Abstract
Description
図3は、本明細書に記載される、ウェブにひだ付けする、又は別の方法でウェブを成形するための形成機器20の一例を示す。形成機器20は、形成ガイド22と、ウェブを少なくとも部分的に形成ガイド22に接触して維持するための装置又は機構と、を備える。いくつかの場合、ウェブを少なくとも部分的に形成ガイド22に接触して維持するための装置は、任意の相手部品24を備えることができる。形成ガイド22は、2つの側縁部26、終端部を有する上流端28、終端部を有する下流端30、ウェブ対向面32、及び反対面34を備えることができる。形成ガイド22のうちのウェブ対向面32の構成について、以下に詳細に記載する。反対面34は、限定するものではないが、(図3に示されるように)平坦、(図6に示されるように)波形、又は(図13及び図14に示されるように)傾斜若しくは曲面を含む任意の好適な構成とすることができる。
(1)単位用量パッケージ
いくつかの場合、本方法及び機器は消費者製品用の単位用量パッケージの形成、充填及び封止に使用され得る。本明細書では、単位用量パッケージの製造という文脈で本方法及び機器を説明するが、これは本方法及び機器の用途のほんの一例であるものと理解すべきである。方法及び機器は、任意の好適なプロセスで使用され得る。
図11は、交差機械方向に多数レーンL1、L2、...L12を有する機器を示す。これにより、単一フィルムウェブ(即ち、単一の第1の材料ウェブ10と、単一の第2の材料ウェブ12)から隣り合う列のサチェットを製造することが可能となる。本明細書に記載されるVFFS機器は、2〜12個、又はそれ以上の任意の好適な数の多数レーンを備えることができる。本明細書に記載される単位用量パッケージを作製する方法は、ウェブ10及び12のうちの少なくとも1つのための形成機器20を提供する。しかしながら、典型的には、ウェブ10及び12の両方のための形成機器を提供することが望ましい。かかる場合、ウェブのうちそれぞれが、本明細書に記載されるタイプの形成機器20及び20’のうち1つを通じて流される。形成機器20及び20’は、水平方向及び垂直方向に対して任意の好適な角度(即ち、任意の好適な配向で)で配向され得る。好適な配向は、略垂直から略水平までの範囲とすることができる。図11に示されるプロセスのバージョンでは、形成機器20及び20’は、略水平に向いており、ウェブ10及び12は反対方向からこのプロセスに送られている。ウェブ10及び12は形成機器20及び20’を通過するにつれて、一緒により近接してもたらされ、そして縦方向下方に旋回し、ノズル118を有する充填チューブ116の周りの、ノズルがその上にある充填ゾーン内に送られる。縦型封止機構120は図面の下部に示されている。
ウェブ10及び12の旋回に関する1つの課題は、ひだ付きウェブを旋回装置上で再方向付けする点にある。ひだ付きウェブを従来のアイドラーローラ上を単に通過させることは、ひだ付きウェブの構造体をバックルで留め、それによってその所望のひだ付き形態が破壊される。出願人は、ひだ付きウェブをアイドラーローラの周りを旋回しようとする試みより優れたアプローチを開発した。このアプローチでは、ウェブの少なくとも1つ、典型的にはウェブ10及び12のそれぞれを、図13に示される旋回ガイド140などの固定の特別に成形された表面上を通過させる。ウェブ10及び12は典型的には、図11に示される反対方向からVFFS機器内にもたらされることになる。ウェブ10及び12はそれぞれ本明細書に記載されるように形成され、その後、ウェブ10及び12はその自身の旋回ガイド(図11には図示せず)上を縦方向下方に旋回される。図13に示される旋回ガイド140はひだ付きウェブを45度下方の角度で旋回する。
サチェットの多数レーンが1つのウェブから同時に形成されるとき、ウェブ10及び12は、図12に示される断面構成などの断面構成をとることができる。これは、交差機械方向(CD)シールを形成するために、熱封止交差機械封止バーがウェブをクランプする前の分注ゾーン内のウェブ10及び12の一例である。CDシールを作製するためにウェブ10及び12のクランプとともに発生する1つの課題は、ウェブの封止される部分に小じわが形成される場合があることである。描画シーケンスの図15A〜図15Dに示されるように、シールバー122及び122’は一体となり、結合されたウェブは、封止のため平坦な構造体を形成するために、水平に広がることができない。図15A〜図15Cは、一体になる封止バー122及び122’のシーケンスを示す。図15Dは、封止バー122及び122’が離れて後ろにさがった後、形成され得るウェブ内の小じわを示す。
サチェットを作製するプロセスの場合、第1の交差機械方向シールが、サチェットの底部を形成するようになされる。製品は、頂部が開いたサチェットの中に分注される。製品は、シールがサチェットの底部が形成するようになされた後、分注され得る。他の実施形態では、製品は、(製品がシール範囲まで流れ落ちるまで少し時間がかかるので)シールが最大のライン速度でサチェットの底部を形成するようになされる少し前に、分注され得る。製品は、任意の好適な分注装置又は機器で分注され得る。好適な装置としては、限定するものではないが、分注される製品に応じて、ノズル、容積ポンプ、及び個体又は粉末を分注するための装置が挙げられる。本説明ではノズルを記載するが、他の分注装置を代わりに使用してもよい。
Claims (11)
- 入ってくる機械方向に移動しているウェブが少なくとも1つの略機械方向に配向した軸の周りを交差機械方向に屈曲するように、ウェブを成形するための方法であって、
a)ウェブを提供する工程と、
b)2つの側縁部、上流端、下流端、ウェブ対向面、及び反対面を備える形成ガイドを備える形成機器を提供する工程であって、前記方法は、前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面が少なくとも前記形成ガイドの下流端に隣接して位置する、交互の略機械方向に配向した隆起部及び谷部を備え、各点が前記ウェブの一側縁部から等距離である一連の点を通じて経路長を測定した場合、前記ウェブ対向面が、前記ウェブ対向面の幅にわたって実質的に等しい経路長を付与するように構成されており、前記形成機器が前記ウェブを前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面に少なくとも部分的に接触させて維持するための装置又は機構のうち1つを備えることを特徴とする、工程と、
c)前記ウェブ内に多数の隣り合う長手方向に配向された折り目を形成するために、前記ウェブを前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面上で、かつ少なくとも部分的に前記ウェブ対向面と接触させて通過させることによって、前記ウェブを形成する工程と、
を含む、方法。 - 前記隆起部及び谷部が、前記形成ガイドを平面視したときに、第1の略三角形状フィールド内に実質的に配置されており、前記第1の略三角形状フィールドがベース部とピーク部とを有し、前記第1の略三角形状フィールドが、前記三角形フィールドの前記ベース部が前記形成ガイドの下流部を形成するように配向されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記形成ガイドにおける前記交互の略機械方向に配向した隆起部及び谷部が、互いに隣接している、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面が、前記隆起部以外の前記形成ガイドの部分より前記ウェブ対向面上において更に外側に離間されている少なくとも2つの突出部をその上に更に備える点で、前記ウェブ対向面が、実質的に等しい経路長を付与するように構成されており、前記突出部が長さ及び幅を有し、前記突出部の前記長さが前記突出部の幅よりも長く、前記突出部が、前記長さ寸法が前記隆起部に対して鋭角となるように配向されており、前記突出部が前記隆起部と位置合わせする、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記突出部の前記長さ寸法が、前記入ってくる機械方向に対して実質的に垂直に配向されている、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 突出部が、前記形成ガイドを平面視したときに、対角線に沿って前記隆起部と交差する、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記突出部が、前記形成ガイドを平面視したときに、第2の略三角形状フィールド内に実質的に配置されており、前記第2の略三角形状フィールドがベース部とピーク部とを有し、前記三角形フィールドの前記ベース部が前記形成ガイドの上流部を形成するように前記第2の略三角形状フィールドが配向されている、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記形成ガイド上の前記突出部の少なくとも一部が以下の構成、
a.前記略機械方向に配向した隆起部が第1のグループの隆起部を備え、前記形成ガイド上の前記突出部の少なくとも一部が隆起部の形態であり、かつ第2のグループの隆起部を備えること、又は
b.前記形成ガイド上の前記突出部の少なくとも一部が、前記略機械方向に配向した隆起部に対して鋭角に配向された軸を有するローラを備えること、
のうち1つから選択される、請求項4に記載の方法。 - 前記ウェブを前記形成ガイドに少なくとも部分的に接触して維持するための前記装置が、
a.前記形成ガイドのための相手部品であって、前記ウェブが前記形成ガイドと前記相手部品との間に送られるときに、前記ウェブの前記幅にわたって前記ウェブを少なくとも一時的に成形するために、前記形成ガイドと嵌合する、相手部品、
b.前記ウェブ上に気圧を付与する装置、又は
c.前記形成ガイドを通じて前記ウェブ上で真空に引くこと、
のうち1つから選択される、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - ひだ付きウェブを機械方向に移送しながら前記ひだ付きウェブを屈曲させることが前記ひだ付きウェブの全体平面の外であることを特徴とする方法であって、
a)ひだ付きウェブを提供する工程と、
b)上流端、下流端、及びウェブ対向面を備える旋回ガイドを提供する工程であって、前記ウェブ対向面が、交互のかつ隣接する機械方向に配向した第1の組の隆起部及び谷部を備え、前記ウェブ対向面が、交互のかつ隣接する機械方向に配向した第2の組の隆起部及び谷部を備え、前記第2の組の隆起部及び谷部が、前記第1の組の隆起部及び谷部の下流にあり、前記第2の組における谷部が機械方向において前記第1の組における前記隆起部のうちの1つと位置合わせされるとともに、前記第2の組における隆起部が前記第1の組における前記谷部と位置合わせされるように前記第1の組の隆起部及び谷部と位置合わせされており、前記旋回ガイドを交差機械方向を見ている面から眺めたときに、前記第1の組の交互の隆起部及び谷部のうち前記隆起部が第1の平面を画定し、前記第2の組の隆起部及び谷部における前記隆起部が第2の平面を画定し、前記第2の平面が、前記第1の組の交互の隆起部及び谷部によって画定される前記ウェブ対向面の部分から離れる方向に前記第1の平面から離れるように曲げられるようにされている、工程と、
c)前記ひだ付きウェブを前記旋回ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面上でかつ前記ウェブ対向面に接触して通過させ、前記ひだ付きウェブを前記ウェブにおけるひだを維持しながら屈曲させる工程と、
を含む、方法。 - 入ってくる機械方向に移動しているウェブが少なくとも1つの略機械方向に配向した軸の周りを交差機械方向に屈曲するように、ウェブを成形するための形成ガイドであって、前記形成ガイドが2つの側縁部、上流端、下流端、ウェブ対向面、及び反対面を備え、前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面が、
a)前記形成ガイドの前記下流端に少なくとも隣接して位置する、交互の略機械方向に配向した隆起部及び谷部であって、前記ウェブ対向面が、各点が前記ウェブの一側縁部から等距離である一連の点を通じて経路長を測定したときに、前記ウェブ対向面の幅にわたって実質的に等しい経路長を付与するように構成されている、隆起部及び谷部と、
b)ウェブを前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面に少なくとも部分的に接触して維持するための装置又は機構であって、前記形成ガイドの近くに置かれ、前記ウェブを少なくとも部分的に前記形成ガイドの前記ウェブ対向面に接触して維持するために、ウェブの少なくとも一部に力を印加するように配置された装置又は機構のうちの1つと、
を備えることを特徴とする、形成ガイド。
