サーモクロミック材料は、熱にさらされると変色する。これは、熱サイクリングによって色が活性化され、不活化されるヒステリシスプロットに関して頻繁に議論されている。このヒステリシスは、例えば、Kotaniらに対して発行された米国特許第4,442,429号において示されている。これらの材料は、プロットの別々の側の間にほとんど熱分離がないかまたは大きな分離がある特定の適用のために設計され得る。性能設計の他の局面は、熱活性化温度を含み得る。
本開示の手段は、これまで顔料に損傷を与えていた化学的添加剤の有害な影響に対して安定化される、改善されたサーモクロミック顔料を提供することにより、当該技術を進展させ、上記で概説した課題を克服する。

ここで、Mは、酸化状態nの上記のとおりの金属であり;そしてRは、5〜14個の範囲の炭素数を有するカルボキシレートである。Mは好ましくは遷移金属である。Rは好ましくは、ヘキサン酸の分岐状誘導体(例えば、2−エチルヘキサノエート)である。

それぞれの疎水性相および親水性相を含むエマルジョンを形成すること、その後、ポリマーを硬化させてスラリーとして該疎水性相をマイクロカプセル化することを包含するマイクロカプセル化プロセスにおいて、改善点が、安定化剤を該スラリーに添加することを含み、ここで、該安定化剤が、該硬化されたマイクロカプセルの壁を安定化し得る金属−酸素部分を含む、プロセス。

前記金属−酸素部分の金属がジルコニウムである、項目1に記載のプロセス。

前記金属−酸素部分がセッケンである、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目5)
前記金属−酸素部分が遷移金属セッケンである、項目4に記載のプロセス。
(項目6)
前記金属−酸素部分がジルコニウム−金属セッケンである、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目7)
前記金属−酸素部分が2−エチルヘキサン酸ジルコニウムである、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目8)
前記金属−酸素部分が前記スラリーの0.5重量%〜15重量%の範囲で添加される、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目9)
前記ポリマーが、メラミンホルムアルデヒドポリマーおよび尿素ホルムアルデヒドポリマーからなる群からの少なくとも1種類のメンバーを主に含むように選択される、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目10)
前記マイクロカプセルがサーモクロミック顔料として製剤化される、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目11)
前記マイクロカプセルがフォトクロミック顔料として製剤化される、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目12)
前記マイクロカプセルが香りのマイクロカプセルとして製剤化される、項目1に記載のプロセス。
(項目13)
項目1に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
(項目14)
項目2に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
(項目15)
項目5に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
(項目16)
項目7に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
(項目17)
項目8に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
Claims (17)
- それぞれの疎水性相および親水性相を含むエマルジョンを形成すること、その後、ポリマーを硬化させてスラリーとして該疎水性相をマイクロカプセル化することを包含するマイクロカプセル化プロセスにおいて、改善点が、安定化剤を該スラリーに添加することを含み、ここで、該安定化剤が、該硬化されたマイクロカプセルの壁を安定化し得る金属−酸素部分を含む、プロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分の金属が遷移金属である、請求項2に記載のプロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分の金属がジルコニウムである、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分がセッケンである、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分が遷移金属セッケンである、請求項4に記載のプロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分がジルコニウム−金属セッケンである、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分が2−エチルヘキサン酸ジルコニウムである、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記金属−酸素部分が前記スラリーの0.5重量%〜15重量%の範囲で添加される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記ポリマーが、メラミンホルムアルデヒドポリマーおよび尿素ホルムアルデヒドポリマーからなる群からの少なくとも1種類のメンバーを主に含むように選択される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記マイクロカプセルがサーモクロミック顔料として製剤化される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記マイクロカプセルがフォトクロミック顔料として製剤化される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記マイクロカプセルが香りのマイクロカプセルとして製剤化される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 請求項1に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
- 請求項2に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
- 請求項5に記載のプロセスによって製造された安定化マイクロカプセルを含むスラリー。
