Description
内燃機関は、エンジン性能を改良しまたは排ガスを低減させるために、クランクシャフトに対するカムシャフトの角度を位相調整する種々の機構を採用してきた。このような機構の一つは、可変カムシャフトタイミング(VCT)機構である。
上記流体が作動流体であるということが注目されるべきである。作動流体は、ベーン位相器内でベーンを移動させる流体のことである。典型的には、作動流体はエンジンオイルを含んでいるが、これとは別個の作動流体である。

Claims (7)
- カムシャフトとクランクシャフトとの間、または加圧流体を使用する他のシャフトとの間の角度関係を調整して維持するための可変カムシャフトタイミング(VCT)機構であって、角度関係を調整して維持するために、流体源から流体排出口まで流れる加圧流体を使用する位相器を有しており、
前記VCT機構は、
(i)凹部(12)と係合するように設けられたロックピン(11)を備え、
凹部(12)内には加圧流体が流入してロックピン(11)が凹部(12)から係合解除するように許容されており、
(ii)当該VCT機構における各シャフト間の角度関係を調整して維持するように加圧流体の流れを制御するスプール(22)を有する単一のスプールバルブを備え、
スプール(22)には第1のランド(18)が設けられており、第1のランド(18)は、ロックピン(11)が係脱する凹部(12)に向かって流体源から流れるとともに、ロックピン(11)が係脱する凹部(12)から流体排出口に向かって流れる加圧流体のタイミング、ならびにロックピン(11)のロックおよびロック解除を制御するように配置されており、
(iii)内部に流体が流れるように配置された一組の通路(8,9,10,15,16,23)を備え、
前記一組の通路が、
(a)内部に流体が流れるように配置されるとともに、流体源と流体連絡する第1の端部を有し、第1の端部と流体連絡するように配置された第2の端部を有する第1の通路(15)と、
(b)内部に流体が流れるように配置されるとともに、第1の通路(15)の第2の端部と流体連絡するように配置された第1の端部を有し、凹部(12)と流体連絡する第2の端部を有する第2の通路(23)と、
(c)内部に流体が流れるように配置されるとともに、第2の通路(23)の第1の端部と流体連絡するように配置された第1の端部を有し、流体排出口と流体連絡する第2の端部を有する第3の通路(16)と、
を有している、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。 - 請求項1において、
スプールバルブが、第2の通路(23)の第1の端部と第1の通路(15)の第2の端部との間の流体連絡を制御するように設けられている、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。 - 請求項1において、
スプールバルブが、第2の通路(23)の第1の端部と第3の通路(16)の第1の端部との間の流体連絡を制御するように設けられている、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。 - 請求項1において、
スプールバルブが、位相器の内部に配置される中央取付けのスプールバルブである、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。 - 請求項1において、
前記他のシャフトがカムシャフトまたはクランクシャフトである、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。 - 請求項1において、
前記一組の通路が、位相器のアドバンスチャンバまたはリタードチャンバに流体連絡するように配置されている、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。 - 請求項1において、
前記VCT機構がカムトルク駆動(CTA)型のVCTシステムである、
ことを特徴とするVCT機構。
