Description
本願は、“頑強な高反射性導波管コーティング(Robust Highly Reflective Waveguide Coatings)”について2001年1月29日に出願した仮出願(代理人文書番号H26702)に関連する。その関連仮出願は、本願と同じ発明者等及び共通の譲受人を有する。
パリレンの融点
いくつかのパリレンポリマー被覆はマサチューセッツ州アットレボロのパラトロニックス社によってシリコーンゴムキーパッド表面に施された。キーパッド試料には、非被覆キーパッド、非アニ−ル被覆キーパッド、およびアニ−ル被覆キーパッドが含まれる。アニ−リングはタングステン発熱体を用いる高温減圧炉中で行った。減圧は拡散ポンプによって維持され、一般に10-6〜10-5トルである。キーパッド試料に制御サーモカップルを押し付けた。以下のキーパッド試料を次のようにアニ−ルした:
・ 非被覆およびパリレンN−被覆キーパッドを、2時間加熱ランプを用いて、140℃の温度に48時間さらした;
・ 非被覆およびパリレンN−被覆キーパッドを、4時間加熱ランプを用いて、220℃の温度に48時間さらした;
・ 2つのパリレンC被覆キーパッドを、4時間加熱ランプを用いて、120℃の温度に90時間さらした;
・ 非被覆およびパリレンC被覆キーパッドを、2時間加熱ランプを用いて、140℃の温度に48時間さらした。
これらの結果は、パリレンN被覆のバリヤー性がアニ−リングによって改善されたことを示した。ガソリン吸収量は140℃で48時間のアニ−リングの後に1/3減少し、キーパッドがガソリン中で膨張した後の被覆付着性の明らかな減少はなかった。アニ−リン
グ温度を220℃に高めると、初期ガソリン吸収量より少し下のバリヤー性に低下した。キーパッド試料がガソリン中で最大限に膨張すると、パリレンポリマー被覆の目に見える亀裂が生じることも観察された。220℃のアニ−リング温度はまたシリコーンキーパッド材料にとって高すぎ、非被覆キーパッド試料は220℃で脆くなった。
Claims (8)
- 下地の弾性高分子基体を保護するためにバリヤーコーティングを表面に蒸着させる方法であって、
パリレンNの第1の層を、該弾性高分子基体のクリーンな表面部分上に化学蒸着により蒸着させる工程;
パリレンCの第2の層を、前記第1の層上に化学蒸着により蒸着させる工程;および
各層を、減圧下又は不活性雰囲気下、加熱することによってアニールする工程;
を含む方法。 - 前記アニールする工程が、80〜220℃のアニーリング温度で、12〜100時間、アニールすることを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アニ−リング温度が120℃であり、その時間が48時間である、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記弾性高分子基体の表面部分を汚れを除去するために処理する工程を更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記表面をパリレンNの蒸気相に曝すこと、
パリレンNの曝露を、前記第1の層の所望の厚みに達するとパリレンCの蒸気相に移行し、パリレンN及びパリレンCの混合物を含む勾配化層を形成し、ここで、前記第2の層を蒸着させる前記工程は、前記勾配化層を、パリレンNが存在しないパリレンCの蒸気相に曝して、前記勾配化層上に前記第2の層を形成すること、
をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記第1及び第2の層の間にパリレンNとパリレンCの勾配化層が形成されるように、前記弾性高分子基体上へのパリレンNの蒸着を徐々にパリレンCの蒸着に移行させる工程を更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記勾配化層が、0.00005〜0.0005インチの範囲の厚さを含む、請求項6に記載の方法。
- キーパッドであって、
弾性高分子基体;
前記弾性高分子基体の表面部分上の、パリレンNの第1の層;
前記第1の層上の、パリレンNとパリレンCとの勾配化層;および
前記勾配化層上の、パリレンCの層;
を含むキーパッド。
