板表面に設けられた前記カーボンナノチューブ層の端部の厚みがより不均一に形成されており、
前記カーボンナノチューブ層の前記端部がQスイッチング機能を有する、請求項17に記載の素子。 - 基板の他方の面にはAR(反射防止)コーティング、バンドパスフィルタ、またはハーフミラーが設けられる、請求項17または18に記載の素子。
- 請求項12乃至19のいずれか一項に記載の素子を備える、パルスレーザ。
- レーザで光パルスを生成するための方法であって、モードロッカーをレーザの共振器に光結合させる工程と、生成した光パルスを当該レーザから出力させる工程と、を含み、前記モードロッカーが可飽和吸収特性を有するカーボンナノチューブであり、生成した光パルスを当該レーザから出力させる前記工程において、フェムト秒光パルスを出力させる、方法。
- レーザで光パルスを生成するための方法であって、請求項7乃至10のいずれか一項に記載のレーザをQスイッチングする工程と、生成した光パルスを当該レーザから出力させる工程と、を含み、生成した光パルスを当該レーザから出力させる前記工程において、フェムト秒光パルスを出力させる、方法。
- 利得媒体を含む共振器と、
前記利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、
前記共振器と光学的に結合し、カーボンナノチューブを含んだ可飽和吸収体素子と、を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子がモードロッカーであり、前記カーボンナノチューブの直径が0.6nmから2nmである、フェムト秒光パルスレーザ。 - 利得媒体を含む共振器と、
前記利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、
前記共振器と、光学的に結合し、カーボンナノチューブを含んだ可飽和吸収体素子と、を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子がモードロッカーであり、
前記可飽和吸収体素子は、単層カーボンナノチューブまたは単層カーボンナノチューブと多層カーボンナノチューブとの混合を含有する、フェムト秒光パルスレーザ。 - 利得媒体を含む共振器と、
前記利得媒体内で光学利得を生成するような励起源と、
前記共振器と、光学的に結合し、カーボンナノチューブを含んだ可飽和吸収体素子と、を備え、
前記可飽和吸収体素子がモードロッカーであり、
前記可飽和吸収体素子は、1.2μmから2.0μmまでの波長領域の光を吸収する、フェムト秒光パルスレーザ。
