Description
上述したように、本発明者らは、研究開発を重ねた結果、YAl3(BO3)4の結晶にガドリニウム(Gd)が添加された蛍光体に、スカンジウム(Sc)をアルミニウム(Al)のモル質量に対して所定のモル比で添加することにより、紫外光の発光特性に優位性が生じることを見出して、一般式(Y1-xGdx)Al3-yScy(BO3)4(0<x≦1,0<y≦3)で表されるガドリニウム付活希土類アルミニウム・スカンジウム硼酸塩から成る真空紫外光励起蛍光体を得るに至った。
蛍光体の原料として、Y2O3を1.66g、Gd2O3を0.889g、Al2O3を2.900g、Sc2O3を0.135g、B2O3を2.730g、それぞれ秤量し、これらを十分に均一に混合した後、アルミナ製のるつぼ内に充填し、大気中において500℃の温度で2時間予備焼成した。さらに、焼成温度を1100℃まで昇温させ、大気中で5時間焼成した後、これを徐冷して焼成物を得た。得られた焼成物に粉砕、洗浄、乾燥、篩別処理を行い、Y0.75Gd0.25Al2.9Sc0.1(BO3)4なる組成を有する、実施例1に係る真空紫外光励起紫外蛍光体を得た。
Y成分、Gd成分、Al成分、およびSc成分の比率を適宜変更し、実施例1と同じ条件で混合および焼成等の処理を行い、下記の表1に示すように、Y0.75Gd0.25Al2.5Sc0.5(BO3)4(実施例2)、Y0.75Gd0.25Al2.0Sc1.0(BO3)4(実施例3)、Y0.75Gd0.25Al1.5Sc1.5(BO3)4(実施例4)、Y0.75Gd0.25Al1.0Sc2.0(BO3)4(実施例5)、Y0.75Gd0.25Al0.5Sc2.5(BO3)4(実施例6)、Y0.75Gd0.25Al0.1Sc2.9(BO3)4(実施例7)、Y0.75Gd0.25Sc3(BO3)4(実施例8)、Y0.5Gd0.5Al1.5Sc1.5(BO3)4(実施例9)なる組成をそれぞれ有する真空紫外光励起紫外蛍光体を得た。
比較例1として、BaSi2O5:Pbからなる蛍光体を用意した。また、比較例2として、特許文献3に開示されているY0.75Gd0.25Al3(BO3)4で表わされるガドリニウム付活希土類アルミニウム硼酸塩から成る真空紫外光励起紫外蛍光体を用意した。

Claims (8)
- 一般式(Y1-xGdx)Al3-yScy(BO3)4(0<x≦1,0<y≦3)で表されるガドリニウム付活希土類アルミニウム・スカンジウム硼酸塩から成る真空紫外光励起蛍光体。
- 透光性気密容器と、該透光性気密容器内に封入された真空紫外光を放射する放電媒体と、放電用電極と、前記透光性気密容器の内側に形成された蛍光体層とを有する紫外発光蛍光ランプにおいて、
前記蛍光体層は、一般式(Y1-xGdx)Al3-yScy(BO3)4(0<x≦1,0<y≦3)で表されるガドリニウム付活希土類アルミニウム・スカンジウム硼酸塩から成る真空紫外光励起蛍光体を含んでいることを特徴とする紫外発光蛍光ランプ。 - 紫外発光蛍光ランプは冷陰極または熱陰極を有する蛍光ランプである、請求項2に記載の紫外発光蛍光ランプ。
- 紫外発光蛍光ランプは平面形の蛍光ランプである、請求項2に記載の紫外発光蛍光ランプ。
- 紫外発光蛍光ランプは外部電極型の蛍光ランプである、請求項2に記載の紫外発光蛍光ランプ。
- 前記放電媒体は希ガスである、請求項2から5のいずれか1項に記載の紫外発光蛍光ランプ。
- 前記希ガスはキセノンガスである、請求項6に記載の紫外発光蛍光ランプ。
- 前面ガラス基板と背面ガラス基板とを対向配置し、前記両ガラス基板間に形成された表示セル内で放電を生じさせ、前記表示セル内に形成された蛍光体層を発光させて表示を行うプラズマディスプレイパネルにおいて、
前記蛍光体層は、一般式(Y1-xGdx)Al3-yScy(BO3)4(0<x≦1,0<y≦3)で表されるガドリニウム付活希土類アルミニウム・スカンジウム硼酸塩から成る真空紫外光励起蛍光体を含んでいることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネル。
