本発明の排ガス浄化用触媒は、各触媒層のそれぞれは、Pt及びPdから選ばれる少なくとも1種が同じ担持量で担持されていることが好ましい。
本発明の排ガス浄化用触媒は、二輪車用排ガス浄化用触媒であることが好ましい。
すなわち、本発明の排ガス浄化用触媒は、金属製の外筒内に二つ以上の金属製のハニカム担体を固定し、各ハニカム担体の表面に担持層を設け、その後、各ハニカム担体の各担持層に触媒金属を担持してなり、最上流触媒層は、触媒金属のうちRhを複数回担持してなることが好ましい。
また、本発明の排ガス浄化用触媒は、各担持層への触媒金属の担持は、各担持層を、触媒金属の溶液に浸漬して行われることが好ましい。
まず、ステンレス(SUS436L)よりなる板厚1.5mm、内径50.5mm、外径53.5mm、の円管状のパイプを軸方向の長さ140mmの長さで切断して外筒を作成した。
実施例1で用いられたものと同じ材質および大きさの部材を用いて実施例1と同じ製造方法で、上流側および下流側の二つのハニカム担体を外筒の内部にロウ付け固定し、二つのハニカム担体のそれぞれの表面上に担持層を形成した。

Claims (5)
- 金属製の外筒と、
該外筒の内部に間隔を隔てた状態で固定された二つ以上の金属製のハニカム担体と、
該ハニカム担体の表面にもうけられた担持層と、該担持層に担持された触媒金属と、からなり、各該ハニカム担体のそれぞれの表面に形成された触媒層と、
を有する排ガス浄化用触媒において、
該触媒金属は、Rhと、Pt及びPdから選ばれる少なくとも1種と、からなり、
二つ以上の該ハニカム担体のうち排気ガスの流れ方向の最上流に位置する最上流ハニカム担体にもうけられた最上流触媒層は、0.8g/L以上でRhを担持し、
各該触媒層中の、Pt及びPdから選ばれる少なくとも1種の担持量に対するRh担持量の比が、該最上流触媒層以外の触媒層よりも該最上流触媒層で大きくなっていることを特徴とする排ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記最上流ハニカム担体と隣接して配置された下流側ハニカム担体の長さが該最上流ハニカム担体より長い請求項1記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
- 金属製の外筒内に二つ以上の金属製のハニカム担体を固定し、各該ハニカム担体の表面に担持層を設け、その後、各該ハニカム担体の各該担持層に触媒金属を担持してなり、
該最上流触媒層は、該触媒金属のうちRhを複数回担持してなる請求項1乃至2の何れかに記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。 - 二輪車用排ガス浄化用触媒である請求項1乃至3の何れかに記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
- 各前記触媒層のそれぞれは、Pt及びPdから選ばれる少なくとも1種が同じ担持量で担持されている請求項1乃至4の何れかに記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
