Abstract
【解決手段】走査線駆動回路は、表示パネルの走査線を選択する選択信号GV3、GV4を出力する。データ電圧SV1の極性反転が行われた後のデータ電圧SV1が表示パネルのデータ線に供給される期間を、第1の期間TSDとし、データ電圧SV1の極性反転が行われなかった後のデータ電圧SV1がデータ線に供給される期間を、第2の期間TSCとする場合に、第1の期間TSDの開始から選択信号GV4をアクティブにするまでの期間TPDの方が、第2の期間TSCの開始から選択信号GV3をアクティブにするまでの期間TPCよりも長い。

Description
図1は、本実施形態の走査線駆動回路10と表示パネル40の接続構成例である。なお、以下では表示パネル40(画素アレイ)がデュアルゲート構造である場合を例に説明するが、これに限定されず、例えばトリプルゲート構造等の表示パネルにも本実施形態の駆動手法を適用できる。また図1には15×5画素の画素アレイを図示しているが、これに限定されず、p×q画素の画素アレイに本実施形態の駆動手法を適用できる。ここでp、qは3以上の整数である。
図3は、表示ドライバー100の動作を説明する第1のタイミングチャートである。なお、以下ではコモン電圧VCOMを変化させることでデータ電圧の極性を変化させる場合を例に説明するが、これに限定されず、コモン電圧VCOMを一定にしてデータ電圧の極性を変化させてもよい。即ち、データ電圧の極性はデータ線に出力されるデータ電圧とコモン電圧との間の相対的な関係であり、例えばデータ電圧>コモン電圧VCOMの場合が正極性であり、データ電圧<コモン電圧VCOMの場合が負極性である。
図5は、ダブルオン駆動を行う場合の表示ドライバー100の動作を説明するタイミングチャートである。図5には、図1の画素PG〜PJ、PA〜PDを駆動する際のタイミングチャートを示す。
図6は、トリプルゲート構造の表示パネル40の構成例である。なお図1には4×6画素の画素アレイを図示しているが、これに限定されず、s×t画素の画素アレイに本実施形態の駆動手法を適用できる。ここでs、tは2以上の整数である。
図1〜図5では、デュアルゲート構造の表示パネルにおいて、水平走査方向に並ぶ画素の極性を正、負、正、負のように交互に反転させるドット反転駆動を行う場合を例に説明したが、これに限定されない。例えば、水平走査方向に並ぶ画素の極性を正、正、負、負のように2ドット毎に反転させる駆動(2ドット反転駆動と呼ぶ)を行ってもよい。
図12は、本実施形態の表示ドライバー100(走査線駆動回路10)を含む電気光学装置350の構成例である。
図13は、本実施形態の表示ドライバー100(走査線駆動回路10)を含む電子機器400の構成例である。本実施形態の電子機器として、例えば車載表示装置(例えばメーターパネル等)や、モニター、ディスプレイ、単板プロジェクター、テレビション装置、情報処理装置(コンピューター)、携帯型情報端末、カーナビゲーションシステム、携帯型ゲーム端末、DLP(Digital Light Processing)装置、プリンター等の、表示装置を搭載する種々の電子機器を想定できる。

Claims (11)
- 表示パネルの走査線を選択する選択信号を出力する走査線駆動回路であって、
データ電圧の極性反転が行われた後の前記データ電圧が前記表示パネルのデータ線に供給される期間を、第1の期間とし、前記データ電圧の前記極性反転が行われなかった後の前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される期間を、第2の期間とする場合に、前記第1の期間の開始から前記選択信号をアクティブにするまでの期間の方が、前記第2の期間の開始から前記選択信号をアクティブにするまでの期間よりも長いことを特徴とする走査線駆動回路。 - 請求項1において、
前記第1の期間において前記選択信号がアクティブ状態に維持される第1の選択期間の長さと、前記第2の期間において前記選択信号がアクティブ状態に維持される第2の選択期間の長さとが同じであることを特徴とする走査線駆動回路。 - 請求項1又は2において、
前記第1の期間は、
前記データ電圧よりも高い第1のコモン電圧から前記データ電圧よりも低い第2のコモン電圧への切り替え、又は前記第2のコモン電圧から前記第1のコモン電圧への切り替えにより、前記データ電圧の前記極性反転が行われた後の期間であることを特徴とする走査線駆動回路。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれかにおいて、
前記表示パネルは、
第1表示ラインに対応して設けられた第1走査線及び第2走査線のうち前記第1走査線により選択される第1画素群と、前記第2走査線により選択される第2画素群を有し、前記データ線が前記第1画素群のいずれかの画素と前記第2画素群のいずれかの画素により共用される表示パネルであることを特徴とする走査線駆動回路。 - 請求項4において、
前記第1画素群を駆動する前記データ電圧と同極性の前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される第3の期間と、前記第1画素群を駆動する前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される第4の期間において、前記第1走査線を選択する前記選択信号をアクティブにして前記第1画素群を選択し、
前記第2画素群を駆動する前記データ電圧と同極性の前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される第5の期間と、前記第2画素群を駆動する前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される第6の期間において、前記第2走査線を選択する前記選択信号をアクティブにして前記第2画素群を選択し、
前記第4の期間又は前記第6の期間が、前記データ電圧の前記極性反転が行われた後の期間である場合、当該期間の開始から前記選択信号をアクティブにするまでの期間の方が、前記データ電圧の前記極性反転が行われなかった後の前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される期間の開始から前記選択信号をアクティブにするまでの期間よりも長いことを特徴とする走査線駆動回路。 - 請求項5において、
前記第3の期間又は前記第5の期間が、前記データ電圧の前記極性反転が行われた後の期間である場合、当該期間の開始から前記選択信号をアクティブにするまでの期間の方が、前記データ電圧の前記極性反転が行われなかった後の前記データ電圧が前記データ線に供給される期間の開始から前記選択信号をアクティブにするまでの期間よりも長いことを特徴とする走査線駆動回路。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれかにおいて、
前記表示パネルは、
第1走査線により選択される第1表示ラインの画素と、第2走査線により選択される第2表示ラインの画素と、第3走査線により選択される第3表示ラインの画素とを有し、
