Abstract
Description
上記スキン部の内側を区画し、上記スキン部と一体形成されたハニカム構造部(10)と、を有するセラミックハニカム構造体(1)であって、
上記ハニカム構造部は、多孔質の隔壁(12)と、該隔壁に囲まれて上記スキン部の軸方向(Y)に伸びる複数のセル(13)と、を有し、
上記スキン部と、該スキン部に隣接する上記セルである第1セル(13a)と、該第1セルに隣接するセルである第2セル(13b)とからなる外周領域(P)の熱膨張係数PCTEが、上記外周領域よりも内側にある中央領域(C)の熱膨張係数CCTEよりも大きい、セラミックハニカム構造体にある。
なお、特許請求の範囲及び課題を解決する手段に記載した括弧内の符号は、後述する実施形態に記載の具体的手段との対応関係を示すものであり、本発明の技術的範囲を限定するものではない。
セラミックハニカム構造体に係る実施形態について、図1〜図7を参照して説明する。図1〜図3に例示されるように、セラミックハニカム構造体1は、ハニカム構造部10とスキン部11とを有する。本実施形態では、後述の目封止部16を有するセラミックハニカム構造体1について説明する。このようなセラミックハニカム構造体1は、排ガス浄化フィルタとも呼ばれ、例えば排ガスG中のPMを捕集するために用いられる。PMは、粒子状物質、パティキュレートマター、パティキュレートなどと呼ばれる微小粒子である。
触媒層が形成されたセラミックハニカム構造体の実施形態について説明する。なお、実施形態2以降において用いた符号のうち、既出の実施形態において用いた符号と同一のものは、特に示さない限り、既出の実施形態におけるものと同様の構成要素等を表す。
本例では、PCTE/CCTEが異なる複数のセラミックハニカム構造体を作製し、耐熱衝撃性を比較評価する。まずは、実施形態1と同様に、坏土を作製し、成形、乾燥、焼成を行うことにより、スキン部11とハニカム構造部と目封止部16とを有するセラミックハニカム構造体を複数作製した。次いで、各セラミックハニカム構造体の外周領域Pに、実施形態1と同様にして埋設セラミック材123を埋設させて、表1に示す実施例1〜7のセラミックハニカム構造体1を得た。なお、埋設セラミック材123を埋設させていないセラミックハニカム構造体を比較例1とした。
実施例、比較例のセラミックハニカム構造体1から熱膨張係数の測定用のサンプルを以下のようにして採取した。測定サンプルは、図10(a)、図10(b)に例示されるように、中央領域Cの9箇所の位置、外周領域Pの9箇所の位置からそれぞれ採取した。なお、図10(a)は、図10(b)のXa−Xaの矢視断面図に相当する模式図であるが、隔壁の図示を省略し、中央領域Cと外周領域Pとを模式的に示している。
各測定サンプルについて、室温〜800℃間の熱膨張挙動を測定した。室温は25℃である。熱膨張挙動の測定には、熱機械分析装置(つまり、TMA)を用いた。TMAとしては、島津製作所製のTMA−60を用いた。測定に使用する標準サンプルには、石英を用いた。そして、室温から800℃までの熱膨張から熱膨張係数を求めた。熱膨張は、例えば測定サンプルの長さ方向(つまり、軸方向Y)の伸びとして計測される。測定は、中央領域Cから採取した9つの測定サンプル、外周領域Pから採取した9つの測定サンプルについて行った。中央領域Cの熱膨張係数CCTE、外周領域Pの熱膨張係数PCTEは、9つのサンプルの測定値の平均である。その結果を表1に示す。
排気管3内に配置したセラミックハニカム構造体1に、エンジンから排出される実際の排ガスGを流した(図6参照)。セラミックハニカム構造体1の第1端面14から10mm上流側の位置での排ガス温度を100℃以下の温度から1000℃まで2分間で急加熱させた。次いで、排ガス温度を2分間で100℃以下の温度まで急冷却させた。この急加熱と急冷却のサイクルを5回繰り返した後、セラミックハニカム構造体1を取り出した。目視にてセラミックハニカム構造体1の外観の割れの有無を確認した。その後、セラミックハニカム構造体1を第1端面14又は第2端面15から軸方向Yに長さ20mm毎に切断し、内部の割れの有無を目視にて確認した。外観及び内部に割れが観察されない場合を「合格」とし、外観及び内部の少なくとも一方に割れが観察された場合を「不合格」として評価した。その結果を表1に示す。

Claims (5)
- 筒状のスキン部(11)と、
上記スキン部の内側を区画し、上記スキン部と一体形成されたハニカム構造部(10)と、を有するセラミックハニカム構造体(1)であって、
上記ハニカム構造部は、多孔質の隔壁(12)と、該隔壁に囲まれて上記スキン部の軸方向(Y)に伸びる複数のセル(13)と、を有し、
上記スキン部と、該スキン部に隣接する上記セルである第1セル(13a)と、該第1セルに隣接する上記セルである第2セル(13b)とから構成される外周領域(P)の熱膨張係数PCTEが、上記外周領域よりも内側にある中央領域(C)の熱膨張係数CCTEよりも大きい、セラミックハニカム構造体。 - 上記スキン部及び上記外周領域内の上記隔壁の少なくとも一方は、埋設セラミック材(123)によって少なくとも部分的に埋設された細孔(121)及びマイクロクラック(122)の少なくとも一方を有する、請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム構造体。
- 上記埋設セラミック材が酸化物セラミックスである、請求項2に記載のセラミックハニカム構造体。
- 上記外周領域における熱膨張係数PCTEと、上記中央領域の熱膨張係数CCTEとが、1.0<PCTE/CCTE≦36の関係を満足する、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のセラミックハニカム構造体。
- さらに、上記セルの上記軸方向の両端(14、15)の少なくとも一方を封止する目封止部(16)を備える、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のセラミックハニカム構造体。
