Claims (8)
- HCを酸化する能力を有すると共にHCを保持したり該保持したHCを放出したりする能力をも有し、HCを酸化する量よりも保持したHCを放出する量のほうが多くなる特定の条件が存在するHC触媒を具備し、特定の目的で該HC触媒にHCを供給するHC供給制御を実行する内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、上記HC供給制御を実行したときに上記特定の条件が成立した場合には該HC供給制御によってHC触媒に供給するHC量を少なくするか或いは該HC供給制御を中止することを特徴とする排気浄化装置。
- 上記特定の条件がHC触媒が保持している総HC量が所定量よりも多く且つHC触媒の温度上昇率と内燃機関に吸入される空気量の増大率と内燃機関の燃焼室に供給される燃料量の増大率とアクセルペダル踏込量の増大率との少なくとも1つが所定値よりも大きいことである請求項1に記載の排気浄化装置。
- HCを酸化する能力を有し、HCを酸化するのに要する時間よりもHCが留まる時間のほうが短くなる特定の条件が存在するHC触媒を具備し、特定の目的で該HC触媒にHCを供給するHC供給制御を実行する内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、上記HC供給制御を実行したときに上記特定の条件が成立した場合には該HC供給制御によってHC触媒に供給するHC量を少なくするか或いは該HC供給制御を中止することを特徴とする排気浄化装置。
- 上記特定の条件がHC触媒が保持している総HC量が所定量よりも多く且つHC触媒を通過する排気ガス量とその増大率と内燃機関の燃焼室に吸入される空気量とその増大率とアクセルペダル踏込量とその増大率との少なくとも1つが所定値よりも大きいことである請求項1または3に記載の排気浄化装置。
- 流入する排気ガスの空燃比がリーンであるときにはNOxを保持し、流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比またはリッチとなると保持しているNOxを還元するNOx触媒を上記HC触媒下流に具備し、上記特定の目的が該NOx触媒に理論空燃比またはリッチの排気ガスを流入させることであることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
- 流入する排気ガスの空燃比がリーンであるときにはNOxを保持し、流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比またはリッチとなると保持しているNOxを還元するNOx触媒を上記HC触媒下流に具備し、上記特定の目的が上記HC触媒の温度を上昇させると共に上記NOx触媒に理論空燃比またはリッチの排気ガスを流入させることであり、上記HC触媒の温度を上昇させるために上記HC供給制御を実行するときには該HC触媒の温度上昇率が所定値よりも小さく維持されるように上記HC供給制御によってHC触媒に供給するHC量を制御することを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
- 上記特定の目的が上記HC触媒の温度を上昇させることであり、該特定の目的でもって上記HC供給制御を実行するときには該HC触媒の温度上昇率が所定値よりも小さく維持されるように上記HC供給制御によってHC触媒に供給するHC量を制御することを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
- 上記特定の目的が内燃機関が始動されたときに上記HC触媒の温度を上昇させることであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の排気浄化装置。
