Abstract
Description
まず、本発明の液晶装置として、TFT(Thin Film Transistor)をスイッチング素子として備えるアクティブマトリックス方式の透過型液晶装置を例に説明する。係る液晶装置は、後述する投射型表示装置の光変調装置、すなわちライトバルブとして好適に用いることができる。
1−1a.基本構成
図1は、第1実施形態に係る液晶装置の平面図である。図2は、図1に示す液晶装置の断面図であって、図1中のA1−A1線断面図である。なお、以下では、説明の便宜上、図1および図2のそれぞれに示す互いに直交するx軸、y軸、およびz軸を適宜用いて説明する。
図3は、図2に示す素子基板の電気的な構成を示す等価回路図である。図3に示すように、素子基板2には、n本の走査線261とm本のデータ線262とn本の容量線263とが形成される。ただし、nおよびmは2以上の整数である。n本の走査線261とm本のデータ線262との各交差に対応してスイッチング素子であるTFT260が配置される。また、n本の走査線261、m本のデータ線262およびn本の容量線263は、例えばアルミニウム等の金属で構成される。
次に、素子基板2の詳細な構成について説明する。図4は、図2に示す素子基板の拡大断面図である。図5は、図4に示す素子基板の平面図である。なお、図5では、配向膜29の図示を省略する。

Claims (9)
- 透光性の基材と、
前記基材よりも前記液晶側に位置する透光性の画素電極と、
前記基材と前記画素電極との間に配置される透光性の第1絶縁体と、
前記第1基板の厚さ方向からの平面視で前記第1絶縁体を囲み、前記第1絶縁体に接する透光性の第2絶縁体と、を備え、
前記第1絶縁体は、前記第2絶縁体の屈折率よりも高い屈折率を有する第1部分と、前記第1部分よりも前記基材側に位置し、前記第1部分の屈折率よりも低く、かつ前記第2絶縁体の屈折率よりも高い屈折率を有する第2部分と、を含むことを特徴とする液晶装置。 - 前記第1絶縁体と前記画素電極との間に配置される透光性の第3絶縁体を備え、

前記第2部分の前記窒素原子の含有率は、前記第1部分の前記窒素原子の含有率よりも低く、かつ前記第2絶縁体中の前記窒素原子の含有率よりも高い請求項1ないし7のいずれか1項に記載の液晶装置。 - 請求項1ないし8のいずれか1項に記載の液晶装置を備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
