Description
この時、画素電極は、行列形態で配列されており、複数の信号線は、実質的に互いに平行し、行方向に伸びている複数のゲート線と、実質的に互いに平行し、列方向に伸びている複数のデータ線と、を含み、液晶表示装置は、データ線からの第1信号をゲート線からの第2信号に応答して画素電極に伝達する複数のスイッチング素子をさらに含む。
まず、図1乃至図6を参照して、本発明の実施例による液晶表示装置の概略的な構造について説明する。
透明なガラスなどの絶縁基板110上には、走査信号またはゲート信号を伝達するゲート配線が、形成されている。ゲート配線は、横方向に伸びている複数のゲート線121、これらに接続された複数のゲート電極123、及びゲート線121の一端に接続されたゲートパッド125を含む。
透明なガラスから好ましくはなる絶縁基板210上に、有機物質から好ましくはなるブラックマトリックス220が、形成されており、このブラックマトリックス220は、表示部5を囲んで定義する。ブラックマトリックス220は、ダミー画素領域DP内のダミー画素電極109と重なる。また、ブラックマトリックス220は、図示してはいないが、画素電極190間の境界部分を覆うことによって画素領域APを定義し、画素領域AP間で漏洩される光を遮断する。表示部5内の各画素領域APには、R(赤)、G(緑)、B(青)の色フィルター(図示せず)が形成されており、色フィルター及びブラックマトリックス220上には、透明な導電体などからなる共通電極230が基板210全面に渡って形成されている。そして色フィルター表示板2の最上層にも、配向膜292が形成されており、ラビング方向は、薄膜トランジスタ表示板1の配向膜290のラビング方向と同一である。
このような本発明の実施例では、ダミー画素電極109に電圧を印加するために、複数のダミーデータ線172及びこれと接続されているダミーパッドなど複数のダミー信号線を置く。このようなダミー信号線は、画素領域APにゲート信号またはデータ信号を印加するゲート線121、データ線171及びパッド125、179と同一な模様であり、同一な方法で作られることが好ましい。
Claims (6)
- 画面で表示されて複数の画素領域を有する表示部と、前記表示部外側に位置してダミー画素領域を有する周辺部と、を有する絶縁第1基板;
前記第1基板上に形成されている複数の信号線;及び
前記信号線と電気的に接続され、前記画素領域及び前記ダミー画素領域に配置される複数の画素電極であって、透明な導電物質からなる透明膜と反射度を有する導電物質からなる反射膜とを含む複数の画素電極;
を含み、
前記複数の画素電極のうちの前記ダミー画素領域に位置する前記画素電極の前記反射膜は、前記画素領域に位置する反射膜より広い面積を有する、液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板と対向する絶縁第2基板;及び
前記第2基板上に備えられているブラックマトリックス;
をさらに含み、
前記ブラックマトリックスは、前記複数の画素電極のうちの前記ダミー画素領域に位置する前記画素電極と重畳する、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2基板上に形成され、前記画素電極と対向する共通電極;
をさらに含み、
前記画素電極と前記共通電極に印加される信号が、極性反転信号である、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記画素電極は、行列形態で配列されており、
前記複数の信号線は、実質的に互いに平行していて、行方向に伸びている複数のゲート線と、実質的に互いに平行しており、列方向に伸びている複数のデータ線と、を含み、
前記液晶表示装置は、前記データ線からの第1信号を前記ゲート線からの第2信号に応答して前記画素電極に伝達する複数のスイッチング素子を、さらに含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記ダミー画素領域に位置する前記画素電極の前記反射膜は、前記ダミー画素領域に全面的に形成されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素領域に配置されている前記画素電極の反射膜は、前記透明膜を露出する開口部を有する、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
